Some say the PSP is failure compared to the DS. Would a failure have sold over 71 million consoles worldwide? Would a failure have some of the best handheld RPGS a gamer could get? The PSP is still one of the better portable media and region free gaming devices on the market and best of all, its so affordable.

Jason Trent with GoozerNation writes: "Sony has just announced its PSP Remaster Series for the PlayStation 3. This is a collection of PSP games being released on Blu-Ray for use on the PlayStation 3 and featuring HD graphics, special features, and even multiplayer. Surprisingly, Sony also promises that game saves created on the PS3 versions of PSP games will be usable on the PSP, and that PSP saves will be usable on the PS3. This is great news for players of the first announced title to get t...
"With the 3DS inbound stateside in the next few weeks and the NGP looking to dazzle us with its unbeatable shinyness, it’s fairly safe to say the PSP is coming to its end. We’ve decided to celebrate its checkered life by recounting a few of the best PSP games."
Sometimes it's just fun to be mean, especially when there are no real consequences. Be honest, if you could poke the bear without getting mauled, you'd poke the bear. Video games at times provide an unparelled outlet with which gamers can be real jerks. And among all of gaming's jerks, there's no bigger than Kratos. New England Gamer reflects on the ghost of Sparta in preperation for, well... God of War: Ghost of Sparta.
The June 1st edition of Playstation Pulse revealed the top ten downloads for the Playstation Portable (PSP) currently on the North American Playstation Store.
"Both Sony and Microsoft could learn a little something from Nintendo and how they handle their major franchises and mascots. Microsoft has milked the Halo franchise to the point that the original developer can’t stand the idea of making another one. Sony on the other hand has pushed the God of War franchise a bit too much (six releases, with a seventh coming in Ghost of Sparta in under five years), but hasn’t sacrificed quality for quantity as fans of the series and critics alike both rave ab..."
"In the world of games the male lead has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders. Among the things a hero has to accomplish is being a tough guy or a bad-ass in this case. While plenty have accomplished this throughout the history of gaming, few have made major impacts in gaming in the last ten years. What does it take to be a bad-ass you ask? Well first of all you have to be able to hold your own in a fight despite all the odds being stacked against you. There's no denying that the guys on o..."
The folks at G4TV have made a music video of Kratos singing the song 'Sex Therapy' by Robyn Thicke. Every God of War fan should check it out just for laughs.

We have just created a new section for the site called "AAG's Developer Profiles". Each fortnight we will pick a developer to profile so that our readers can get an insight into the developers that make the games we know and love. Our first developer profile is on the great SCE Santa Monica Studio. Enjoy.
Over the past decade, Sony has been quite active at creating new franchises for their Playstation platforms. Their stable of new intellectual properties are diverse and, more importantly, top notch in quality.
"Today, we're putting that rumor to rest and compiling our list of the best games the PSP has to offer you at this very moment. These are the games we think are the most fun to play. These are the ones we find our handhelds getting drawn toward. These are the ones that make train rides to work and the horrible TV shows our significant others watch tolerable.
These are the Top 25 PSP Games of All Time."
"The question of the week this week involves the many different weapons introduced with gaming; some are possible but others are completely too bad-ass to be true. Weapons have been very created especially in the first person shooter genre (Including one of the most creative guns I have ever heard; the Landshark Gun).
For my favorite weapon I’m going to have to go with the Landshark gun from Armed and Dangerous. Actually, it’s better to say EVERY weapon from Armed and Dangerous, but we’ll f..."
"Today, my husband and I were talking about names for our expectant child. I told him since I named our daughter he could name our son. He's decided on a name from 'God of War'. My son is going to be named after a make-believe cartoon character - Kratos. FML"

"The third day of Christmas is upon us! Now all those festivities are out of the way, it's time to burn off all those extra calories with a bit of thumb twiddling!
Today we run through March: a typically busy month for videogame releases, in anticipation for Easter..."
"Sony and third party publishers neglected to add many games to the PSP's software library in the second half of 2008. Nintendo calmed its usually aggressive handheld release schedule this year as well, allowing, atypically, third party publisher to shine with content as diverse as "Lock's Quest," "Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword," lots of Square-Enix role-playing games and Activision's unstoppable line of "Guitar Hero: On Tour" games."

