The lack of talk for the sequel to the under appreciated Wii title, Endless Ocean forced me to grab as much information about the game and make a little preview for it.
"So the global economy is taking a giant dump, and your job is among the waste. Your house is worth less than you owe the bank. Your town/state/country is bankrupt. Big banks are rolling in your future taxes. Meanwhile, you couldn't get a loan if you offered a shylock your ring finger up front. Times are tough, but you can take comfort in this undeniable fact: Never in your life have you had so much time to game. Sure, you could use your time on the unemployment dole to take some classes and i..."
"Oh the Wii, the poor old Wii. It is doing so well for a company that in terms of home consoles was on the brink of doom after the slightly lacking Gamecube, yet it receives a lot of slack for its casual line up although at times it can be a little deserving of its negative praise (need I mention countless amounts of shovelware?). But today we honour those that went by with a bit of a fizzle, some promising that didn't quite meet the standard set by themselves, some fantastic games that didn't..."
"In years past, NeoGAF has done their favorite moments in gaming, using only MS Paint to show you. Looking back at 2008 brings us some of the coolest moments, great memories that can look amusing to just plain epic, even when in Paint. And for Wii (along with every other system) were keeping it based strictly on titles that have seen UK launch..."
"Endless Ocean really is that simple in premise. Hell, the box art only has four sentences' worth of description, three of which are "Dive. Discover. Dream." And good gravy, the devil's in the details! After submitting to the game's bewitching tranquility, you can experience the elation of finding an unidentified fish in an area oft explored or a walrus on the deck of your ship. You'll photograph dolphins and revisit their locations in hopes of persuading them to join you as a dive partner. Yo..."
Well, we're already almost a few weeks into 2008, and we've experienced the January slump; it's a hangover from the holiday season, and a teaser for a stocked and loaded February and March. However, that's not to say that there aren't quality games coming out in January. What games are you gonna get that are coming out this week?
Notable games this week:
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin (DS)
Burnout: Paradise (360, PS3)
Endless Ocean (Wii)
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (DS)
