Activision has registered domain names for a possible new game called GoldenEye Reloaded. Could it be a PS3 and Xbox 360 remake of the classic Nintendo 64 shooter?
All Age Gaming's Michael Brennan takes a look at the long awaited re-imagining of the Nintendo 64 classic for the Wii, GoldenEye 007. Has the Wii finally got a high quality first person shooter to call its own? Read on to find out.
"Bond games have ranged from the legendary (GoldenEye) to the rubbish (GoldenEye: Rogue Agent), but they’ve almost always focused exclusively on combat - sometimes stealthy, but mainly loud and explosive. In addition, there are generally a few gadgets tossed into the mix, and titles like Everything or Nothing have incorporated vehicle sequences.
But there has always, and we do mean always, been that fourth element missing. Seduction."
"The opening scene is structurally very similar. The layout where you begin is almost identical and you have the same silenced pistol to take out the patrolling Russian soldier, who's packing the classic AK-47 machine gun. And yes, the first tower opposite the tunnel also has the infamous sniper rifle sitting there for you."
"It took Nintendo a couple of years but they really got in the groove with their E3 conference this year after two disappointing presentations in 2008 and 2009. They seemed to be back on their game this year as they finally were able to find the balance with announcements that appeal to both the casual and core gamer crowds. We digested the press conference over night and look back at the good, the bad, the ugly, and what was missing in the Nintendo's E3 keynote presentation."
"Much in the same way that fighters in the mold of Street Fighter II conquered consoles for years in the nineteen-nineties, so has the first-person shooter over the last ten plus years."
"We told you about rumors concerning a remake of N64’s Goldeneye. The rumor was born from a domain name reservation: GoldenEyeGame.com. A leacked Activision survey revealed a Goldeneye remake for Wii!"
"Many James Bond fans considered Goldeneye to be the revival of a slipping hero. Pierce Brosnan was seen as the actor that brought a character thought dead after the end of the cold war back to life. Millions of fans went to the theatre to witness this revival. In turn, millions of fans went to the store to pick up this fantastic game. After a noted slump in the movies following the departure of Roger Moore, United Artists was looking for a way to bring Bond back to the present and maintai..."
"With the recent rise in popularity of HD-ports of old Rare titles such as Perfect Dark and Banjo-Kazooie, many gamers have been wondering which title deserves an HD upgrade/port and given the commercial success of each Rare title, it’s hard to choose. From first-person shooters, platformers, and fighting games, not only does the company have a plethora of choices to pick from, but a strong case could be made for almost any of them. In no particular order, here are the top five contenders for ..."
"Navi: Ocarina of Time
She may have been pretty helpful. However, here constant nagging was apparent from the very beginning of the game. “Hey! Wake Up! Look!” It would take a hero of Hyrule not to slap this fairy with a fly swatter and go back to sleep. Oh, but this was just the beginning. Through the rest of the game, she would nag you to death by pointing out every little thing to you. If you were trying to sneak up on some unsuspecting enemies, she would assuredly give away your position ..."
"GoldenEye is a legendary FPS which is source of a lot of rumors concerning a sequel of a remake of the original game. A new Internet domain’s name has been registered by Activision on superannuation: goldenevegame.com (click here). Is that a sign of the game’s revival?"
Here are two videos showing some of the best and worst FPS' ever released. Not all of your favourites will be in there but I had a laugh watching some footage of the worst games ever. It beggars belief how some of these games ever got released.
Check out these two youtube videos of some of the best and worst FPS' out there. It doesn't include all of them but the "worst" video is definitely worth a look, some hilariously bad games in there such as Rogue Warrior and Extreme Paint Brawl.
Neil Long is not happy, as his blog entry attests to. It seems that reflecting on some of his old favourites has made him come to realise that those fantastic games are... well, not so fantastic. Check out the source to find out about games becoming outdated, games that are timeless and some titles that just aren't that great when revisited later down the track.
A few hilarious satires of warning labels from some choice games going all the way back to the SNES and Genesis. If you are in the mood for a quick chuckle, check out some of the images.
"Shooters truly are a haven for folks that enjoy inflicting massive amounts of pain on the enemies they encounter in games (read: not in real life). It’s good, harmless fun and a nice way to release some pent-up frustration without causing any property damage (or doing anything else you shouldn’t do that would land you in hot water).
Of course, there are certain weapons that are much more adept than others for this purpose. So here is a look at some of the most sinister weapons that we’ve c..."

"5.) Donkey Kong Country
Release Date: November 25, 1994

The year was 1994, and the Super Nintendo was in trouble. With most of the gaming world focused on Sonys upcoming PlayStation, and others preoccupied with Segas Genesis

Sigh, remember back in the day when you and your buddies could hook up your Nintendo 64 during vacation bible school and play Goldeneye until all hours of the evening?
It seems with the rise of the internet - this is becoming less and less of a commonplace. Now you are meeting up online with people from other countries, let alone your friends.
And with the rise of how competitive gaming is becoming, you don't want to share any of your precious 1080p screen space.
ScrewAttack goes through their 20 most influential entities in the gaming industry - dating as far back as the Atari 2600. Ranging from hardware innovations, energy drinks, LAN parties, to even specific games - this list is a worthwhile read to see what has influenced where gaming has been, and what has made it so great today.
Have you ever noticed how most games based on movies tend to be not so great? Even when the movie was really good, and there is huge potential for an awesome game, the potential doesn't shine through, and the games come out seeming lower than average. Part of the reason is that game makers often want to have it out the day or close to whenever the movie airs, selling more copies. Edge Online talks about some reasons why these games tend to be subpar.
Everyone (Sony fans, and Final Fantasy fans) seem to be clamoring about FFXIII not being PS3 exclusive. This isn't the first time this has happened ladies and gentlemen. Lest you forget that VII (arguably one of the best in the series) was originally intended for the N64?
GamesRadar goes through a list of 10 more titles that brought out a similar reaction with fans.
"Rare has a list of ten 360 titles that might be heading to the 360. Here are the list of games:

We could all agree that the Nintendo 64 was a fantastic console. It featured some of the greatest games of all time, it introduced us to the modern console FPS, and it had the best multiplayer experience at the time. Because of this, its very hard to make a list of just ten top games. GameDaily has managed to do it. Do you agree with their choices?
In the new issue of Xbox World 360, we're introduced to screenshots of the canned GoldenEye XBLA game. The XBLA version of GoldenEye featured much improved textures, improved draw distance, new explosions/flame effects, and new in-game objects, as well as an online-multiplayer mode. However, due to a dispute with Nintendo, the game was never released on the XBLA service.
"The GoldenEye port has been in development at Rare for several months, and was never intended as a remake. The XBLA version would have featured the same graphics, maps and weapons from the N64 version, but with the crucial addition of online multiplayer over Xbox Live. Several characters wouldn't make the cut due to licensing issues with certain actors."
"The biggest problem with great games is how everybody is always jabbering on about how damn wonderful they are. Which got us thinking: surely even the very finest videogames must have the odd blemish on their flawless complexions, the occasional fly in an otherwise unspoiled tub of ointment?
Click below to see what really got GamerSquads goat in the likes of Goldeneye, Half-Life, Halo, and Zelda: Ocarina of Time."
