GetGamesGo.com somehow managed to get Ubisoft to let them sell some games at, up to, 75% off; awesome guys. Many of these games are some well known titles from the Developer/Publisher.

"Steam is continuing its awesome deals during its Summer Camp sale with big discounts on games in the Far Cry series. Right now you can get Far Cry and its sequel for a huge discount on Steam. Check out the news below."

According to an interview with Narrative director Jason VandenBerghe, Far Cry 3 will be 10 times the size of Far Cry 1 and 2. In addition, the game will return to a tropical setting...

We've got the scoop on the return of one of the most artistically beautiful video game franchises. Check out the full story for the details on the return to the Far Cry universe. Cheers!

"BonusEXP's podcast crew of David, Pat, Andy and Nick are here to talk games. Featured game discussion includes Amnesia, Plants vs Zombies XBLA, Apple's Game Center, Valkyria Chronicles DLC, the Sengoku Basara Samurai Heroes and Quantum Theory demos, Far Cry 2 (?) and the upcoming Halo Reach.

As usual Andy delivers this week's news in gaming and we make up for the light gaming week with some substantial casual discussion."

"BioShock was one of the greatest games of all time. Still, many gamers dropped their controllers in awe following the ending of the game. It was, in some ways, powerful but could have been so much better and more developed. The high point of the game is obviously the “star wars-esque” realization about Andrew Ryan and his demise but the awesome battle against Frank Fontaine is followed by a short sequence that depended on whether you were a heartless jerk or altruistic savior as far as the Li..."

4 great FPS are about to arrive on the Xbox Live Marketplace: Left 4 Dead 2 demo version, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2. For about $30 each you will be able to play huge FPS on your Xbox.

"Microsoft closes out the month of April with three games added to Xbox Live Games on Demand. They include the family friendly Shrek the Third, Crytek first-person shooter Far Cry, and the third-person co-op shooter Kane & Lynch: Dead Men."

Games could well be gaining more use than they currently are by developers building in map editors to the console based FPS and Third person shooters etc that are coming out these days.

There were a few, where did they go, they were popular, and gave length to games .. come see what one person thinks of the whole lack of map making facilities on consoles.

The 'good news' episode of The Bender. Mostly for us, but still good news. Lots of ground covered, including a little touching of the "games as art debate", James taking on the "10 day detox" of video games, and much more. Grab us/stream through iTunes or download the mp3 here

"Edge, Future’s international videogames magazine and website, has announced the shortlist for its Edge Award For Interactive Innovation, which is set for presentation during the Edinburgh Interactive Festival next week. The list recognises the games commercially released in the last twelve months that have, in the judge’s opinions, done most to mark out new directions for videogaming."

If you just can't get enough maps in Far Cry 2, the eighth pack has been released today for the PC version. Grab the 20-pack -- which covers multiple game types -- at the source.

"Generally, the first rule when it comes to rescuing hostages is ‘don’t let everybody get horribly done in.’ But sadly, this proves too much of a stumbling block for many game heroes. Be it accidentally killing geriatrics with a killer virus or letting the damsel in distress get crushed by a cow, the following rescue missions all get botched. Spectacularly."

"This is an exciting week because of all the new Dashboard preview but there’s more new items to take a look at on LIVE. The Xbox Summer of Arcades continues for the second week with Marvel VS. Capcom 2 along with some rocking new Rock Band tracks, the Far Cry Fortunes Pack Deal of the Week, Gears of War 2 map packs and more."

Far Cry 2 players can grab a new patch for the game today which fixes many multi and single player mode bugs, as well as improving browsing features, offering more options, and many more goodies.

Changelog is below -- grab the patch at the source or from Ubisoft directly here.

Update: all DRM has been removed from the game with this patch, meaning no Internet or disc in tray is required to play, and you can install as many times as you like without worry!

Allison Boyer at Binge Gamer continues with her weekly collection of gaming and geek related contests going on (with a few being cash/gift cards). She hand picks these to make sure you don't need to sign up to anything with a credit card or what not, just basically a name, an email, and a post is just about the most required for these. I'll put the contests in the quote and Go to source for the links if you feel like entering.

