Bright Hub sorts through the Nintendo Wii library and gives you 25 stellar titles that you may have missed (or mistaken for shovelware). What games were listed between 25 and 21?

"Some great news for Sony Playstation fans who feel that maybe they didn’t see enough exclusive content coming their way. Visceral Games, one of EA’s subsidiary studios, announced exclusive content for the PS3 version of the Limited Edition of Dead Space 2. This isn’t your typical exclusive skin or piece of DLC, no, Visceral is packing in Dead Space Extraction on the Limited Edition of Dead Space 2. Dead Space Extraction was the critically acclaimed prequel game for the Dead Space series that ..."

Dead Space Extraction didn't have great sales on the Wii, but will it have more success on the PS3 and 360?

Possibly.

According to a rumor that is currently floating around the 'net, Visceral Games have plans to update and port Extraction to PSN and XBLA sometime in the near future. The game will apparently sell for approximately $15.

Planet Cracker, a lesser-known title, was also listed as a game that might see a PSN and XBLA release.

"In light of some decisions recently made by third party developers, I believe I have some ideas as to why it's hard to sell hardcore third-party titles on the Wii.

So what do you do? The Wii doesn't have all the technical features of the 360 or the PS3. So how can a third party make a Wii hardcore title that can compete with 360 and PS3 hardcore titles? EA actually had a pretty good idea with Dead Space: Extraction. HD console owners who like Dead Space would be interested. Plus, there ar..."

LVLONE has just relaunched the website with new features and new content to come in the future. To celebrate they are giving away 1 of 8 games every week in the month of February. They will also be adding games in the future.

"Recently, there’s been a lot of press about SEGA and EA’s disappointment with the sales of 'adult' Wii games, such as Mad World and Dead Space: Extraction. While games like Wii Sports Resort seem to sell by the truckload, many 'mature-themed' titles struggle to break even.

Unfortunately this has lead to various games journalists and their readers making a very dubious leap of logic. In short, they're claiming that Nintendo is just for kids. According to certain elements of the gaming commu..."

Despite Capcom and SEGA claiming that mature games don't sell well on the Wii because there is no audience for such titles, Silent Hill: Shattered Dreams's lead designer Sam Barlow believes there is a very different reason for the lack of sales...

"When Electronic Arts announced Dead Space Extraction for the Wii—a follow-up to the million-plus selling PS3, 360, and PC title Dead Space—the company explained that the game would be used as a test case to see whether or not it would develop more Mature-rated Wii games in the future. And according to NPD sales figures, Extraction failed: it sold just 9,200 copies in its first week. So what does this mean for the future of Mature Wii games?"

"Afro Samurai
Ar Tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica
Assassin's Creed II
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Battlefield 1943
Bejeweled Blitz
Borderlands
Dead Space: Extraction"

"Be honest, when’s the last time you gave your stick a waggle? If you’re a hardcore gamer, it’s probably been a while, but the rest of us power up the Wii every other day and give that barely-functional stick a shake or two. Why? Because it’s damn fun, that’s why. Here are the games that have had us swinging it the most this year."

Ironically, the list dubbed "Ten Games to Cross off Your Child's Gift List" almost certainly contains at least one game that if on ever member of Neoseeker's list this holiday season.

Now while I'm sure the Times *scoff* has their reasons to dislike this list of mostly shooters and questionable ethical decisions, but that's the main draw (at least for most gamers)

"With the usual deluge of video game releases in the third and fourth quarter, combined with the continuing sagging economy, gamers may have an even harder time this holiday season coming up with the cash for all the games they want. In case you're hoping Santa (or, as the case may be, Hanukkah Harry) will bring you a sleighful of goodies this year, here's a little help making up those lists of yours.

First up is the Wii, which dominated the market for so long, yet saw sales fall this year,..."

"It is almost Halloween, and as we all know Halloween is about scary things. Unless you’re a woman, then it’s about going to a party store and buying a costume that could be most easily described as “slutty [OCCUPATION]“. I doubt any of our readers have to worry about encountering these though, so here is a list of some of the scarier games out there to keep you occupied. This isn’t your standard list though, as I am avoiding the things you normally see, such as, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, an..."

