Microsoft today revealed that seven new games will be joining the Platinum Collection lineup, the equivalent to Platinum Hits from North America, in Japan.
The Gears of War franchise has been exclusive on the Xbox 360 since the first game launched in 2006, though Epic President Mike Capps said he would like it if the franchise also came out to the Playstation 3.
Cliff Blezinski, the creator of Gears of Wars runs through 6 important lessons in creating AAA games. According to Cliff, gaming companies need to strive to make a game that will last forever, rather than a game that just gets good reviews.

It has been revealed that the 4th Title Update for Gears of War 2 has now been released on Xbox Live and is starting to filter throughout the world to hopefully improve the multiplayer experience for Gears 2 fans. Australia gets to see its software sales for 16th of November! What topped the all consoles category? Surprisingly it's the game that's had a lot of criticism, Wii Music! Call of Duty: World at War then took second and third place on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 respectively.

With the first batch of disappointment coming in the form of no GoW2 for the PC Canadian gamers also have another disappointment on their hands.

Whether accidental or not, retail store chain K-Mart are getting heavy punishment for leaking copies of Fable 2 early. Not only are Microsoft demanding a $10 000 fine (small change really) the stores are now banned from selling Gears of War 2 for the first two weeks of its release, which will surely hurt them and greatly benefit there competitors.
On Metacritic, one of the Playstation 3's big titles LittleBigPlanet has an unusually low user-score of 6.4/10, compared to the positive 95% the game has recieved from professional reviewers. According to various game sites, it appears as though Xbox 360 fanboys are on the attack, giving the game ridiculously low user-scores and negative comments.

So admittedly, E3 2008 was a disappointment for all this year, but that isn't to say that there weren't some great games on show. Resident Evil 5, Gears of War 2 and Resistance 2 all made an appearance, but was it enough for them to claim the title of Best of E3 ?

Yep, it's been confirmed. Live Free or Die Hard (aka Die Hard 4) director Len Wiseman is set to direct the Gears of War movie we mentioned previously. Chris Morgon has been attached for the screenplay as well, who has written Cellular, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, and Wanted. Wiseman was also in charge of the Underworld movies. No timeline or release date is set for the film, which is actually kind of good to hear, as you'll see.

Updated maps, achievements, preview of Gears of War 2 and trailers are just some of the things that will be included in a new 2-disc re-release of Gears of War for the US market. The original having sold incredibly well, this gives a chance for those that have yet to play the game.
It is currently set to be released on 24th June 2008 for both the PC and XBOX360. No news on the European version as of yet, but it's likely to come eventually.

A rumor has surfaced that says GoW Redux will be coming next month according to Gamestop's placement. On Gamestop's site, the game is titled "Gears of War with Maps". Also revealed was the price ($39.99) and the pre-order shipment date, which is 6/24/2008.
Its been only a week since Epic Games released the first Gears of War 2 gameplay footage and the game is under the spotlight already. The website azfamily.com are questioning the level of gore and detail in the game. They bring to attention the chainsaw attacks where the player chainsaws a person in half, and "meat shield" which the player uses a corpse to protect themselves from enemy fire.
Six publishers showcased more than 40 new titles for Microsofts Xbox 360 in San Fransisco and Los Angeles, Gears of War 2 being in the presentation, as well as Fable 2.
However, Halo Wars, a real-time strategy game said to have been released late 2008 had not been confirmed, which means Gears 2 will be the biggest Xbox 360 game this year.

Epic Games today released one screenshot for the upcoming Gears of War 2. Gears of War 2 is currently scheduled for release in November 2008 and will use a heavily upgraded version of the Unreal Engine 3.

Steve Wysowski, from Xbox Focus says that he loves Gears of War greatly, but he then rambles on about how he thinks Gears of War 2 will suck when it allegedly releases in November of this year. Mark Rein of Epic Games, has told Eurogamer today that the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament III could include a special Easter Egg related product of Gears of War 2 to get gamers drooling just that little bit more. He did not state much on what it would be but he did mention that you might have to keep a close eye on the Unreal Tournament 3 disc.

Well folks, if you remember yesterday, I posted an article about Gears of War 2 appearing New York's Comic-Con. Well, after videogaming247 contacted Epic about the appearence, Mark Rein denied that Gears of War 2 will be showing up at the event. He says, "I'm not aware that's we're showing anything there." It seems as if though the event was just a giant mess.
Ah... Comic-Con, the place where you can get Spidey's autograph, shake hands with Wolverine, it's hard to imagine anything better than that. But what's this? Gears of War 2 at Comic-Con? Yes folks, you heard me right, Gears of War 2. Gears of War 2 will be appearing to give attendees a special glimpse of the game with the epic chainsaw battles on Sunday, April 20th.
