Drakensang Online is the first MMO game in the huge pen and paper franchise. Published and developed by Bigpoint, the game has amassed thousands of players and is arguably one of the strongest browser-based games on the internet.
"The story is well written and cuts a clear path in localisation, much more so than most European PC titles with a similar budget. Entirely reliant on Fantasy cliché, Drakensang: The Dark Eye is stronger because of the preconceptions players have of the immediately recognisable characterisation. Though objectives are rarely open to player interpretation, the delivery is a constant source of encouragement through the game’s eighty-or-so-hour main quest."
If you've ever caught yourself thinking, "I wish they'd come out with an RPG like they were in the old days..." then Drakensang: The Dark Eye might just be what you are looking for in a role-playing game. Based on a more old-school tactics-heavy style, Drakensang is based on the Realms of Arkania series from the 90's.