While many Wii owners are calling for more hardcore games, is it really worth it for the developers?
Dead Space sold fairly well on the PS3/360, but Dead Space: Extraction hasn't done too well at all. Despite recieving great reviews, the game barely managed to sell 9,000 units.

Capcom's Spyborgs did even worse, selling a mere 500 copies in September.

Embarassing!

"How can a video game be scary? Unlike horror movies where you're stuck watching some hapless victim succumb to scary stuff, video games empower players to fight back. Or at least run away. It's October. Time to identify horror-gaming's essentials.

Some of the scariest experiences I've had in my life come from video games. I can remember running from the family computer room in tears after a wax skeleton in an Are You Afraid of the Dark game chased me through a basement.

My chest still g..."

"Dead Space Extraction is probably one of the most surprising games I've played this year as it's a game that came out of now where and is backed by amazing production values and polish. Despite being an on-rails game Dead Space Extraction has all the Dead Space trademarks we would come to expect and in some regards pulls them off a bit better than the first game. Dead Space Extraction is such a polished and thrilling experience that it should be required to play if you own a Wii game like act..."

"With the release of the highly-anticipated prequel, Dead Space Extraction, hitting store shelves Tomorrow. The developers, Visceral Games will host a live webcast for fans in honor of launch on September 29th at 12p.m. PST. The one-hour webcast will feature demonstrations of the exciting gameplay of Dead Space Extraction. Fans will also be invited to participate in a Q&A session with the Visceral team."

Fans were a little iffy when Dead Space: Extraction was announced as an on-rails shooter for the Wii. So is the game worth checking out? Gametrailers takes a look...

Looks like our user frostyhudson's 411mania site has ceased their great release lists, so it's back to shacknews.

Shed a tear, then remember Risen, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, the Wizard of Oz RPG (really, it's gonna be good -- check for Neoseeker's review shortly), Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga, Gran Turismo PSP, Obscure, and lastly (phwew), the PSPGo are coming out (plus a few other highlights).

"Dead Space was one of last year's more pleasant surprises. A space-horror-shooter mashup that combined the ammo conservation and "jump" scares of the survival horror genre with a strong, original narrative. But whenever an idea like that turns into a franchise, it's easy to become skeptical -- especially when an Xbox360/PS3 title comes to the Wii. Fortunately, Dead Space: Extraction treats its source material with respect. Developer Visceral Studios shows the right way to bring an adult, cons..."

"Throughout the course of this past weekend, September 17th – 20th, the Paris Game Festival took place over on the continent, showcasing some of the best games of this year and the hopefuls for 2010. Big name publishers such as Microsoft, Sony, Activision, Electronic Arts, Nintendo and Square Enix were joined by a raft of development studios and accessory manufacturers, each attempting to wow their audience with their latest and greatest releases."

"Gamers who pre-order at participating retailers will receive a special code that unlocks four of the game’s ten unique challenge modes. These intense, pulse-pounding difficulty levels pit players alone or co-operatively with a friend against the Necromorph horde, competing for high scores and stylish kills. Players who do not pre-order the game must play through each chapter to earn and unlock the challenge modes, which is of course something most players would do anyway."

After critical success on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, Dead Space headed off to the Wii. Extraction isn't a port to the Wii, but rather a prequel. At GamesCom Dead Space's producer hinted that after beating Extraction, players should wait until the end of the credits as it will hint to the "future of the series". Could this mean new info on Dead Space 2?

"Activision are building a new studio in San Francisco. But need people to work there. So to get the ball rolling, they've nicked two of the senior staff at EA's Visceral Games, the team behind Dead Space and Dante's Inferno.

Glen Schofield, who was general manager at Visceral, and Michael Condrey, who was chief operating officer, both let their colleagues at EA know today that they were off to work at the new studio, whose name and purpose is at the moment a mystery."

"As you may have heard, Dead Space is coming to the Nintendo Wii and it’s going to be a "guided first-person experience." It can’t be helped that the decision to make Dead Space: Extraction a rail shooter has raised some concerns, namely the impression that this Wii game is merely a lazy cash in. Maybe this new video providing some details on Dead Space: Extraction’s control scheme would change your mind."

It is the opinion of Neoseeker writer Lydia Sung that Nintendo has in recent years fallen a bit off the wagon, so to speak. Okay, a lot.

