It seems that internet supersleuth superannuation has caught wind of news yet again: Square Enix may indeed be working on Final Fantasy XIII-2. Of course, given their recent misfortune, one has to wonder if this is a last ditch effort to salvage their situation or portents of worse things to come.

The Final Fantasy XIII videos and demo have shown the characters walking along some very linear paths, leading many fans to worry that the game will be too linear. Well, Kotaku have gotten their hands on a (supposed) map showing the area you'll be exploring during the first five to six hours of Final Fantasy XIII and have pointed out that it doesn't look very explorative. Apparently the world opens up much later in the game though.

Obviously, there will be sp...

"Sonia Im, Senior PR Manager for Square Enix America, has posted a very interesting update on her Twitter account tonight. Attached with the image above, Sonia wrote: “The memo inside hinted at something cool most of you can participate in a few days from now :)”.

I’m going to guess it’s a demo. I think the memo is basically saying: “Final Fantasy XIII is releasing in Japan soon and it may be hard to survive until March 9, but a demo will be releasing soon and hopefully it’ll tide you over..."

The Japanese Final Fantasy XIII box art has apparently been released, revealing that the game has no optional or mandatory install, and only uses up 500kb of hard drive space for a save game.

A Final Fantasy XIII box-art featuring Lightning riding Odin's horse was spotted at the Tokyo Game Show today, leaving many sites speculating whether or not this is the official box art.
It might just be a stand-in until the actual box-art is made, or it might be the real-deal. But for the moment I'll stick this in the "Rumor" category.

A new Final Fantasy XIII character was recently revealed in the form of Lightning's younger sister, Serah. But some people have noticed that she bears a striking resemblance to Kurumi Imari, a character in the strange high-school hentai game Bible Black, and some even claim that Imari's appearance was inspiration for the character. While there are some similarities in both their hair and clothing, I'd personally chalk it up to being a coincidence.

If a hour-long playable demo isn't enough to tide you over until Final Fantasy XIII's release, then here is some good news for you. A new FFXIII trailer was recently shown at Square Enix's private screening of their upcoming Blu-Ray movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Chidlren Complete. Rumor has it, the new FFXIII trailer will be on the Advent Children Complete disc, with the demo.

There is no info on whether the West will get the trailer with their copy of Advent Children Complete. But no do...

Including the much anticipated RPG Final Fantasy XIII coming to both the PS3 and 360. According to some anonymous tipsters it appears that Final Fantasy XIII may well come to Japan on the 360 despite previous claims. With news coming in that the Final Fantasy XIII demo could possibly be 90+ minutes long, it should come as no surprise that Square Enix may be planning to sell the demo separately, as at this time the only planned release for the demo is alongside Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete.