Though Far Cry 2 has been out for about 203 days now, Ubisoft has finally gotten around to fixing a game-breaking save issue with a patch released for 360 owners yesterday. Additionally, a Hardcore mode has been added.

PC and PS3 gamers can expect the patch soonish.

The gang here loves us some "Top Lists", but over the past few months they have gotten out of hand - how could we continue making top lists? After hours of grueling brainstorming with Street Fighter 4, Chris Plante, our wetnosed associate editor delivered brilliance: "What about the best hands in shooters!" We laughed, and approached it as a joke, but the more we thought it about it... [snip] no, seriously, think about it...

"Yes, it has taken some time, 18 months to be precise, but we have “arrived” . . . MS Xbox-Div Australia has just launched its revamped Community Pages here in Australia and with it, the introduction of the excellent Community Playdates.

OXCGN is proud to be the first community site to kick the thing off here in Australia and we are really looking forward to spending some quality time with our readers on the various Playdates as they occur.

The first one for us and the first one in Austr..."

"What Far Cry 2 does really, really well is the sort of desperate, bloodthirsty combat that the sci-fi shooter brigade couldn't come up with even if you gave them a hundred years on the Planet of Persistent Inspiration, three wishes, and a conversation with the deity of their choice. Vehicles explode under RPG fire. Grass burns in scorching, blistering waves. And as the echoes of another short, brutal gun battle die away, you go through the smoldering wreckage, machete in hand, to administer t..."

Ubisoft has announced a second patch for Far Cry 2 is in the works, though it's not clear if it is just for PC or for consoles as well.

Among the things on the bill are rebalancing of all weapons and the addition of a Hardcore difficulty.

No word on when we'll see it, but it's nice to have that to look forward to.

"Complete freedom has always been the holy grail of gaming, ie; Sandbox Gameplay. Games such as GTA3 and Crackdown have shown the potential for setting a player loose in a world with nought but their imagination (and usually several dozen guns).

But should we really want our games to tear down their walls and send us out squinting into a blinding world of possibilities?

For most people, the answer to that would be a resounding ‘YES!’, and who could blame them? Being able to craft our own..."

"There was so much talk about Far Cry 2's open-world structure and its beautiful landscapes that another important feature of the game - the easy-to-use map editor - went relatively ignored. Well, no more. Ubisoft has announced that a guide to the map editor will be published in Spring 2009 and it will feature contributions from gamers like you."

This week, the fast-talking, punctuation hating Ben 'Yahtzee' Croshaw reviews Far Cry 2. Prepare, as always, for hilarity and vulgarity. Enjoy.

Video after the jump.

If there's one thing I've been missing on the UK version of Home its the game spaces. Areas especially designed by the developers to expand and promote their game. It looks like I can finally stop being gloomy though, as one of the leaders at the Playstation Forums has announced the Far Cry 2 space will be available after maintenance on Thursday. There will also be a leaderboard put in for the Red Bull race with a few weeks.

"When it comes to wanting to have the best gaming setups, many end up spending an extraordinary amount of money on them. The cost involves not just the actual computer or console, but the HDTV, sound system, wiring, room layout and furniture plus soft furnishings.

Until now, most self contained gaming systems resembled a racing chair similar to a racing car cockpit with a joystick added. Even the great looking, and terribly expensive VRX MACH 4 (Ultimate Forza 2 rig), still looks like an ov..."

"So here we are, on the 3rd January 2009, the tenth day of Christmas. Yes, Christmas seems like a long time ago now, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still plenty of bargains to be had in those January sales – and that’s exactly what The Twelve Games of Christmas is here for! A feature series running every day of the twelve days of Christmas, in The Twelve Games of Christmas Electronic Theatre runs through the greatest achievers in the videogaming year of 2008, month-by-month. Today being th..."

