"For a lot of hardcore fans of the racing genre, Gran Turismo represents the ultimate virtual driving experience. But after six years of starts, stops and teases, when GT5 finally crossed the retail release finish line, it arguably left some players disappointed over how behind-the-times the game felt in certain ways—while on numerous levels there’s no denying GT5’s quality as a top-notch product, the absence of, say, full damage modeling on all cars in a 2010 racer is a noticeable omission. "Sony never has been a slouch at E3 presentations, although some would say that their offerings have dwindled in recent years. That being said, the Sony we’ll see at this year’s E3 is going to be nothing like the Sony we’ve seen since “600 U.S. Dollars” and “giant enemy crabs.” Without a doubt, Sony has had its best year in the PlayStation 3’s lifespan, largely in part to the redesigned Slim and the first affordable, and competitive, price in the console’s history. » Gran Turismo uses one single physics calculation model, so they simply enter the parameters for each car, and the handling characteristics play themselves out within the game. As Yamauchi says, “If the original car is made ..."

Sony has revealed today at their Tokyo Game Show press conference a number of confirmed modes that will be included in their upcoming racer Gran Turismo 5 which is slated for a March 2010 release. Read on for details.

Sony finally revealed the release date for Gran Turismo 5 in March 2010. The wait may be a bit longer than we would have liked to see, but at least we have a solid time to expect it now.

"Throughout the course of this past weekend, September 17th – 20th, the Paris Game Festival took place over on the continent, showcasing some of the best games of this year and the hopefuls for 2010. Big name publishers such as Microsoft, Sony, Activision, Electronic Arts, Nintendo and Square Enix were joined by a raft of development studios and accessory manufacturers, each attempting to wow their audience with their latest and greatest releases."

All Age Gaming's John Elliott takes a look at the two heavy weight racing games Gran Turismo 5 and Forza 3. In this comparison of the two games, 4 key factors are looked at: Cars, Customization, Courses and Community. Which game will come out on top? Read on to find out.

"The remainder of this year and the beginning of 2010 promises an onslaught of racing games for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. We take a look at some of the best titles that will be available in the near future."

Polyphony Digital has decided to team up with the PS Eye and support head tracking for Gran Turismo 5. You will be able to change the angle of the camera inside the cockpit, just by moving your head.

Polyphony Digital stated the following:

“…the movement of Cockpit Camera interface (confirmed in full 3-D. The camera can be fully manipulated and you can opt to have your head tracked by the PSEye)”

Of course, you will have to buy the PS Eye to take advantage of this feature.

Following on from our Top 5 Xbox 360 list, All Age Gaming's John Elliott looks at the tough decision that PS3 owners face over the next few months in what game(s) to purchase by giving us his Top 5 games to get for the Playstation 3 this holiday season.

"If you doubted the veracity of the recent story that Gran Turismo 5 will include 1,000 cars and YouTube replay support, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi confirmed it and revealed some other details in an interview with Italian site multiplayer.it (and translated by GTPlanet). Of particular interest is Yamauchi's claim that Gran Turismo 5 is still in development but that "its release is not too far, it will be after the PSP GT release and, very probably, it will be a simultaneous world release..."

With all the talk about the PS3 Slim and the Xbox 360's price drop, All Age Gaming takes a look at the value of money of the consoles now and whether the 360 has the quality exclusives it needs to stop potential console buyers swaying towards the PS3.

"Now, Both are looking great and I can say they are the best racing sim out there, but let’s talk about these two predators, you might want to know what both games will have to offer before any racer lay down his money on a console and end up with a bad choice."

AAG's Phong Nguyen brings us his 8th The Week That Was. This week he talks about the PS3 Slim, Gran Turismo 5's release, the Xbox 360 Elite price drop, the software sales domination of Wii Sports Resort and more.

"The Gran Turismo series is one of the oldest and most-successful series in the videogame industry. Not only did it invent the racing simulation genre, but it has been there for every major step in technology. The PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2 and now the PlayStation 3 have all been home to this amazing series developed by Polyphony Digital, and watching the evolution of such a remarkable creation has been a car enthusiast’s dream."

You may recall about a week ago, that Sony filed a 250GB PS3 Slim to the FCC under an alias name. At Gamescom, the Gran Turismo 5 brochure claimed the game would release in Q4 of 2009. There is now a rumor that Sony plans to bundle the 250GB PS3 Slim with Gran Turismo 5 and a voucher for a downloadable game for $399. The bundle would probably released sometime before the holidays. If this rumor is true, then Sony could have a very strong presence in the holiday market.

In a picture of the official brochure handed out at last week’s GamesCom convention by Sony for Gran Turismo 5, it looks as though GT5's 2009 release is confirmed. Read on to find out more.

