A while back, it was revealed that GRIN's unannounced Final Fantasy title hadn't actually been cancelled, and had instead been pulled by Square Enix after only six months of development due to quality concerns and placed under the wing of an unnamed studio.
Well, a tech demo for the game has been leaked onto the 'net. It is a sequel to Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, and will be released on PS3, 360 and PC.
Within the past several years, Square Enix has been on the ball with remakes of their classic Final Fantasy games. And rumors of a remake for the huge and popular Final Fantasy 7 have been been buzzing around the net.
Square Enix president Yoichi Wada explains how there has been a remake boom lately, "The price of games is high, and consumers tend to be wary of buying games they are unfamiliar with".
That's an interesting reason for the increase of remake talk, but SE fans hope they do...
"The allure just isn't there anymore for the Final Fantasy titles and we have to ask why. Loyal fans try to create hype, but the games are just not combining new and old expectations. Maybe it's because every game, we have to warm up to new characters and worlds. Square sets itself up for hit and miss titles with no character regularity. The only motif running through the series I can identify is a blond guy and clueless protagonists. Most of the recent Final Fantasy games (dare I say Square ..."
Last week, I got off easy; I got away with only putting four of that pretty large list of notables in the title. With the games releasing this week, it looks like that's not possible. This is how you know it's the holidays.
That said, there are plenty of good games that came out last week, coming out this week, and will come out in the upcoming weeks. Console allegiances be damned; we're all gamers, and let's enjoy all these games. Defense Forces need not apply. Support good games!

So, Nintendo sent out new PR, detailing their new release schedule. Unfortunately, that includes Brawl on Feb. 10
However, there are some very amusing and hidden gems. Assassin's Creed apparently is set to be released February '08, and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin will be releasing on January 21st. There are some delays, including February 4th for Professor Layton (originally Dec. 3). It is shaping up to be a great end of '07/early '08.
Take note that this is a partial list. Most not...
If you're a DS owner and a Final Fantasy fan, chances are you're highly anticipating this spin-off of the Final Fantasy series. The game was a success in Japan, although as some say, it was "dumbed down" for the Japanese gamers who mostly are not used to real-time strategy games.
For the English version, a few changes have been made and added. Read on for the hands-on impression of the English version.
Known changes:
- Increased difficulty
- A bonus content (still not clear what it is...
During E3, IGN was able to score an interview to discuss Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. We learned several things about the game. One of these changes is the addition of "never-ending" dungeons to the North American version. They are hoping that this game will illustrate that their can be "epic" RPGs on portable systems.
The creators seem very pleased with this game, but still discuss features they wish they could have added into the game. It looks like this game will meet our expe...

"In October, Square-Enix is planning to release a series of Final Fantasy miniature trading figures. The first volume of the 60mm tall, pocket-sized characters will presumably form part of a growing collection of releases in the future. The pieces are limited in availability, so GamerSquad would advise acting with haste come October if you fancy grabbing them and a factory sealed container to hold them in."
For those of you in North America who are looking for that "sweet loot" that only seems to be obtainable in Japan wait no further. I just got word that Play-Asia is now offering a limited edition version of the DS Lite which is 'themed' with the latest Final Fantasy game for the DS; Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings.
The DS is white in color with the FFXII logo and a few of the Revenant Wings characters on the top of the DS Lite.
Within the box you get:
1x Nintendo DS Lite; Final Fan...
Square Enix has confirmed that both Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker (for the DS) and Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors (for the Wii) will be released in North America beginning the fourth quarter of this year. Of interest to Final Fantasy stalwarts of the console strategy mindset meanwhile will be the company's plans to localize both Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions for PSP this October and Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings this Winter under the "Ivalice ...
"One of the most highly anticipated DS games has seen its first reviews appear in the Japanese press. The quarterly Dengeki DS & Wii Style will go down in history (quick -- update the appropriate Wikipedia pages!) as having provided the first reviews of Square Enix's Final Fantasy XII sequel, Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings.
Three editors from the six strong review staff shared scores and opinions on the game. Misawa, a super hardcore gamer who likes western games, gave the game an 85 out ..."
A few screenshots of FFXII: Revenant Wings - The sequel to the popular FFXII for PS2. From the looks of it...This game will be a Strategy-RPG?
A couple of character arts of Square Enix's upcoming sequel for PS2's FFXII.
For those interested in the upcoming nintendo DS title Revenant Wings, Gametrailers have a lot of videos up for the game, the lastest having being put up April 10th and the page should be updated regulary as more trailers are released.
