According to a recent tweet from game producer Kazunori Yamauchi, Gran Turismo 5 will be getting a major update this week. Details are pending, but it looks like the Performance Points system will return.
Polyphony Digital made the sad but somewhat expected news that the online servers for its prequel Gran Turismo 5 Prologue would be shutting down as of June 30. Hey, good time to upgrade to the full version.
"It's not exactly clear if the race shown is a replay or a live race, but the list of options and information offered is impressive. There are multiple camera options and the ability to chat to other players as you watch, and there looks to be a mode which sees the racing view shrunk to a small thumbnail so the game can fill the screen with other stats like detailed timing info, date, time and weather, and options to jump to different sections of the race."

Some examples include MGS4 and DMC4 among others, and just about all of these are both the worth the money at their price. The full list is below.

"Back in April of 2008, rumors spread that Gran Turismo 5: Prologue might have been made for the PC, at least for the Korean market. We are now ending the first quarter of 2009, and there is no PC version, so you can guess the results of those rumors.
Nonetheless, with the exponential growth in technology, wouldn’t it actually be possible to port upcoming Gran Turismo titles to the PC platform?"
"Killzone 2 is coming out next week, so we are pretty sure you PlayStation 3 owners will be quite busy. Gran Turismo 5 still is a ways away from being released, but can it possibly match or exceed expectations sales-wise from the previous installments? Each full installment has sold at least 9 million and Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec sold just shy of 15 million. However, GT5 is not alone, because Forza 3 is also set for release as well later on in the year.

Remember how Sony promised 11 unannounced PS3 titles to feature at TGS? The same titles which have been strangely absent despite one or two here and there? Well the full list of titles has finally been revealed. And it turns out we've all been tricked, or rather tricked ourselves. You see Sony said they were unannounced titles, but never that they were new titles. These games had yet to be announced to appear at TGS, so there never really any new games to begin with, the large majority of th...

Another week has passed, which means it's time for some Australian game sales!
Mario Kart Wii has snatched the lead from the Wii Fit game, the Wii Play bundle is still selling steadily in third, followed by the oh-so-popular Super Smash Bros. Brawl and SingStar Amped.
Most of the games in the overall sales list are either the from the Wii or the DS. With all the success Nintendo has been having lately, I'm not surprised. To check out some console-specific sales, hit the source.

Polyphony Digital, the developer of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, has announced an update for the game, but only for the Japanese. There are speculations that this update is worldwide, but so far, there isn't anything that can confirm that. Check the quote below to see what the update brings.
As many people know by now, Gran Turismo is once again one of the main sponsors of the 24 hour Nürburgring race. Well, it seems as if it is coming to Gran Turismo 5 prologue soon. There have been a few pictures at many various websites of the full version of the track (Nordschleife). The rumor comes from the fact that the track is playable in every PS3 booth at the Nordschleife.
Nürburgring may come as either as a paid download or as a free expansion to the game, or it may not come at all....
The NPD Group recently released their tracked sales numbers for April 2008, for the four week tracking period that ends on May 3rd, 2008. Many thanks to sonycowboy at NeoGAF and the NPD Group for the numbers.
April saw the release of two major games: Grand Theft Auto IV, which shattered industry records, and Mario Kart Wii, the latest installment in Nintendo's Mario Kart franchise. You would think that there would be strong sales all around for the three current generation consoles, but ...
"Sony announced today a major milestone for Polyphony Digital's banner racing series, Gran Turismo. The series has, as of May 9, crossed the 50 million shipment mark worldwide.
This figure includes shipments for seven titles, going back to the PlayStation original and continuing on to Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Here's a game-by-game and region-by-region look.
Gran Turismo (PlayStation)