"When you see long-standing publishers take a hit and respond by laying people off, canceling projects and delaying triple-A games, you know something is very wrong. And even though 2009 has a nice line-up of hardcore games that are easily classifiable as big-budget, they could be the last for a long time to come."

"I played through dozens of games this year and tried at least a hundred more. And through them all, I experienced some amazing moments.

As I have done in years previous, here are my picks for My 10 Favorite Moments in Video Games for 2008. (As spoiler-light as I can make them.)"

"Ubisoft have decided to run an extremely generous Christmas promotion through their online store, Electronic Theatre can reveal today. When ordering any of the publishers’ six biggest titles for Christmas, or any of the Imagine range of games for the NintendoDS, customer will receive a fantastic free gift, and with selected titles the opportunity to win much, much more..."

"We look at the top 12 games from several platforms in order to determine which are the Top 12 Overall Games for 2008, and you might just be surprised at the ‘overall’ winner for 2008 - coming from an Xbox site. OXCGN (aka XboxOZ360-gamer) has always maintained that the staff are “gamers” - not fanbois. Most have more than 2 consoles and platforms to play games on and simply enjoy ‘gaming’ period.

So what better way to round off the year than to take a look at what we believe to be the top ..."

A forum post on Far Cry 2's official German forums from an Ubisoft rep has confirmed that the PC version of the title will be receiving a patch next week between December 8th and 11th.

"2008 Holiday Gift Guide
Need to gift a gamer? Everyone's a gamer nowadays, and every gamer has his or her own unique tastes. You can't buy the same game for your fratty jock friend that you bought for your nerdy, blister-thumbed nephew. Ah, stress! What to do!? Calm down; breathe into this paper bag, we’re here to help.

With the 2008 Holiday Gift Guide, we've sorted through the best gifts for gamers and divided them by player type. The jock? Try TNA Impact. The hardcore gamer nephew? Let..."

Ubisoft has announced a DLC pack for Far Cry 2, the sequel (and I use the world loosely) to Crytek's Far Cry, set for the end of November. The Fortunate's Pack will include quite a few new weapons, maps, and vehicles for players to enjoy in both single and multiplayer modes. Far Cry 2 was developed by Ubisoft Montreal and uses the new Dunia graphics engine.

Do you enjoy games with collectibles? Then this list may be just the thing for you! Whether it's collecting letters, fossils or skulls these games are the top providers for those who love a good scavenger hunt. Collectibles have always made for good fun and lengthening gameplay, so here's the twelve best for you by gamedaily.com.

"All is not perfect in Africa, however, with Far Cry 2 suffering from a few issues which can really hamper the fun. First is the spotty AI: I have seen enemies run to flank me and I have also seen them just endlessly run their vehicles into the side of a building. In order to battle your bout of malaria, you need special pills. However, to gain more of these pills, you generally have to do the same mission over and over again for various low-level contacts. Unfortunately, you need the pills to..."

"The game world is nothing short of astounding. Far Cry 2 seamlessly transitions from tropical forests to the African savannah, and the map is one of the largest I’ve ever seen. And unlike games such as Oblivion and Fallout 3, you won’t find yourself running into new enemies and quests every 30 feet. The boredom of driving (because you can steal any car without fear of retribution) is counterbalanced by periodic guard posts containing angry men with guns, and the occasional faction member on..."

"The first Far Cry 2 patch has been released by Ubisoft and is now available for download. The 42MB update packs multiplayer, singleplayer and map editor bug fixes. Here are the notes in full..."

"In the space of a few short minutes, Ubisoft’s Far Cry 2 elevated itself in our eyes from entertaining open-world first-person shooter to guaranteed Game of the Year contender. After running multiple missions with Josip Idromeno, the first Buddy we encountered in Africa, he fell during a particularly heated firefight. After the frantic post-battle rush to save the aging merc ended in failure, our own chosen gun-for-hire extended his hand over Josip’s eyes and slid them shut. It was a quiet..."

