Today the Official Dead Rising Facebook page posted that Frank West is packing for a new adventure and asked fans of the page what he would need for a trip to 'paradise'
With fall releases in full swing the crew at Goozernation looks back to their ever growing backlog which includes games such as Red Dead Redemption, Fallout New Vegas, Goldeneye 007, Enslaved, Borderlands, Bulletstorm, LA Noire, and Metal Gear Solid 4. The bigger question here is how can a gamer find anytime to play this stuff and how did these games end up in the backlog?
NoobFeed.com discusses the glory that is the Collector's Edition for games that need it, but also goes over the pitfalls of having some more ridiculous editions that seem unappealing or otherwise unfitting. But in general, NoobFeed just spreads the love about the little packages that makes dedicated fans smile.
"Along with the return of Frank, Off the Record will bring back photography to the Dead Rising series. This means that when you mix in all the zany zombie action that the series is known for alongside comical weapons, and a full co-op experience (Which will feature one player controlling Frank West while the other takes on the persona of Chuck Greene) then fans can rest assured that plenty of insane photo ops (such as the one depicted in the comic) will take place."
"With prices these low on Capcom games, you can barely afford not to bash in the head of a zombie, or a human infested with a parasite that looks like a zombie. If you've been waiting to join your favorite caped crusaders in combat and their most treacherous arch-villains, now is a great time to jump in."
"Capcom has developed and published many great titles for more than 20 years now. Among these titles are popular fan favorites Street Fighter, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, and many more. This week, Capcom is having a sale for PC games with many titles at least 50% off their listed price."
Escort quests, something that has become insanely popular in games for the last two generations of consoles. Goozernation has put together a list of games with escort quests, include, ICO, Dead Rising, Resident Evil 4, and Enslaved, The problem here is there is no standard for games, most of the time the NPC is a useless burden and makes the game almost unplayable. Should developers due away with the escort missions? Should there be some sort of standard?
Today on the daily update: The first episode of Mortal Kombat Legacy is online, Section 8: Prejudice trailer was released, PS3 users will be getting exclusive content for L.A. Everybody loves the zombie shooter genre. I say genre because there have been so many titles in the past few years that it can be considered its own genre. Check out the article as we discuss the best of the best.
"Some are iconic games that help define a franchise's trajectory. Some are simply great, innovative titles that are breathtaking in their delivery. But they all have one thing in common: they are the most supreme sequels in the horror genre, and they all deserve top praise."
"But in 10 years from now, will we look back at this period of gaming and chuckle? Will zombies seem as positively antiquated and absurd as anthropomorphic animals? Trends ebb and flow, and the likely answer is yes. Yes, zombies will seem as positively antiquated and absurd. They are a product of this era’s interest in dark violence and grim visuals, just as Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel was a product of the 90s interest in bright colors and cartoon characters."
"The fortunes of the zombie have waxed and waned over the years, but the living dead have never been as popular as they are now. Films (Zombieland, Resident Evil, Diary of the Dead), TV shows (The Walking Dead), Books (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) and, increasingly, video games. It’s not just zombie apocalypse-based games like Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead, but games completely unrelated that are jumping on the bandwagon: Call of Duty entries World at War and Black Ops both feature zombie mo..."

