"I began playing a game yesterday, a game lauded by many, so I decided that I should have a go at it as well: LA Noire. Now, truth be told, open world games have stopped captivating my interest these last few years (yes, I’m counting Skyrim as well). The problem is that this kind of game tends to sacrifice storytelling for freedom. After playing New Vegas a while back, I said to myself that I’d rather play a completely linear story that at least has more depth than 50 square miles that are as ..."

"Friday the 13th is the day you’re most likely to get struck by lightning, run over by an ambulance and stabbed in the face by a bad tempered fella with a hockey mask, so why not do yourself a favor and remain indoors with our top five list of the unluckiest characters in gaming history."

Even though its 2012 there are plenty of games to fill the early year void. The best part of this that so many of these games are less then $20. Games like GTA IV, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Saints Row 2, Mass Effect 2, Fallout 3, and lots of others. There are plenty of other games that offer a lot of bang for your buck.

In the final entry in Gaming Irresponsibly's storytelling in games series, Matt Beaudette takes a look at the quality of writing present in most games, and speculates about where storytelling can go in the future of games.

Saints Row The Third may be the perfect sandbox game from this generation of consoles. There is just so much to do that the average gamer could spend 40+ hrs in the game. Volition and THQ have done a great job. The game is fun, addicting, full of customization, and it doesn't take itself seriously. Hopefully Rockstar takes notes from Saints Row: The Third.

"This time around it followed the lawless adventures of Russian immigrant Niko Bellic who engaged in all the same forms of mayhem that his predecessors did, but had some new moves up his sleeve, or at least they were new back in 2008. This was the time when every action franchise had started to dabble in cover systems, and Niko jumped on that bandwagon – then took cover behind it."

The trailer is out for GTA V. But there were only hints of what the game is about. The biggest question Goozernation asks is, will the game be like San Andreas? Will it have the customization? Will there be co-op? How about a multiple arc story? Each GTA game in the series was better then the last, what will GTA V bring? No matter the answers this is going to be a great game.

A visual comparison between GTA V/Five and GTA IV with the iCEnhanced mod. The argument is that maybe GTA V may not be for current gen consoles given that a lot of the visual tricks shown off in the video are equivalent to what current PCs are required to have in order to run GTA IV's iCEnhancer.

The controversy over violent video games following the trial of a sailor has continued to fuel debate.

The incident occurred in April on the submarine HMS Astute. One officer died, another was wounded and two more were shot at. Yesterday, it was reported how gamers had initially responded after a variety of newspapers had quoted the prosecutor in the trial as saying the gunman had 'started talking about Grand Theft Auto'.

Following the initial wave of disapproval from the gaming press, ...

Violent games are again in the news after being linked to an incident on a warship.

A sailor was jailed for 25 years for murder on 19 September. The incident occurred aboard the nuclear submarine HMS Astute while it was docked at Southampton on 8 April, resulting in the death of an officer. Another officer was wounded and two others were targeted. Various newspapers have reported that the sailor was obsessed with Grand Theft Auto. At the trial at Winchester Crown Court, Nigel Lickey QC, pr...

Now that the dust has settled, NoobFeed goes back to analyse the game that was lauded by many a reviewer back when it came out: Grand Theft Auto IV. This review provides a sober account of what the strengths and weaknesses of the game's single player campaign were, thus giving an idea of the direction the series will, or rather should head in, in the future.

Grand Theft Auto fans are still waiting for an official announcement from Rockstar Games about the next entry in the franchise, but that isn't stopping analysts from making some bold sales predictions for the future game.

Always improving...that's what the video game industry has always striven for. With the recent GTA IV mod, everyone was impressed with the possibility of next-gen graphics....

In this week's edition of The Catch-Up, Kyree discusses several games that he can't bring himself to return to, regardless of how much positive press some may have received.

"Rockstar Games is kicking off their Social Club Multiplayer series with some Grand Theft Auto IV tomorrow on Xbox Live. Players will get the chance to live chat with developers, play the game and its DLC, and win one of 20 prize packs that Rockstar will be giving out."

"People have all sorts of hobbies that relate to their passion for gaming, and I love seeing how all of our various talents and skills help to promote and shape our gaming lives. Rockstar Games featured some beautiful screenshot work by gamer and artist Duncan Harris, taken from his blog entitled Dead End Thrills. These shots are from Grand Theft Auto 4, and bring a whole new sense of realism to the title."

"Rockstar Games has released their official events calendar for summer 2011. The Rockstar Games Social Club Multiplayer Events series is a chance for gamers to play their favorite games against staff at Rockstar and other fans round the world. The listing of events is below."

GamersGameplay: Controversy to praise, chaos to orderly conduct, Rockstar Games is one of the companies that have evolved into a renowned publisher in the video game industry. Over the past few years their presence in the industry has changed in a good way. Countless great titles lie under their belt, however one franchise by far is the most common one associated with their name.

GameZone's Lance Liebl gives the top five big games that need a kick in the ass. These are games that are popular and profitable but that needs to do something different in order to remain on top. The list includes Call of Duty Black Ops, Madden, World of Warcraft, Halo Reach, and Grand Theft Auto IV.

"Saying that Rockstar Games is working on a new Grand Theft Auto game isn't exactly a bold prediction. However, sources close to the Take-Two Interactive subsidiary have confirmed to GameSpot that the next installment in the blockbuster series is "well under way" and is already having final touches such as minigames being applied to it. The sources said a 2012 release was "pretty likely," adding that the game's scale was vast."

L.A. Noire is going to one of those games other developers try to emulate. Rockstar has taken gaming in a different collection with L.A. Noire. The combination of an open ended world paying homage to GTA IV meets detective work is a welcome change to the industry standard. The biggest question, is will gamers see a sequel?

Here is a list of 10 of the best games on the Xbox 360 that you can currently find on Amazon for under $20. Some are many years old while others were released as recently as 2010.

"Osama Bin Laden was killed this week and to mark the occasion, a list of the Top 5 assassinations in modern day shooters has been compiled. The list takes into account who gets killed, how they get killed, and how cool it was to kill them. When I put it like that it sounds a bit demented, but if you’ve played through these games, you know how awesome the moments are. This list does contain spoilers, so reader beware. With that in mind, read on to see if your favorite assassination has landed ..."

