Which means that 'Jailbroken' PS3's could probably play it within the next few days, effectively making it a waste of time.

Well, maybe not according to Polyphony head Kazunori Yamauchi."

"The rumors around what new Playstation 3 features Gran Turismo 5 will support have been swirling fast and seemingly debunked just as fast. First it was support for the PS Move but that rumor never solidified. Then Playstation video magazine, Qore, showed a bunch of games that support 3D including Gran Turismo 5. Sony then turned around and announced that the video was for demonstration purposes only and that 3D would not be coming to those games."

"A recent episode of Qore on the Playstation Network revealed that a number of existing games such as Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Gran Turismo 5, and Wipeout HD would be getting the 3D treatment. However, Sony has recently issued a "clarification" according to the site that originally posted the story, The Gamer Access."

"The most curious thing, of course, is the fact that the packaging clearly contains three separate Blu-Ray cases -- one black, one red, and one blue. What could they be? While the conspiracy theorists get to work, here’s a list of other interesting tidbits from the clip:
» Gran Turismo uses one single physics calculation model, so they simply enter the parameters for each car, and the handling characteristics play themselves out within the game. As Yamauchi says, “If the original car is made ..."

Sony finally revealed the release date for Gran Turismo 5 in March 2010. The wait may be a bit longer than we would have liked to see, but at least we have a solid time to expect it now.

Polyphony Digital has decided to team up with the PS Eye and support head tracking for Gran Turismo 5. You will be able to change the angle of the camera inside the cockpit, just by moving your head.

Polyphony Digital stated the following:

“…the movement of Cockpit Camera interface (confirmed in full 3-D. The camera can be fully manipulated and you can opt to have your head tracked by the PSEye)”

Of course, you will have to buy the PS Eye to take advantage of this feature.

In a picture of the official brochure handed out at last week’s GamesCom convention by Sony for Gran Turismo 5, it looks as though GT5's 2009 release is confirmed. Read on to find out more.

Gran Turismo 5's release date has been speculated a lot. Most were hoping a firm announcement at Gamescom 09 but it wasn't to be. However in an interview conducted by GameBlog.fr, a 2009 release date was hinted. Read on for more details.

Polyphony Digital have released some game design details on their website. Details about the online modes, confirmed tracks and number of vehicles are just some of the information given. But one detail missing is the confirmation of a release date.

"It’s not unreasonably pessimistic to say that just because a caris in Gran Turismo PSP, it may not be in Gran Turismo 5. It’s been debated in our forums at length, and we won’t have a definitive answer until we can directly compare the car listfrom each game. However, things look a bit brighter when you consider this recent interview with Kazunori Yamauchi by French gaming site JVN. When asked about the “interactivity” between GT PSP and GT5, he responds:"

"Coming off the accidental misprint of £17, Gran Turismo 5 has surged to number one on the Amazon UK Videogame Charts. Yes, Sony’s racing behemoth managed to trump long-standing champions, the Wii and Wii Fit; both of which have spent 3 years and 1 year in the top 100, respectively."

"Whether this date is completely accurate is only speculation as there has been no official date set by Sony themselves. You would however think that this date would be a smart move by Sony as Gran Turisom 5 has been in development for a long time and all the Gran Turismo fans out there have waited long enough for it, although they did get the Prologue version."

The senior vice president over at EA Games Europe, Patrick Soderlund, had some tough things to say about the competition. While he actually enjoyed Split/Second, he felt that Blur was "completely underwhelming."

However, Polyphony Digital and Turn 10 Studios aren't the only ones who can talk trash. Soderlund didn't have anything to say about PD's Gran Turismo 5. However, he did say this about Forza: “Forza, I’m very confident we have a better game than them to be honest." Let's see if EA c...

"E3 2009 has come and gone, leaving delicious trailers and tons of information for Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 5 and Turn 10's Forza Motorsport 3 racing sims in its wake. It looks like it's time for the digital drag race to begin anew.

Will the winner be GT5, with its new WRC and NASCAR modes, or scrappy Forza 3, with its in-depth customization options and more flexible difficulty levels? Sure, you could just get both and have double the fun, but only one can be the best. Check out the..."

""Che Chou of Turn 10 Studios, developers of the Forza Motorsport series for Xbox 360, made a pretty underhanded criticism that certainly won’t hold over well with fans of the Gran Turismo series. While it’s standard for developers to try out each other’s games and swap information at trade shows, Turn 10 seemed particularly sensitive about Polyphony Digital showing up to the Forza booth at E3 2009.""

"The new GT5 features everything you could possibly have wanted from the game and then some. In addition to some new features announced regarding the game we have some exclusive new screen-captures for you."

"You don’t have to decrypt any secret messages for this tidbit of news! Coming straight from Kazunori Yamauchi himself, weather changes and night racing can be expected soon. GTPlanet user MGR managed to dig up the following interview with Yamauchi-san, conducted by Audi. It’s part of the Audi R8 Meets Gran Turismo 5 mini-site and documentary, which gives two professional drivers the opportunity to compare the R8 in both the real and virtual world (also check out the video - including foota..."

GeMaga magazine's interview with Polyphony Digital's president reveals a lot more info about Gran Turismo 5, as well as the future of the Polyphony Digital development team.

"As good as Prologue is, what can we expect in the full version of GT 5?
To be honest, I haven't given a lot of thought to GT 5, so I don't have an answer. And it's too early to talk about GT 5 because we still have updates coming out for Prologue.

Is there an ETA on GT 5?
It won't be this year and nothing's scheduled for next. It may be out in 2010, but like I said, we haven't really discussed it yet."