"I sat playing Dead Rising 2 earlier when I thought, 'You know what, there's a bit of an undead obsession sweeping the world at the moment'. Be it the mockery of vampires in Twilight (can you tell I don't like this film) or the shambling undead that stalk the world in the new series The Walking Dead, zombies and the general undead are becoming rapidly more popular than ever before. It was always inevitable that this infection of zombies would seep into the land of videogames and that's just wh..."
"Welcome to Fortune City. A city similar to Las Vegas: with all the sex, gambling and booze that made the city so famous. In a world where the zombie problem seems to be well established, zombie-related game shows have begun to sprout up. A participant in the show, "Terror is Reality," ex-motocross champion Chuck Greene must win cash to provide his infected daughter, Katie, with Zombrex in order to keep her from turning. When Chuck is blamed for a sudden and unexpected zombie outbreak, he must..."
While no big fan of Keiji Inafune's controversial stance on the video game industry, TK-Nation's Cassandra Khaw nonetheless provides both a link to Neogaf's translation of his recent interview as well as a little of her own cynicism in regards to the man.
Raptr analyzes one of the most interesting exchanges of gaming achievements between Capcom's Dead Rising series and Valve's Left 4 Dead. Both games require gamers to kill well over 53,000 zombies to earn a coveted achievement that only 2-4% have gotten. However after checking all the numbers on Raptr, another gaming franchise has entered into the mass zombie-killing achievement discussion as well.
"Dead Rising 2 is impressive in that it can easily catch the attention of casual gamers looking for brief moments of excitement and fun. But after the combo weapon gimmick wears out its novelty, and the player comes to the conclusion that zombie grinding is more frustrating than rewarding, all that is left is a broken, mind numbingly repetitive and poorly executed game that had about as much potential as Fable II failed to realize."
Like with so many open-world type of titles, the recently released Dead Rising 2 on the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 has plenty of cheats and secrets.
Capcom released their firt Dead Rising 2 Theme Pack. This one is the Soldier pack, which gives you increased ammo among other things. Read all the important details about thin pack on Ripten.
For those who love zombie killing sprees, then Dead Rising 2 can't be missed, but for those of us who have had just about enough zombies, then - well - you get my drift.
That aside, the game delivers what it's supposed to do, and OXCGN has a nice lengthy review on it, over 40 images and 5 videos for your viewing pleasure, so make sure you check it all out.
"Some remakes just shouldn't have been made in the first place. If you ever have the chance, don't check out Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop. Probably one of the worst remakes I've ever had the misfortune of seeing. A remake of the excellent 360 version, and built from the ground up for the Wii, Chop Till You Drop does everything wrong. The ability to take photographs was completely removed (which is odd, considering that the protagonist, Frank West, is a photographer...), the amount of zombie..."

Dead Rising 2 takes players to a new location with a new hero, and about 10 million more zombies to kill. But does Dead Rising 2 have enough meat on it’s bones to feast on your heart strings?"

Video games are filled with all sorts of characters. Some are heroes, some are villains. And some are just creepy and wrong. Here are the top ten video game deviants of all time!
"Just when you thought you’ve dressed Chuck in every outfit imaginable, Capcom’s Europe has announced four new downloadable content (DLC) Theme Packs that will include a host of new skills, weapons and some great new looks for Chuck. In the next few weeks, Dead Rising 2 players will get a chance to dress up Chuck as either an insane Psychopath, a sleek ninja, a crazy sports fanatic or a kick-ass soldier."
"After over four years since the release of the original Dead Rising, its sequel has arrived in a post-apocalyptic Las Vegas, Nevada. Right off the bat in Dead Rising 2, you’re thrown into a world where zombies have established themselves among us and we’re shown the after effects of their presence. Throughout the game you play as Chuck Greene, a former motocross champion who participates in a zombie killing game show called “Terror Is Reality” in order to raise enough funds to administer his ..."
"f you're unfamiliar with the series, Dead Rising basically put a quite average photographer in a Mall, covered it in the walking undead, and let you loose. Your mission was to save those still alive while uncovering the truth about the outbreak. Dead Rising 2 keeps this theme going, changing the protagonist to former Motocross star Chuck Greene and the location to Fortune City. This new playground of zombie fun is pretty large. There are multiple sections to the mall, each offering different ..."
"This week's podcast has a shaky start as two hosts are absent, the has a shaky end when one comes back. Don't worry though, it's still interesting with discussions on Dead Rising 2, Minecraft, Dead Space 2, Halo: Reach, and more.
The news stays strong, and we answer an e-mail question about pinball machines. Andy's book club also returns."
"It’s October and Halloween is near. Time for Ghosts, Ghouls and everyone’s favorite blue collar monster – Zombies.
Check out this creepy Dead Rising fan-made trailer created by Ripten friend Nathan Aaron."
"Frank may have covered wars, but Chuck can walk and shoot at the same time; a skill that is far more useful than taking inappropriate pictures of walking corpses. Combine that with his more refined hand-to-hand combat and sweet motorcycle riding skills, and we have ourselves a genuine spotlight thief. Sorry, Mr. West!"
Ah the Japanese...they sure know how to promote something. Check out this promotional video showing Japanese model Izumi Hinata playing Dead Rising 2. Is it SFW? Just Barely. Enjoy.