Morality has become the gaming theme of this generation. Black, and White, Good vs. Evil with some choices doing nothing to impact the long term plot. Gamers have experienced morality in games such as Fallout 3, Mass Effect, GTA IV, Bioshock as well as several others. Goozernation takes a look at the bigger questions and asks is morality really needed? Why do gamers always have to make a choice with consequences?

Trying to please dear mummy is an exercise in futility. How to cope with it? Just enjoy life as you see fit. That means trying out new games, even (and especially, if you’re a typical adolescent) the ones she hates. Not sure what titles qualify? "If there’s one franchise that’s engendered more attention than any other, it’s Grand Theft Auto. With good reason, too - despite the controversy, or maybe thanks to it, each new title in the series has become the benchmark for open world games and video game narratives."

Amazon is discounting select downloadable PC games (Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes from Liberty City, The Witcher - Enhanced Edition and more) by up to 75%.

"It fills your living room with plastic tat, fills the games market to saturation point and features gameplay in which the controller feels more like an obstacle to immersion than a conduit between you and the game on the screen. Of course all these charges could be levelled at any game in the Guitar Hero or Rock Band series, but for sheer disappointment Guitar Hero II steps forward on behalf of its fellows to take the award.

"Since there are literally hundreds of thousands of games out there, it’s no easy task for lead characters to make a lasting impression on the player. Once in a while however, you'll come across a leader that's different. Somehow, that character manages to set himself apart from the others."

A recent listing from online retailer Amazon.com has revealed that Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition is coming to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

All Age Gaming's John Elliott brings us the 7th developer profile. This fortnight he looks at the Grand Theft Auto series developer Rockstar Games. See inside for a look into the famous multi-platform developer.

"Our games are not designed for young people. If you're a parent and buy one of our games for your child you're a terrible parent. We design games for adults because we're adults. There's a lot of kids games out there that we're not interested in playing. Just like you enjoy watching movies and TV shows with adult themes and language and violence that's the kind of thing we seek to produce.

I think that Rockstar has pushed a lot of boundaries to be able to make the art that that we believe ..."

"At anytime there’s a highly anticipated game, a article like this will certainly pop up. After GTAIV was released, a hell of a lot of people were disappointed and confused. A hefty amount of people were confused because the game got many perfect review scores but the game was far from perfect."

"In today's shooter-filled market, we spend a lot of time spraying bullets and looking down scopes. But every modern shooter gives us some kind of blunt weapon or knife for up-close encounters. In real life, if a badguy charged at you with a knife, you'd probably still shoot him. But video games make the melee button so satisfying, as you watch an opponent crumple to the ground, stumble backwards, or see the "Beat-Down" medal flash on screen. Melee weapons add a visceral side to our shooters a..."

"I think even BioWare would have to admit, though, that the sex scenes depicted in one of their most recent titles, Dragon Age: Origins - in which your character and paramour of choice roll around by the fire with their underwear on - felt a bit awkward and cheesy."

With the growth of technology in video games, the industry has seen an increased emphasis on compelling stories. The Movie Pool has highlighted 10 games that beg to be made into films.

"This generation has seen its fair share of epic titles, captivating narratives and intense action -- but not very many iconic, unique, or influential game characters in comparison to previous generations. Luckily though, there are a few of these figures in the current generation."

Although there are many great games scheduled to release over the coming months, any of the titles on this list are worthy additions to your collection.

Let's face it. Most videogame movies suck. It's extremely hard to make the transition from videogame to the silver screen and even harder to portray the game's plot effectively within a two-hour motion picture. Here's eight games that are so good that turning them into movies would be suicide.

"Rockstar Games has announced that gamers on Xbox LIVE will have the opportunity to take on some of the developers of Grand Theft Auto IV at their own game later this very day. The second Social Club Social Club The Ballad of Gay Tony Multiplayer Event is set to take place today from 4:00-7:00pm, only on Xbox LIVE."

"The Xbox 360 launched four years ago today in Europe, ushering in the current-generation of videogames consoles and putting a full stop in the life of the original Xbox. Only a handful of games for Microsoft’s first console made it to UK shores after 2nd December 2005, as the Xbox 360 began its life as the company’s definite priority."

Celebrating the 360's fourth anniversary IGN takes a look at the top 25 games on the console including some new and old releases over the years. The list is comprised of a wide variety of genres and features XBLA games for those looking for something on a budget. 360 owners can see what they've missed out on and put on their list for the holiday season.

"I hear a lot of bitching that innovation is dead in America. That’s a lie. The problem is that we have two industries at odds, neither of which is really equipped to present innovations to the masses.

First off, we have the indie community, which bewails its unrecognized genius and occasionally screams “sellout!” whenever someone in the community actually manages to make a hit.

Then we have the AAA industry, which often claims that it can’t take the kind of risks that innovation require..."

"More than a year after the original release of Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar is about to release a downloadable content pack that will be the game many fans were waiting for. Some will argue that The Ballad of Gay Tony arrives too late to make much of a difference for those who felt betrayed by the original GTA IV. The first game had tons of narrative punch, but lacked many of the little details that made San Andreas so fun: there wans't much to do outside of the main storyline, and customizi..."

"Microsoft has announced a new starting price for Xbox 360 Classics in Europe, and three new blockbuster titles for the program, offering high quality experiences at outstanding value. From this month, Grand Theft Auto IV, Midnight Club Los Angeles: Complete Edition and BioShock will join the best selection of Xbox 360 games in the Classics range. A selection of titles, including Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: VEGAS 2 and Naruto: Rise of a Ninja will now be available with a Recommended Retail Price..."

"It is no shocker that for the most part, girlfriends and video games don’t quite get along. Every now and then you may acquire a significant other who isn’t bothered by any video game, and of course there are always games like Super Mario Kart that appeals to both genders. Then there are … other games. Games that girls will despise. Games that girlfriends will curse forever and banish to the bowels of hell. Read on, for the Top 10 Games That You Girlfriend Hates you for Playing."

"This will be a debateable article for many of you, and some will simply say it is a cry piece about not having the right console, or a PC for that matter. However, to the open minded, this is a true reflection on how we have all been affected, penalised, punished or, dare I say it, betrayed by the games we love and hold dear to our hearts for simply not having the right gaming platform."

