The official release date has been revealed for the re-release of Final Fantasy IX as a PSOne Classic on the North American Playstation Store of the PSP and Playstation 3.

"Long out of print and largely considered to be the best of the PS one's Final Fantasy titles, Final Fantasy IX is finally back in digital download form, available across the European Playstation Store beginning today, Square Enix has announced."

Shinji Hashimoto of Square Enix reveals the price and download size for the upcoming PSOne Classic release of Final Fantasy IX on the Japanese Playstation Store.

Through the Square Enix Members Twitter, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada has confirmed that the last mainline Final Fantasy of the PlayStation era, Final Fantasy IX, will be seeing a release on the PlayStation Network.

Pricing details and release dates will become available during the official announcement.

According to producer Shinji Hashimoto, the idea of bringing Final Fantasy IX to the Playstation Network got plenty of approvals when the subject was brought up during a recent Square Enix board meeting.
