The PS3 has been out for a few years now and has gotten a lot of flack for lacking strong titles. Here are a current top five games for the system and unsurprisingly, they're almost all exclusives.

"We all have those games that we follow for what seems to be our whole lives. If you don’t, most likely you aren’t reading this column. The game I most anticipated in my life was The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Ok, I admit it; at first it was because of how pretty it was and just plain how nerdy I am for an immersive fantasy world. When the game’s producer started to release more information however, I found something that I believe to this day to be one of the best game elements of all ..."

"It may seem like a silly thing to consider, yet the portrayal of women in video games has changed significantly since their introduction. You needn’t be a grizzled ancient or sociological bigwig to appreciate the differences. In the earlier days, arcade button-mashers relied on simple stories to drive the action, typically pandering to a young male demographic. The imperative of Double Dragon centered on the heroic duo rescuing a damsel in distress. Mario was compelled to rescue Princess Pe..."

"There has been a heated argument over whether or not video games can be considered an art form. One side's augment is that something interactive, that is subjective to the user's choice cannot be art. I wholeheartedly disagree. It is an art because we can choose, because we can make games something different, unique to the player. Art is not a single definition, it doesn't have boundaries. When you confine something like art, to take it away from everyday life; it starts it to lose its meanin..."

"After an initial update earlier today – promising good things for the future of the service – the full v3.2 revision is now available, adding further titles to the Games on Demand launch line-up. In addition to the likes of Resident Evil 5 and the bargain that is Viva Piñata, FallOut 3, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, Section 8 and ShadowRun are all now available also. FallOut 3 is priced at £34.99, while Section 8 is offered for £29.99."

"The Xbox 360 launched four years ago today in Europe, ushering in the current-generation of videogames consoles and putting a full stop in the life of the original Xbox. Only a handful of games for Microsoft’s first console made it to UK shores after 2nd December 2005, as the Xbox 360 began its life as the company’s definite priority."

Celebrating the 360's fourth anniversary IGN takes a look at the top 25 games on the console including some new and old releases over the years. The list is comprised of a wide variety of genres and features XBLA games for those looking for something on a budget. 360 owners can see what they've missed out on and put on their list for the holiday season.

"I hear a lot of bitching that innovation is dead in America. That’s a lie. The problem is that we have two industries at odds, neither of which is really equipped to present innovations to the masses.

First off, we have the indie community, which bewails its unrecognized genius and occasionally screams “sellout!” whenever someone in the community actually manages to make a hit.

Then we have the AAA industry, which often claims that it can’t take the kind of risks that innovation..."

"We contacted the Fallout publisher to find out its reaction, and were told, "Well he is a big part of our Fallout brand and is copyrighted, so, yeah, deciding on your own to use him to promote your business or product, or to sell stuff, or whatever, without getting permission from us ... not a good idea." Ruh oh!"

"Does your gaming friend never seem to be online? Do they never seem to want to play Wii with you? Does their gaming environment consist of a dark room with a chair sitting inappropriately close to the television? If you answered “Yes” to these questions, chances are your friend is a solo gamer — a lone wolf, preferring to lose himself in digital locales free from real-world distractions. This gift guide is written with that gamer in mind."

"Dragon Age: Origins is the biggest singleplayer role-playing game release of the season. It's also the only big-budget singleplayer RPG coming out this season. The RPG is one of the oldest genres in gaming, but big releases are becoming rarer each year.

We examine the state of the big-budget single-player RPG with a group of RPG developers. Each comes from a different facet of the market. Is it dying? Are the tastes of RPG gamers changing? What role do MMOs, consoles, and handhelds play? I..."

"Below is a list of the top downloaded items from the PlayStation Store for the week ending October 22nd. This week Call of Duty: World at War and Fallout 3 both dominate the chart. The number one spot is occupied by the latest COD: WAW Map Pack for the second straight week. Fallout 3’s add on content has been very popular over the past few weeks. Fallout 3 fans, whether you've picked up the game already or are still curious, the Game of the Year Edition is available as of today, packing all DLC and updates. It's $50 on PC and $60 for consoles.

Bethesda has taken the liberty of photographing each of the versions , as shown here -- looks purdy.

"For this effort, I decided that I'd attempt to show the blasted, barren Fallout 3 landscape in as much detail as possible - far beyond what either the Xbox 360 or PS3 are capable of. That meant running the PC version at 1080p, with every single setting at the max and backed with a megaton of processing power: in short, in full bullshot mode. The game has many tweakables dedicated to the LOD settings and those, along with the anti-aliasing and shadow detail, are where the lion's share of the C..."

The cover for the game of the year edition for Fallout 3 has been revealed, and it will be coming out October 31st. It will include the original game and all the DLC including: Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout, and Mothership Zeta. No price has been set yet.

"T.S. Eliot once wrote, "This is the way the world ends, not with a bang but a whimper." While that may be interesting enough for your freshman Introduction to Poetry class, it hardly works as a video game premise, which would explain why Activision hasn't yet secured the rights to Call of Poetry: Modernism Warfare. On the other hand, video games need intense settings and outrageous set pieces, and there's nothing more intense or outrageous than the end of the world. For this week's top ten, w..."

"Microsoft and Bethesda Softworks have confirmed that the highly anticipated Fallout 3 Downloadable Content (DLC) expansion, Mothership Zeta, is now available for purchase on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360 in North America and Europe. The DLC is also suggested to be available for the Games for Windows version of Fallout 3 on PC later today."

Mothership Zeta arrives August 3rd.

The Achievement List for the upcoming Fallout 3 DlC - Mothership Zeta. The DLC will have the player square off against an Alien Race after being abducted. The DLC will be released August 3rd.

"Once you've finished with the Mothership main quest, you'll still be able to return to the alien ship. There's definitely a reason to journey back, as the ship houses an item called "Alien Epoxy" which can automatically repair an item by 25%, even if you don't have a duplicate. Great news for all the Gauss Rifle fans who have only been able to repair it to 50% with vendors."

Bethesda raised the level cap from 20 to 30 through the Broken Steel DLC, but if you're one of those people who've already maxed out the level cap and are hoping for another increase, you might be a bit disappointed with what Jeff Gardiner has to say.

Speaking with MTV Multiplayer, he said that there are no current plans to further raise the level cap for Fallout 3; he says the game is meant to be played several times with different characters, instead of focusing on building up just one....

"Travis: The alien zapper in Fallout 3 is one of my favorite weapons. Will we see new weapons like alien rifles, shotguns, or black-hole grenades?

Jeff Gardiner: Yes there are new weapons, of course! There is an alien pistol called the "Atomizer," a rifle called a "Disintegrator," a new melee weapon, and a new type of grenade.

Travis: Will the level cap increase with Mothership Zeta, and/or will there be new perks that involve alien technology?

Jeff Gardiner: There are new perks, but ..."

"Following the detailing of the eventual arrival of Fallout 3’s Downloadable Content (DLC) on PlayStation Network earlier this week, Bethesda Softworks has released updated information for the forthcoming Xbox 360 and PC release of Mothership Zeta, due for release on August 3rd for 800 Microsoft Points."

"Following our report earlier today that an announcement for the forthcoming PLAYSTATION 3 release of Downloadable Content (DLC) for Bethesda Softworks’ Fallout 3 would be coming soon, new information has been revealed this afternoon. Although lacking exact release dates, the update from Ashley Cheng, Production Director at Bethesda Softworks, reveals a change in that which was previously thought to be the strategy for release."

"The DLC was originally slated to have appeared on the PS3 with Operation Anchorage, the first pack released on Xbox 360 and PC, available at the end of June, with The Pitt and Broken Steel following with a four-to-six week break in between each. The DLC has obviously received an overall delay, though there’s nothing yet to raise suspicions that the second and third DLC packs won’t arrive after Operation Anchorage as intended."

IGN's 360 team has created a "Cheers & Tears" list comprising of 5 RPGs you should check out and 5 of them that your wallet should stay clear of. The Cheers section probably won't be much of a surprise to anyone, featuring Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fable II, Fallout 3, Mass Effect, and Lost Odyssey. The Tears list is made up of Dark Messiah, Phantasy Star Universe, Two Worlds of Might and Magic, Spectral Force 3, and The Last Remnant.