"Games should be fun.

But sometimes they get to a point where the challenge simply becomes beyond frustrating and makes you feel like an incompetent, so you don’t finish. Sometimes maybe it is your lack of skill, but other times it is just poor game design.

Or maybe the game becomes so boring that it becomes too frustrating to even bother finishing. After all, every second is a second lost of your life you’ll never get back, and who wants to be stuck playing a game that’s no longer fun..."

If we can't control it, it can't be in China. That seems to be the mantra of the Chinese government these days. If they have no means to strictly regulate part of the media, it can't be allowed. While that may not necessarily be the case, it's bans like this that give off the impression mentioned previously. This ban affects games such as Grand Theft Auto and the Godfather.

For those who don't bother clicking the source: Blood and gore isn't being banned, but rather the offending theme...

Anyone that plays games knows that receiving demos via Xbox live or PSN is never a bad thing. Consumers play the game then go out and buy it right?, but what if playing that demo that someone was excited about changed their feeling about the game in a negative way. At this point was the demo a good idea to even release knowing they just lost a sale? Here are a few reasons why demo's can either help or hurt game releases.

"Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony hits the Xbox 360 as a download on Oct. 29, Rockstar announced today.

The latest chunk of episodic content will also arrive on a disc along with previous DLC episode The Lost and Damned as Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City. Episodes is also set for an Oct. 29 release date, though no price has yet been announced."

"Published in Japan by Capcom, the game is set to drop its Recommended Retail Price to 3,900 Yen, approximately £24, on August 27th, 2009. There’s no word about a drop in price for the Xbox 360 release currently, but with the game performing far better on Sony’s console – outstripping many of Sony’s own first-party PS3 releases – it comes as little surprise that this version remains a priority in the East."

""I would expect that there would be two more pieces of downloadable content for GTA IV, that's what has been indicated to me, although formats are unsure. It's been indicated to me to me that would be the case," said Mitchell, of Kaufman Bros. Equity Research.

Mitchell also stated that he's expecting Grand Theft Auto V to be released in the 2011 financial year, and there's also the possibility of a new GTA title for the PlayStation 2 next year.

"Coming out of E3 there was no commitmen..."

The games featured in his paintings include Fallout 3, GTA IV, Half-life 2, and Team Fortress 2. Some of the paintings are instantly recognizable, while others might be a bit more obscure. If his style seems familiar, it's because his work imitates the Fauvism style of the famous French painter, Henri Matisse.

GameSpot has a pretty great expose online now regarding the "DRM dilemmna" -- that is, publisher action said to minimize piracy by limiting what gamers can do with a given title for the PC.

In it they speak to DRM advocates, opponents, developers, publishers, and DRM vendors themselves -- a must-read if you're looking to gain a broader perspective on the matter at hand, or don't know what DRM is about.

"omparisons are made constantly within the gaming industry, from both gamers and critics alike. We often compare different games and franchises in order to determine which is the greatest for that particular genre. It therefore comes as no surprise when we talk about ‘heavyweights’ within the industry – specifically, particular developers and certain franchises which are hailed as leaders … or bench-setters for a certain genre."

Major Nelson has posted up the Live Activity for the week of May 11th, and with that comes some regulars, along with some .. weirdness... such as the fact that the UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo has made it's way on the top ten for the fourth week in a row! I played it, I don't get it, how is this on the list.. *shrugs shoulders*. Though being out a year and a half, as well as having a sequel, Call of Duty 4 continues to carry a high rank on the list :D

But regardless o the graphical improvements the game is supposed to remain at playable framerates.

""As part of our long standing relationship with Rockstar, and the incredible success for both companies with the cultural icon that is Grand Theft Auto, we've agreed to the PlayStation exclusive rights of the next great franchise from the Rockstar studios," Shorrock wrote."

"While most of you are pooping your pants over APB, I am pooping mine over Prototype. If it manages to live up to the hype, I believe it will be the best game of the summer, and Radical will be one step closer to dethroning RockStar as the king of open world games."

You know, I've never been one of Thompson's harshest critics. I've always thought of him as someone who fought for something he genuinely believed in... I just felt he was incredibly ill informed.

Regardless of what I think, even his harshest critics have to admit he's done something pretty respectable here. He's agreed to appear at ScrewAttack's Gaming Convention and will participate in a live debate with Joystiq's legal columnist, Mark Methenitis on the topic of video game restrictions.

"MTV Multiplayer: If we’ve gotten to the point where we can have a “Grand Theft Auto” on the DS, how much progress does that bring you guys, Take-Two and gamers to getting a “Grand Theft Auto” on a Nintendo console?

Fils-Aime: I’ve said this — and it may have been in one of your interviews –from the get-go. I as a gamer — and Nintendo as a company — would love to see a new “Grand Theft Auto” on our home console. We think the volume opportunity is there."

Every now and then we need a helping hand in a game, so it's always nice knowing that there are characters who will point you in the right direction and send you on your merry way. "Video games allow us to enter worlds and scenarios in which we couldn’t possibly take part in in the real world. You may battle aliens on a distant planet. Or you may fight the Reich in a WWII shooter. The possibilities are endless, because what can be done in the realm of imagination is endless. So why do we continue to return to the same enemies that we’ve killed thousands of times before? The straightforward answer? Because they’re safe."

It's so strange to see Battlefield Heroes and Grand Theft Auto tied to one article but I'm afraid its true, 18+ rated games like the GTA series aren't the only ones to be victimised and scrutinised under the latest epidemic that seems to be sweeping the world.

Good old Jack has been on the gamer's radars recently and never for good reasons either. Now before I state my opinions here, I would like to point out that I am in no way defending Jack and his antics but neither am I defending anyone elses. You could say I am trying to see a good side to all of this and give my general opinion on the gaming industry. So why am I doing this? I feel that Jack is misunderstood by the methods he uses and that one thing he does press on about the gaming industry...

As we've read here and here, Thompson planned to dig into the advertisement sector in Utah. Well folks, he won the case quite easily with decent support from high up people.

"“We are aware of an error with the latest GTA IV title update and are confident the issue will be fixed within the next few hours,” said a rep.