"It's important to note that Far Cry 2 is not Oblivion. You won't stroll into a small village, meet a crying woman, and pledge to find their missing son in the forest. About 99% of the people you will meet will try to shoot you on sight. If you see another car traveling the dirt roads or a guard checkpoint, don't doff your hat and try to hit them up for a quest - the only quest they're offering is entitled, "Fill Your Mouth With Rounds From My AK-47.""

"Mandatory installs come from complications developers meet when switching from DVD to Blu-ray. Blu-rays have more space, but they have a different way of reading data that causes longer loading times when given exactly the same data DVDs use. Installs fix the problem, at a cost, but alternative methods are being devised. Fallout 3 has enough space on the Blu-ray disc to copy the game's assets over more than once on the disc, which reduces load times significantly. This kind of innovation is n..."

The top list of games sold this week has been released.

Wii- Wii Music, Wii Fit, and Wii Play all came out on the top of the Wii lists.

Xbox 360- Fable II (not surprisingly), Tales of Vesparia, and Far Cry 2 were at the top of the charts.

Playstation 3- In North America Dead Space came out on top, with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed as second. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (special edition), and FIFA 09 came out on top in other regions.

With Ubisoft claiming that Far Cry 2 would be the benchmark for other FSPs, not everyone believed them. Looks like they were wrong. In this review, XboxOz360 explains how good Far Cry 2 is and how it'll be hard for other games to top it.

"Cheat Code Central
By adopting a laissez faire attitude to player discretion, Ubisoft has crafted a brilliant follow-up.

Playstation Official Magazine UK
Whatever happens you'll believe it's a real world and a fantastic setting for the action. It's not as dense or as varied as, say, Oblivion - you'll go somewhere, kill everyone, every mission - but it's utterly convincing and engrossing.

1UP
Even if I find the multiplayer too staid, I find the possibility of cool user-made levels ..."

Here is the first review I could find for Far Cry 2 today. Looks as if the game is going to live up to most of the hype, so it should be pretty awesome. The only real problems they seem to have were a lack of wildlife in the environments, and some small platform issues. Other than that it looks solid. Can't wait!

It seemed like this was only a PC problem. Its almost become common to find a PC game pirated on the web. But it seems like people are moving on to consoles. This image alone tells the whole story. Thousands of peers and people downloading the game, for the 360. Such a shame. Lets hope this doesn't move on to future games on consoles.

Tom Clancy's End War, Prince Of Persia & Far Cry 2. Plus a Media event with Cliff Bleszinski then spend the evening at IGN's Black Beta Gears 2 night with Cliff and many others.

"The developers explained that after the original Far Cry as well as TV series such as Lost and Survivor, the tropical island setting was no longer seen as exotic. So after a suggestion by their art director, Alex Amanico, they decided that Africa would be the perfect setting (Yay for us!)."

"I should point out that these are the top five games that have the most potential for being Halo, GTA IV and KillZone Killers via marketing, community support, critical praise and sales. It's possible any one of these titles could be as controversial as GTA IV, or as supported as KillZone 2, or as long lasting in popularity as Halo 3."

In a recent interview with Pyra of FragDolls, creative director of Far Cry 2 Clint Hocking talked about the game, who the Jackal is, what we can expect from multiplayer mode, and how weather will affect the game...

October 21st in the USA, and October 24th in the UK will see more AAA titles released than any other time of the year. In a recent EuroGamer interview with Louis-Pierre Pharand, - the Far Cry 2 producer - he revealed that the FPS will contain four different multiplayer modes, such as Capture the Diamond and Deathmatch.

Earlier today vg247 headed on over to Ubisoft's UK offices to try out the XBOX 360 version of Far Cry 2. They polled users via comments on things they wanted to know about while giving short blurbs on what they were currently doing in game.

Anything else you want to know you can leave in their comments and they'll shoot off an email to Ubisoft. Some great information but beware of the spoilers!

"GameStop Offering Far Cry 2 Bonus Missions As mentioned on Friday, Ubisoft will be offering a Collector's Edition of Far Cry 2 with a t-shirt, art book, and other extras. However, if you pre-order FC2 from GameStop, you can ditch those extras in favor of something you might value more: bonus missions."

