"Broussard simply couldn’t tolerate the idea of Duke Nukem Forever coming out with anything other than the latest and greatest technology and awe-inspiring gameplay. He didn’t just want it to be good. It had to surpass every other game that had ever existed, the same way the original Duke Nukem 3D had.
But because the technology kept getting better, Broussard was on a treadmill. He’d see a new game with a flashy graphics technique and demand the effect be incorporated into Duke Nukem ..."
After being sued by Take-Two back in May for breach of contract concerning Duke Nukem Forever, developer 3D Realms and affiliate Apogee Software responded with a counterclaim on June 19 for a breach of contract by Take-Two, concerning an unannounced title tentatively known as 'Duke Begins' and further details on Duke Nukem Forever.
Take-Two's original lawsuit against 3D Realms back in May dealt with Duke Nukem Forever, which the developer had reported that it could not finish development o...
Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw is here today with what we assume is the only Duke Nukem Forever review you'll ever see. Check the video at the source.
This should be entertaining...
I personally apologize for bringing this episode of The Bender a day late, I have been working my butt off trying to get a Sacred 2 review out sooner than later. To make up for this, enjoy one of the crew being drunk as we discuss the game news of the week along with some E3 talk. Grab the mp3 directly here or off iTunes here.
I love 3D Realms, personally, but it's healthy to laugh in dark times, so with that, here's the "Duke Nukem Forever developer diary" as presented by Gamespy -- a satirical look at the game's development cycle, which has recently been canned.
"Anyone who knows me on this site knows I'm one of the most unconspiratorial Redditors left on the site. None the less, check this out.
The domain was registered on 5/7/09, the very same day that 3DRealms announced it was closing. Furthermore, if I recall, that news did not break to the internet at large until very late in the day - sometime in the evening. I haven't registered many domains in my time, but in my experience, it takes at least a few hours to process, up to around 24 hours.

Although Duke Nukem Forever has came to an end, the teasers just doesn't stop. More screenshots are leaked in addition to the entire plot as well as levels.
Rumors began to spread like crazy earlier that 3D Realms closed down, then shortly afterwards followed a confirmation. Then videos and screens began to leak all over the Internet of what could have been. Well what if all this was planned? What if the company never closed and this was a ll a big hoax by the devs all leading to an astonishing press show at E3?
With most collapsing developer studios we get to see a peek of just what they were developing. As Free Radical showed us Star Wars Battlefront 3 we are now getting some footage of Duke Nukem Forever from 3D Realms. It could be fake, but looks solid enough to be gameplay. Not exactly worth almost a decade of waiting is it though?
The Bender this week brings things back to a normal level. We are side tracked for a little bit because the awesomeness that was the Star Trek movie, but other than that, all game news including 3D Realms, Lord British (Ultima Online creator), and Perry hit up a convention. Grab us for your mp3 player by hitting up either iTunes or grabbing the mp3 directly here.
Haha, this is awesome. This person is very patient, and to be honest, that's what he gets for reserving a Duke Nukem game. There has only been one good Duke Nukem game, in my opinion. The guy deposited $10 on a preorder for this game back in 2001. It's now 2009, the game has just been canceled, and now people are wondering if this guy will be able to get a refund of his $10.
Well after the news that 3D Realms has shut down, already images are starting to leak onto the internet from Duke Nukem Forever.
From the looks of the screens i would say it was sadly shaping up to look like a good game.
More screenshots at the souce, some may be NSFW.
After 13 years of business, 3D Realms succumbs to financial woes, like many other developers these days. 3D realms has been known for their work like Duke Nukem 3D, Max Payne 1 and 2 and Prey. This means Duke Nukem Forever will be going to the grave.
"One is a pure, bubbly and pretty-as-pink princess who rarely reveals even the skin of her ankle. The other is a sassy, sexy and no-nonsense computer program who has spent her entire existence in the nude. Within the tightly linked and extraordinarily small world of videogame voice acting, however, these two women are the exact same person."
It's been another long stretch since we've heard anything about Duke Nukem Forever, but today 3D Realms released an artwork featuring some of the beasties Duke will come across in the game.
And yes, these are the in-game graphics. Let's just hope that they won't be outdated graphics by the time the actual game is released!
Yes, you read correctly. There are some new Duke Nukem Forever screenshots available in the Duke Nukem 3D XBLA gallery, once you complete all the game's achievements. At the rate it's going, we might see this game released by 2040!