Citing her experiences at E3 this year, some of the company's contradictory statements and actions, and support of the mature audience (or lack thereof), she divulges on how Nintendo has missed the mark in a lot of ways, and touches on how they can fix it.

Have a read if you feel so inclined!

"This year’s E3 was a feast for the eyes, showing off some very impressive games for all three major home consoles. While the Microsoft and Sony E3 press conferences were stuffed full of gaming goodness, the Nintendo press conference seems to be left in the dust. If you actually look at what Nintendo has coming out for the “hardcore” you will realize they are doing a better job of tailoring towards that crowd that they have in the past. Don’t believe me? then feast your eyes on this amazing li..."

Okay, so we've hearing about this Dead Space spin-off on the Wii for a while, and based on screenshots and videos, it all looks pretty kosher. Given that EA won't stop talking about their renewed commitment to the Wii, promising to take it seriously as a platform.

We can't help but feel, however, with its fixed camera movements and less-than-natural controls, that Dead Space Extraction may fall into the same rut as Capcom's Dead Rising Wii game. It's kind of like House of the Dead, just ...

"Developed at EA’s award-winning Visceral Games studio, Dead Space Extraction tells the story of a handful of space colonists desperately struggling to escape from a horrific infection on the Aegis VII mining colony deep in the furthest regions of space. The game introduces Lexine, an important new heroine, to the Dead Space universe. Players will play as the crew who falls victim to a mysterious contagion aboard the ship, with it quickly becoming clear that protecting Lexine will be their onl..."

"Electronic Arts employee Patrik Patel has cheekily updated his LinkedIn profile - revealing he’s working as a Technical/Development Director for Dead Space 2. Call us “obvious” but we’d assume the project has to be rolling before work can begin.

Perhaps we’ll see something at E3. Although don’t hold your breath. It’s unlikely this game will see the light of day until next year."

"After Electronic Theatre reported on the fact (with thanks to Blend Games) back at the start of March, Electronic Arts Inc. today officially announced that its award-winning EA Redwood Shores Studio has been renamed and re-branded Visceral Games to better reflect the studio’s culture, identity and focus on creating intense action-oriented intellectual properties."

Following up on last month's set of screenshots, here's another look inside Dead Space Extraction, the Dead Space prequel headed for Wii .

Kotaku have revealed a batch of new screenshots for the upcoming Wii rail-shooter Dead Space Extraction. It looks like it is shaping up to be a decent game ....

The prequel to Redwood Shores' Dead Space is seeing some details pour in.

First, it's said to take place three weeks before the original's protagonist Isaac gets to the Ishimura, the ship we traversed last time. You start out on a planet before setting off, but things "turn nasty".

Next, you'll be able to play as two different characters, and one NPC is a heroine you must protect and save (not much of a heroine).

The flamethrower will be in the game, as well as a couple of different...

Contrary to earlier reports, the Dead Space prequel has been confirmed by EA to not support Wii MotionPlus functionality.

MotionPlus allows for greater response time when using the Wiimote moition controls, but as Extraction is a rail shooter that doesn't focus on accurate motion controls (just accurate shooting), this shouldn't be any great loss.

Electronic Arts COO John Pleasants has confirmed to those attending the 2009 Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference today that the publisher's upcoming Wii title, Dead Space Extraction, will utilize Nintendo's upcoming Wii MotionPlus accessory. Details on how it will be implemented is currently unknown.

Also announced in a press release earlier today, the Wii version of Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10, along with the newly-unveiled EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis will support the Wii Remote...

"dsH: Recently, Dead Space Extraction for Wii has been announced. Do you plan to integrate any new features? Will map sizes and number of enemies have to be reduced compared to Dead Space? Will it still be physics heavy?

Glen: You should see it. It looks fantastic on the Wii. In my opinion (and others) its one of the best looking games so far on the Wii. Obviously we will make a couple compromises but in other ways we can add more, especially taking advantage of the Wii controllers. There..."

"EA just confirmed a Wii version of Dead Space in its Q3 investor call.

The firm said it is to focus on stronger marketing for Wii in the coming year, with Dead Space, new tennis titles, three MySims games and Hasbro brands

We’re a little unclear on release date for the new version of 2008’s celebrated horror, but this year is a safe bet. Mr EA’s call’s a little flaky in the quality department.

The news comes on the back of confirmation of a heavy Q3 loss for the developer."
