Video games are a medium filled with lousy stories, absurd scenarios and otherwise ridiculous plot points. That said, there are also some real gems out there. The sort that rise above the stupidity of their bretheren and prove that yes, gaming can be a real, honest-to-goodness medium for storytelling. Sadly, few can do this perfectly. Even in the best games there are those moments where you just have to sit back and wonder what they were thinking.
This week: Final Fantasy IV
"As we told you last month, the first two games in the Final Fantasy series are on their way to the iPhone. Here, in Square Enix’s patented iPhone-o-vision, is a trailer for the pair of classic re-releases.

With Final Fantasy III hitting Japanese VCs this month, Square Enix have already announced that FFIV will be the next game in the series to be featured on the Virtual Console. This takes takes care of one of the ports mentioned earlier, leaving only two more left, which will be filled up by Final Fantasy V and VI.
Final Fantasy IV hits Japanese Virtual Consoles on August 4. There's still no word on when the titles will make their way to North America.

Within the past several years, Square Enix has been on the ball with remakes of their classic Final Fantasy games. And rumors of a remake for the huge and popular Final Fantasy 7 have been been buzzing around the net.
Square Enix president Yoichi Wada explains how there has been a remake boom lately, "The price of games is high, and consumers tend to be wary of buying games they are unfamiliar with".
That's an interesting reason for the increase of remake talk, but SE fans hope they do...
The DS remake of Final Fantasy IV (originally Final Fantasy II in the Western world) has been confirmed by Square Enix to ship to Europe September 5.
Unlike past Final Fantasy remakes, this one has been completely overhauled, transitioning into 3D, boasting a faithful translation, voiced cut scenes, and more.
"North American gamers can look forward to seeing Final Fantasy IV (a re-make of the Super Nintendo original for the Nintendo DS) on July 22; while Square Enix has revealed today that the title will arrive in Europe sometime this summer."