“We apologize to our fans for any inconvenience caused.”

It was reported earlier today that Europeans had noticed pools of blood missing from around corpses, and camera angles dropped from sex scenes in the game.

Many had assumed The Lost and Damned had been the cause of the changes, by, as you can see, it was the separate patch.

""Grand Theft Auto IV" is more than 2008's Game of the Year. It's also America's touchstone, the game that continues to inspire -- inspire the awe and ire of violent deadbeats, washed-up lawyers, dumb gangs, sexual predators and news-hungry journalists fearful of gaming's effects on the poor wee tots. And once in a while, it inspires a little bit of good, too.

In preparation for the "GTA IV: The Lost and Damned" download, there's no better time to take a look back on "GTA"'s considerable ra..."

"It's freedom that gives games their distinctive character as a storytelling form. They grant players the freedom to make choices rather than frog-marching them through the action. But therein arises a contradiction: in order to feel as if they're really interacting, players have to believe they can truly go anywhere and do anything in Liberty City. "Videogame Nation brings together games spanning the last 40 years, from Manic Miner (1983) to Grand Theft Auto IV (2008), taking players on a thrilling ride through the UK's gaming generations and tracing the journey of computer programming from the hidden realm of the bedroom to what has become a multi- billion pound industry."

"One of two GTA IV episodes planned exclusively for Xbox 360, The Lost and Damned has players taking on the role of motorcycle gang member Johnny Klebitz in a story that intersects with the main game's events. The expansion includes new missions, multiplayer modes, weapons, vehicles, and music.

Rockstar will also host special events throughout the week, including sweepstake promotions, a multiplayer match against "the people behind the Grand Theft Auto franchise," and an "Xbox All Nighter.""

"The way they've built it, Rockstar's Liberty City has the legs to sustain gamer interest for many years to come. Why not do three, four, five episodes? Ultimately the graphics will begin to age, but the depth of the world and the quality of its production means that it could, feasibly, continue to remain an income stream right through to the end of this generation. For the sake of round numbers, even if only 10% of the 7 million owners of the Xbox 360 GTA IV game buy The Lost and Damned at 16..."

"I fended off last year's hype machines like a fish resisting a hook, but by fall I was caught and reeled in by the likes of Spore, LittleBigPlanet, Gears of War 2 and Fallout 3. They were all innovative, and unique and groundbreaking, but none met my unreachable expectations.

Was it always like this? Has every big release launched like an easy home run, only to strike the foul post? My childhood memories say, "No," but my retrospective of the Most Hyped Games Ever says, "Yes."

Major Nelson has posted the Live Activity for this week, summing up what is being played online in the gaming world for Xbox 360. I am amazed that despite the release of World at War, this does not hinder the CoD4 community from taking down everything that isn't Halo 3. Real football (FIFA) manages to beat out American football (Madden), and surprisingly, people are still playing Grand Theft Auto.

"Rio de Janeiro is just asking for a Grand Theft Auto remake. A large gap between the rich and the poor, abundance of foreign tourists, thriving drug trade and pervasive police corruption due to low wages combine to create a petri dish for criminal activities. But don’t take my word for it, check out these excerpts from the Overseas Security Advisory Council… they make it sound like the acts common in a GTA game are actually commonplace in Brazil’s second largest city:"

"If we think about LittleBigPlanet, Age of Conan or Mirror’s Edge, we notice they have two things in common: very successful and well received demo versions (or beta stages) and very poor, lower than anticipated game sales. And since these are not the only titles in which a demo (or the lack of it) appears to be connected with their commercial success, I believe we should analyze the influence demos have in the game world and debate: are game demos game killers?"

"The problem comes when you go back and look at your list of achievements and see that there are some that are worth 30, 50, 100 or 150 points. Those are the ones you want. You probably also make the assumption if you don’t look at the list that some tasks would be worth a lot. For example, you would think, that completing 50 horde waves would be worth 100 points or at least 50. It’s not easy to do, and you need to have four or five players that work together and stick through all the waves. ..."

"Well, the year 2008 is finally at an end and though there were disappointments, many games lived up to the hype. The decision to make a Top 5 Games list instead of a Top 10 list was rooted in the fact that there were so many great games that it was tough for the staff to develop a consensus past the first five. Plus, the longer the list, the more you start to get all political with it and say crap like, "Boy, we need another game from x console in there." So here they are, our top five games ..."

As we all know, EA has been trying to take over Take-Two, but so far, have failed. Don't think it hasn't hurt Take-Two, though. As a result of EA's bid, the Grand Theft Auto IV publisher has lost over $11 million.

As we get closer to the new year, things aren't looking to get any better for Take-Two.

"An object's visual design and intended purpose should work together. And while this may seem like common sense, many developers fail to recognize the need to follow such concept. This is most evident in open world games like Mass Effect and Grand Theft Auto 4. Most if not all open world games can fall into two categories, beautiful and aimless or ugly and purposeful."

While going through my financial news this morning, I came upon a nice press release from Take Two Interactive (NASDAQ:TTWO). The most interesting part was about halfway down they posted tables of their releases for the 2008 fiscal year, as well as their projected releases for the 2009 fiscal year.

Nothing that we really didn't know already, GTA: IV PC, and GTA Chinatown Wars obviously caught my eye, as well as Mafia II, Bioshock 2, and Borderlands.

Add that to their recent publishing a...

”In addition, Take-Two has agreed to fund the future development of certain new intellectual property to be owned by a newly formed company controlled by key Rockstar Games team members and published exclusively by Take-Two.”"

"Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. today announced that it has established a new incentive compensation program for the Rockstar Games label that is primarily based on a profit sharing arrangement, and at the same time has entered into new long-term employment agreements with members of the creative team of its wholly-owned Rockstar Games publishing label. The CTA has caused mixed emotions for the video game community as advertising is scrutinized. Before the end of April, public transport in Chicago refused to allow GTA IV advertisements around their business. This was in response to some recent shootings, feeling it wouldn't do any good and Fox hinting it was a reason behind them.

Take-Two fought back, suing the transporters. Now for six weeks GTA IV will be advertising on public transport as the company licks its wounds from the settlemen...