Remember how Sony promised 11 unannounced PS3 titles to feature at TGS? The same titles which have been strangely absent despite one or two here and there? Well the full list of titles has finally been revealed. And it turns out we've all been tricked, or rather tricked ourselves. You see Sony said they were unannounced titles, but never that they were new titles. These games had yet to be announced to appear at TGS, so there never really any new games to begin with, the large majority of th...

"The funny thing about this game is that if you’re not just an avid RPG fan, or a die-hard shooter, you can also be a complete gear-head and still find a niche in Borderlands. There are a number of different vehicles present within the game that vary from the standard dune buggy to truck-like war machines. No matter what vehicle players will drive, each one can be equipped with a turbo booster that can send the vehicle into a warp-speed like speed boost, or extra weaponry to fend off baddies. ..."

"Sony announced today a major milestone for Polyphony Digital's banner racing series, Gran Turismo. The series has, as of May 9, crossed the 50 million shipment mark worldwide.

Gran Turismo (PlayStation)
Total: 10.85 million
North America: 3.99 million

Could Sony's Playstation 3 Exclusive Gran Turismo 5 be making a move over to the PC in the near future...? Well Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi has claimed in a short but brief interview (which can be found here in German) that the game may also arrive for the PC some time in the future as well as the Playstation 3.

This of course would be a great welcome to the PC as multiple driving simulations are quite the let down nowadays though this if were to be true and they go through with ...

Computer and Video Games has managed to sit down with the man behind Gran Turismo himself, Kazunori Yamauchi, in an exclusive interview about the Gran Turismo series. He's confirmed that the US version will have the additional content that was added to the UK release and talks about the delay for Gran Turismo 5, which Sony has said is about a year away while also discussing his hopes for Gran Turismo Mobile for the PSP.

"The latest European sales numbers at VGChartz for “the week ending March 29, 2008″ show that exactly 374,607 Blu-Ray copies of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue have been sold. Considering that the game was released in Europe on March 28, those sales numbers could only apply to the two single days that it was available on store shelves. This, of course, is in addition to the one million European pre-orders and does not include the number of times the game has been purchased via PSN."

Thats right, GamePro User's have all chosen Metal Gear Solid 4 as there most anticipated game for the Playstation 3 at the moment with a staggering 57.7% of the vote. Quite incredible that. In second place though follows Gran Turismo 5, third and fourth see the sequels of Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 whilst staggering in for fifth spot is LittleBigPlanet.

In addition to that I assume this is only for Playstation 3 exclusive games as many of you are probably pondering.. Where is GTA:IV! I t...

Kazunori Yamauchi, the main man behind the Gran Turismo series has said that they wish to include car damage soon. Supposedly, the reason they haven't had it is because they haven't been able to convince enough car companies to let them put it in. This makes sense, when you try to compare the amount of cars in Forza, for example, to Gran Turismo 4. This is also the reason that Motorstorm used fictional cars and not real ones.

The interview also mentions that Yamauchi has wanted online play...

Bundle after bundle seems to be Sony's plan. They have announced a brand new bundle for Europe that will come with GT5 Prologue. It will be available on March 29th, along side the release of the game. Dual Shock 3 will be released only a few weeks later then that on April 15th, which begs the question, will these new bundle include DuelShock 3?

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, the official and featured 'teaser' game for GT5, is coming to US shores and the US PlayStation Store next month, after the game was released in early December in Japan. However, the wait seems well worth it, as the US version of the game will also feature a new Drift Mode and race events, as well as two-player split screen. With the size of the game already at the large download size of 2.2GB, and with the addition of the new modes only adding to that, it looks like ...

The ultimate website for people waiting for Gran Turismo 5 has been released today by Sony, and it's certainly got a lot of screenshots and videos to keep any GT fan happy till the release of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue

"It’s official - SCEA announced today the April 17 North American release date for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, available exclusively for PS3. Developed by famed Polyphony Digital, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be available for $39.99 on Blu-ray Disc (BD) and as a download via the PLAYSTATION Store.

The BD version will offer added value with an exclusive behind-the-scenes High Definition (HD) video feature called “Beyond the Apex”. This video will offer some awesome access to the folks at Polyph..."

Here's something you may have heard before, but never believed.

Real racers actually use Gran Turismo to train. In fact, Formula One drivers like Jarno Trulli (Toyota) and Kazuki Nakajima (BMW) have publicly admitted to having used Gran Turismo to train and learn the track layouts, as well as where to brake. Now if THAT didn't impress you, listen to this. Kazunori Yamauchi, director of the series, has driven about two thousand or so laps around Tsukuba circuit in the Gran Turismo games. We...

"We’re not here to make enemies, but seeing PSU.com take a complete 180 turn on their original mention of car damage, is disconcerting - especially when their original article was so certain in its inclusion.

Their original paragraph read:

Many fans of the series may also be pleased to learn that damage modeling has finally been implemented with Prologue. On the whole, the damage effects are quite realistic and we can safely say that the days of the Gran Turismo series being called a ‘b..."

Racing fans will not only be able to drive on a virtual replica of the Top Gear test track, but will also be able to download 40 of the show's episodes via a dedicated Gran Turismo TV channel launching on the PlayStation 3 Network early next year.

In the recent Famitsu issue here are the top 20 games most wanted from Japan's biggest games magazine. It's a really interesting list as what dominates the list in being No.1 is Dragon Quest IX for the Nintendo DS and then followed by Final Fantasy XIII which was at No.1.