North America: 3.99 million

Gran Turismo 5 is now available to download via the PlayStation Store or for purchase on Blu-Ray disc from retail stores. You can also watch a hi-definition version of the video via the source link below.
After selling one MILLION preorders for Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, you would think that sales for the game wouldn't be this immense. The game is currently dominating the European sales charts. It is currently only getting beaten by Guitar Hero 3 (PS2) and only in Sweden.
Could Sony's Playstation 3 Exclusive Gran Turismo 5 be making a move over to the PC in the near future...? Well Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi has claimed in a short but brief interview (which can be found here in German) that the game may also arrive for the PC some time in the future as well as the Playstation 3.
This of course would be a great welcome to the PC as multiple driving simulations are quite the let down nowadays though this if were to be true and they go through with ...
The Playstation 3 is definitely on the rise now, this week in Europe the PS3 was at the top of the charts in hardware sales (a rarity even with the new 40GB version) which is believed to be caused by the release of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. And who says exclusives don't shift consoles?
Computer and Video Games has managed to sit down with the man behind Gran Turismo himself, Kazunori Yamauchi, in an exclusive interview about the Gran Turismo series. He's confirmed that the US version will have the additional content that was added to the UK release and talks about the delay for Gran Turismo 5, which Sony has said is about a year away while also discussing his hopes for Gran Turismo Mobile for the PSP.
Farewell SIXAXIS, hello Dualshock 3! The force feedback Dualshock 3 controllers will be shipping tomorrow at the generous price of $54.99 US. Get them while they're hot, because Sony all knows everyone wants one for all those wrecks in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue!
It's finally here, Gran Turismo fans! Yamauchi has confirmed that damage will be coming to the GT series. In fact, he says that it could be a downloadable feature for GT5 Prologue as early as this fall!
Sure took them long enough, but hey, at least fans of the series are getting what they've been wanting for a long time!
"The latest European sales numbers at VGChartz for the week ending March 29, 2008″ show that exactly 374,607 Blu-Ray copies of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue have been sold. Considering that the game was released in Europe on March 28, those sales numbers could only apply to the two single days that it was available on store shelves. This, of course, is in addition to the one million European pre-orders and does not include the number of times the game has been purchased via PSN."
Thats right, GamePro User's have all chosen Metal Gear Solid 4 as there most anticipated game for the Playstation 3 at the moment with a staggering 57.7% of the vote. Quite incredible that. In second place though follows Gran Turismo 5, third and fourth see the sequels of Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 whilst staggering in for fifth spot is LittleBigPlanet.
In addition to that I assume this is only for Playstation 3 exclusive games as many of you are probably pondering.. Where is GTA:IV! I t...
Sony showed off a work-in-progress version of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue for the PlayStation 3. The near-final version of the game didn't differ much from the preview version we recently saw, but the press event gave Sony reps a chance to reveal some updates to the game. In particular, they explained the differences between the game that will ship to stores on a Blu-ray disc and the version that will show up on the PlayStation Network store.
Kazunori Yamauchi, the main man behind the Gran Turismo series has said that they wish to include car damage soon. Supposedly, the reason they haven't had it is because they haven't been able to convince enough car companies to let them put it in. This makes sense, when you try to compare the amount of cars in Forza, for example, to Gran Turismo 4. This is also the reason that Motorstorm used fictional cars and not real ones.
The interview also mentions that Yamauchi has wanted online play...
"Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is set to weigh in at 1870MB on PlayStation Network when it goes on sale next Thursday, 27th March.
That's how big the game was when we downloaded it to put together our exclusive review of the PAL version, and Sony has confirmed to Eurogamer that it will be the same when the game goes live on the PlayStation 3 Store.
1.9GB isn't exactly huge, especially given that PS3 games can take advantage of Blu-ray's 50GB if they choose, so how do they do that?
One way P..."
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has been given an official release date of March 27 for its PlayStation 3 debut in Europe. The photorealistic racing simulator will be distributed digitally via the PlayStation Store at a price point of £24.99. In addition, an identically priced Blu-Ray disc version will be sold through traditional retail channels on March 28, packing in an extra high definition video feature entitled "Beyond The Apex".
The previously announced additional gameplay modes for North Am...
Bundle after bundle seems to be Sony's plan. They have announced a brand new bundle for Europe that will come with GT5 Prologue. It will be available on March 29th, along side the release of the game. Dual Shock 3 will be released only a few weeks later then that on April 15th, which begs the question, will these new bundle include DuelShock 3?
Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, the official and featured 'teaser' game for GT5, is coming to US shores and the US PlayStation Store next month, after the game was released in early December in Japan. However, the wait seems well worth it, as the US version of the game will also feature a new Drift Mode and race events, as well as two-player split screen. With the size of the game already at the large download size of 2.2GB, and with the addition of the new modes only adding to that, it looks like ...