The suit was filed in late February by Jonathan Bissoon-Dath and Jennifer Barrette-Herzog, both of Davis, California. SCEA and Jaffe filed responses with the Court on August 29th.
In the complaint, Bissoon-Dath identifies himself as "the author of a seri..."
Another week has passed, which means it's time for some Australian game sales!
Mario Kart Wii has snatched the lead from the Wii Fit game, the Wii Play bundle is still selling steadily in third, followed by the oh-so-popular Super Smash Bros. Brawl and SingStar Amped.
Most of the games in the overall sales list are either the from the Wii or the DS. With all the success Nintendo has been having lately, I'm not surprised. To check out some console-specific sales, hit the source.

"A brief trailer toward the end of Sony's news conference at E3 today gave a glimpse of God of War III, just announced for the PS3. The trailer was all pre-rendered, featuring Kratos atop the rubble of a ruined city, bellowing "In the end, there will be only chaos!"
Of course, more on this as it moves. Just wanted to get word out that yes, God of War III is in the pipeline."
With a little post on their official website and after God of Wars: Chains of Olympus went Gold in Japan, Ready at Dawn has announced that they are done developing for the PSP. The NPD Group recently released their tracked sales numbers for April 2008, for the four week tracking period that ends on May 3rd, 2008. Many thanks to sonycowboy at NeoGAF and the NPD Group for the numbers.
April saw the release of two major games: Grand Theft Auto IV, which shattered industry records, and Mario Kart Wii, the latest installment in Nintendo's Mario Kart franchise. You would think that there would be strong sales all around for the three current generation consoles, but ...
"When it comes to badasses, there are a few specific folks who come to mind. Chuck Norris, with his roundhouse kicks of fury, Steven Segal, with the ponytail of doom, and Martha Stewart and her soul-stealing stare. However, none of these pillars of destruction quite match up to Sparta's greatest warrior, Kratos (Martha Stewart comes awfully close, but I've got to think Kratos could take her so long as she doesn't get the drop on him)."
March's NPD numbers are in, and boy are they a shocker. As always, many thanks to the NPD Group and sonycowboy at NeoGAF for reporting and the actual numbers.
The numbers can be found in the quote.
In regards to hardware sales, the Wii sales are astounding, taking into account that there was only one blockbuster release in March, that being Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Looking at the February NPD, the DS and the Wii both shot up from the previous month. The other systems kept relatively ...
As many people that have already picked up God of War: Chains of Olympus for the PSP have seen, the back cover of the manual contains a message that mentions God of War 3 coming soon. PSU is now saying that Gamestop and EBGames will start accepting preorders for the game starting TOMORROW!
"Retail copies of God of War: Chains of Olympus on the PSP popped up in the office this morning and brought with them the promise of blood on the PlayStation 3.
God of War III is coming soon.
Just like the Chains of Olympus ad that was on the back of the God of War II instruction manual, the back of the Chains booklet shows the traditional Omega symbol with PS3 written inside of it. The three is quite large, and below it, the ad says "Coming Soon" and "PlayStation 3.""

