In this week's installment, Matt Beaudette of Gaming Irresponsibly gives his list of the Top 10 Characters in Video Games. With so many memorable character throughout the history of video games, will your favorite make the list?
An auteur is, in film, a director who maintains complete control over the creative process and infuses a distinct personal style in his or her works. A video game auteur is someone who manages to have games that feel distinctly theirs, with strong narratives, styles, and a loose adherence to typical conventions. They are people who create that certain kind of game you can't find by anyone but them.
"The beauty lies in what is communicated to us from the game, and in how we respond to its resonance. They don't need to be complicated or elegant, but they must introduce characters and ideas that stir us, tied into a story that has something grander to say."
2010 was a great year for gaming. In the many great games of 2010 there were many great characters. There's the iconic characters, the unique characters, the memorable characters and the always popular badass characters.