GameObserver.com conducted an interview with Ashley Cheng, Production Director at Bethesda. They asked him questions on the Gamebryo engine, why they prefer it over other engines and the advantages it presented while making Fallout 3.

Cheng also talks a bit about what inspired their designers while making Fallout 3, what is in store for the PS3 and elaborates on various other topics relating to their game design process.

Some nutter at cosplay.com has put together a fantastic Brotherhood of Steel set of Power Armor, complete with gatling gun. A few pictures are included here; more at the source if you're interested.

"Each and every part of Point Lookout is both challenging and interesting, and you come away with the impression that Bethesda's quality control has tightened up over the course of the year. As a whole, Point Lookout hangs together better than any previous Fallout 3 DLC pack, and as such comes highly recommended - yes, even for those of you who have grown weary of endless wasteland scavenging and VATS combat. With this release proving how entertaining a "mini expansion" can be, hopes are now r..."

Painter, James Barnett, has recreated some locales from video games with his paintbrush as part of his Fauxvism Series. The games featured in his paintings include Fallout 3, GTA IV, Half-life 2, and Team Fortress 2. Some of the paintings are instantly recognizable, while others might be a bit more obscure. If his style seems familiar, it's because his work imitates the Fauvism style of the famous French painter, Henri Matisse.

Fallout 3 has been going DLC crazy and it's not going to stop now. Bethesda Software brings it's fans something new once again with "Point Lookout" and it's looking very brutal

"Bethesda Softworks have today released six brand new screenshots for the forthcoming Fallout 3 Downloadable Content (DLC), Point Lookout. Due for release on June 23rd on both PC and Xbox LIVE! Marketplace, Point Lookout is Fallout 3’s fourth DLC offering."

Looks like you can get your hands on the latest Fallout 3 DLC, Point Lookout, a bit earlier than expected. The DLC is supposed to be released officially next Tuesday (June 23). However, Gamestop is already selling download tokens for $9.99 in stores and online. The tokens, themselves, work and people are already playing the new DLC.

Point Lookout, the fourth entry in the game's DLC, sends gamers off to explore the swampy wasteland in Maryland.

"On the heels of February’s launch of the annual Guinness World Records 2009 Gamer’s Edition, representatives were on hand at the E3 Expo this week to honour gaming publishers with brand new records.

Guinness World Record recipients included Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of the Mario franchise and more recently Wii Sports, who received the record for the Best Selling Video Game with sales of 45.7 million to date."

I personally apologize for bringing this episode of The Bender a day late, I have been working my butt off trying to get a Sacred 2 review out sooner than later. To make up for this, enjoy one of the crew being drunk as we discuss the game news of the week along with some E3 talk. Grab the mp3 directly here or off iTunes here.

"In addition, a new update will be released for PS3 that will allow users to download and play the new DLC. The release date for that update will be announced at a later date."

"There are lots of excellent reasons to want to blow up an RPG town. If you’re a villain, for example, you might level a place because it’s friendly to some resistance movement, or it’s in your way, or the heroes are stopping in briefly on their way to kill you. If you’re a game designer, you might do it to raise the stakes, or to give players some emotional reason to want the villain dead. And if you’re a player, it’s probably because you’re sick of listening to a bunch of cooki..."

Major Nelson has posted up the Live Activity for the week of May 11th, and with that comes some regulars, along with some .. weirdness... such as the fact that the UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo has made it's way on the top ten for the fourth week in a row! I played it, I don't get it, how is this on the list.. *shrugs shoulders*. Though being out a year and a half, as well as having a sequel, Call of Duty 4 continues to carry a high rank on the list :D

"Why would Zenimax and Bethesda buy the exclusive Fallout rights? Quite simply, ownership leverage. Acquiring the licensing rights allows Zenimax to set ludicrous conditions for Interplay and purposely led them to believe they would still be working on the MMO."

"Bethesda Softworks Europe has today announced that Fallout 3 Downloadable Content (DLC) is coming to PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3). In addition to this, a handful of extra additions have now been confirmed. All existing and currently-known Xbox 360 and PC expansions will make their way onto the PlayStation Store, with the details coming direct from Bethesda Softworks themselves"

"If Bethesda has ever had a project in the works that could rival the multi-award winning behemoth that is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fallout 3 is it. The previous titles in the series hadn’t been as anticipated or well known as the third instalment, in fact a great majority of post-Oblivion Bethesda fans probably hadn’t heard of Fallout. The first two instalments of the series were still RPGs, but more of the conventional kind; its trademarks being the turn based combat and the Birds..."

""We are going to make an announcement on a really big Wii game this year, we've got a couple of other things in the pipeline, and it's a format we're really looking at with the right approach," revealed Sean Brennan, managing director for Bethesda in Europe, in an exclusive interview published today.

"I've got consoles at home but I wouldn't sit and play an 18-rated game with my family on the Wii," he said. "Is there space in the Wii market for that? I think there is, but again, it's all a..."

"Religion. In real life, it’s all kneeling, self-reflection and guilt. In games, it’s all alien conspiracies, demon worship and craftily put together cults designed to rob us of our readies. The following faiths might all be deceitful, money-grabbing or just downright homicidal, but at least they’re exciting. And hell, adopt a positive attitude, take everything they say at face value and follow their orders blindly, and we might even make it through one of their sermons with all our limb..."

This morning, PC fans who downloaded the new Fallout 3: Broken Steel DLC were greeted with a nice error message resulting in a improper installation and game freezing.

Also, the Xbox 360 version is experiencing a bug whereby gamers cannot activate Project Purity, not to mention achievement problems.

Currently Bethesda are working on the issues but as time goes by, fans become more frustrated.

New Fallout 3 DLC will be available May 5 for the Xbox 360 and PC versions vis Xbox LIVE Marketplace and Games for Windows LIVE. As we near its launch, Bethesda drops 6 more screenshots from the "Broken Steel" pack, perhaps to exacerbate your fanboy-appetites.

Enjoy the shiny pictures.

"Launching on May 26th, 2009, the package has been dubbed Fallout 3 Game Add-On Pack: The Pitt and Operation Anchorage, as opposed to the UK title Fallout 3 Downloadable Content: The Pitt and Operation Anchorage, and also comes packaged with a free Vault Boy Poster."

This week, The Bender is a superb episode (a change from the normal, har har). We talk Fallout 3, user created content compensation, piracy, cosplay, we got it all. Get the mp3 right here. Or grab on iTunes right here.

"The two highly respectable Downloadable Content (DLC) packs for Bethesda Softworks’ Fallout 3 currently available for digital purchase are set to be released on a retail disc for both Xbox 360 and Games for Windows on May 29th, 2009, Electronic Theatre can today reveal."

The folks over at G4TV were lucky enough to get exclusive content for the new DLC content for Fallout 3, labeled Broken Steel! In the video, they also have an interview with Todd Howard, the executive producer from Bethesda Softworks. Emil Pagliarulo, the head designer at Bethesda, was also there to give his thoughts. Together they give us an idea of what to expect with the upcoming DLC content, including a higher level cap, new quests and more!

So I attend a day of the FX Show in Orlando FL representing Binge Gamer, on a mission to get geeks in costumes. I love this stuff. I must say, I think MegaCon was overall more impressive, but the Deadpool made up for this. Go to source to see pictures.

"Bethesda has today released the first batch of official screenshots for the upcoming FallOut 3 Downloadable Content (DLC) coming to the XboxLIVE! Marketplace for Xbox 360 very soon indeed, Broken Steel."

Bethesda has been screwing up a lot lately that isn't up for debate. All these mistakes have been causing gamers to vow not to purchase another Bethesda product again. This article is a closer look at that option and how stupid these gamers are for boycotting one of the best developers around.

"Fallout 3 expansion “The Pitt” is now here and I want to cry. I’m sorry to have to be the one to tell you this, but these are not tears of joy that are about to stream down my ruddy cheeks. These tears are equal parts disillusion, disappointment, and anger; disillusion with Bethesda, disappointment at the final result of all Fallout 3 DLC thus far, and anger at having completely wasted 800 Microsoft points."

"A few minor objectives and you’re taken on a journey to a completely disconnected – and entirely new – area, much like that in Operation Anchorage or Fable II’s Knothole Island. Lead by a man named Ashur who is unnervingly referred to as a God a few too many times, a huge team of Raiders keep slaves working in The Pitt – a job under which you will undoubtedly become tainted by radiation. Having a variety of effects – each one nastier than the last – those enslaved in The Pitt ha..."

