"Steam is continuing its awesome deals during its Summer Camp sale with big discounts on games in the Far Cry series. Right now you can get Far Cry and its sequel for a huge discount on Steam. Check out the news below."
"Orson Welles, Stanley Kubrick, Stephen Spielberg. Each of these men changed cinema in their own way. Welles showed us what a masterpiece truly is. Kubrick showed us that space could actually be boring, and Spielberg showed us how to destroy a franchise and a reputation in one fell swoop. If there is one man whom deserves to join these three directors in the annals of history, it is indeed Germany’s own Uwe Boll."
PC gamers can rejoice -- digital distribution service Good Old Games has signed Ubisoft to its catalogue, announcing the deal today. What this means is you can get the likes of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Far Cry, Beyond Good & Evil, and lots more for $6 or $10, DRM-free, and XP/Vista compatible (Mac and Win7 too, to some extent).
Hurrah!

Well it seems that Ubisoft's narrative director Patrick Redding has let a small wildcat out of the bag at last weeks Game Convention when discussions around Far Cry 2 and its franchise started up.
For my money I'm hoping that they do follow through with keeping it all within Africa, as the setting is much more conducive to creating such a varied atmosphere within a game. It will allow them to come out with the next iteration much faster and allow a better flow within the franchise as well....
"When it comes to the likes of Uwe Boll or Paul W.S. Anderson, a sound case can be argued for incompetence and a distinct lack of nounce after weighing up the terrible twosomes respective movie portfolios, but writer Nicole LaPorte offers that videogame narratives are simply unable to sustain successful movie spin offs.
Comparing videogame movie adapatations against Hollywood creations reliant on the comic book world, LaPorte says that the "weak narratives" often found in videogames are un..."

Ubisoft has announced it will delay three highly-anticipated games to the fiscal 2008 year in order to keep it's production costs low on 2007 fiscal reports. These are the latest to hit the delay block. Previously, Ubisoft delayed Tom Clany's Splinter Cell: Conviction and Haze to the fiscal 08.
"The game will be entirely open-ended and non-linear. Instead of using individual maps, the game will take place in a sprawling nondescript land in Africa, with terrain ranging from savanna to jungle, similar to those seen in Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, Just Cause and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl."
This week. we covered a gamut of topics. We first talked a bit about our Wii Giveaway. Then we got into the banhammer that was dropped on Halo 3 Epsilon players and the 24 hour ban dropped on Call of Duty 4 beta fans. We talked about the free games that just came out from Ubisoft and EA, which we hope is a trend in the right direction for older games. We also hit on the Bioshock multiplayer issue and digital distribution being the savior of PC Gaming.
Far Cry, Crytek's revolutionary FPS released in early 2004, is now available for free download from FilePlanet based off in-game advertising support. From the same geniuses behind the upcoming Crysis and CryEngine 2, Far Cry is well worth checking out for the advances it made in graphics, AI, and engine dynamics, and for having kickass gameplay and plot.
Singleplayer is awesome, sure multiplayer can be good but its that story driven action packed campaign that we hunger for. Here is a list of the top 10 FPS singleplayer games. While all these titles are available for PC many of them are or will be on consoles. System Shock 2, Doom and Deus Ex all make a appearance but which one will be top dog?
The list is as follows (in reverse order, even though the numbers are incremental):
- F.E.A.R
- Call of Duty 2
- System Shock 2
- Aliens vs Predator 2
- Far Cry
- Ca...
Ubisoft has released information on a Far Cry sequel to be on the PC and maybe at a later date arrive on the Xbox 360, the PS3 is yet unknown for a release. The game should arrive on PC's for Spring 2008.
Ubisoft are confident that with Far Cry 2 it will have the same impact on the FPS scene that Far Cry had, with gorgeous graphics and intelligent AI whilst playing the game.
Uwe Boll has the rights to direct the upcoming Far Cry, movie. His only problem is finding an actor who's willing to participate in any of his movies. an Extra. Uwe has gone far enough to even put up the roll for bid on Ebay's German site.
So, how much is Uwe asking for? EUR 2,498.00 (aprox $3,360.19 USD). This only secures the roll for you. The expenses of flying there, staying in a hotel is left up to you. So, is it worth it? I know of 2,498 reasons why I wouldn't.
