Gamestop has announced today that they will no longer be accepting any Nintendo Gamecube trade-ins starting April 2nd, 2012. This also includes any Nintendo Gamecube accessories though you will be able to buy any Gamecube related things from them until their stock runs out.
"Today's sleek, powerful games consoles are a far cry from the clunky boxes of yesteryear, with their basic graphics, cartridges and cassette tapes. The launch of the Game Boy Colour transformed the image of the games consoles, turning it in to a device you'd be proud to whip out of your pocket on the train journey home."
In an amusing and not well thought out move by the European Parliament, they desire a "red button" on consoles for parents to be able to push when they see something "morally objectionable" in front of their kid's eyes. James Walker believes this already existed with the reset button. I would take it a step further and go ahead and say that button is called the "Power Button"
