"To put it lightly, the early days of the Playstation 3 were bleak. An extremely high price combined with a thin game library kept hardware adoption rates low and software adoption rates even lower. In these dark days the PS3 still managed to produce a few glimmers of hope."
Because trophy support didn’t became mandatory until the start of 2009, plenty of great Playstation 3 exclusive games missed out on the opportunity. Here are the top five early PS3-only titles that need a trophy patch.
The Playstation 3 has plenty of great exclusive games. Unfortunately, some of those titles don't get the recognition (in terms of sales) they deserve.
Sony is reportedly about to launch something similar to their greatest hits for the PS3. For those that don't know what the "Greatest Hits" line of games was, it meant that the game had sold well and gotten overall good reviews. When a game got Greatest Hits status, the price of it got dropped to about $20 and it got a "Greatest Hits" logo on the case.
Sony is supposedly about to launch something similar for the PS3 in Japan. There's a catch though! The games will sell for about 3800 yen, ...
"Looking to bag goodies for free (you filthy spendthrift)? Then US honorary Scrooges can look forward to nabbing demos for Turok and FIFA Street 3 and trailers for Dynasty Warriors 6 and Syphon Filter: Combat Ops - while EU tight arses can slink off with an NBA 08 demo a trailer for Brothers In Arms: Hells Highway (also US).
Those willing to invest a few cents or pennies in Sonys online store can scoop a Motor storm Double Track Pack and a selection of songs for Rock Band, while EU mone..."
Sony will be releasing downloadable content for Folklore. It's not much, but there will be two packs. It will introduce four new quests and costumes. The release will be sometime this month. The first pack is called The Kidnapped Folk and follows the original game while the second will be called Bottom of the Sea and follow up the first downloadable pack. If these prove to be successful and receive positive feedback, it's likely there's a strong possibility of more to come.
"First, I would like to thank you for helping make our little game a big success. Without your support, deep and innovative games like Folklore would never be made, and quite frankly, I would be out of a job.
So, youve played through Folklore, been to Hell Realm and back, and you want MORE??? Well, youre in luck! Starting this month, and only on the PLAYSTATION Network, youll be able to purchase new downloadable add-on packs each to include a new costume for either Ellen OR Keats, a c..."
This is a weird one this is, it seems that Ebgames have not read, nor seen anything to do with Folklore, since the front page sports the following description for Folklore, an Action RPG recently released on the PS3:
Two heroes, seeking Lucky Charms and answers to a mystery, journey from a small Irish village to the netherworld. They must suck up the magically delicious souls of the residents to succeed.
As we start trekking towards the holiday season, multitudes of games are on their way out, some looking for a place inside a console or someone's lucky game shelf. Some others are looking for a place inside a closet, only to magically reappear under a Christmas tree.

Bleach: The Blade of Fate (DS)
Bleach: Shattered Blade (Wii)
Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast (Wii)
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions (PSP)

Well those that had at one point hoped that they had made Amazon pay for their mistake in pricing Folklore and Lair at only £14.95 (and that includes me) were unfortunate enough today to be greated with an email in our Inbox.
The gist of the email is simple, Amazon are sorry to inform us that the pricing was incorrectly displayed, and that our orders have effectively been cancelled. *sighs*
EDITOR EDIT: It also seems as though the release date for Folklore has been brought forward by Am...
It's time for yet another Semi-Official preview, and this time, it is the turn for the recently demoed game Folklore. Coming Exclusively to the Playstation, and a Demo that is only expected to be available till the 31st, if you wont be getting a PS3 by then, or wont be able to download the demo, or simply want to learn more about the game, then the Preview is most definitely the thing to read.
The main points from the Preview are noted be...
Many people said "I wont get a Next Gen-Systems due to it's High Priced Machine (especially with the PS3) and the High Priced Games". Well if they didn't get it before, now is definitely the time to get the PS3, especially if you've been even the slightest bit interested in the upcoming Playstation 3 Exclusives Lair & Folklore, the latter for which a demo was shortly released on the Playstation Network.
The reason as to why they should be bought is extremely simple. The price of the two ga...
The European PSN Store has been updated with a number of new additions. The exclusive Folklore playable demo is now available to download, but for a limited time only. The update also includes a number of trailers from the Games Convention in Leipzig.
One of the most anticipated titles for the PlayStation 3 is making its way to the PlayStation Portable, according to Sony Game Producer Bill Ritch. The exact details about the game have not been revealed but this is definately good news for fans of the game.
Folklore is already out in Japan, but has not been released in Europe or North America. Even so, downloadable content has already been planned. 6 "Quest" packs will be able to download for the game, each containing a variety of new additions for the game.
Sony will be updating the European PlayStation Store on Wednesday night, instead of Thursday to upload content related to the Games Convertion in Leipzig, Germany. The content will include mostly trailers, but for a limited time only, the english Folklore demo will be available to download.
"Exuding all the rendered quality and storytelling prowess of Resident Evil or Silent Hill, the Gaia-developed adventure (brainchild of Shin Megami Tensei creator Kouji Okada) looks like a real-time action title thats packed with RPG leanings and takes an element of its battle inspiration from the Ghostbusters franchise.
Truly beautiful aesthetics ably showcase the PS3s graphical powers while the in-game design, battles, and atmospherics also appear to be little short of top-drawer.

"There's something to be said for playing through a brand new game without understanding what the *bleep* is going on for the most part. That something is "Eh?". Psychological survival horror games have that effect, but that's because they're the product of the sort of special 'planning meetings' down the local which turn into debauched sessions featuring - in no particular order - eastern European spirits, that barmaid your mate wouldn't touch with yours, a minor psychotic episode after someo..."

Game Republics Folklore does look extremely impressive in a visual sense, and while it smacks heavily of borrowed influences across various gaming genres, we must also concede that there isnt much on offer across todays videogame scene that can be truly labelled as original anymore. So, from that standpoint, yes, Folklore could well be a fairly standout title when it arrives in October on the PlayStation 3.
"Folklore is a unique, dark fantasy adventure inspired by western fairy tales. Set in the mysterious town of Doolin, two strangers, Keats and Ellen, are drawn together to uncover a mysterious legend in a remote village that exists on the border between dreams and reality.
Developed by Tokyos Game Republic under legendary game creator Yoshiki Okamoto, executive producer for Onimusha, Devil May Cry and Resident Evil, Folklore is a unique, dark fantasy adventure inspired by western fairy tale..."
Folklore was released on the Japanese store a few days ago and PSU tests out the game. They talk about how different characters affect the game yo are playing, such as cut scenes and what enemies you will fight. The graphics are superb but not up to par with other games such as heavenly sword and Uncharted. Feel free to download the game if you have the time to download a 1 Gig demo