"Let’s face it, before Dead Rising 2, you probably never heard of Blue Castle Games. If you did, it’s likely because you were a fan of The BIGS, their successful series of multi platform arcade-style baseball games. However, once Capcom tapped Blue Castle to spearhead production on Dead Rising 2, all eyes were on this Canadian developer to see if they could deliver a true Capcom title, even while half a world away."
Bright lights. Big cash. Sub-machineguns strapped to teddy bears. Fortune City has it all. It's only when Chuck Greene tears up the town in Dead Rising 2 where it comes to be of any use. Trapped in a zombie infested city for three days, Chuck is a kid in a candy store with a vast array of vicious weapons and bras to try on. When the end of the world is in sight, Dead Rising 2 shows us that with a chainsaw in hand, it always pays to be somewhat positive. But is the games slapstick approach a p...

"Dead Rising 2 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 isn't all about taking the main character, Chuck Greene, on a zombie killing spree using a mish-mash of various items. While there is a lot of that, there is also a story that moves the zombie killing spree along and Capcom has released a new batch of screenshots showing the story element."
"Capcom has been one of the top names in gaming since 1984. Think of your favorite games of all-time, for a specific system, perhaps from a single genre, or even by year, and Capcom probably makes an appearance every time. When Capcom announces a new game, the entire world of gaming stops to take notice, GameZone included, and 2010 has been an extraordinary year for announcements. Capcom has plenty of games to watch out for, but five in particular should be on every gamer’s radar."

Fortune City was ultimately chosen as the game's basis, offering some of the same contrast between fun playground and ultraviolent adventure.
"We wanted to do a Disneyland-style amusement park," Inafune added, saying that, like Las Vegas, going to Disney would have been "another fun place we would have ..."

"In today's shooter-filled market, we spend a lot of time spraying bullets and looking down scopes. But every modern shooter gives us some kind of blunt weapon or knife for up-close encounters. In real life, if a badguy charged at you with a knife, you'd probably still shoot him. But video games make the melee button so satisfying, as you watch an opponent crumple to the ground, stumble backwards, or see the "Beat-Down" medal flash on screen. Melee weapons add a visceral side to our shooters a..."

"When the 10-minute demo was complete, along with the goal of 20,000 PP (points to tally up), it’s apparent that Blue Castle Games has kept Dead Rising 2 along the lines of the original in style and attitude. The only issue left to address is the save system. Here’s hoping Blue Castle Games has their mind on the right track with an overhaul of the original save system."

"Microsoft's very own Major Nelson just tweeted a couple hints at what games we can expect to see on the show floor of it's press-only event tomorrow night, known as X10 - the list has a couple surprises in it and is not all-inclusive. His tweets, along with our guesses of what each game in the list stand for is below; did we crack the correct code? We have been told that there are other titles, not on this hint-list, that will be announced at tomorrow's event."
"Even though the first Dead Rising game has yet to grace the PlayStation 3, Capcom plans to bring Dead Rising 2 and it’s gory glory to the PS3 sometime this year. The best part? Capcom revealed that the game is going to have it’s own customizable weapon system and the possibilities could be fantastically crazy."
Capcom have (sort of) revealed the release date for their upcoming zombie title Dead Rising 2. It will be released sometime this year.
Well, it's better than no release date at all, I guess.
[Dead Rising 2 forum]
Apparently Capcom's Q1 2010 release schedule was too crowded and in order to avoid having the games compete with each other (and other games) they've decided space to out the releases throughout the fiscal year. As a result of this, Super Street Fighter IV, Dead Rising 2, Lost Planet 2, and the North American release of Monster Hunter Tri have all been delayed. No concrete dates have been given but you can expect these titles to be released any time between April 2010 and March 2011.
"By this time of the year, we have little to look forward to, as we patiently await new announcements from the Electronic Entertainment Expo. This year, however, that's not the case. We have several games due in the next few months, including sequels to various hit franchises and a number of original titles. There are so many, in fact, that we struggled putting together a list of ten games we cannot wait to play. We even managed to cut Alan Wake, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Gran Turismo 5 and Super ..."

The Dead Rising 2 booth was quite popular at this year's Tokyo Game Show. While many people flocked to play the DR2 demo, there was an added incentive for attendees to check out the game's multiplayer. Whoever won the night's multiplayer Dead Rising 2 tournament would also win an official motorcycle jacket, as worn by Chuck Greene in the upcoming game.

"With recent speculation that Dead Rising 2 would feature a multiplayer aspect, many fans of the original have been wondering how Capcom could possibly incorporate this feature into the highly anticipated sequel.
It seems Capcom have found a way. Terror is Reality (TIR) is reminiscent of a game show, instead of the usual aim of most traditional game shows, TIR features 4 contestants all trying to slay as many undead as possible.
Stay tuned for more details on this exciting new 4 player, ..."