"If that isn't enough bad news for you wannabe street thugs, it also turns out that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, the DS game, may be delayed as well. Zelnick made sure to mention that Chinatown Wars may not make it's Q1 2009 target release date, meaning that the game will more than likely be pushed back to February, 2009 at the very earliest."

"I don't think the chart needs to be explained, you have the games, you have how much space they would take on your hard drive, and then how much time you'd be saving (not listed on the chart is how much relief you will be giving your poor disc drive). No longer do 360 fanboys have the fodder of "oh you PS3 people have to install games blah blah" .. in the end, if you have a big enough hard drive, you know you'll be installing these games soon enough."

"That reality is that Senator Obama may have questionable views when it comes to video games. One of his opponents during primary season was the infamous Hillary Clinton, another Democrat who has done everything in her power to block games such as GTA IV and Manhunt from ever seeing the light of day.

Gamers seem to also have forgotten that the same man also generalized them all as underachievers."

Aside from having a horrible MySpace-esque photo that makes you want to punch him in the face, Ryan Chinnery is responsible for a number of sexual assaults in Kent, UK over the course of summer 2007. So who gets your vote?

Destructoid give us a list of 10 reasons to why SR2 (Saints Row 2) is more superior to Grand Theft Auto IV (GTAIV).

With GTAIV being so over hyped and pretty much every review out there giving it a high score, some people became scared to say it just wasn't really 'that' good. Although that doesn't mean it wasn't a good game and people didn't enjoy it since some people where happy with GTAIV's new turn.

Many people say when Rockstar made this title far more realistic than it's predecess...

Originally set for a November release, the PC edition of Grand Theft Auto IV has now been delayed to December 2, eight months after its console iterations. In any case, improvements will come with it. Between this and Mirror's Edge, PC gamers should have a great winter.

The recommended system requirements have also been revealed, which you can see (along with the original minimum) in the quote.

"With some games, ESRB ratings can be either too damning, or not restrictive enough. How many parents buy their children copies of games like Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV, regardless of the warnings on the box, pamphlets shoved into their hands by concerned Best Buy employees, or simple common sense? On the hand, there are plenty of other games that the ESRB just rates poorly. Mass Effect gets an M rating for fictional alien violence, but Call of Duty (which is based on actual military event..."

Microsoft's not-messing-around PR team writes: "Continuing its blistering pace on the Xbox 360 platform, the first of the Xbox 360 exclusive downloadable episodes for this record-breaking game will be available this autumn - the only console with new Grand Theft Auto IV content available this Christmas."

The team behind facial animation in Grand Theft Auto IV, Image Metrics, demonstrates a new capture technology that allows for the creation of facial graphics that are almost indistinguishable from real life.

The Games for Windows official website has posted Recommended System Requirements for Grand Theft Auto IV's PC version, coming on November 18th. Will your rig be able to run the Game of the Year candidate?

Well we all know about EA trying to merge with T2 before the release of GTA4 to get some of the goods with that game. But T2 has repeatedly prolonged the merger stating the offers they gave them several times isn't enough money. But now that GTA4 sales continue to dwindle down and fall, including the standings, maybe T2 might have to rethink about that offer. But that won't be good for long time GTA fans.

Did T2 do the right thing and prolonged the merger, or did they play exactly into EA...

"Take-Two Interactive announced alongside its quarterly results that Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV has sold over 10 million units as of August 16. The release noted that the publisher's fiscal third quarter was "led by the blockbuster" and continues to exceed the company's expectations.

With the PC release and the localized Japanese version still to come, it's looking more and more likely that GTA IV can hit that 15 million mark in 2008, as Hudson Square Research analyst Daniel Ernst ..."

"Seriously though, GTA 4 does have some good points...

It's a Grand Theft Auto game, so naturally it has a tremendous soundtrack. The funny talk shows, the country music, the hip-hop, it's all here. I have a surprising favorite amongst the soundtracks, though.

In San Andreas, CJ was a gangster and thus quite a bit of rap music was included.
Niko, however, is eastern European, so a station playing exclusively eastern European music was included.
Why I like this style of music, I have no..."

GameInformer, the popular magazine about all things gaming that has somewhere near three million subscribers, always has a different game on the cover each time. MTV wanted to see if there was a GI cover curse, so they looked back into the past and pulled out magazines from 2-3 years ago.

One game titled Superman Returns didn't so well, receiving 6/10's. That's nothing compared to Fear and Respect, which was at one point on a GI cover, but ended up being canceled!

All in all, the game...

Another week has passed, which means it's time for some Australian game sales!

Mario Kart Wii has snatched the lead from the Wii Fit game, the Wii Play bundle is still selling steadily in third, followed by the oh-so-popular Super Smash Bros. Brawl and SingStar Amped.

Most of the games in the overall sales list are either the from the Wii or the DS. With all the success Nintendo has been having lately, I'm not surprised. To check out some console-specific sales, hit the source.

"Last night on the Warzone, Weapon X gave us the skinny on the GTAIV DLC. Here are the things he mentioned:

1. GTAIV DLC will arrive in late October or Early November
2. The DLC will be more like an expansion pack
3. It’s rumored to cost 1600 MS points and will be very large

None of this is confirmed yet but Weapon X has some very good sources. Stay tuned for more info on this in the coming weeks."

At the Games Convention in Leipzig, Rockstar was showing off the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV. It looks like people who are waited for the game to come out on the PC are lucky, they're getting some new features that weren't available in the console versions.

The game streams a lot better, the textures of the game have been bumped up a notch, and there is a "higher visibility range". Don't forget about the new modes for multiplayer, as well as a program that is recording the game cons...

In a surprise press release today, sales trackers NPD Group, Enterbrain and GfK Chart-Track Limited have announced that they will be collaborating on an all new Top Global Markets Report for video game sales, which will combine the trackers' US, Japan, and UK data, respectively, in a sales ranking chart to track the global sales of video games. They are currently working on incorporating the other countries they cover, namely Canada (NPD) and the rest of Europe (GfK). This is the one of the...

The police have arrested three kids for a series of car bombings with Molotov cocktails in Atlanta, USA. They said they learned how to make the Molotov cocktails from the game GTA IV; they used a sprite bottle, a red rag and lighter fluid. They were soon charged with arson, criminal damage to property, and possession of explosive devices.