Proof that Bethesda Software cares. Sorta.

As promised yesterday, they've fixed the problems with "The Pitt" DLC and returned it to Xbox LIVE. Feel free to download the new version without fear. And if you're worried because you've already paid for the DLC, rest assured you can re-download it any time for free from Marketplace (that's how it works with other paid DLC too, fyi).

The official Bethesda blog also had instructions for gamers who still have the old corrupted version...

As many of you, like me who have bought the DLC already will know that the DLC is extremely bugged and you cannot progress into The Pitt itself because of these bugs. The DLC itself is full of giant floating exclamation marks and when you eventually progress accross the bridge linked to The Pitt and try and enter, your game will just crash on a loading screen.

News is that the English version of the file itself has been somehow corrupted, more info at the source.

"The recently released Operation Anchorage downloadable content update for Fallout 3 will have to keep gamers entertained for longer than planned. Apparently, the next two content updates are both delayed by several weeks. When approached for comment, a Bethesda representative went on the record saying that, "the next DLC for Fallout 3, The Pitt, will be out in March. Broken Steel will be out the following month, in April.""

"Most fights end with more body parts on the floor than you'd find at a Halloween shop after an earthquake. If you don't use the game's targeting system (called the "Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System," or "V.A.T.S."), the violence is pretty realistic; but if you use the system, things get messy real quick. For example, the first time I encountered a human enemy, I decided that I'd aim for the legs and run rather than try to kill him; then, in slow motion, his legs blew apart and he landed ne..."

Binge Gamer's Intern Perry takes a look at the elements that make a game and provides a guide for future games to follow. "The area in which most of the Downloadable Content takes place is actually referred to by the game as a “simulation”, akin to that of Tranquility Lane, though obviously considerably more expansive. Players of a certain taste will no doubt recall an episode of classic British Sitcom Red Dwarf when finding themselves accepting the Outcast’s request, and the rules of balancing life-and-death remain here as in that particular episode – you die in the simulation, you die in reality. Of course,..."

"I'm pleased overall with what has been released. The changes in gameplay are refreshing and the challenge level which results from them make it a satisfying experience. It is not painfully difficult, just pleasantly so, and its running time of roughly three hours is long enough to be enjoyable without becoming monotonous. And some of the gear you acquire for having completed it is pretty damn cool too. If you enjoyed Fallout 3, this is a worthwhile investment."

"Operation Anchorage, then, through the simple fact that it is not as much fun as it the game it leeches upon, is not a resounding success. Of course, it could be argued that it's not supposed to feel like the full game and that all of my complaints are to do with its 'simulation' setting; but this is before we get round to the pricing. After all, 800 Microsoft Points (despite the best efforts of a turbulent economy) still comes in at the best part of seven quid. I played through the download,..."

"Criticism: #1: "Fallout 3" is just mediocre when judged as a first person shooter

Howard: Agreed.

***

Criticism #2: The ending isn't very satisfying and much shorter than other "Fallout" endings

Howard: Based on the feedback I've seen, most people are pissed off that it ends, not the 'ending' itself. Maybe that's one and the same, I don't know. That's another thing we're changing in DLC3 [downloadable content #3, "Broken Steel"]. We really underestimated how many people would want..."

Bethesda said this weekend the post-game downloadable content (DLC) for Fallout 3 will not be made available for PS3 owners, in keeping with the company's decision to not bring the Operation Anchorage content to the platform either. It being probably the biggest title of 2008, that certainly sends a message...

With this, AlleyInsider writer Eric Krangel examines what exactly is going on with Sony, and just how much trouble they seem to be in.

The top list of games sold this week has been released.

Wii - Wii Fit was in the top 3 of all regions. Mario Kart Wii and Wii Play were up in the top as well.

Xbox 360 - Call of Duty: World at War was at the top of North America and Europe, along with Gears of War 2. In Japan, Race Driver: GRID and Fallout 3 came out on top.

Playstation 3 - Littlebigplanet finished number one in both Europe and North America. Fallout 3 did well in Europe and Japan, as did Call of Duty: World at Wa...

Electronic Theatre hosts three new screens (the first three on the page linked) of FallOut 3's Downloadable Content, Operation Anchorage, released today.

The latest Fallout 3 patch 1.10 has been released (article) and it is causing some problems. Some players have not been getting required items, sometimes important ones like keys to important areas. Also there has been more freezing with the latest patch released. This is only happening on games that were starting before the patch, and is more likely to happen on the PS3.

Two pieces of good news have been announced by Bethesda Softworks today. Firstly is the announcement of a patch for the PS3, XBOX360 & PC version to fix various bugs (a full list of bugs fixed by the patch can be found in the quote section).

The second news release was the release date for the first downloadable content for Fallout 3 Operation: Anchorage which will be released on January 27th for 800 Microsoft Points ($9.99) on both the XBOX360 and PC.

Looks like the SDK has really moved things along -- Gamers Hell has posted up a mod pack for Fallout 3 which should offer a little more enjoyment to the game.

"Accurate Sniper Rifles" does the obvious, the "Amplified Crippled Effects" mod causes more serious effects upon crippling an enemy's body part, the "Inebriation" mod adds a drunken effect to consuming alcohol, and the "Better Companions and Caravans" item allows you to equip whatever you like on your party.

With the Fallout 3 DLC (exclusive for the XBOX360 and PC) making it's way later this month for 800 Points/$9.99, Bethesda have given us three new pictures to oogle at, and they are attached below. Be sure to also take a look at the images released for the DLC a couple weeks back.

""I’m most looking forward to the coming instalments of PlayStation series that haven’t seen a true next generation debut – namely God of War and Final Fantasy. Everything I’ve seen on the new Final Fantasy games has looked fantastic, and I feel faint when I think of the potential of a PS3 God of War game."
Gavin Carter, Lead Producer, Fallout 3, Bethesda Game Studios"

"So here we are, on the 3rd January 2009, the tenth day of Christmas. Yes, Christmas seems like a long time ago now, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still plenty of bargains to be had in those January sales – and that’s exactly what The Twelve Games of Christmas is here for! A feature series running every day of the twelve days of Christmas, in The Twelve Games of Christmas Electronic Theatre runs through the greatest achievers in the videogaming year of 2008, month-by-month. Today bein..."

"Well what a year 2008 was! Certainly a bountiful year full of quality gaming. Will 2009 be as good or better, despite the world-wide recession and the loss of game studios and gaming related jobs?

What will be the big stories of 2009?

With that still to be determined, we have dug into our archives to dust off some of the stories we brought to you over the last year. You may have missed them with all that gaming, or you may want to see if the stories are still relevant now that the y..."

"Well, the year 2008 is finally at an end and though there were disappointments, many games lived up to the hype. The decision to make a Top 5 Games list instead of a Top 10 list was rooted in the fact that there were so many great games that it was tough for the staff to develop a consensus past the first five. Plus, the longer the list, the more you start to get all political with it and say crap like, "Boy, we need another game from x console in there." So here they are, our top five games ..."

"After 12 months of playing and enjoying as many games as possible, it’s time to take a break, look back and choose the best of the best - the best 10 games of the year 2008. As you can imagine, it’s a really tough mission, especially because the overall quality of the games released this year was pretty high (there were exceptions, of course), but we must choose the game of the year here, at the Unigamesity!"

"December is that special time of year when gaming websites all over the Internet begin to create their 'favorite games' and 'best of' lists and, as to not be left out in the cold we are doing the same thing. So read on for blatant un-original content Shogunites...

...Bethesda Game Studios began preliminary work on the third installment of Interplay's classic franchise in 2004, about a year after project 'Van Buren' was canceled. 'Van Buren' was the codenamed given to Fallout 3 when it was ..."

"An object's visual design and intended purpose should work together. And while this may seem like common sense, many developers fail to recognize the need to follow such concept. This is most evident in open world games like Mass Effect and Grand Theft Auto 4. Most if not all open world games can fall into two categories, beautiful and aimless or ugly and purposeful."