Some beautiful GT5 Prologue videos, this is the first time I've seen any in-cockpit footage in closed quarters city tracks. They look breathtaking. There's a second video which involves a guy that just keeps spinning out which shows off some nice smoke and dust effects but more importantly, just how awesome the in-cockpit view looks when all the shadows are moving around from the changing light source direction.
I recommend watching them in HD.
Logitech has just announced it's Driving Force GT Racing Wheel. This wheel was built with Gran Turismo 5: Prologue in mind (Just like their Driving Force Pro was built with GT4 in mind).
It has all the features that the Driving Force Pro had, and more. It also works with the Playstation 2.
Expect this wheel to retail for $150 when it comes out in May.
The ultimate website for people waiting for Gran Turismo 5 has been released today by Sony, and it's certainly got a lot of screenshots and videos to keep any GT fan happy till the release of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
According to Sony, they're aiming for a March release date of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue in Europe. For the PS3 gamers that have been living under a rock for the past 6 months, Prologue is the first Gran Turismo game to feature online play, which it does quite well, with up to 16 players racing at a time. It contains 37 cars and 5 tracks (All of which can be raced in Reverse as well as normally) and will launch at about $40USD or 25 Pounds, and most likely about 40 Euros.

Quickly after updating with the previous week's pre-New Year's sales, Media Create has updated their weekly rankings to reflect the sales for the week of one the biggest holiday shopping weeks in Japan, New Year's. Nintendo regains control of the top ten after Sony's penetration the previous week, and games on Nintendo consoles make for 41 out of the 50 games in the Top 50.
The top seller for this New Year's week is the child-favorite Mario Party DS, selling 196k copies. Next up is the n...
After a week's hiatus, we finally get Media Create's software rankings, along with hardware and software numbers for the week preceding New Year's Day. Contrary to the preceding week's Nintendo domination, games from a system not owned by Nintendo broke into the top ten. Hardware wise, it's still the same old, with the DS, PSP and Wii selling in the six figure range, while the PS3 ranges around 55k.
This week's top seller is the new Super Robot Taisen game, Super Robot Taisen OG Gaiden, ...
Here's something you may have heard before, but never believed.
Real racers actually use Gran Turismo to train. In fact, Formula One drivers like Jarno Trulli (Toyota) and Kazuki Nakajima (BMW) have publicly admitted to having used Gran Turismo to train and learn the track layouts, as well as where to brake. Now if THAT didn't impress you, listen to this. Kazunori Yamauchi, director of the series, has driven about two thousand or so laps around Tsukuba circuit in the Gran Turismo games. We...
Honestly, there's no other way to put it. This tracking week is still well into the holiday season in Japan, and if it were somehow possible, DS Lite and Wii numbers increased. 41 out of the Top 50 are on a Nintendo system, with no 360 showing, and Sony representing the other nine. The PSP continues the have same problem that it had last week. But still, the Nintendo numbers, frankly, are completely and utterly absurd.
At the top of the rankings is our newest DS million-seller, Mario P...
It's another zany sales week in Japan, with DS and Wii sales shooting through the roof in a Nintendo-dominated top ten, and some weird and disheartening PSP sales.
There was a flip-flop at the top of the rankings, as this week's top seller was last week's #2, Mario Party DS, selling 180k units. The #2 seller is last week's #1, Wii Fit, with 124k units sold. Rounding out the top five is the only non-DS/Wii game in the top ten, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (PS3 - 116k - BD Version), Professor L...
"If the recent game intro disappointed in any one area (and it sure wasnt impact), then it was probably that there wasnt enough real, on the street/track, gameplay footage included into the mix. Well, these latest trailers certainly put pay to that discrepancy, featuring high-speed thrills on an oval racetrack and through the confined streets of Ye Olde London Town"
"You can keep your Need for Speeds, Project Gotham Racings and your Colin McRae: DiRTs, there's really only one grandaddy of gaming when it comes to the racing circuit: Gran Turismo. Want to take issue with that? Feast your eyes on the full game intro for Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, and then reconsider your argument. Your Kung Foo is weak!"
Polyphony's teaser game Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is set to be released today, and Famitsu has revealed it's review scores. For those unfamiliar with the Famitsu scoring system, the total score is out of 40 and the game is reviewed by a panel of 4 people on a scale of 1-10. Needless to say, 39/40 is an incredible score for a game which is only a taste of what's to come. Only six games have scored perfect 40s from Famitsu, and Prologue joins the 16 other games to have received 39.