Steve, of Duke4.net, snapped these two pictures ...
Team Xbox sat down with co-owner/president of 3D Realms George Brussard to talk about the upcoming release of Duke Nukem 3D on XBLA. They go into the features of what new stuff will be brought to the table, so feel free to check that out if you wish.
For those more interested in Duke Nukem Forever, they managed to sneak in a question about how it's going, and the response is positive.
After a decade of patient waiting, we finally got some new info and videos for Duke Nukem Forever just a few months ago.
But if fans were expecting bigger Duke news at E3 2008 then they will be sorely disappointed.
3D Realms chief Scott Miller claims that the game is "swimming along nicely" and that it won't be appearing at E3 because "E3 is irrelevant". In other words, they have nothing to show.
No sir, the reports weren't made up or anything, Duke Nukem Forever is in production.
Jace Hall of the Jace Hall Show was lucky enough to get an exclusive look at some footage from the game, and now you can see it for yourself. It lives! It liiiivess!
(Check it through the source.)
Yep, that's right, after being delayed comparably as much as Duke Nukem Forever, Too Human finally has a release date for its 'hunter-gatherer' Action/RPG: August 19 in North America, and August 29 in Europe. Rejoice!
"I have seen it. Maarten has seen it. We watched actual interactive gameplay being interacted with.
Of course, we are far from the first to make such a claim. During 3D Realms' lengthy development cycle of Duke Nukem Forever here in the Dallas area, I have run in to my fair share of publishers and developers who boast they have gotten a glimpse of the game.
To be honest, I thought the game's supposed existence was a vast conspiracy. More than a couple of times over the last decade I ha..."
Yes apparently it's true, 3D realms released A sound byte from Duke Nukem Forever containing the Duke's opinion on the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray format wars. The teaser trailer that was released late last year was only half of what they had ready to be released while the other half contained various catchphrases and inside jokes (including this one) about the development team.
The Audio clip can be downloaded on the 3D realms website.
Apparently there was more than meets the eye to the Dallas Business Journal article on Duke Nukem Forever, which you only saw if you were a subscriber on their website. Duke4.net has obtained some of that info, as well as collaborating the main points of the existing information from that article if you got lost in all the accusation throwing that was done. Take it all with a pinch of salt mind you, but everyone should be doing that about any information released about this game.
The Dallas Business Journal has responded to the incident about the "off the record" information they published about Duke Nukem Forever. In addition they've uploaded an audio file of the interview with Scott Miller to back up their side of the argument, located here.
"Official Statement:
I'd like to address the article the Dallas Business Journal put up today.
In what appears to be an unfortunate turn of events, there seems to have been some confusion between what was 'off the record' and what was not. I suppose we're used to dealing with gaming press and not mainstream press. Lesson learned....
(Full statement at source)"
In an upcoming issue of the Dallas Business Journal, Scott Miller has given more information about Duke Nukem Forever, which has been further enhanced by a couple of email exchanges, where he reports that the game may even be coming to the PS3 and 360.
Edit: This appears to have been false information.
With the Duke Nukem Forever teaser trailer being released only a few days ago, it's a little surprising that in-depth analyses of the one-minute long video have already begun popping up on gaming websites ...
(go to source for full trailer analysis)
"After seeing the teaser we thought it was something we should share with all of you and while it's just a teaser, rest assured more is coming.
Tomorrow, Wednesday the 19th, around noon CST, we will release the first teaser trailer from Duke Nukem Forever. To tide you over until then, there has been a screen shot taken from the teaser and posted in our forums."
"With this year's gaming harvest already played and beaten and filed away into memory like so many saves, it is time now to look on.
Past the bulbous shores of 2007, far off in the distant recesses of release schedules, lies the gone-golden bounty of untapped potential. And while many may slip their surly bonds and give flight to the year 2009, more still will cement their crusted plastic into delighted hands. Here we mark the prophecy of the PC legacy, a concrete, yet tumultuous hour of re..."
"Its amazing what one can come across in China Town. Sure, you always expect to find some Hello Kitty steering wheel covers and pirate video CDs, but it is shocking to find this particular item even here.
Duke Nukem Forever is one game no one ever expected to see release day. For years it has been in production, suffering delay after delay, it has become the joke of the videogame industry. Luckily for 3Drealms, it seems someone has taken the liberty of finishing the game for them, and r..."