"We're just fiending for Santa crap around this time of year so why don't more game companies take advantage of our sentimentality with special DLC? Here's five pieces of downloadable content we'd love to see next December"

So the gang here has held elections and are announcing our picks for games of the year. I am a bit disappointed some of my picks including Valkyria Chronicles (sleeper of the year IMHO), Braid, Mirrors Edge and The Witcher Collectors Edition didn't make the list along with Dead Space and an honorable mention for the episodic format of SIREN on PSN. That said, seeing Fallout 3 at # 1 made my year! GOTY folks, truly is.

"We look at the top 12 games from several platforms in order to determine which are the Top 12 Overall Games for 2008, and you might just be surprised at the ‘overall’ winner for 2008 - coming from an Xbox site. OXCGN (aka XboxOZ360-gamer) has always maintained that the staff are “gamers” - not fanbois. Most have more than 2 consoles and platforms to play games on and simply enjoy ‘gaming’ period.

So what better way to round off the year than to take a look at what we believe to be th..."

Yes, I can be lazy, and a broken record so rather than writing a fanboy and rant filled 4-word page document of a blog story to bore you all, I had one of our better writers do a shorthand version. Here are a few mods I downloaded this weekend (as I worked on my Grampy Bone mod) that are essential for PC Fallout 3 players.

They make the game more dynamic, interesting, and less "dumbed-down-for-console-users."

It's certainly far sooner than you'd have thought, but patch 1.10 has been released for Fallout 3, and bringing with it are trophies for the game. Seeing how the trophies were just announced a few days ago, it's definitely a pleasant surprise.

OXCGN writer looks at the history of Fallout the series. The changes, what is new, what is missing, the changes and the additions.

Includes a 15 min history of the franchise that is well worth watching by any gamer wanting to know more about this excellent game.

So head on over to the site now and check it out, when you compare our games of today to the ones of "yesteryear" - most gamers will stop complaining - hopefully.

A nice quick and to the point write up from Primotech that includes all the winners from the show on top of some random news blips (such as Pearl Jam's full album Ten coming to Rock Band, Brutal Legend confirmed for 2009, GTAIV DLC trailer, Gears 2 maps coming, Fight Night Round 4 coming 2009). See quote for full list of winners, go to source to see some more news from the event.

As stated before Fallout 3 getting trophy support there hasn't been much news regarding trophy's from Bethesda since then. Well at least they gave the list of trophy's which, as usual, mirrors the 360 achievements. Check source for the full listings of Trophys, and see below for a handful trophies that you may have seen already as achievements.

As to when we can expect to see a patch, well your guess is as good as anyone's. But at least we know it isn't a rumour.

REJOICE PC Fallout 3 players! It is only a matter of time before some clever modders (hopefully including yours truly) start releasing the goods with new content. You can find info about the GECK in the quote and the link goes directly to the official BethSoft download page for the applet.

NOTE: Also check the related links. I'll add the link to the official wiki/tutorial page.. just in case: http://geck.bethsoft.com/index.php/Main_Page

Electronic Theatre hosts a selection of brand new screenshots of FallOut 3's recently announced downloadable content released by Bethesda Softworks this morning.

My head has literally exploded. (hence the image for this story)

I have been taking my sweet sweet time with this game and enjoying every nook and cranny (took a break from main quest after the Jefferson Memorial fiasco). This is amazing news and an incentive to at least beat the game once before getting these addons. (*sigh, I guess it is time to stop collecting loot and finish the main quest)

OXCGN writer takes a long look at the continuation of the franchise with this out - Fallout 3. Billed as the most loved post-apocalyptic game in thegenre', it's hard not to be somewhat excited about it.

It has certainlyhad my little mind going sincethe moement I saw the first actual screen-shots some time ago. Being able to have the control over your destiny , even from within the Vault is brilliant, and judging from the review, it will make a nice addition to anyones game collection.

Some of you are probably sick of me by now and my bragging about why I love getting the PC versions of some "specific" titles as opposed to the 360, PS3 versions (also have a Wii, but she is collecting dust).

X-Play has a video up detailing the best games of 2008. Sure, it ain't over yet, but it seems like the best of it done with. Oddly, Fable II wins game of the year, but is beaten by Fallout 3 for RPG of the year. Huh?

Other categories include Best Handheld Game, Best Action/Adventure Game, and Best Music/Rhythm Game.

We all know of the news that Elder Scrolls V will be hitting the shelves by 2010 and even a Fallout 4 before 2018 but it seems people are somewhat confused by all this.

Many people around the internet are worried that Bethesda Softworks are going to rush ESV due to having only a two year gap between the release of Fallout 3 and the alleged release date of ESV. This is not the case and allow me to explain but in order to do that, you must first understand the concept that Beth Soft employs ...

Considering that Chaumetemoc confessed to being a Fallout-holic in another news article, I decided to post this on Gamegrep as well as my blog since usually I just submit videos and be done with them.

To summarise, there are five videos of me as my female character, Gaen. An evil seductress whom doesn't think twice about killing someone. Due to reloading an earlier save since I had gone too far ahead in order to re-enact the youtube video of using 40 mines to kill Tenpenny on his balcony, ...

With nothing to do other than surf the web, I decided to check in on my favourite games developer only to find this little gem in the Beth Blog area. Now you are wondering why I am calling it gem when it is merely Beth Soft rounding up articles about Fallout 3. Well it also features our very own Gamegrep and none other than one of Krunal's stolen great article about the "Fallout Dream"

Among this, the blog also gives an incite to Todd Howard's release day rituals, gathers up several review...

"When we sit down for a round of gaming with our console or PC of choice, we're usually on the look-out for extreme action, non-stop thrills and a sophisticated story. One thing we never expected to see was sex. But as the average age of the gaming audience grows ever higher, interactive entertainments are tackling more grown-up topics like the beast with two backs in a variety of different ways. Some games play it for humor, some use it as a plot motivator, and others let you fornicate just f..."

Sub-Zero of unrealitymag.com has created a top list for... real estate? Yes that's right, they've made a top list concerning the ten places you'd not want to consider living in.

With a steady theme of violence being a major deterrent, Silent Hill took out first place. This was followed by Raccoon City of Resident Evil and Megaton of Fallout 3.

Read on to see the pros and cons for each!

Here are the top 20 best selling games for all formats, week ending November 29. Mario Kart Wii maintains an impressive #4 spot despite being on just one platform and having been out since April, and Fallout 3 enters at #13. Meanwhile Call of Duty: World at War is at #1 again this week.

Timeslip, not a name known to many unless you play Bethesda Softwork games like me and more specifically PC versions of each. After scurrying around the RSS feeds of the Beth Blog, a blog kept by Bethesda Softworks to, well ramble while keeping the public informed that they are actually working and that they are human beings like us, I had found this little gem which Beth Soft have been doing for awhile.

Modder Interviews does exactly what its name says, the company takes time to regard th...

Just a few moments ago within the PS3 forum of Fallout 3, I noticed a discussion about a glitch that gets you free experience due to taking advantage of not able to kill children in the game.

Now a member reported a bug with this glitch that causes you to be "thrown into another world before being frozen to the spot and not able to move".

This got me thinking to a few of my experiences within the world of Fallout 3. You see no matter what game I play I always have two saves handy, a leg...

It is no surprise that when the name, Bethesda Softworks is mentioned that instantly the words, construction set, modding and platform envy come to mind. It is very well known knowledge that the company encourage gamers to modify the very game they are playing and even present gamers with their very own editing tool that comes with the game.

This time however, Beth Soft have taken a different method towards modding. Instead of releasing the editing tool with the game upon release like they...

Since the day the Playstation 3 released, Gamespot has made it their job to show us the graphical difference between multiplatform games on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. With Fallout 3's release a few weeks back, many gamers are eagerly awaiting the downloadable content for the game - at least those that own the game on a PC or on the XBOX360 are. Today Bethesda Softworks announces the first of downloadable content will be releasing soon.

In fact, expect to see a Creation Kit Editor available in December, followed by three Downloadable Content packs available in January, February and the final set available in March.

"The setting for Fallout 3 is amazing, just like you would imagine a post-nuclear America; houses burnout, debris and rusted metal littering the cities, and skeletons cropping up every now and then. Some cities and settlements look pretty awesome but a sense of repetitiveness soon kicks in after a few hours of gameplay."