Everyone (Sony fans, and Final Fantasy fans) seem to be clamoring about FFXIII not being PS3 exclusive. This isn't the first time this has happened ladies and gentlemen. Lest you forget that VII (arguably one of the best in the series) was originally intended for the N64?

GamesRadar goes through a list of 10 more titles that brought out a similar reaction with fans.

After a teenager from Thailand was arrested because of murdering a taxi driver, police questioned why he did it. He said he was inspired by the Grand Theft Auto series (police assume from Grand Theft Auto IV specifically). The game was then pulled from shelves in Thailand. Now the Secretary General of the Catalan Taxi Federation in Spain, is asking for a ban of the Grand Theft Auto games, along with the cabbies in Spain.

"WWE man-mountain Randy Orton last night became an unlikely defender of the industry's creative freedoms, urging developers to fight back against critics with a rallying cry for "more violence" in videogames. The fantasy wrestling superstar, who's currently sidelined with a broken collarbone, was in London to promote THQ's SmackDown vs. Raw 2009, and revealed to Eurogamer how he was sick and tired of the bad press gaming receives, insisting that the makers of adult titles had nothing to be ash..."

X-Play's (part of G4TV) awards show, G-Phoria, aired this past week with some dominating results. The show bases its awards off of what fans voted for, and apparently, Halo fans jumped at the chance to participate in the voting; Halo 3 took the top spot for Game of the Year, along with the Xbox 360 being awarded the favourite system. But the most unique award comes with a "lovable" director, Uwe Boll. Turok won as 'next film that Boll should head up.'

Cracked shows us that violence in video games did not begin with the GTA series. Back in the days of the Atari 2600 and the Commodore 64- games like Barbarian: The Ultimate Warrior of the Commodore, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Death Race were ripping people apart, pixel by pixel.

Make sure to check out some of the gruesome gameplay videos in the link.

The scary part is- some stores refused to stock even these gems back in the day - comparative to the situation in Australia today.

GameTrailers have claimed they'll release some news regarding the DLC for the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV this Friday on GameTrailers TV. The PC edition is scheduled for release this November.

In addition to this they've also said they'll be interviewing Michael Hollick (voice of Niko Bellic) on the same day who may bring them this insight to the DLC (unless they already have it themselves).

I wonder what it will be - could it be a new island and missions?

"Grand Theft Auto IV will be released for PC on 21st November in Europe, Rockstar announced today.

Pleasantly, that's just a few days after the PC version arrives in North America on 18th November.

Rockstar founder Sam Houser says it "looks and plays beautifully on PC and we can't wait for people to play it".

A PC version of the game has been rumoured since before the PS3 and 360 versions were even released, but Rockstar has never previously confirmed it.

The Article: An incompetent Lieutenant tries to pin even more crimes on videogames, while admitting that it is "just one of his personal theories, as in not fact."

The Real Issue: Ever since the dawn of competitive internet gaming, this has been a tactic used by pedophiles to score pictures of their victims. It basically is internet prostitution.

"Good evening everyone here! The first thing to write about is “PC Gamer” magazine. Now all little dirty secrets are unmasked! We contacted them and now are waiting for official response. However, editor published such post on magazine’s official forum: “Rockstar didn’t announce official release date, but as a real Rockstar’s fan you should know when it always happens”.

Popular Gaming Magazine PSM 3 have unleashed another round of rumors on the Internet concerning the PS3. Among there list is that both Sims 3 and Left 4 Dead will be coming to the PS3, IO Interactive is working on a new Hitman game, the 360's exclusive DLC for GTAIV will be coming to the PS3 6 months down the track and many more. Some of these mirror rumors from other sites so perhaps a couple of them are true.

"Yeah we pretty much all knew that this was on the way at some point or another. Only thing I'm worried about is the minimum system requirements to run that monster."

Two friends were sitting down, playin' some GTA IV on their 360. The owner of the 360 kept taunting his buddy that a PC version of GTA IV isn't coming out, so he decided to pull a little prank on Rockstar. They sent an e-mail giving problems about trying to play GTA IV on the PC, using an all-in-one TV/Computer so Rockstar would pay some attention to it. They got an e-mail saying that "The PC version of GTA IV has not even been announced for release and is still in development so is not about...

Bobby Kotick, chief executive of the new company, which describes itself as "the world's most profitable pure-play online and console game publisher", told Variety the company was now too big for its needs to be met by the ESA and suggested it would be appointing its own lobbyist in Washington in place of the association.

A GotGame blogger actually defends that raving lunitic Jack Thompson, whom as you all know, is to be disbarred. I cannot be 100% certain that the article is pure sarcasm, but you do have to admit - if if is not - there are some scary people in this world. (I'm pretty sure it is - for the record)

An extremely refreshing article by the folks over at GameRevolution showing how as violent videogames are on the rise - violent crime rates are actually falling (and at record rates). So take that Jack Thompson, Take that Connecticut Senator Gayle Slossberg. For those ignorant fools who still will not believe these facts (not that there are any here on GG and Neo, but...) there are pretty and colorful charts, and after all a picture is worth a thousand words.

"Real news from the virtual world:

_BEST OF 2008 (SO FAR): E3, the video-game industry's big trade show, is next week, and you'll be hearing a lot about all the new software coming between now and Christmas. But there's a bit of a lull until Aug. 12, when "Madden NFL 09" unofficially marks the beginning of the fall game season. July is a good time to catch up on some of the games you may have missed. Here are the best of the year so far:

"Melodrama evokes a universe where a cosmic struggle between good and evil is being waged, a struggle that nevertheless remains hidden behind everyday appearances. Only at moments of heightened emotional intensity does evidence of this other world break through into our own. "The average age of a video game customer now hovers around the late twenties to early thirties. The variation on either side of that average reveals a fascinating picture, too. Many of the first generation of child gamers now approaching their forties have children of their own. Whole families now gather around a game console, just as in previous generations the family gathered to watch a video or Morecambe & Wise on TV or to play Monopoly together.

"During the making of our huge catalogue of GTA IV video guides, to add to the frustration of having to produce perfect insane jumps against a deadline and shoot every damn pigeon on the map in half a day, we also had to contend with the inconvenience of Niko's mortality.

