"Rampant piracy is the real reason for GTA: Chinatown Wars’ slow sales according to Take-Two CEO Ben Feder.

"The handheld market is currently challenged by weak demand and by piracy. Piracy is a real and present danger for our industry and must be addressed, especially in the handheld market. The commercial performance of Chinatown Wars has certainly suffered at the hands of piracy.”"

The PSP Favourites promotion includes a number of PlayStation Portable (PSP) titles that will be discounted on the PlayStation Store beginning this Thursday, April 1st 2010."

"Last night, the GAME British Academy Video Games Awards ceremony took place in London, with a number of shocking results. While few would argue that Batman: Arkham Asylum found itself up against some tough competition for the coveted Game of the Year award, the fact that Rocksteady Studios walked away with the award will certainly be a boon to UK videogame development. However, another winner is now going to be a benefit to the UK’s gaming public, as the UK’s largest high street videogames re..."

"With a Platinum and two Gold Awards under its belt, Rockstar's handheld chapter of the massively popular Grand Theft Auto series is now tearing up the App Store charts after the iPhone version was suddenly and unexpectedly released.

And despite all three versions being the same essential game, there are distinct differences between the DS, PSP, and iPhone renditions of Chinatown.

We decided to throw the three handheld gaming platforms into a cage match and see which one was left standing."

These include the likes of Rockstar North (third on the list and responsible for the Grand Theft Auto franchise), LEGO Star Wars developer Traveller's Tales (11th) and Media Molecule (18th), the developer of LittleBigPlanet - and the highest placed independent UK studio on the list."

It's all about the DS this week, fellas, ladies. Sure, there's a few notables for the other platforms (Rune Factory: Frontier on the Wii, Resistance: Retribution on PSP), but none of them can top a whopping six high profile titles, and of such a great variety. Three RPGs, one RTS, one shooter, one racer, and GTA: Chinatown Wars? Never been a better time to be a DS owner than now..

The ESRB has unveiled the content descriptions for Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. The article points out the excerpts regarding the sexual content contained within the game, and there's no doubt that this DS title is strictly suited for a Mature audience.

"But speaking about Chinatown Wars in September, Rockstar's co-founder Dan Houser told Edge magazine: "It can't be softened to make it family-friendly - that's not the game we're making. We've never not done well by sticking to our guns."

Tim Ingham, editor of games industry magazine MCV, said: "The DS is a console that doesn't exclusively cater for children and families even though it provides a wealth of suitable entertainment for them."

In a shock move, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has given the highly anticipated Nintendo DS game GTA: Chinatown Wars an 18 certificate, despite the game being considerably toned down for the handheld console.

"By pre-ordering the game at the retailer, consumers will get $10,000 in "cold hard Liberty City cash" and immediate access to the game's entire arsenal from the start of play.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars launches on March 17 in the U.S.

GameStop's exclusive pre-order bonuses are an increasingly common means of drawing consumers into stores, although bonus items are typically those of the physical variety, such as soundtrack CDs and game-related trinkets."

"If that isn't enough bad news for you wannabe street thugs, it also turns out that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, the DS game, may be delayed as well. Zelnick made sure to mention that Chinatown Wars may not make it's Q1 2009 target release date, meaning that the game will more than likely be pushed back to February, 2009 at the very earliest."

Yesterday it was predicted the drug dealing minigame announced for Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars would cause something of a media frenzy, and it came true, though maybe a little sooner than expected.

Tabloid journalism outlet The Sun has posted something on their website which features charities blasting the game, and cites "experts" (editors?) who say the final version will be less explicit than stated (despite Rockstar saying Nintendo is fine with it, and they will not be softening t...

Remember those "tasteful" minigames announced for GTA: Chinatown Wars? Apparently one of them is going to be a drug dealing minigame which allows you to sell drugs for in game profit. Rockstar is saying Nintendo is cool with it. I'm just wondering how they're getting through with this on the DS while Fallout 3 can't get away with it on the PC/Xbox 360, even if Australian authoritative bodies were the main obstacle.

According to an interview in the latest edition of the magazine titled Nintendo Power, Dan Houser - Co-Founder of Rockstar Games - has told us why there is a GTA game headed to the DS and not the Wii. Apparently, "It didn’t really feel natural".

He said he was inspired by the Grand Theft Auto series (police assume from Grand Theft Auto IV specifically). The game was then pulled from shelves in Thailand. Now the Secretary General of the Catalan Taxi Federation in Spain, is asking for a ban of the Grand Theft Auto games, along with the cabbies in Spain.