Gran Turismo 5's release date has been speculated a lot. Most were hoping a firm announcement at Gamescom 09 but it wasn't to be. However in an interview conducted by GameBlog.fr, a 2009 release date was hinted. Read on for more details.

Polyphony Digital have released some game design details on their website. Details about the online modes, confirmed tracks and number of vehicles are just some of the information given. But one detail missing is the confirmation of a release date.

All Age Gaming's Phong Nguyen brings us his sixth "The Week That Was". This weeks he discusses the Vitality Sensor, Wii Downloadable content, Xbox 360's Games on Demand, a GT5 release date and the continual PS3 slim rumors.

"It’s not unreasonably pessimistic to say that just because a caris in Gran Turismo PSP, it may not be in Gran Turismo 5. It’s been debated in our forums at length, and we won’t have a definitive answer until we can directly compare the car listfrom each game. However, things look a bit brighter when you consider this recent interview with Kazunori Yamauchi by French gaming site JVN. When asked about the “interactivity” between GT PSP and GT5, he responds:"

"Coming off the accidental misprint of £17, Gran Turismo 5 has surged to number one on the Amazon UK Videogame Charts. Yes, Sony’s racing behemoth managed to trump long-standing champions, the Wii and Wii Fit; both of which have spent 3 years and 1 year in the top 100, respectively."

"Gran Turismo 5 creator Kazunori Yamauchi stated last month that Polyphony Digital could potentially release the game at “any time”. This came as a surprise to many considering the game wasn’t present in playable form at E3, but rather in a gameplay trailer. However, if Amazon is correct then Yamauchi definitely wasn’t kidding."

"This years Need For Speed: Shift is developed by Slightly Mad Studios. This game is featuring over 70 cars with plans for more with DLC. Visual and performance upgrades can be made with in car customisation. There are real life and ficticious American and European race tracks. NFS:S is also showing off a new cockpit driver camera view. Acquisition of driving points comes from driving clean or dirty. Some of the cars featured in the game are the Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R, Mazda RX-7, BMW M3 GT2..."

A new episode of The Bender for the Fourth of July (even though it has nothing to do with the holiday). We talk a bit on that Transformers movie, we pay our respects to the pitch man Billy Mays, Allison goes on about The Conduit, James talks crap about Old Wizard, and Mike gives out a lot of good torrent sites. Listen live/stream through iTunes or download the mp3 here, enjoy!

"The result of a unique partnership between Citroën and Polyphony, designers of the Gran Turismo game series, the GTbyCITROËN concept measures nearly five metres long (4.96m) and just over a metre high (1.09m) with an impressive supercar design sporting wide air intakes, rear air-diffuser, horizontal LED headlamps, gull wing doors and diamond-effect 21inch aluminium wheels. Inside the cabin offers a refined racing experience with copper, steel and black leather finishes combined with hi-tech r..."

"Whether this date is completely accurate is only speculation as there has been no official date set by Sony themselves. You would however think that this date would be a smart move by Sony as Gran Turisom 5 has been in development for a long time and all the Gran Turismo fans out there have waited long enough for it, although they did get the Prologue version."

We are back from half the crew being at E3 to ... talk about E3. James and Perry tell a tale of almost getting killed while in L.A., we hit up the finer points of the three major conferences, talk about the best games, and take a little bit longer than usual to do so. Grab us on iTunes or download the mp3 directly. Enjoy!

The senior vice president over at EA Games Europe, Patrick Soderlund, had some tough things to say about the competition. While he actually enjoyed Split/Second, he felt that Blur was "completely underwhelming."

However, Polyphony Digital and Turn 10 Studios aren't the only ones who can talk trash. Soderlund didn't have anything to say about PD's Gran Turismo 5. However, he did say this about Forza: “Forza, I’m very confident we have a better game than them to be honest." Let's see if EA c...

"I'm sure many of you have been keeping up with the marketing ploy Turn 10 has done to tilt a, rather useless, poll into their favor held by cnet to determine which racing simulation people prefer between their Forza 3 and Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 5."

"E3 2009 has come and gone, leaving delicious trailers and tons of information for Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 5 and Turn 10's Forza Motorsport 3 racing sims in its wake. It looks like it's time for the digital drag race to begin anew.

Will the winner be GT5, with its new WRC and NASCAR modes, or scrappy Forza 3, with its in-depth customization options and more flexible difficulty levels? Sure, you could just get both and have double the fun, but only one can be the best. Check out the..."

""Che Chou of Turn 10 Studios, developers of the Forza Motorsport series for Xbox 360, made a pretty underhanded criticism that certainly won’t hold over well with fans of the Gran Turismo series. While it’s standard for developers to try out each other’s games and swap information at trade shows, Turn 10 seemed particularly sensitive about Polyphony Digital showing up to the Forza booth at E3 2009.""