Well if the product is good, there is no such thing as too much. However there is gluttony of Zombie games heading towards the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and I doubt very much all will be good. Here is a small sample of upcoming zombie games, divided in two different groups. Those that might not be good or even end up gettin..."

Capcom weren't able to show off Dead Rising 2 at E3 because of the whole Swine Flu epidemic, however we have some new, if not annoying screenshots from them for Dead Rising 2.

Capcom's hotly anticipated zombie-filled sequel game, Dead Rising 2, has now been reported by Kotaku that it will not be shown at this year's E3. Originally planned to be one of the major games at the conference, Dead Rising 2 would have been one of the highlights of Capcom's showings. However, due to a swine flu outbreak in Osaka, where Capcom Japan is located, members of the company are heeding the Japanese government's suggestions and will not travel to the expo during the first week of ...
A regular old Capcom extravaganza is what we have going on over on Neoseeker, in light of their CAPTIVATE 09 press event yesterday.

Kotaku recently got to watch the Dead Rising 2 demo, and they were very impressed with the obvious improvements over the last game. Two interesting features were the amount of enemies this time around and the abundance of weapons that you will be allowed to use. Forget the old news that the game will have 6000 zombies on screen at once. That number has now been upped by another thousand.
The original Dead Rising also let you use nearly anything as a weapon, but this time around Capcom are h...

"Dead Rising's brown-coat-wearing photojournalist hero had a great name: Frank West. What about the motorbike-ridin'-zombie-killing dude in the Dead Rising 2? What's his name?
According to the upcoming issue of Famitsu, the character's name is Chuck Greene. That's right "Chuck". We're already putting in our short and punchy naming recommendation for Dead Rising 3: "Jack"."
At the recent GDC 09, Capcom announced that the upcoming zombie title Dead Rising 2 will have a multiplayer option. They are also hoping to have as many as 6000 characters onscreen at one time.
Update: It looks like he Multiplayer rumor has just been debunked. Product Manager Laura Scholl "mistakenly referred to the game as multiplayer instead of multiplatform". That doesn't necessarily mean there won't be a multiplayer option. It just means tht Capcom haven't confirmed/denied it yet.
...
With the recent announcement of Dead Rising 2, many people noticed that photojournalist Frank wouldn't be making an appearance as the protagonist this time around. Because of this, it's highly likely the sequel may not include the photgraphy element that appeared in the first game.
What do you think? Is this a good thing? Bad thing?

"Following constant teases and a viral video on Friday, Capcom today confirmed that The Bigs veteran Blue Castle is developing Dead Rising 2 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Following the original Xbox 360-only Dead Rising, which hit in 2006, the sequel will be set in the Las Vegas-inspired "gambling paradise of Fortune City." Capcom noted that the zombie virus is now "spreading unchecked throughout the United States.""
Electronic Theatre hosts the first Dead Rising 2 Trailer released by Capcom today. Dead Rising 2 is in development for PLAYSTATION3, Xbox360 and PC.
NOTE: This is a large video and may take a short while to load.
"Dead Rising 2 is set several years after the infamous zombie invasion of Willamette. Unfortunately, the zombie virus was not contained at the conclusion of Dead Rising, spreading unchecked throughout the United States and Dead Rising 2 depicts a country where zombie outbreaks continue to strike."
Capcom certainly aren't being risky this gen, recently confirming that Dead Rising 2 the long awaited sequal to the original zombie mall outing will be coming to both the 360 and the PS3. While many know Capcom supports multiplatform games and has a Dead Rising Wii version coming soon, can this only mean that its coming to the PS3 also"
"The March issue of EGM should be arriving for subscribers around this time, and as usual Quartermann has some rumors for us, and particularly juicy ones at that!
The one I am most interested in is that Dead Rising 2 is in the works (ya think?) for multiple consoles, but instead of Capcom developing it directly, a Los Angeles based developer is taking care of it. Dead Rising 2 rumors seem to have become a sort of fad, something that people will throw out there just for some news. I hope thi..."
"There has been no official announcement of a sequel to Dead Rising," said Chris Kramer, director of public relations Capcom Entertainment. "Any rumors of an official announcement are erroneous. The Famitsu article was part of its rumor column, not a news story. Additionally, we will not be making any announcements at tomorrow's Gamer's Day"