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is Polyphony's new teaser game before the release of Gran Turismo 5. The game features 16-player online races (a first for the series), 40 cars and 8 different layouts. It is set to be released in Japan later today, and is set to be released in other regions as well.
Because of the impending release of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, some truly stunning screenshots have been released. Hit the jump to see them in their full glory.
"Were not here to make enemies, but seeing PSU.com take a complete 180 turn on their original mention of car damage, is disconcerting - especially when their original article was so certain in its inclusion.
Their original paragraph read:
Many fans of the series may also be pleased to learn that damage modeling has finally been implemented with Prologue. On the whole, the damage effects are quite realistic and we can safely say that the days of the Gran Turismo series being called a b..."
Yes its been asked for many times for GT to get damage. Its been criticized many times too for not having car damage. Well in a recent preview from PSU, they had confirmation that there will be car damage in Prologue.
quoteYou'll also be able to tell if you have any mods installed in your car by simply listening. That super charger you just installed sounds just like its real life counterpart. Many fans of the series may also be pleased to learn that damage modelling has finally been impleme...
While BioShock scooped the Spike VGA 'Game of the Year' gong, and the likes of Super Mario Galaxy and Rock Band both did well during the evening's awards, the popular celeb-infested event also threw up a raft of World Premiere trailer exclusives, which you can see in just one click via M&C Gaming.
Expect to feast your eyes on Prototype, Borderlands, Iron Man, LittleBigPlanet, Afro Samurai, and more...
BBC's motoring show "Top Gear" will be featuring in the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 in more ways than one. Racing fans will not only be able to drive on a virtual replica of the Top Gear test track, but will also be able to download 40 of the show's episodes via a dedicated Gran Turismo TV channel launching on the PlayStation 3 Network early next year.
Every Playstation launch has always had a new entry in the Gran Turismo racing franchise. The Playstation 3 is no different. At e3 06 we were given GT: HD which essentially a major visual upgrade given to GT4. Running at full 1080p at 60fps and a demo on PSN it was really a feast for the eyes. But honestly it wasnt much different from GT4. When we first heard details of GT5 and some of the new features that were coming to the series its understandable that our excitement level was through ...
The PS3 exclusive Gran Turismo 5 Prologue game will finally be available to download on the 20th October. So all you Gran Turismoholics will have to wait for next week to finally check out how good this game really is and how it feels. Also Sony will be unveiling a major announcement on October 24th. So mark both days on your calendar because it's going to be a blood bath.
A Recent Press Release hit my inbox with details about Gran Turismo 5: Prologue and here's a quick compilation of the facts along with 6 screenshots (of the seven that they provided me... the seventh wasn't that great, but can be found on the Neoseeker Profile's Screens Section):
"Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will apparently be a free download on the PlayStation Network when it is released. According to Yamauchi in a Gamespot Hands on, the game will be released as a free experience on the PSN later this year. We contacted SCEI, and they said
"Yes, it will be free for download on the PSN, and we are thinking of charging---but doubt it. For now it is free."
Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 5 promises to possibly be the most exacting and detailed racing video game ever. ..."

"The rumble-equipped successor to the lightweight SIXAXIS is almost ready for release. According to the latest issue of Japan's Dengeki PlayStation magazine (quoted over at NeoGAF), the Dual Shock 3 will be compatible with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. And looking at the image above, taken from Sony's official Japanese GT5 site, it seems clear that the new controller will become available in Japan at the same time as GT5 Prologue itself: this October. Which is little over two months away."
It started as a simple post from a member of a Gran Turismo fansite, and it seems to have expanded into some very good reasons for the game. Here they are, all 25 reasons...

"Well worthy of the title 'most delayed PlayStation Portable game ever' is Gran Turismo 4 Mobile, a handheld version of the massively successful racer that was initially 'announced' for the PSP around the same time as the sexy little console - along with GT-specific box art and UMD mock-ups.
According to The Magic Box however, Gran Turismo 4 Mobile now has a vague release date, which equates to some time: "before the appearance of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on the PlayStation 3." At least, tha..."
"First off, theres going to be some heavy integration with Sonys vaunted PlayStation Home, so youll be able to access Home through Prologue, and Prologue through Home.
Once on the track, youll be one of sixteen competitors, though Yamauchi concedes that could yet drop to twelve, depending on how the smoothness of the experience is affected."