"Historically, the Fallout franchise has rested quite comfortably on its RPG laurels. Players not only loved the rich, ironic, post-apocalyptic landscape that they were provided to explore, but many also found that the exhaustive selection of choices in the game provided a unique voice for nearly every player. Whether you wanted to sell your companions into slavery, or bring down the local gangs in New Reno, there were plenty of dialog options to cover the gamut of emotive responses. Some play..."

"Developer Bethesda has made changes to the Japanese Fallout 3.

The side-quest The Power of the Atom has been changed. Non-playable-character Mr. Burke has been taken out of this side-quest, removing the option of detonating the nuclear bomb. Bethesda has a lot to celebrate, especially with the successful launch of their newest title, Fallout 3, which did amazingly well, with total sales surpassing the 300 million dollar mark not too long ago, according to a recent press release from Bethesda Entertainment.

This is in addition to news that it was the top seller in the UK and also surpassed both sales of all it's predecessors combined and Oblivion, the game which was another of Bethesda's largest hits and which contains many of...

Inon Zur, the mind behind the music in Fallout 3, talked to Music IGN about what went into the music of Fallout 3 behind the scenes. If you are interested in learning inspirations for the Fallout 3 songs you've heard while playing the game or want to catch up with how they were created, or the process behind it, checking out IGN's interview with the composer of Fallout 3 might be worth it to you!

"Let's get this issue out of the way first: yes, Fallout 3 is a "true" Fallout game. No, it's not made by Interplay, the graphics look better than an elementary school diorama, and the combat isn't turn-based. A ten-year hiatus and a new developer is bound to result in a few changes to the formula but make no mistake, this is a Fallout game through and through."

"Overall, the game is fantastic and there is no reason why you shouldn't pick it up - particularly if you are an RPG fan (although judging by the launch sales, most of you already have it!). However, that isn't to say that the game is perfect, and indeed there are some drawbacks to be found. Many of the reviews that have come out for the game seem to have willingly overlooked these aspects, which makes it all the more important that we here at Gaming Verdict cover them for you."

It only fixes some minor things, but VideoGamer has a patch up for the PC version of Fallout 3. The version is 1.0.0.15, and it's a 6.59 MB download. Enjoy!

"In Britain, Fallout 3's first week sales were 57% higher than those of Oblivion. Additionally, the sales outnumber those of every previous Fallout game, including spin-offs such as Tactics, combined. 55% of copies were sold to Xbox 360 owners, 28% to Sony sorts, and 17% to the PC crowd.

The launch also managed to dethrone Fable II; Quantum of Solace: The Game debuted at number seven, while Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 appeared at fifteen."

SciFi has tossed out a new review for the recently released Fallout 3, an apocalyptic futuristic RPG. They gave it good marks for trying to follow it's predecessors and bringing some new things to the table, but not bringing what past engines and systems used which were good to the table. Overall, the lack of anything really negative seems to have been a stable platform for the mark which has been given -- still an excellent one!

GamingShogun reviews Fallout 3, for the PC, calling it 'unmistakeably Fallout' and generally praising its immersive qualities. They do, however, note that the AI can be spotty in certain situations. Fallout 3 is the first Fallout game created by Bethesda Softworks and is based on the original Fallout and Fallout 2, both of which were post-apocalyptic role-playing games. Fallout 3, however, has been developed in the first-person style.

After everyone slagging it off, saying "no,no,no", Pete Hines has announced that the PS3 will be getting a well awaited trophy patch but there is no indication as of when apart from "it wont be soon."

Still less than a week after release, another review, this time straight from Extra Ammo. Fallout 3 has been picking up some excellent scores and even a magnificent 10 on Eurogamer.net, but a 9 is still very respectable.

What do gamers do when people in America are going to the booths to vote? They hold their own elections, for video game characters of course!

Take your pick from the likes of Sackboy, Tom Nook... and even 12-Pack! Even gamers like a good old beer now and then, right? Each candidate has a badge, their promises and their slogan.

So who gets your vote?

Such was the case today in IGN's review of Fallout 3. They chopped up a paragraph fairly well, without stating their reasoning for doing so. Could it have been a complaint from someone from Bethesda that caused the truncation of the paragraph? Or was it merely because the details in the original review were inaccurate?

We are not sure. Here is the original ..."

Just a few days ago Daigoji_Gai and the crew over at UGO had a chance to get up close and personal with a 7ft tall Brotherhood of Steel statue. Well, Sam's club in the US has a limited offer of 1 (one) single statue up for grabs to the highest bidder.

The auction is set to last for 13 days and so far the highest bidder is at $150. The auction started off earlier at $1 and with 13 days left there's a lot of room for more bids! I mean, if a custom MGS4 PS3 can sell for $17,000 what about a 7...

So I've had the PS3 version of Fallout 3 for some time but couldn't say anything because of the press embargo. I honestly stopped playing once Fable 2 came out because I fond myself longing a keyboard and mouse and larger/sharper textures + cooler particle effects. Sure enough, last night I was up until 4AM playing this game on my PC and running on a dual 512 8800 Sli setup, the game was silky smooth, no hiccups and gorgeous. Plus, being able to use the mouse to actually navigate the terminal...

"At its heart, Fallout 3 is an enigma ready to be unravelled. Through intrepidly envisioning the series as their own, Bethesda has crafted an experience that resonates in a new age. Perhaps the combat lacks identity and punch, but much of this wholly realized vision is intrinsically tied to your sense of place and your weight on a ravaged world. Another triumph of first person narrative, along every step of your journey the remnants of a million tragic tales lay at your feet. Now the choice is..."

Bethesda Softworks has given Neoseeker a copy of Fallout 3 for the PS3 as well as a Vault Dweller's Survival Guide. Being the expert vault dwellers that we are, Neoseeker will be offering one lucky winner a chance to win this awesome package.

The contest is very simple, just pick some colors! Ok, it might be a bit more complicated than that but it's just as easy! All you need to do is come up with a 'theme' for the Fallout 3 forums. We've even provided you with a template to help get you s...

In today's modern age, it seems absurd that one person can hold up a democracy. Especially when what they are holding up, is something that would help 'protect children' not harm them.

It seems that is the case for Australian gamers, who's average age is now 30yrs old, yet the highest game rating available is just MA15+. Meaning many 18+ games either get banned or worse, censored. Some publishers don't even bother taking their games to Australia - Shellshock 2 is just one example.

It seems that Fallout 3 is going down a storm, at least in terms of review scores. Check out what everyone has to say by following the links below. All that's left to do is buy it. So do.

"Mandatory installs come from complications developers meet when switching from DVD to Blu-ray. Blu-rays have more space, but they have a different way of reading data that causes longer loading times when given exactly the same data DVDs use. Installs fix the problem, at a cost, but alternative methods are being devised. Fallout 3 has enough space on the Blu-ray disc to copy the game's assets over more than once on the disc, which reduces load times significantly. This kind of innovation is n..."

"As reported in an opinion piece here last week, Fallout 3, despite being schedule for release in India, got canceled. Sony obviously knew something about the game that Microsoft did not before deciding to release it there, and now we all know what that something is.

Cows."

A couple of days ago, it was announced that a good time between the next Fallout game release, Fallout 3, and Fallout 4, would be three or four years, meaning we could expect it no later than 2012, or, if we were lucky, 2011.

In a recent email to Edge, Peter Hines, the man behind that comment, has said instead that he felt that 10 years was too long and that the wait between the two games is liable to be less.

Over at the Cinema Make-up School in LA, the web series titled 'Monster Makeover' lets you watch some talented artists turn people into horrible creatures that are found in video games. In the first video, they are using Left 4 Dead.

After each episode is put up, everyone has a chance to enter the 'Spine-Tingling' Sweepstakes, which gives you a prize package that includes an Elite version of the 360.

Looks like Microsoft is just in time for Halloween.

With the economy crashing down and people losing their jobs, gamers in October and Christmas won't be able to buy that extra game they could before. With so many highly anticipated games coming out, (LittleBigPlanet, Fallout 3, etc) you probably won't be able to play every one you want.

Whenever you scrounge up some extra money for games, is it really worth playing if you can't experience it to the fullest?

"Here’s the statement from Microsoft India:

Microsoft constantly endeavors to bring the best games to Indian consumers in sync with their international release. However, in light of cultural sensitivities in India, we have made the business decision to not bring Fallout 3 into the country.

Games fail to release in India for various reasons - high prices, lack of distribution - but “cultural sensitivities” is a first, it would seem. With games like Postal, Bioshock, Grand Theft Aut..."