The highly anticipated shooter Far Cry 2 finally has a concrete release date for the US. It will hit stores on October 21st. Ubisoft has also outlined the contents of the Collector's Edition.

"Ubisoft has just confirmed that Far Cry 2, it's self-confessed "biggest game of the year", will be out on 360, PS3 and PC on October 24.

It's also confirmed that a special Collectors' Edition will also be released, packed in an exclusive wooden box, containing the game, a Limited edition Far Cry 2 t-shirt, a "The Art of Far Cry 2" Art book, a Collector 50km map, and a making-of DVD. The collectors edition is available for pre-order at Game.

In case you're tight on pocket money you shou..."

Well it seems that Ubisoft's narrative director Patrick Redding has let a small wildcat out of the bag at last weeks Game Convention when discussions around Far Cry 2 and its franchise started up.

For my money I'm hoping that they do follow through with keeping it all within Africa, as the setting is much more conducive to creating such a varied atmosphere within a game. It will allow them to come out with the next iteration much faster and allow a better flow within the franchise as well....

We've all been wondering what games will contain Trophies, ever since they launched back a couple of months ago, and whilst only a few titles have been patched with trophies so far, how exactly does the future of Trophies and the Playstation 3 look? Well, ps3trophies.org decided to go to Leipzig to ask that question and they've got back a list of games that will include trophy support.

It's finally here, news and video of Far Cry 2's map editor in action. And it looks sweet as. Plus there's a great item and link to a really fascinating viral site based on Far Cry 2. You'd swear it was a real-world situation. Excellent work by the owner of the site.

You need to see the site to really appreciate the effort that has gone ito it. Plus the Map Editor is nothing short of brilliant.

GDN is now hosting the new walkthrough trailer of Ubisoft's Far Cry 2. Nicknamed the Jackel, the trailer goes through and describes certain features with quite a few shots of the scenery within the game.

"All the trees and grass are dynamic, simulating the wind. What kind of challenges did that lumber on you as the art director?

Amancio: It was really hard. Even with the dynamic time of day the game has to look good at every time of day, but it needs to look different. If you have a linear level you can just basically tweak an area and then have the perfect area, because you know where the player's coming from.

How much on location research did you do?

Amancio: We went to Africa for a..."

"Ubisoft confirms to TVG that all three versions of Far Cry 2 will ship with a level editor for the multiplayer game...

The level editor for the original Far Cry and Instincts console port was certainly a fan favourite, and now TVG can confirm that a level editor will also ship with Far Cry 2 on all three formats."

"Ubisoft then bought the rights entirely from Crytek in 2006, before releasing the critically abhorred Far Cry Vengeance for the Wii's launch. Since then it's all been quiet on the series' front (not counting Uwe Boll's movie adaptation), until the not-so surprising confirmation last year that Far Cry 2 was in development for PC (the PS3 and 360 versions were confirmed earlier this year). It is being developed by Ubisoft's famed Montréal studio - by the team who developed the average console i..."

"Far Cry marked the beginning of a new era for shooters. An era of gorgeous graphics and of advanced artificial intelligence, we are confident that Far Cry 2 will have the same impact again on the FPS genre landscape."

In what I can only describe as mind blowing. The next installment of the Far Cry series was demonstrated in a tech demo at GDC 08' unfortunately this was taken with a cam so the quality isn't superior, even through they provide both SD and HD.

I wont spoil it but at the end of part 2 your head will just explode. Enjoy!

It's more than usual that now adays, developers that develop games for the PS3 are finding that it is a complex machine to develop for however, yet another comapny accompanies Activision in saying that whilst they were initially worried about developing for the PS3, the no longer are.

This time, it's the developers of Far Cry 2, namely Ubisoft. Once they began R&D on the PS3, it seemed that the console was made for Far Cry 2, and it's additional features (Harddrive, Blu-Ray drive, and str...