""Hey, if Activision liked it, then they should have put a ring on it. Oh great, now Beyoncé is going to sue me too." - Tim Schafer, responding to the Activision lawsuit against EA for releasing "Brutal Legend," which they allegedly have the rights to ... despite dropping the title from their company months ago."

"On the back of the Go! announcement was the true reveal of the PSP version of the multi million dollar franchise; Gran Turismo. This game is not to be a port of one of the previous games nor that of GT5, but a fully fledged, from the ground up handheld racing gem. To be honest I can’t wait, the only PSP game I have ever got excited for. My fat PSP doesn’t really get much use; I might trade it in and trade it up for a Go! on release see if I can get more fun out of it, the UMD’s annoy me too m..."

"The new GT5 features everything you could possibly have wanted from the game and then some. In addition to some new features announced regarding the game we have some exclusive new screen-captures for you."

This is a must download of The Bender this week. We preview EVERYTHING that will happen and E3 (and even things that might not happen). The show runs a little longer than usual and we cut the news down to a minimal as we all get excited for our trip to E3! Grab the MP3 by clicking here or load us up in iTunes by clicking here

"You don’t have to decrypt any secret messages for this tidbit of news! Coming straight from Kazunori Yamauchi himself, weather changes and night racing can be expected soon. GTPlanet user MGR managed to dig up the following interview with Yamauchi-san, conducted by Audi. It’s part of the Audi R8 Meets Gran Turismo 5 mini-site and documentary, which gives two professional drivers the opportunity to compare the R8 in both the real and virtual world (also check out the video - including foota..."

"Well there is no real idea yet but the best bet is that he can be speaking about Gran Turismo Mobile for the PSP. Maybe there may be a PC title in the works. Otherwise, there still seems no hope that this title could ever come to a competing console such as the Xbox 360, since Sony owns Polyphony Digital, and it would just be wrong for them to release an Xbox 360 title."

"Back in April of 2008, rumors spread that Gran Turismo 5: Prologue might have been made for the PC, at least for the Korean market. We are now ending the first quarter of 2009, and there is no PC version, so you can guess the results of those rumors.

Nonetheless, with the exponential growth in technology, wouldn’t it actually be possible to port upcoming Gran Turismo titles to the PC platform?"

Gran Turismo 5 still is a ways away from being released, but can it possibly match or exceed expectations sales-wise from the previous installments? Each full installment has sold at least 9 million and Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec sold just shy of 15 million. However, GT5 is not alone, because Forza 3 is also set for release as well later on in the year.

GeMaga magazine's interview with Polyphony Digital's president reveals a lot more info about Gran Turismo 5, as well as the future of the Polyphony Digital development team.

"As good as Prologue is, what can we expect in the full version of GT 5?
To be honest, I haven't given a lot of thought to GT 5, so I don't have an answer. And it's too early to talk about GT 5 because we still have updates coming out for Prologue.

Is there an ETA on GT 5?
It won't be this year and nothing's scheduled for next. It may be out in 2010, but like I said, we haven't really discussed it yet."

UK's Car Magazine had article about the Citroen GT concept car, which it stated that this car would feature in Gran Turismo 5 in Spring of 2009. Though nothing official has been stated, this is nothing sort of a rumor at the moment. But lets pray its not a rumor so we can finally play this bad boy and something the PS3 can have in 09 to help with their game lineup.

Remember how Sony promised 11 unannounced PS3 titles to feature at TGS? The same titles which have been strangely absent despite one or two here and there? Well the full list of titles has finally been revealed. And it turns out we've all been tricked, or rather tricked ourselves. You see Sony said they were unannounced titles, but never that they were new titles. These games had yet to be announced to appear at TGS, so there never really any new games to begin with, the large majority of th...

"The funny thing about this game is that if you’re not just an avid RPG fan, or a die-hard shooter, you can also be a complete gear-head and still find a niche in Borderlands. There are a number of different vehicles present within the game that vary from the standard dune buggy to truck-like war machines. No matter what vehicle players will drive, each one can be equipped with a turbo booster that can send the vehicle into a warp-speed like speed boost, or extra weaponry to fend off baddies. ..."

Could Sony's Playstation 3 Exclusive Gran Turismo 5 be making a move over to the PC in the near future...? Well Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi has claimed in a short but brief interview (which can be found here in German) that the game may also arrive for the PC some time in the future as well as the Playstation 3.

This of course would be a great welcome to the PC as multiple driving simulations are quite the let down nowadays though this if were to be true and they go through with ...

Computer and Video Games has managed to sit down with the man behind Gran Turismo himself, Kazunori Yamauchi, in an exclusive interview about the Gran Turismo series. He's confirmed that the US version will have the additional content that was added to the UK release and talks about the delay for Gran Turismo 5, which Sony has said is about a year away while also discussing his hopes for Gran Turismo Mobile for the PSP.