"Blend Games’ Editor Pete Haas would probably automatically tip his hat in favor of Fallout 3, as he really digs the game. And I’m sure everyone who doesn’t know about Borderlands would also tip their hat in favor of Fallout 3. But before anyone does any hat tipping, let’s take a look at both games and each set of screenshots."

"It never fails: every time I get an open-world game, I follow the missions for a little bit, but then wind up ignoring the storyline and simply running around testing the limits of the world. When playing Grand Theft Auto, I tend to just see how high I can get the police radar and then survive as long as I can. That's fun for a few hours, but after I get done, I really feel no reason to return.. The same goes for Assassin's Creed. I made it to the very first town, and after doing a few assass..."

So I was shocked when I heard all the commotion and received an AIM message to head over to the lunch room for a photo opportunity. Bethesda sent us one of the Brotherhood of Steel Power Armor statues popping up at retail outlets across the country. Pictures included, enjoy!

Could Bethesda really have fallen so far? French magazine CanardPC certainly seem to think so. In a review (but technically a preview for some reason I don't quite understand) of Fallout 3, the reviewer as well as making several snide remarks about the company's treatment of him brutally bashes the game. From the level design to the colour pallet he barely mentions a single positive thing. Rather strange considering the almost universally positive impressions.

"We here at XboxOZ360-gamer are all quite excited about Bethseda’s upcoming Fallout 3. Here are our top 5 reasons that you should share our excitement.

5 Reasons To Be Excited . .

5. Classic series revitalized.

The fallout series has a massive following and they are definitely classics by anyone’s standards. Yet understandably they are fairly dated and not really suited to the current generation of gamers’ desires, so the series being revitalized by the kings of the sandbox rpg gen..."

Bethsoft's Fallout 3 is now gold! This means it is in pressing and will be shipping to its respective destinations on time (not baring any shipping malfunction, but I am crossing my fingers). Fallout 3 is a post-nuclear action-shooter/RPG set in the aftermath of a global nuclear war. You emerge from one of many underground vaults to find that a new life awaits you in the wastelands.

"In case you don’t know, that image above is what the inside of the DC metro system (subway in New York, the T in Boston, the underground in London) looks like. Also, in case you didn’t know, Fallout 3 takes place in a post-apocalyptic Washington DC in which much of the population lives in underground vaults. Now that you know those two facts you might start thinking how much the DC metro system looks like a futuristic underground vault. Turns out you wouldn’t be the only ones."

"" Quests are quite varied and go beyond the mere extermination of everything that shows up on screen. You'll have for instance to go through several tests for someone who is writing a survival guide, which includes getting exposed to considerable amounts of radiation, steal the Constitution of the USA in order to avoid anti-slavers getting their hands on it, or getting involved in huge military operations with dozens of belligerent parties. Everybody will get his share, with different ways..."

The Nuclear Bomb is about to explode as the Fallout approaches. Releasing on October 28th, Fallout 3 is almost ready for mass production and in the words of Bethesda Softworks Pete Hines we learn more about the final stages of the post-apocalyptic RPG.

Be also to watch the video at the source of the interview.

Bethesda's Pete Hines has done yet another interview regarding Fallout 3, this time talking about DRM, censorship, and bringing the game to PC versus consoles.

His feeling on having had to change the name of Morphine in the game, is it doesn't bother him, and it shouldn't really bother anyone else. "I mean, who gives a--", were his words.

As for the DRM, they're going the minimalist route with it, as they did with Oblivion.

More on these topics and others through the source.

"Oblivion had tons of girlie things for me to do. I could pick pretty flowers, collect pretty crystals and buy pretty clothes. Fallout 3 is distinctly un-pretty, but what did you expect from an irradiated post-apocalyptic Earth? The only flowers you’ll find here contain death, and you can forget those fancy brocade gowns.

After being filled in by Manfriend, I was able to take a look at Fallout 3 and judge for myself if it has more in common with Oblivion than it does with Fallout. And after..."

Yet more screens for Bethesda's Fallout 3 have popped up, showin' some shootin', creepin, landscapes, enemies, environments, dialogue, and the battle systems. More are through the alternate source.

Fallout 3 is coming to you shortly: October 28.

"The wonderful thing about doing previews of Fallout 3 is that there’s seemingly no end to the new content that players can discover. Behind every rock, in every metal container, and under every stretch of post-nuclear Washington DC lies some new (though not always valuable) tidbit of content that waits expectantly for the player to stumble in its direction. Fallout 3 is shockingly--almost affrontingly--huge. And the whole game is all the more boggling when facts come to light like the recent..."

Pelaajalehti.com recently held a poll for their people to decide the most beautiful video games of all time. Not all of the top ten received a warm welcome, with people believing many voters just chose their favourite or latest hype as opposed to the most beautiful games.

Is it your top ten?

"For Borderlands it’s a bit different coming into the plot and unfolding the story. The entire scope of the way the story unfolds involve what’s happening on the planet and its inhabitants. Within the macrocosm of Borderlands’ main story resides the individual, branching narratives for each of the three main characters. In other words, this is one of those grand-fantastic adventures that could be a huge summer blockbuster."

So, there is this entire generation of gamers that never played the original two Fallout Games (Tactics doesn't couint, and the craptacular PS2 title dubbed Brotherhood of Steel... we won't even mention that)... So the gang at UGO decided to highlight some of their favorites to get people up to speed on the people and places they may encounter in Fallout 3.

Interplay, the previous owners of the Fallout franchise before it was sold to Bethesda have announced on there website that they are developing a Fallout MMO. Apparently retaining the rights to create a Massive Multiplayer Online game based on the IP. It is early days yet but the company is already hiring new and old developers as production ramps up.

1 Wii sports
2 Braid
3 Halo 3
4 Fallout 3
5 Rockband

A very interesting list indeed. Recently a newspaper in the UK named the Independent released their list of the top 50 games of all time, above is the top five.

Their number one choice was Wii Sports, is this a joke? The inclusion of Halo3 makes some sense, but are there not many better games that should've made the top 5?

"Bethesda just launched the full version of PreparefortheFuture.com, which is packed full of gameplay footage, mock tourist vids and talking buildings. And it pretty much rocks. You can check it out on the site, or below. Either way, you’re preparing for nuclear holocaust in a fun (and most importantly safe!) manner."

"Just before the launch of their games, Bethesda holds an intra-office speed run to see who can get from the beginning to the end of the main quest the fastest. The two finalists for this year’s competion, in honor of the impending release of Fallout 3, were Jim Browne, a level designer for the game, and Sam Bernstein, a QA tester."

Bethesda are world renowned for their Elder Scrolls series. And hopefully again when Fallout 3 is released soon. But Bethesda are already looking ahead, their next project? A MMO.

Today in a press release today ZeniMax the owners of Bethesda stated that they were recruiting talented developers for the next big MMO. Is this a continuation of the Elder Scrolls Saga? Or even Fallout? Maybe even a new IP all together? Only time will tell.

"That leaves the unwashed masses, gamers who never delighted in the fruits of Interplay's Fallout and Fallout 2. Sure, they'll enjoy killing mutants and barking orders at the in-game dog, but will they really pick up on the underlying narrative, one built on several hundred years of fictional history? We honestly cannot say, but our nights are spent gripped in cold terror for the lot of you. Not really, but it sounds much more dramatic that way. In any event, every Fallout survivor knows that ..."

"There’s been a lot of talk in the blogosphere about changes that were made to Fallout 3 so that the game wasn’t banned in certain territories (most notably Austraila). It was revealed yesterday afternoon by 1up.com that the changes made to the game would be made across all territories, so as to not create confusion, but what changes, specifically? I shot a note to Pete Hines, VP of Marketing and PR at Bethesda, to find out just what was changed."

Christmas is almost around the corner, and as with every Christmas, the best games are looking to be released in time for parents to go out and buy their kids games. However, GamerChip who previously stated that there may be too many games being released for christmas, have now put together a list of games that they think will succeed and some that they believe will fail. Lets take a look at a few of them...

VE3D.com has procured 20 "raw" minutes of footage from the highly anticipated Fallout 3. Complete with narration, this should pretty much prove that it is in face "Oblivion with guns" - as it was claimed to be.

