"For those who're wondering, this screenshot is taken from the final few seconds of the Tokyo Game Show trailer, now viewable on the website. Yes, Tifa will be a playable character. This is pretty much SquEnix's worst-kept secret, and they apparently like it that way.
It looks like they'll be adding a lot more over time, so FF buffs might want to keep their bookmarks handy and check back regularly!"
Dissidia: Final Fantasy wasn't quite as successful as Square Enix had hoped, leading them to question whether a sequel was worth developing. In an attempt to boost the game's sales, Dissidia is now available on the Playstation Store.
"Dissidia: Final Fantasy has now been out for a few months in the West, but its sales figures are actually quite low in comparison to those from Japan, and even lower when compared to that of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII's.
While this might not seem like a big deal on the surface, it may actually prohibit the release of any kind of sequel, as Square Enix stated that a sequel would be based on its Western sales."
"Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Final Fantasy in style, Dissidia Final Fantasy is an all new, unique action fighting game. "Mana Khemia 2: Fall of Alchemy
Mana Khemia 2's developer, Gust, has a knack for creating item-crafting-heavy games that are actually fun to play. As it has been pumping out Atelier Iris games continually since 1997, the company has had a lot of time to refine its games' combat and synthesis systems. The first Mana Khemia, often considered the spiritual successor to the Atelier Iris series, can be seen as the culmination of all that Gust has learned over the years, at least when it comes to..."

"Square Enix, Inc.., The publisher of Square Enix interactive entertainment products in North America, announced that DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY for the PSP system will be available mid-year 2009 in North America. This seems like even worse news for Europeans who will have to wait even longer to get their hands on the title."
While I think Square Enix are getting kind of greedy to be forcing people to buy a book to learn info about their titles I'm sure most fans won't matter. On Amazon Japan a second Cloud book is up, to be released on December 12th, already announced to be packed with screenshots, art and info on all the games and products mentioned below. Let's hope its actually something substantial this time, rather than the tiny fragments we usually get.
With the Japanese release of Final Fantasy: Dissidia coming soon (December 18 2008), it's understandable that many fans of the Final Fantasy franchise are excited, and what's more exciting is the information revealed in Famitsu magazine, which is given to us, courtesy of IGN.
The information relates in particular to the Multiplayer Mode and in particular, the Ad-hoc Party mode for the game and how it will all work out.
[Discussion in the Final Fantasy: Dissidia Forum]
Within the past several years, Square Enix has been on the ball with remakes of their classic Final Fantasy games. And rumors of a remake for the huge and popular Final Fantasy 7 have been been buzzing around the net.
Square Enix president Yoichi Wada explains how there has been a remake boom lately, "The price of games is high, and consumers tend to be wary of buying games they are unfamiliar with".
That's an interesting reason for the increase of remake talk, but SE fans hope they do...
"When asked about the characters in the game, Arakawa explained that the full roster was already decided right from the start. And yes, they took characters from FFI to FFX only, and nothing after.
As a recap (I've lost count of how many times I've done this already...), here are the list of characters which have already been confirmed:
* FF: Warrior of Light - Garland
* FFII: Firion - Emperor Palamecia
* FFIII: Onion Knight - Cloud of Darkness
* FFIV: Cecil Harvey - G..."

Gemaga has been liveblogging Square Enix's DKΣ3713 Private Party that is currently underway right now, with a bunch of megatons and other news to report (via GAF and other blogs):
"The latest scan of Famitsu July 2008 shows Onion Knight and Cloud of Darkness from Final Fantasy III joining the fold of Final Fantasy heroes and villains. Nothing much is said of what their moves will be, but you can take comfort in knowing they're joining the fight. Remember: the original cast of Final Fantasy III had no names and were all Onion Knights at the beginning, so those wanting to ask why he has no name should take this into consideration.
Now what games remain? FFIV, FFV, FFVI..."
"DISSIDIA: Final Fantasy? 50 percent done. So says the game's character designer Tetsuya Nomura in the upcoming issue of Japanese game mag Famitsu. This shouldn't come as a huge surprise as only half the cast has been revealed. That, and Square Enix does like to take its sweet time putting out its games. There's no rush, we guess."
It looks like there's another duo making it to Dissidia: Tidus and his old man Jecht. So we got this characters as of now:
Final Fantasy: Warrior of Light and Garland;
Final Fantasy II: Firion and Emperor Palamecia;
Final Fantasy VII: Sephiroth (question is: when will Cloud be revelead? =P);
Final Fantasy VIII: Squall Leonhart and Ultimecia;
Final Fantasy IX: Zidane Tribal and Kuja;
Final Fantasy X: Tidus and Jecht
So will we be seeing anymore main characters and their arch-enemies...

"Japanese gaming magazine Dengeki PlayStation, through PSPHyper, finds out why Final Fantasy Dissidia's nature is to be an action game. According to the report, this was because it was thought that a 3D action game using the expertise of the team of Yousuke Shiokawa was "the best way to gather all the characters from the Final Fantasy series."
Who is Mr. Shiokawa? Square Enix's Yousuke Shiokawa was the lead programmer for boss battles in Kingdom Hearts II. He is now directing Final Fantasy..."
The first details on the PSP's new Final Fantasy game have been revealed by Jump Magazine. In what some might consider the ultimate Final Fantasy crossover, Dissidia is bringing past characters of the Final Fantasy series together. Three characters so far have been revealed:
The Warrior of Light from Final Fantasy I, Zidane Tribal from Final Fantasy IX, and Kuja, one of the villains from Final Fantasy IX.
The game will feature close-range combat on a 3D battle field, complete with jumpi...
Square Enix has opened up a new website for Final Fantasy Dissidia. Other than the flashy intro there's no information. However, the game will be released for the Playstation Portable gaming system. The logo this time looks to be Shiiva and Ifrit, perhaps? No matter, it still looks good. So, for all you lucky PSP owners, prepare for a FF game.
