Yeah, the badass Sephiroth made a debut in his own rap video. I got to admit it, I wasn't so sure about it at first but surprisingly it kinda fit. Anyways, check it out for yourself!
We all like video game music. Be it the battle music from Final Fantasy Seven we hum with every success or the Chrono Trigger soundtrack, we've all taken something away with the games we play.
Earlier today, TK-Nation found out that Indiegames Editor Jeriaska is launching a Kickstarter project revolving around interviews with legendary videogame composers, indie game soundtracks, Nullsleep and a whole lot of cool.
It's National Geographic except with chocobos and Chun Li.
"Some remakes just shouldn't have been made in the first place. If you ever have the chance, don't check out Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop. Probably one of the worst remakes I've ever had the misfortune of seeing. A remake of the excellent 360 version, and built from the ground up for the Wii, Chop Till You Drop does everything wrong. The ability to take photographs was completely removed (which is odd, considering that the protagonist, Frank West, is a photographer...), the amount of zombie..."
"Final Fantasy is one of the most famous franchises in gaming history and for good reason. The gameplay has evolved over the years and pleased gamers on everything from the original NES to the WonderSwan and still entrances gamers on the PS3 and 360. But there's another appeal factor about this series."
In a move with something which is sure to get fans of both teams excited, Rooster Teeth, the creators of Red vs Blue, have today announced that they have officially signed up Monty Oum, the creator of both Haloid and Dead Fantasy, to work for their company. Considering that Revalation, the newest season of the Red vs Blue series is soon to premiere, and that Monty Oum himself is soon to release the next installment of Dead Fantasy, this can only mean good things for both. See the alternative ...
Square has developed a reputation over the years for dramatically changing how the battle mechanic works with each new iteration of the Final Fantasy series. The Kartel highlights how battling has evolved over the years, and pick out the ones that worked best.
I had the pleasure of recording a podcast with three Final Fantasy enthusiasts. I did not talk and they spoke on everything within the series. See the description. download through iTunes, though Zune, or download the mp3 directly
"As we told you last month, the first two games in the Final Fantasy series are on their way to the iPhone. Here, in Square Enix’s patented iPhone-o-vision, is a trailer for the pair of classic re-releases.
Still no release date, sadly; all we get is a “available soon” at the end of the clip."
GameDaily gives its own take at which RPG style is superior in the categories of the classic RPG, the MMORPG, the tactical RPG, the action RPG, most emotionally engaging (contains FFVII and Mass Effect spoilers), and the overall winner.
Though you might not agree with everything stated, it is an interesting read on a topic that continues to spur the interest of RPG fans.
"Originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in Japan back in 1987 and 1988, Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II are set to return for a new generation to enjoy, available for the first time ever on the iPhone and iPod touch. Including an optimised control system for iPhone/iPod touch interface and additional dungeons not available in the original 1987/1988 releases Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II are set to be available via the App Store very soon."
Final Fantasy geeks have a right to get excited, as the games that started the whole series, Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II, are about to get a whole lot prettier and mobile. While the core gameplay of Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II will remain, the dated graphics, art, and music are getting an impressive makeover.
Akitoshi Kawazu, Square Enix developer, has said that he wants the Final Fantasy franchise to last forever.
In a recent interview, Kawazu was asked if gamers will ever see a final Final Fantasy. He said:
"8. Garland (FF9)
Garland is directly responsible for the events in the game. He was created by the Terrans and given the task to find a new planet for them to live on. When he couldn’t conquer Gaia, he created Kuja to be his Angel of Death, killing Gaians to make room for the Terrans’ souls."
Brought to you by Square Enix Music comes a brand new soundtrack directed and composed by the legendary Nobuo Uematsu and remixed and produced by Ante / Ian Hartley & mattb: FINAL FANTASY REMIX, featuring 12 classic Final Fantasy tunes remixed.

With today's gamer requiring a fast paced, highly action oriented, and not all that thought provoking game - it is no wonder we have seen the decline of traditional point and click RPGs like most of us grew up with back in the day. I enjoyed spending literally days of my life playing these games, maxing out stats, collecting every secret - no matter how pointless, and growing pale in my basement with my only source of light being the television and and power button for weeks on end.

"The allure just isn't there anymore for the Final Fantasy titles and we have to ask why. Loyal fans try to create hype, but the games are just not combining new and old expectations. Maybe it's because every game, we have to warm up to new characters and worlds. Square sets itself up for hit and miss titles with no character regularity. The only motif running through the series I can identify is a blond guy and clueless protagonists. Most of the recent Final Fantasy games (dare I say Square ..."
"Since its birth, video gaming has undergone an incredible evolution, from simple sprites and a ghost-eating Pac-Man to todays domination of home consoles. After all that time, any gamer whos worth their weight in rupees will remember (fondly, or otherwise) some once-common sights that went the way of the Virtual GameBoy, never to be seen or heard from again. CRACKED recalls some video-game staples of yesteryear, and admits that, in the end, there are still more of them kicking around than w..."