For many, this will probably put you over the fence to purchase (if there was any shadow of a doubt in your mind)

You can find five videos at the link.

"Bethesda’s Vice President of Marketing Pete Hines has confirmed that the PlayStation 3 version of Fallout 3 will not include Trophy support when the game hits stores later this year, but did not rule out the possibility of the feature being added at a later date.

"Not at launch," said Hines, during an interview with PSU.com to be published later today.

"It remains to be seen what we do down the road. It wasn't something we were able to incorporate into the game for launch."

With Fal..."

"Once your vision adjusts to the strange luminescence of the outside world, the battered landscape of Washington D.C. comes into full scope. The land stretches for miles; a vast city shorn of its order and prominence, but something rugged and beautiful has been born from the chaos. There is an unsettling calm in this seemingly derelict wasteland."

GameInformer, the popular magazine about all things gaming that has somewhere near three million subscribers, always has a different game on the cover each time. MTV wanted to see if there was a GI cover curse, so they looked back into the past and pulled out magazines from 2-3 years ago.

One game titled Superman Returns didn't so well, receiving 6/10's. That's nothing compared to Fear and Respect, which was at one point on a GI cover, but ended up being canceled!

""Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax Media company, announced today that its highly anticipated title, Fallout® 3, will be available on store shelves and online in North America on October 28, 2008 and in Europe on October 31, 2008. With Fallout 3's release date drawing closer, us fans just keep chomping on the bit for more information. Today at the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany, Bethsoft unveiled three new screenshots from the upcoming action-RPG.

After the controversy of GTA IV and the edited version released in Australia, the Office of Film and Literature Classification denied Fallout 3 a classification due to it's portrayal of drug use. Instead of just wising and and admitting that an 18+ rating is needed in Australia the board seem content to butcher the 'serious' parts out of new games.

Almost four minutes of new Fallout 3 gameplay footage for you, as shown during the Bravo Channel's TV show Playr's.

The Fallout 3 Australian saga is over, the revised vision has been submitted to the OFLC and has been accepted. In short nothing major has been lost, at least from what we can see. The Drug icons on your menu have been changed and you don't actually see your character inject them anymore. Rather a dumb thing to refuse classification for a game huh?

We first found out that Fallout 3 was going to banned in Australia. Later, we found out that The Office Of Film And Literature Classification was working to make a friendlier version of the game. We now know the rating:

Fallout 3 has passed the classification process, receiving a MA15+ for "Strong violence, drug references and coarse language". To view the rating on the official classification website, click here.

The Game Critics have announced their E3 2008 awards for this year and there are some pretty interesting winners, with Fallout 3 taking the "Best of Show" award, Mirror's Edge taking "Best Original Game", and LittleBigPlanet getting the "Best Console Game" award. To view all of their awards, hit the source. If you wanna check out the nominees, click here.

Three more screens to whet your Fallout 3 appetite before the game comes out October 7 (October 3 if you're in Europe), depicting a sentry, some kind of helicopter, and a wasteland town.

Whilst in London to promote Fallout 3, Bethesda Softworks project manager Peter Hines stated whilst talking to TechRadar, "We didn’t buy the Fallout franchise to just do Fallout 3 and then stop. But let’s get this one out of the door before we worry about the next one."

In addition to this he went on to state that the Xbox360 is the main console that Bethesda will be working on with Fallout 3 for the launch as they claim it is the system that they are more familiar with.

The people over at Game Critics have announced their E3 nominees! The awards contain categories with the games that are up for nomination, such as the best PC game, best console game, best handheld game, and tons more! To check out all of their nominations, hit the source!

Last week on Australian TV, the ABC's Q&A program featured a number of politicians debating whether or not the country needs an R18+ rating for video games. The general consensus was that an 18+ rating should not be allowed and that any game worthy of the rating should continue to be banned or, at the very least, censored.

In an interesting turn of events, the ABC's official website has pointed out the ridiculousness of the politicians' argument, stating that it is "outrageous" that games ...

Fallout 3 is nearing release and people on all three of the platforms it is scheduled to arrive on are naturally getting excited. But should PS3 gamers?

In a recent interview Bethesda’s Peter Hines said that while downloadable content will be coming to the 360 and PC, none will come to the PS3. Saying "We felt it was the right thing to do for Fallout 3"

This isn't the first time either, Bethesda pulled a similar stunt with the PS3 version of Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, were they refused...

With Fallout 3 coming along GotGameTV have managed to interview Pete Hines as well as take a look at the gameplay from the game. Go to the source and view the video now.

So admittedly, E3 2008 was a disappointment for all this year, but that isn't to say that there weren't some great games on show. Resident Evil 5, Gears of War 2 and Resistance 2 all made an appearance, but was it enough for them to claim the title of Best of E3 ?

Fallout 3 is the latest game to be banned in Australia because they do not have anything close to a mature rating. Many other games have been banned as well. Michael Atkinson, who is the Attorney General of South Australia, thinks an 18+ shouldn't be allowed in Australia because the games are "interacting" with the children.

"Cramming 100 hours of RPG goodness into a 3 minute demo is probably the worst way to tease gamers and fans of the Fallout series. However, we take what we can get, and what we have here is one of the most beautiful looking demos ever."

During the E3 Mircosoft Press Conference, Todd Howard, the executive producer for Bethesda Softworks, revealed that Fallout 3 will have DLC exclusively for the PC and 360. Howard went on to say that Bethesda "loves the XBLM" and that they will be doing "substantial" DLC content exclusively for the 360 and PC.

A week ago there was a rumor floating around the 'net that Fallout 3 had been banned in Australia. Well that rumor has just been confirmed and the game HAS been banned. Why? Yes, it was because of the drugs. The voilence, gore and cannibalism was fine. But the use of drugs was not. Talk about getting your priorities wrong!

"IGN AU: What did you learn from making Oblivion? What didn't work?

Pete Hines: There's no giant 'we can't ever do that again' stuff. It's more how do we design quests, what kind of choices do we let the player make, how do we account for things we think the player might try and do and anticipate those? So that they're like 'Oh, I wonder what happens when I do this?' And then there's actually something in the game that acknowledges it and takes it into account. And they go 'that's really co..."

It appears us Australians are going to miss out on yet another game this year because of our lack of a R rating for videogames. The latest casualty is Fallout 3.

But it isn't for the violence or swearing, but because the main character can use morphine as a stimulant, which people under 18 seemingly can't handle. Excuse me, I'm going to go become a drug addict now.

Courtesy of Bethesda, here are three new screens from the forthcoming action-RPG Fallout 3, which we'll have late this year. Looking pretty solid and gritty, just the way ya like it.

"Fallout 3 is downright misleading. How so? Spin Offs have occured: see Fallout Tactics, (but do not see Fallout Brotherhood of Steel). If any of those games were called Fallout 3, god help me, we would not have to have this debate. This game is no different. Besides mythology there is no similiarity. My envisioning of Fallout 3 is that it should have the same isometric view, but take advantage of all that fancy smancy technology of now - I am talking about blood stains that stay forever, the ..."

"This ultimate Fallout 3 package includes a life-size replica of the Pip-Boy 3000, the wrist-mounted device worn by characters in-game. The Pip-Boy 3000 has been painstakingly recreated and modified for real world display as a digital clock. In addition to the Pip-Boy 3000, the Survival Edition will include all of the items included in the Fallout 3 Collector's Edition..."

""At least when Microsoft developed Halo Wars, an RTS, they didn't call it Halo 4, because its a different game that uses the Halo world. Same goes with Fallout 3, they should call it “Fallout V.A.T.S.” (the added 'Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System), something that's unique about this particular game. Don't ruin a great series by mixing genres and titles.""

With respect to the previous details released about the Fallout 3 Collectors Edition, Bethsoft have today released pictures of the contents of the very same Limited Edition box set.

The game is set to be released on 7th October 2008

With RPG fans eagerly awaiting, Bethesda have been fortunate enough to give us one more glimpse of the next in the Fallout franchise - Fallout 3. Three screenshots release today show much detail as well as another 'Statistics' screen from the game.

In recent News, It seems the realistically shocking artwork of a destroyed Washington D.C has been used to illustrate terrorist agenda towards the U.S.A and Britain. The image was found on a Video located on two Websites and was believed to originate from the Al-qaeda group, the Terrorist search Group SITE at first claimed the artwork to have been created by the terrorists, but then were then suprised to find out that said image was actually Made by Bethesda Softworks, the Developers of Fallo...

