The creators of the Dynasty Warriors franchise have been getting away with making the same game for the past 11 years. Here at GameRabies, Senshaitian gives his opinions on how he feels about this 11 year trend.
"It’s the sixth day of Christmas and for many Christmas Day will now be a distant memory. Hopefully you’ve been given plenty of videogames to ease the stress of getting back to normal life and you’re getting stuck in to your favourites. If you do happen to venture out, however, Electronic Theatre is on hand with suggestions as to what you should look out for in the January sales. Electronic Theatre’s The Twelve Games of Christmas series, one article every day for the twelve days of Christmas, ..."
"Following the confirmation of Tecmo Koei Europe’s appearance at this October’s MCM Expo this coming October, Electronic Theatre can today offer details on the company’s intended activities. While much of their presentation will remain a mystery until the event itself, Electronic Theatre has learned of some very special treats in store for fans of Koei’s long running franchises."
"Electronic Theatre hosts images of the most recent free DLC Costume Pack for Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires from Tecmo Koei Europe. This week's Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires free DLC includes four new armour sets: Desert Armour Set (Men), Paladin Armour Set (Women), Lion Armour Set (Men) and Shaman Armour Set (Women)."
"Shin Sangoku Musou 5: Empires (otherwise known as Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires outside of Japan) is the latest instalment in the long running franchise published by Koei in conjunction with the Omega Force development team. Set in the historic backdrops of the Three Kingdoms of ancient China, I have been an avid fan of this hack and slash strategy based game since it first appeared on the PS2 back in 2000."
"I love free stuff and so should you. I mean, what’s not to like? It’s free. Starting this week, Koei will begin offering new character armor sets for the Edit mode in Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires, which is available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3."
"With this being a Dynasty Warriors home console release, there will of course be a large amount of time spent claiming battlefields and storming through hundreds of on-screen enemies, but to suggest it ends there is a bigger deceit than the lack of an addition to the game’s numerate value. An equally absorbing portion of the game lies within its strategy element."
"The core gameplay remains the same, and the fans wouldn’t have it any other way. Taking to the battlefield as your chosen character the player is tasked with eliminating the enemy leader. Players cannot take the enemy’s Main Camp without a supply line running through from their own Main Camp, and so some maps will hideaway their trophy kill until the player has established a connection. There is no mission variation as seen in other Dynasty Warriors titles as the game has less of a prescribed..."
"Designed for the legions of Dynasty Warriors fans, Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires is a game that brings together the best aspects of the action and strategy genres. In this latest edition, players can experience Ancient China’s greatest and most glorious war as an all-powerful lord or as an officer."
Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires is out today, June 23, for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, at least in North America. It's also when KOEI officially lifts that embargo on reviews.
So here's Neoseeker's take on the latest Dynasty Warriors title. Fans usually expect a little more from Empires, and there are some neat features to check out. If you're not crazy about KOEI games though, you might want to pass this one up.

KOEI released a couple new videos this afternoon, showing off the customization options players will be getting with Edit Mode in Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires.
Split by gender, each with their own set of options.
"Thankfully, Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires is more than just a tidy-up and tacked-on strategy mode. Not only does the title offer six new characters not currently available to European Dynasty Warriors fans (previously in the late-release of the PlayStation2 version of Dynasty Warriors 6, which never arrived in Europe), new weapons and vastly improved tactical command options, but it also features character customisation, branching storylines and a wealth of other new additions."
"Thousands of gamers, anime fans and cosplayers of widely varying quality descended on ExCel, an exhibition centre in London, for one of the biggest events in the collective industrys’ calendar today, the 15th MCM Expo. Running for two days, 23rd May and 24th May 2009, those few Electronic Theatre readers who managed to miss today’s show may just have enough time to organise the necessary travelling arrangements, and grab that Bomberman outfit they’ve been saving for a special occasion."
Earlier this week, Koei announced North American and European release dates for DYNASTY WARRIORS 6: Empires, that spin-off everyone was expecting.
Today, they've come out with a new trailer for the game, and it's quite epic. While you can't judge a game by its trailer, let's be honest -- it's Dynasty Warriors, what kind of surprises would you really expect?
So just sit back and enjoy the eye candy.
Koei recently announced that their DYNASTY WARRIORS 6 spin-off, DYNASTY WARRIORS 6: Empires (which many fans have probably been waiting for) will be headed to North America next month. Retailers will be selling the game on June 23 and are now taking pre-orders.
On top of the usual Empires shenanigans, you'll be able to customize your own warrior now, choosing from a wide range of edit options, ensuring he (or she) turns out just the way you like.
Play as an officer or lord and take you...
"Functioning with a similar strategic basis to the well received Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires, Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires features what promises to be an engrossing strategic element alongside a whole host of new character features."
"Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce caused quite a stir at the recent Tokyo Game Show as it unveiled some of the most dramatic changes to the Dynasty Warriors series of games in many years. This Multi-Player focused PSP game will be available to play on the KOEI stand and will..."
