"Jr.com is having a pre-holiday sale on PC games, and these deals are tough to beat. Save some money when you buy any two PC games off the list of over 100 titles for just $7. These are hard copies of games that we’re talking about here, not something you’ll have to download and hope it works. This sale won’t last for long and the best titles will be in stock for even less time, so act quickly to save big."
DJ Hero 2 (for Playstation 3 only) is now available at the incredible price of $19.99 on Amazon. Act fast to take advantage of this. Xbox 360 version appears to be out of stock.
"In addition to what will be a slow phasing out process for Guitar Hero and DJ Hero DLC, it was reported that 7 Studios, which was a part of Activision’s music game development team, has officially been closed. Several key employees voiced their disappointment on Twitter and wished one another well wishes in their future projects."
"Target, Toys R Us and Best Buy are all offering deals this week meant to get shoppers to make multiple purchases. Meanwhile, K-Mart is offering a hot deal on Mafia II releasing this week and a similar deal on Red Dead Redemption."
Activision have revealed that DJ Hero 2 will release this fall and announce a mix from DJ Hero 2 as downloadable content to be available to DJ Hero owners from June 8-14.
"Activision just continues finding new ways to go from the popular publisher that stayed the course and rose to number one, to being the big jerk that is too big for their own britches as my grandpa would say. Since becoming the number publisher, Activision has done everything possible to piss off gamers."
"A thrifty gamer is a happy gamer so we've scoured the Sunday ads to find the best video game deals for this week from local stores for the Playstation3, PSP, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, and PC for the week of April 11, 2010."

All Age Gaming's Danny Yee takes a look at yet another music based game produced under the "Guitar Hero" banner, DJ Hero. Instead of the standard guitar controller, you get a DJ Controller to scratch, mix and pump out beats to 93 pre mixed tracks. Is it better than the Guitar Hero games? Read on to find out.
"The music/rhythm game genre has been at a bit of a standstill since the release of Rock Band. Going around, and around in circle of squeals and rip offs of those squeals, nothing has really been put forth to break the seemingly endless cycle. That is, until the release of DJ Hero. Attempting to put a new spin on the music game genre, DJ Hero takes players from the role of the creators of music to that of the Disk Jockey. The question is, does this new spin on the rhythm genre skip a beat or h..."
With the holidays quickly approaching, it may sometimes feel like we're being inundated with music and rhythm games: The Beetles: Rockband, Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero, DJ Hero, etc. How does something that promises to bring a fresh take on the genre, DJ Hero, stand up? Is it just a gimmick, or is it worth checking out? Spawn Kill's Molotov Cupcake gives her verdict.
"Whereas Guitar Hero was a party game that could draw from a fan base already established in the in-game music, DJ Hero has neither of those things going for it. While there are a surprising plethora of tracks, with Activision licencing over 100 songs to create 94 mixes, it’s not a whole song you’re listening too. With the exception of Daft Punk’s inclusions, it’ll be a beat here, a riff there, a bit of the chorus over the main sample of another song."
""This game will bring the DJ forefront to the masses. People will see that this a fun experience and that DJ'ing as a whole is exciting," according to Will Silva, DJ Willy Will, a Latin and Hip-Hop veteran who's also represented by Wild 94.9"
"DJ Hero is Activision’s latest entry into their long-running “Hero” line of rhythm video games. Similar to Guitar Hero, DJ Hero has players tap buttons in time with music notes. But DJ Hero takes things to a different place–that of club/dance music. Does the popular franchise make a strong case for the DJ scene? Find out in this review."
This the newest The Bender, sees the return of the guys from Philadelphia. We chat about what shenanigans went on at the GameX convention (both good and bad) and also find time to catch up with the news of the week. "What do you look for in a Hero game? Is it the moments when the impossible becomes possible, advanced techniques decoding devilish solos? Is it the point where the vague renditions of Normal mode come into sharp focus on Expert, turning you from player into performer? Is it an education, a hand to guide you through anthems, styles, movements and careers you never gave a second glance? Or is it intimacy, a chance to enjoy tired favourites as if you were hearing them for the first time? If it’s..."
"Gamers beware, it’s that time of the year again where publishers are pumping out more than enough entertainment for anyone to handle; unfortunately Activision is making sure your wallet is super-dry this holiday season with the release of DJ Hero – yet another music game that requires a big-ass controller. Things could have gone very bad for the little DJ engine that could, it’s a super-big investment ($120 retail with turntable) and if it had ended-up a critical failure neon-colored heads wo..."

And GamesIndustry.biz understands that at least one independent UK games developer is already liaising with Activision's FreeStyleGames on DJ Hero 2.
Although not in the first game set for release on October 30, DMC Champion and judge DJ Qbert has also been approached for inclusion in a sequel."
Bobby Kotick's logic has spread to Daniel Rosensweig, CEO of Guitar Hero.
20% of households with consoles own the game. And the GH CEO wants to go after the remaining 80%? Truly it doesn't mean that 80% do not quite like rhythm games or don't have the coordination/rhythm needed.
Until we see a better game (singular here, not plural; as in ONE game, just like Rock band), Guitar Hero will always be seen as saturated.
Open the pool up for others while you're at it. Rhythm Heaven over...

"Serious Guitar Hero fans know just how difficult power metal band Dragonforce's "Through the Fire and the Flames" is to play, even on a plastic guitar with five buttons. DJ Hero has its own "TTFTF" equivalent, we've learned.
According to DJ Hero lead Jamie Jackson from FreeStyleGames, the turntablism game pretty much maxes out with Scratch Pervert's mix of Noisia's "Groundhog (Beat Juggle)" on expert. Considering how clumsily I scratched my way through DJ Hero's mash ups, I asked Jackson i..."

James Walker has had it. This goes past Bobby Kotick's recent dropping Sony support threats. This has been a long time coming. Someone needs to call Bobby out on the things he is doing with what was a company we all could at the very least say used to be "better than EA"
Speaking to The Times, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick yet again expressed his desire for Sony to cut the price of the PlayStation 3 console, but this time went one step further. Kotick threatened that the publisher, the largest third party video game company, may have to pull its support for both Sony platforms, the PS3 and PSP, if a price cut for the PS3 doesn't happen and sales continue to lag.
Said Kotick:
quote Bobby Kotick, Activison Blizzard CEO
"I'm getting concerned about ...
While it's been said that DJ Hero will allow players to use guitar hero guitars, Activision stated that they might allow reverse compatibility. That is, allowing the turntable peripheral from DJ Hero to be used in Guitar Hero. While it may be too late to implement this feature in Guitar Hero 5, Activision are looking into this for future versions.
Love the idea or hate it; the fact is that Dj Hero is coming and there's nothing much anyone can do to prevent it. Some info has been released by Activision as to what gamers can expect from this spin off from the Guitar Hero series: With over 100 tracks listed aswell as the ability to battle other DJ's and being able to scratch, mix and sample, Dj Hero is truly going into new territory. Although, whether this is enough to win the critics over is something that only time will tell...