In the most recent installment of anti-video game legislation: Connecticut Senator, Gayle Slossberg (D) (of course she's a Democrat), is busy futtering around GTA: IV searching for an alleged 'Rape Scene' that she is convinced exists.

Even though separate studies from Harvard and USC have concluded that though video games may desensitize youth - it will NOT turn them into sociopaths. That is an innate trait that cannot be brought on by videogames. Someone should tell old iron-sides Slossbe...

"So does media imitate society, or does society imitate media? Since both are extensions of human nature, the answer can only be both. But as a video game, GTA is just a simulation - a make-believe world where you have no consequences for shooting peoples' heads off or cutting up cops with chainsaws while stoned off your ass.

These troubled teens have learned the hard way that reality doesn't translate well from video games and that they can't get away with everything.

Wagner James Au thinks that next gen gaming is no longer a driving force. On June 7th, according to VGChartz, GTA 4 sold 9 million copies worldwide, but GTA: San Andreas sold over 20 million copies, while GTA 4's sales are already dropping and the game took over 100 million dollars to make! The game couldn't even boost next gen console sales and Au seems to think that if GTA 4 can't sell consoles, no game can.

"1. Fixed an issue where players were unable to enter or exit vehicles in GTA Race.

2. Fixed an issue where scripted vehicles were causing games to unexpectedly crash.

3. Improved reliability and frequency of PS3 online leaderboard updates.

4. Fixed a rare hang some players encountered when moving from a Race or GTA Race lobby into gameplay.

5. Fixed a hang that would occur when players were switching teams during the countdown in the lobby."

Pixeloo, the guy that "untooned" Mario, Homer Simpson and Stewie Griffin, has now created a realistic (and rather handsome) version of Niko Bellic from Grand Theft Auto IV. The detail is amazing, going right down to every little stubble hair and pore.

Direct downloads from providers such as Steam can now provide direct content to the gamer without him or her ever having to leave their respective houses. There are many PC only games that have brought PC gaming back to the forefront, instead of the projected lingering behind consoles and dying out. Online PC gaming is also responsible for helping this growing trend.

"On Monday, chip maker Advanced Micro Devices, which already supplies the graphics power for the Nintendo Wii and the Xbox 360, showed the "SNL" skit at an event in San Francisco. Then AMD gave a taste of what it says a game maker can do with its new microprocessor: A 30-second clip of what appeared to be a real scorpion skittering around a terrarium, presumably hunted by another equally terrifying bug. The scorpion demo was made by the film director David Fincher (director of "Fight Club") on..."

"Nothing's perfect. Stare closely enough at anything - even a masterpiece - and you're bound to find flaws sooner or later. They might be small. They might be insignificant. They might not detract from the overall quality of the piece at all...

Except when they really, really do. With these seven games, in fact, you don't need to stare. Their flaws are so huge, so obvious, so frustrating and so effing obnoxious that you can't help but notice them, despise them and wonder how the damn things..."

With so many reviewers desperate to get their GTA IV review out as quickly as possible, many people have questioned the incredibly high scores it's been given. Directly after this came the wave of cynics giving the game a serious bashing.

But we've taken our time with this one, because it's important. And now that the hype and anger has faded away, we bring you our totally unbiased and carefully thought out review of GTA IV.

Don't believe the hype? Then see what you should believe.

Contrary to expectations, analysts are finding Grand Theft Auto IV hasn't spurred sales of consoles. This is described as "baffling", with one analyst saying "this is likely due to the exclusivity factor as exclusive releases on Sony's platforms have historically shown to be a better hardware driver than that of multi-platform releases."

Great game, to be sure, but myself, I've got a ton of reasons not to pick up either asap. What are your reasons for not picking up an Xbox or PS3 for GTA?

"Metal Gear Solid 4 will drive more PS3 hardware sales than the mighty GTA IV did, say industry analysts, despite GTA IV having been the biggest-selling entertainment launch in the history of the universe.

Sales of PS3 are up 150 percent over last year and, according to Eedar's Jesse Divnich, this storming success will continue, and even accelerate, with the release of Konami's blockbuster.

"Sony's PlayStation 3 can claim a relative small victory as its hardware unit sales were up 150% ..."

The May 2008 NPD numbers have been recently released, and by the looks of it, the numbers overall were below people's expectations, with hardware and software numbers decreasing since last month. The article has a bunch of glitches and what happens in all of them. The glitches they've classified in this category are what they call with friends like these..., the skydive swing set, iExplosivo, The curly Howard, the 18-wheeler flip, under the wheels and inside Nikos head. All the glitches having videos of whats being done except for inside Nikos head.

Despite winning 2 Guinness Awards and help aiding the UK's economy for the month of April It didn't really boost Console sales. It did boost Software sales alot, but didn't exactly push meaningful increment of console sales for 360 and PS3 according to analyst Colin Sebastian.

Makes you wonder what was the cause of this, you would think getting these types of awards was going to move some meaningful sales.

In the UK anyway, Lego Indiana Jones: Original Adventures has claimed the number one sales spot, now just in front of Grand Theft Auto IV, which held the position for five weeks.

Worldwide, the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV stands at number four, while four other Wii titles fill the other top 5 spots (Wii Sports at number one, Mario Kart Wii at 2, then Wii Fit and Wii Play).

"Forget Niko, Liberty City itself is the true star of GTA IV. Rockstar has packed the city with enough tiny details to keep us playing and discovering for years. And man oh man were we thrilled to find this haunted playground near the first safe house. How is it haunted, you ask? The swing sets have chains hanging from them that, when properly nudged with a vehicle, will fling you violently up, down or sideways. Check the video for shocking proof. We’re not sure if this is a glitch or an east..."

"We love silly humour, so it's no surprise that The Naked Gun (and Police Squad, the series it spawned from) is one of our favourite series. And, of course, we love the 'police car drives through sillier and sillier locations' opening sequence - lovingly lampooned by shows like Family Guy or the Red Rock Cider ads.

Which is why we decided to do our own videogame homage to the skit, using Grand Theft Auto IV. So here's our Naked Gun intro sequence, GTA IV style...

And for anyone who would..."

