Capcom's foray into the game-to-movie business might not have been well revieved with Resident Evil: Degeneration, but maybe they will have more luck with Dead Rising? Yep, Capcom have recently announced that they are making a live-action Dead Rising movie. See the trailer below...

"Gaming has a lot of "dirty words", and one I'd like to highlight today is "exclusive", a term personally I haven't seen explored from an editorial standpoint. In this Special, I'll go into the ups and downs of exclusives, non-exclusives, why anyone cares, and why developers go one way or another.

Even the most latent of gamers is probably aware of what "exclusive" refers to, but just in case, here's an explanation: due to a variety of reasons, a developer and publisher decide together thei..."

"Games are expensive and time consuming. As a consumer you deserve the best for the money you work so hard for—especially in the current economic climate. With that in mind, I have compiled a short list of games that looked promising and generated a lot of gamer attention, but ultimately proved unworthy of your cash. I’m not saying that the titles selected are horrible, because many of these games have garnered a loyal fan base and do offer a good time. Instead, the point of the article is to ..."

"That the Dead Rising experience exists on Wii is not a bad thing at all. Taken on its own merits, this is a fun little distraction that reminds me of Sega's classic arcade ports on Dreamcast, but with a little more meat and ambition built in to the game mechanics. It's tough to ignore the game's faults when compared to its bigger, prettier and, still-flawed brother on Xbox 360, though. Should veteran Dead Risers bother with this admirable, but limited port of the original? Not really. But sho..."

Think the Dead Rising Wii port looks woeful and disappointing? Capcom Product Marketing Manager Colin Ferris doesn't think so. In a recent interview with Gamedaily, Ferris explains why gamers shouldn't critisise the company's choice to port the title to the Nintendo Wii ...

"I still never saw more than a dozen zombies at any given time, and zombie corpses melt away upon death to keep as much of the Wii's limited resources available as possible. Now, provided the timeline of Chop Till You Drop remains the same as its predecessor, the mission we played is very early in the game and before the mall becomes truly overrun. Still, it was rather unimpressive and I've never seen anything anywhere to suggest that this is not the standard throughout.

So few zombies migh..."

"Capcom have released an image of the European Box Art for the forthcoming Wii exclusive release, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop. Now officially stamped with a BBFC 18 Certificate – as if there was ever any doubt..."

"When we first heard about Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop we had a number of questions about how the Wii would be able to handle the previously 360-exclusive title. The original iteration featured hordes of zombies, next-gen graphics, and a host of side quests that all fit well with the hardcore user base that dominates the 360 platform. Obviously, the Wii just wouldn’t be able to handle the same level of detail and chaos that we enjoyed in the original. And that’s where Chop Til You Drop come..."

Capcom recently voiced it's concerns over the potential "smear campaign" that the media may make against its upcoming games, (particularly Resident Evil 5 and Dead Rising Wii), due to the violence and gore that appears in those titles.

Capcom worry that "in the event of violent incidents and other criminal cases involving juveniles, we may be subject to a smear campaign by some sections of the mass media which often point out the correlation between crime and games".

At GamesConvention 2008, Kotaku got their hands on a demo of Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop for Wii ... and they were thoroughly disappointed, claiming that so many things have been cut out during the conversion from 360 to Wii that the "hobbled" Wii version "can't begin to approach the level of polish, complexity, and the overall experience of the original".

Some new Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop screenshots have been released, showing protagonist Frank West blasting his way through the hoardes of zombies that Dead Rising is known for. Minus the hoardes.

An interesting addition to the Wii version is, you guessed it, the "waggle". To shake off zombies you must use the Wiimote to "waggle" Frank away from them.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm hoping that there is an option to turn off the giant shaking Wiimote icon that pops up on th...

Christian Svensson, Capcom USA's Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development, has stated over on the Capcom Unity forums that the newly-announced Dead Rising game, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, is not a port. It is being remade from the ground up for the Wii and will implement its own mechanics, while keeping the same story and location. The game will run off of an updated Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition engine.

In a press release today, Capcom has announced that the new Dead Rising port for the Wii will reach US shores this Winter, and will go by the moniker Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop. Starring photojournalist Frank West, players will control Frank as he struggles to survive the zombification of Williamette, trapped in a shopping mall overrun by the undead. He must make use of whatever is at his disposal in the shops to get to the bottom of the story, and save lives in the process.

"To men huddled around the big tables at Capcom HQ, the idea of porting yet another big-selling, zombie-based title to the Wii must sound like a no-brainer! You've got to wonder, though, whether they consulted with the tech guys before pushing forward with the project. Because as far as the 360 version was concerned, the thing that stopped it from being an awful beat-em up and made it such an awesome game were the hundreds of zombies the 360 could process. From these screens, it doesn't look l..."

It was reported yesterday that the Xbox 360 zombie survival horror Dead Rising will be ported to the Wii by Capcom. More details have surfaced today after translating the article in Famitsu that had announced the game.

The Wii port will be titled Dead Rising: Zombie Sacrifice, and will have the same basic premise: protagonist Frank West is in a zombie-infested mall, helps survivors, and battles the zombie hoards. The major changes to the Wii version will be to the story structure and the...

In the latest issue of Japanese weekly magazine Famitsu, it was revealed that Capcom will be porting the Xbox 360 zombie survival horror Dead Rising to a Wii console near you.

The game will try to be as close to the 360 source as it can, and will feature extra content such as a new boss and changes to the weapons, along with other things not mentioned. Difficulty will be made easier, and camera and controls will be modified apparently to be more like Resident Evil 4.