"As part of our Fallout 3 coverage, TheGameReviews.com was lucky enough to sit down with Pete Hines of Bethesda Software while he showed us a walkthrough of the latest build of Fallout 3. While they were showing us this amazing looking game, TheGameReviews.com thought it would be a good idea to ask what can we expect achievements wise with the 360 version. Bethesda told us that:

“You cannot get them all on one play through. That we are doing some things with Karma and different levels of ..."

The Game Fallout 3 has now got some new Gameplay footage. Also including Demo's on the Game-Play.

It is said if one If one was to make a quick summation of Fallout 3 it would run along the lines of “a pumped up Oblivion in a toxic wasteland with a 1950's futuristic spin on everything.” That conjures up all sorts of different images but one thing it looks like Bethesda has done is remain faithful to the feel of the old Fallout games.

More info in Quote.

"Most PlayStation 3 owners are fully aware of this growing trend of the mandatory install. Several of the most popular games to date have required the gamer to sit and wait for 5-10 minutes while a certain amount of data is stored on the hard drive. Grand Theft Auto IV, Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds and Devil May Cry 4 are just three recent examples.

So we're used to it. But that doesn't mean every major title is going to require an install before play. According to TheGameReviews, Bethesda..."

Bethesda Softworks, the team behind Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3, has announced a long-term partnership with studio Splash Damage, the ones behind Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. The teams are currently working together on an unannounced title.

It can easily be described as a stunning display of workmanship, and this is only the concept art that we're talking about. With over 500 endings rumoured to be included, it's easy to see why this game is on the 'wish-list' of many RPG fans.. the game is of course Fallout 3. Enjoy the concept art attached below.

"- Fallout 3 (PS3, 360, PC)
- They'll handle the ending as a dynamic cutscene that changes depending on specific decisions you make. Right now there are over 500 variations of the cutscene.

- You can talk to Dogmeat although he only barks and wags his tail. But they say you always tell if he agrees or disagrees with you.

- There are no guilds like in Oblivion. You just go around doing different quests for various groups.

Fallout 3 producer Peter Hines of Bethesda Softworks admits, in reference to the title coming out for the PC, that the platform has its share of troubles:

"The fact that you could get 100 gamers together and every single one has a different PC config, whether it's the hardware they have, or the drivers they have installed for that hardware, is still a problem from a development standpoint and one that has never, really, been solved."

A new day has brought us 2 new images of Bethesda Softworks Fallout 3. Whilst the screenshots may make you think "ohh a nice new FPS", don't be fooled, Fallout 3 is in fact an RPG, to be released on the XBOX360, PS3 and PC.

The full details and pre-order pages for the Fallout 3 Collector's Edition have been put up over at the GameStop website. For those of you living under a rock (or perhaps inside a Vault), Fallout 3 is a shooter/RPG set in a retro-post-apocalyptic future. Fallout 1 and 2 were both isometric RPGs with a turn-based combat system. The third part of the series was changed (with some dismay by fans) to the FPS system with some turn-based combat modes.

In a 1UP interview with editors Jeff Green and Shawn Elliot, Bethesda's Pete Hines talked about the sophistication of the karma system we'll see in Fallout 3, saying if a player kills someone for no good reason, but that person turns out to be a mass murderer "we don't want to do that, we want the player [...] to get bad karma." Also, the game is going to start out with you being born and playing the game as a baby for awhile, learning to walk and all that stuff... Wow.

Fallout 3 due later this year and being developed by Bethesda studio's is bound to be one of the RPG's of the year. Yesterday four new screenshots surfaced featuring new enemies, new environments and even animals. Perhaps some Fable 2 like pets are in store?

Yes, you read correctly, two-hundred (200). In the latest podcast by the Official XBOX Magazine, Bethesda Soft's own Todd Howard, mentioned that there would be over 200 possible endings to Fallout 3.

Mike Fahey, of Kotaku, mentioned that when he had previewed the game back in June 2007 Bethesda was shooting for only 9-12 endings. With such a huge leap going from 12 to 200+ you wont have to worry about those setting the launch back and having Fallout 3 delayed. Todd Howard assures us that t...

"With this year's gaming harvest already played and beaten and filed away into memory like so many saves, it is time now to look on.

Past the bulbous shores of 2007, far off in the distant recesses of release schedules, lies the gone-golden bounty of untapped potential. And while many may slip their surly bonds and give flight to the year 2009, more still will cement their crusted plastic into delighted hands. Here we mark the prophecy of the PC legacy, a concrete, yet tumultuous hour of re..."

Fallout 3 is a hotly anticipated release on the PC, as well as the 360 and PS3. But a recent interview, the developers said something that really got me going. It was rather irritating. It was a discussion about how Bethesda was cutting down the dialogue paths, so people would not miss out on a story branch.

For a game that's not due for another year (Fall 2008), this is looking pretty gruesome. Just looking at the last screen with the headshot gives me goosebumps, heh.

To those unfamiliar with the Fallout series, it's an action-rpg game with both first-person and third-person perspectives that features non-linear gameplay, great stories, and black comedy. It changed developers after the second game, but does look promising.

Teaser Trailer:

"Eurogamer: How do you approach developing a game, especially one with the infamy of Fallout, when none of your team was involved in the original development?

Gavin Carter: We treated a lot like we treat our own. We went back and played the old games, so played a lot of Fallout 1 and Fallout 2, to see what we wanted to bring over from those games, and to get our minds away from this medieval space [that of the Elder Scrolls games]. And we watched movies like Mad Max, read books like The Roa..."

Bethesda, the critically acclaimed creator of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, is perhaps the ONLY studio capable of producing a game to top the plaudits heaped on Oblivion. And, with all this chatter of a certain other game (Two Worlds) being "the next Oblivion", it seems only right that Bethesda offer up a glimpse of its next project to fire gamer imaginations. Welcome to Fallout 3.

"Fallout 3 was confirmed to be coming to the Playstation 3 only a few weeks ago, but we already have the first ingame scans for you. These great looking scans came from a Finnish magazine called Pelaaja.

While not much of the story or any other elements of the game have been revealed by Bethesda, some tiny bits of information and a teaser video are available here. The scans below don’t disclose much new information but anyone can agree that this game is going to look pretty good."

You were born in the Vault. And you'll die in the Vault. It's what you've always believed. For 200 years your people have survived down here, in this test tube of a home - bleached clean steel walls, sterilized floors, and dozens of fellow survivors crammed into this self-sufficient hole in the ground. Xenophobia is a lifestyle. The world above is gone, annihilated centuries ago in one brief radiation-filled flash, leaving you here to live out your sad existence ..."

Bethesda Softworks has released a trailer for Fallout 3 to tease our senses. They've teased us with images and now a trailer. It seems as though they're slowly releasing more and more information.

"Bethesda Softworks has revealed that world-famous actor Liam Neeson has signed up for a major role in Fallout 3 and will appear prominently throughout the entire game.

Speaking about his role in the upcoming post-apocalyptic title, Neeson said: "It's been a pleasure bringing the father to life and working with the wonderfully talented people at Bethesda on Fallout 3. I hope the fans of the franchise and the game will be excited by the results."

Todd Howard, executive producer of Fallout..."

"It's been almost ten years since the release of Fallout 2 and fans have been growing restless for a true sequel. The long wait may soon be over. Bethesda has launched an official site for Fallout 3."

"Oblivion developers Bethesda has purchased the rights to the Fallout series from Interplay for a reported USD 5.75 million.

Previously, Interplay had given Bethesda the rights to develop titles in the Fallout series, along with the possibility of creating a Fallout MMO. Development of a third title in the series is currently underway.

With the new deal now in place, Bethesda now has full ownership of the Fallout IP and will be licensing rights of the new MMO to Interplay.

The licence..."

"According to the filing, first spotted by Fallout fansite No Mutants Allowed, the purchase of the Fallout license and accompanying IP was settled on April 9th, with final payment installments expected to be delivered by the third quarter of this year.

In an interesting twist, as part of the agreement Interplay now acts as a licensee of the IP as it continues to ramp up production on its own Fallout-themed massively multiplayer game, first announced in 2004 alongside Bethesda's sequel, and..."
