Final Fantasy XI: Wings of the Goddess

Final Fantasy XI: Wings of the Goddess

Yeah, the badass Sephiroth made a debut in his own rap video. I got to admit it, I wasn't so sure about it at first but surprisingly it kinda fit. Anyways, check it out for yourself!

Due to the continuous earthquakes occurring in the eastern regions of Japan since Mar. 11, 2011, the power companies in Japan have encouraged everyone to cooperate by conserving as much energy as possible and Square Enix has agreed to take down their game servers for FFXI, FFXIV and PlayOnline for at least 1 week beginning March 3rd 3:00 PST.

"Final Fantasy is one of the most famous franchises in gaming history and for good reason. The gameplay has evolved over the years and pleased gamers on everything from the original NES to the WonderSwan and still entrances gamers on the PS3 and 360. But there's another appeal factor about this series."

I had the pleasure of recording a podcast with three Final Fantasy enthusiasts. I did not talk and they spoke on everything within the series. See the description. download through iTunes, though Zune, or download the mp3 directly

Square Enix is lowering the price Final Fantasy XI Ultimate Collection to $14.99. This collection includes the original FFXI, the four expansions, and the three 2009 scenarios. Is this a sign of the times to come?

It has been reported that a top human resources employee at Square Enix posted on a personal blog (that has since been taken down) that FFXI will terminate in order to make way for Final Fantasy XIV.

Attached is the supposed posting which says, “I think some amongst you will know, but FF11 started in 2002 … Well, this year it’ll end and the stage will shift to FF14.”

"Square Enix Ltd. has announced that the entire Final Fantasy XI universe, including all previous expansion packs and add-on scenarios, is now available for the first time ever in one download. Final Fantasy XI Ultimate Collection is available exclusively for Windows download."

"Square Enix Ltd. has today announced that the entire Final Fantasy XI universe, including all previous expansion packs and add-on scenarios, will be available for the first time ever in one download from 12th November 2009. Final Fantasy XI Ultimate Collection will be available exclusively as a Windows-based download, including support for Windows 7."

A group Final Fantasy XI players are apparently got fed up with the popular MMORPG. The upset fans are suing the publisher and developer, Square Enix, for numerous allegations relating to the mischievous policies within Final Fantasy XI and its expansion packs.

"One of the bigger announcements at this years E3 was Sony’s reveal that not only was SquareEnix working on Final Fantasy XIII but that they were also hard at work on Final Fantasy XIV . This came as quite a shock to the gaming populace as for quite some time Square was insistent that Project Rapture would not be a game in the Final Fantasy universe. Yet here we are with Final Fantasy XIV Online. Being a veteran of Final Fantasy XI since the US launch of the game this excited me quite a bit a..."

Final Fantasy XI has released on all major platforms, the 360, PS2, PC. However it did not appear on the PS3, which was strange at the time considering Square's strong support of the console. However a recent interview has revealed that Square actually intended to release the game on the next gen console, but one thing stopped them. The Sony dev just stopped coming, for what reason even FFXI producer Hiromichi Tanaka doesn't fully understand.

Within the past several years, Square Enix has been on the ball with remakes of their classic Final Fantasy games. And rumors of a remake for the huge and popular Final Fantasy 7 have been been buzzing around the net.

Square Enix president Yoichi Wada explains how there has been a remake boom lately, "The price of games is high, and consumers tend to be wary of buying games they are unfamiliar with".

That's an interesting reason for the increase of remake talk, but SE fans hope they do...

"FINAL FANTASY XI takes you into the world of Vana’diel during the aftermath of a great war, as you answer a desperate call to defend your people. In this first ever cross-platform massively multiplayer online game, you'll unite with other warriors as they save their world from utter destruction.

The digital version of FINAL FANTASY XI 2008 Edition available for Windows contains the original PC game FINAL FANTASY XI and all four expansion packs to take your adventure even further. These inc..."

Recently Square Enix implemented a new boss into the MMORPG Final Fantasy XI. This boss Pandemonium Warden was almost insanely powerful and many clans claimed to have fought the thing for hours without success as evident here.

However hearing the community's plea's Square Enix have said they are planning to make alterations to the boss. So anyone looking to have a South Park World of Warcraft like battle will be disappointed.

"The allure just isn't there anymore for the Final Fantasy titles and we have to ask why. Loyal fans try to create hype, but the games are just not combining new and old expectations. Maybe it's because every game, we have to warm up to new characters and worlds. Square sets itself up for hit and miss titles with no character regularity. The only motif running through the series I can identify is a blond guy and clueless protagonists. Most of the recent Final Fantasy games (dare I say Square ..."

Square-Enix's masterful MMO gets a new version as it is announced that Final Fantasy XI 2008 Edition will be releasing in Europe on 23rd May 2008. "The official FFXI site has up notes on the rewards you can garner for participating in the event this year - the very beautiful eggs pictured above with a very sleepy Moogle. How to actually participate in the Eggstravaganza event isn't on the site, but the event hasn't changed overmuch in the many years it's been running. For hints, Allakhazam has guides for the 2005 egg hunt and the 2007 egg hunt."

Well, this is a pretty interesting week, as we head into the home stretch of 2007 in Japan. Nine of this week's top ten are new releases, and the two main home console streams are neck-to-neck once again.

The top seller this week is the DS remake of Dragon Quest IV, selling a few short of 600k units. Next is the PS2 version of World Soccer Winning Eleven 2008, selling 294k units. Rounding out the top five are the PS3 version of World Soccer Winning Eleven 2008 (PS3 - 141k), last week's ...

Last week, I got off easy; I got away with only putting four of that pretty large list of notables in the title. With the games releasing this week, it looks like that's not possible. This is how you know it's the holidays.

That said, there are plenty of good games that came out last week, coming out this week, and will come out in the upcoming weeks. Console allegiances be damned; we're all gamers, and let's enjoy all these games. Defense Forces need not apply. Support good games!