"The March issue of EGM should be arriving for subscribers around this time, and as usual Quartermann has some rumors for us, and particularly juicy ones at that!
The one I am most interested in is that Dead Rising 2 is in the works (ya think?) for multiple consoles, but instead of Capcom developing it directly, a Los Angeles based developer is taking care of it. Dead Rising 2 rumors seem to have become a sort of fad, something that people will throw out there just for some news. I hope thi..."
"Can anyone explain to me how having ONE console would be bad for gamers? Or game developers for that matter? asks Jaffe. One game publisher would be bad. One giant game developer would be bad. I get how those things would hurt gamers. But why would one unified hardware platform?"
I bet you came running after seeing the articles title didn't you? Well sorry to sadden you with the news that the game will be released in 2009. Such a long time away. TheGameReviews Got a confirmation after speaking with a Dev at the Video Game awards and they also learned that the game will be running at 1080p and will support SIXAXIS and Rumble.
Sony Computer Entertainment has now officially confirmed the long anticipated sequel God of War III for the Playstation 3. This doesn't really come as a surprise as many knew there will be a third, but it was a matter of when it will be announced and today just happens to be the day.
The confirmation came from a Sony spokesperson where he stated that Cory Barlong, game director of God of War II is leaving SCEA, Santa Monica studio. Then continues saying that how the God of War group is ve...
"Cory Barlog- "What is up God of War fans? Sorry for the long hiatus but things have been crazy here at Casa De Kratos much to do. I thought I would come out of my somewhat self imposed media coma to let everyone know that the PSP demo discs are freaking done baby!!! As I type these words, legions of carrier Harpies are being dispatched to deliver the sweet UMD goodness that is God of War: Chains of Olympus Special edition: Battle of Attica Demo Disc otherwise know as GOW: COO SE:BoADD. This week. we covered a gamut of topics. We first talked a bit about our Wii Giveaway. Then we got into the banhammer that was dropped on Halo 3 Epsilon players and the 24 hour ban dropped on Call of Duty 4 beta fans. We talked about the free games that just came out from Ubisoft and EA, which we hope is a trend in the right direction for older games. We also hit on the Bioshock multiplayer issue and digital distribution being the savior of PC Gaming.
Recent news told you that God of War: Chains of Olympus was not going to be arriving to the Playstation Portable until early 2008 but now they have given you a more in depth date on it. March 4th 2008 will be when it is arriving as long as you live in the US that is, as the European release date has not been stated yet and is still down as early 2008 as you would expect.
"We've been following this for a few weeks now, hoping it would turn out as rumour but the delay is now effectively official.
Sony's Leipzig Games Convention God of War: Chains of Olympus press release states an early 2008 release for the game, which had originally been expected to form part of this Christmas' PSP line-up.
And although we've suffered them before, this time it isn't simply a European delay, either. A quick check of some of the major US online retailers has revealed a simi..."
The Developers of God of War, could have been found last Friday on the Playstation site. Answering questions to of any fan that had registered to the site before July 30th. If you weren't one of those lucky ones that managed to question the developers themselves, don't worry as you can still get the information that they revealed. You will be surprised at the info they told us, and here is it. The list says what the Chains of Olympus will have.
Also it seems the Demo that the people will b...
This is so insane, that you can't even imagine it. Morpheon Mods have created a custom PSP that has been airbrushed metallic bronze and then it was tarnished to give it a worn and old sort of look. There are hand-sculpted symbols that have been copper-leafed onto the PSP and there are even real chains that edge the system. Even the buttons were removed to be replaced with copper ones.
Even crazier is that the shoulder buttons have been removed and then crystal red buttons are added with s...

"While the game may be delayed until next year, that doesn't mean we can't get a little taste of God of War: Chains of Olympus in 2007. Apparently, the development team revealed to Kotaku that we'd be seeing a demo of the PSP blockbuster on September 7, which is now a very big day for Sony's portable.
They also posted several comments made by game director Ru Weerasuriya:
"It's no easy task bringing God of War to the PSP. Fans have come to expect these huge landscapes, complex gameplay a..."
A new blog update from Cory Barlog // Creative Director, God of War: Chains of Olympus. He says "Now that PSP will use its full CPU processing power, God of war chains of Olympus will fully utilize this feature."
Cory also says the combat has been coming along nicely. The demo that was shown a few weeks ago looks great. But with this new feature available it could open the door to something even greater.
"Chains of Olympus is one of the first titles that utilises the extra CPU power that was recently unlocked by the current version 3.5 firmware. Thats according to the titles creative director, Cory Barlog, who wrote on Sonys official blog: "Many people are asking if God of War: Chains of Olympus is going to take advantage of this. The short answer is yes we are!""
"God of War: Chains of Olympus delivers highly detailed graphics, incredible animation detail and yet another adventure in the dark and brutal world of Greek mythology that fans of the God of War franchise have come to know and love. SCEA revealed today that the "special edition" demo is coming in September."
"After dishing out some gameplay-related details straight from God of War II game director Cory Balrog, we're now releasing some in-game screenshots featuring God of Badass, err, War directly from the video game's developer, Ready At Dawn (courtesy of PlayFrance).
As you can see from the game's image above, Kratos now carries a shield to make up for the loss of his dodge moves (PSP doesn't have a right analog stick for it remember?). We're also treated to a menacing screenie of a Cyclop bad..."
That's right, you can get a free UMD demo disc (while supplies last) from Sony, themselves. Just head on over to the source link and fill out the nessicary information and BAM, wait and then profit.