"The latest European sales numbers at VGChartz for “the week ending March 29, 2008″ show that exactly 374,607 Blu-Ray copies of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue have been sold. Considering that the game was released in Europe on March 28, those sales numbers could only apply to the two single days that it was available on store shelves. This, of course, is in addition to the one million European pre-orders and does not include the number of times the game has been purchased via PSN."

Thats right, GamePro User's have all chosen Metal Gear Solid 4 as there most anticipated game for the Playstation 3 at the moment with a staggering 57.7% of the vote. Quite incredible that. In second place though follows Gran Turismo 5, third and fourth see the sequels of Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 whilst staggering in for fifth spot is LittleBigPlanet.

In addition to that I assume this is only for Playstation 3 exclusive games as many of you are probably pondering.. Where is GTA:IV! I t...

Kazunori Yamauchi, the main man behind the Gran Turismo series has said that they wish to include car damage soon. Supposedly, the reason they haven't had it is because they haven't been able to convince enough car companies to let them put it in. This makes sense, when you try to compare the amount of cars in Forza, for example, to Gran Turismo 4. This is also the reason that Motorstorm used fictional cars and not real ones.

The interview also mentions that Yamauchi has wanted online play...

Bundle after bundle seems to be Sony's plan. They have announced a brand new bundle for Europe that will come with GT5 Prologue. It will be available on March 29th, along side the release of the game. Dual Shock 3 will be released only a few weeks later then that on April 15th, which begs the question, will these new bundle include DuelShock 3?

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, the official and featured 'teaser' game for GT5, is coming to US shores and the US PlayStation Store next month, after the game was released in early December in Japan. However, the wait seems well worth it, as the US version of the game will also feature a new Drift Mode and race events, as well as two-player split screen. With the size of the game already at the large download size of 2.2GB, and with the addition of the new modes only adding to that, it looks like ...

Some beautiful GT5 Prologue videos, this is the first time I've seen any in-cockpit footage in closed quarters city tracks. They look breathtaking. There's a second video which involves a guy that just keeps spinning out which shows off some nice smoke and dust effects but more importantly, just how awesome the in-cockpit view looks when all the shadows are moving around from the changing light source direction.

I recommend watching them in HD.

The ultimate website for people waiting for Gran Turismo 5 has been released today by Sony, and it's certainly got a lot of screenshots and videos to keep any GT fan happy till the release of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue

"It’s official - SCEA announced today the April 17 North American release date for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, available exclusively for PS3. Developed by famed Polyphony Digital, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be available for $39.99 on Blu-ray Disc (BD) and as a download via the PLAYSTATION Store.

The BD version will offer added value with an exclusive behind-the-scenes High Definition (HD) video feature called “Beyond the Apex”. This video will offer some awesome access to the folks at Polyph..."

Here's something you may have heard before, but never believed.

Real racers actually use Gran Turismo to train. In fact, Formula One drivers like Jarno Trulli (Toyota) and Kazuki Nakajima (BMW) have publicly admitted to having used Gran Turismo to train and learn the track layouts, as well as where to brake. Now if THAT didn't impress you, listen to this. Kazunori Yamauchi, director of the series, has driven about two thousand or so laps around Tsukuba circuit in the Gran Turismo games. We...

"We’re not here to make enemies, but seeing PSU.com take a complete 180 turn on their original mention of car damage, is disconcerting - especially when their original article was so certain in its inclusion.

Their original paragraph read:

Many fans of the series may also be pleased to learn that damage modeling has finally been implemented with Prologue. On the whole, the damage effects are quite realistic and we can safely say that the days of the Gran Turismo series being called a ‘b..."

Yes its been asked for many times for GT to get damage. Its been criticized many times too for not having car damage. Well in a recent preview from PSU, they had confirmation that there will be car damage in Prologue.

BBC's motoring show "Top Gear" will be featuring in the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 in more ways than one. Racing fans will not only be able to drive on a virtual replica of the Top Gear test track, but will also be able to download 40 of the show's episodes via a dedicated Gran Turismo TV channel launching on the PlayStation 3 Network early next year.

In the recent Famitsu issue here are the top 20 games most wanted from Japan's biggest games magazine. It's a really interesting list as what dominates the list in being No.1 is Dragon Quest IX for the Nintendo DS and then followed by Final Fantasy XIII which was at No.1. Third place comes the highly anticipated Resident Evil 5. A list containing top notch games. Too bad only one game from 360 makes it.

Are you capable to knowing which cars are from Gran Turismo 5 and which is from real life? Think you're up for the challenge? Take this quiz and let's see how many correct answers you get right.

"Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will apparently be a free download on the PlayStation Network when it is released. According to Yamauchi in a Gamespot Hands on, the game will be released as a free experience on the PSN later this year. We contacted SCEI, and they said

"Yes, it will be free for download on the PSN, and we are thinking of charging---but doubt it. For now it is free."