If you didn't know, it was reported that the GTA IV DLC was going to be delayed until the fiscal year of 2009, but Microsoft told CVG that the GTA IV downloadable content is still scheduled for a Fall 2008 release. Microsoft says just because the content is coming out in Q1 of the fiscal year 2009, doesn't mean it won't be released in 2008.

Getting 100% in any GTA game is usually a long tedious task. However the Stat Tracker at Rockstars Social Club shows that somebody named jiu-jitsu_4420 beat GTA4 100% with a time of 10:50:09.

"Those waiting for more Grand Theft Auto IV content will have to wait a little bit longer. According to Take-Two's Fiscal Q3 2008 report, the first batch of GTA IV downloadable content will be coming in Q1 of fiscal 2009, instead of the originally planned Q4 of fiscal 2008. In real calendar terms, that means the DLC, which is rumored to include whole new cities, is due between November 1, 2008, and January 31, 2009.

The reason behind the delay, according to Take-Two, was to "provide a bette..."

It's not something that you see everyday - Saints Row 2 making fun out of GTAIV. Since the first Saints Row was released, it was often remarked as a 'GTA Clone' but now they're trying with all their might to one up the GTA and be even better, and from the looks of the video they may be doing just that...

GamersDailyNews looks at the original Grand Theft Auto game in comparison to the latest instalment. Despite GTA IV breaking all kinds of sales records and forging a reputation all of its own, GDN says the soul of the original has now been entirely erased.
Find out why GamersDailyNews thinks Grand Theft Auto is better than GTA IV. Gouranga!

Grand Theft Auto has managed to still maintain it's spot in number one for the fifth week in a row even though its sales have dropped by 22%. Race Driver: Grid has debuted earning second spot while Mario & Sonic at the Olympics and Wii play have both jumped up a spot each. Haze fell from 3rd to 6th while Sega Superstars jumped up from 15th to 7th. Pro Evolution Soccer has managed to pick up 2 spots while FIFA08 only picked up one.

What's Sony's fatal mistake in their poor launch and poor sales? Loot Ninja narrows the option down to the fact that they discontinued the 80GB Playstation 3's. Maybe they'll boost at the 80GB Metal Gear Solid 4 Bundle? Maybe they've lost to towards the gamers that bought the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV. Who knows? We won't unless we rewind back to the release of the PS3.

"After being evaluated by several ratings organizations worldwide, the game was assigned a “mature” rating - this is 17+ in the United States and 18 in Europe and the United Kingdom. Moreover, the ESRB has repeatedly urged consumers to use the ratings as a guide, and that the word “mature” in the ratings is equally as important as the number.

In other words, this game is not intended to be played by curious youth about to get their first look at a pair of boobs, Samhita.

Here's an 'unfortunate' yet hilariously ironic story. So, a buyer heard of deal where you can buy Grand Theft Auto IV and a Xbox 360 Pro and receive a $50 gift card. Good deal, right? That's what he figured. So he went on down, bought it and brought it home. When he opened it, he was shocked with an 'unfortunate' surprise. His 360 was gutted and inside, sat book 7 of the "Series of Unfortunate Events". At least whoever did it had a good sense of evil humour.

The game Age of Conan has beaten the fast selling Grand Theft Auto IV in Germany and Sweden, sending Grand Theft Auto IV to number two in those countries. In England, Grand Theft Auto IV is still first, with Age of Conan sitting at second.

However, in Spain both Age of Conan and Grand Theft Auto IV failed to be first, Wii Play is up there instead!

So we're probably all sick of GTA IV reviews by now, but here's a new one for the Australian edited release. Although the reviewers didn't talk about the exact content that was cut out, they did mention that some parts of the game seemed inappropriate for it's M15 rating. (M15 is the highest game rating in Australia).

"Even though GTA the quatro has only been out a few weeks, you’d think we would’ve seen it all by now. But that kind of thinking is foolish! Like you, we’re discovering astounding new details every day, and we’re not talking major features like the new aiming system or the wacky shit the colorful locals have to say. We’re focusing on all the small touches that go into making Niko and Liberty City feel well-rounded and three dimensional. And while some of these things aren’t “new” per se to gam..."

"When you got your special edition copy of Grand Theft Auto IV, did you ever think 'Hey, that would make an awesome case for a PC?' No? Well, Mark Harris did. So there.

During a quiet spot at work, Harris took a miniITX system and saw the potential in its size. "Normally I don't see the point in buying limited / special editions of computer games," he told us, "as they come with items that you will find yourself throwing away after a while."

"Voice actor Michael Hollick was paid £100,000 for his fifteen-month stint as Niko Bellic in Grand Theft Auto IV.

Hollick, who was an unknown quantity before the game's blockbuster success, has mixed opinions on whether or not he was given a reasonable amount for his role in the biggest entertainment product of all time.

"Obviously I'm incredibly thankful to Rockstar for the opportunity to be in this game when I was just a nobody, an unknown quantity," he said last week according to the ..."

Head designer over at Team Ninja Tomonobu Itagaki said in a CVG interview, when speaking about the Ninja Gaiden titles, the 'violence issue' with video games is really not what some make it out to be:

"I believe we're following morality as well in only showing violence between combatants. I think the 'violence issue' is something that is within each individual who plays the game."

Itagaki also praised Grand Theft Auto IV.

"Grand Theft Auto IV is a true masterpiece, a towering achievement in gaming. From the minute you step off that boat as Niko Bellic you believe it all, you become wrapped up in a tragic tale that is as much his, as it is yours. Haunting, hilarious, touching, dynamic; the possibilities and experiences in Liberty City are endless."

"Take-Two rightly ignored the option of releasing for the Nintendo Wii even though the Wii is the best selling, so far, of the next generation systems. The Wii is carving out a niche market that offers it a larger sales base, but is not as popular with the demographic likely to love the new Grand Theft Auto IV. The Wii appeals to older gamers and women who appreciate its interactivity and the fitness promotion products that Nintendo is developing, but for the boys who love GTA the battle was a..."

Slobs of Gaming has complied the 7 most evil things you can do in the game, Grand Theft Auto IV. The list includes burning hookers, face-stepping a civilian, chucking your date out of your car, driving on the sidewalk, using your chopper's blades as a weapon, maiming hospital patients and of course, making a big explosion by blowing up the gas station.

Under 9 different headings they comprise different ways of how it can help you to beat your mates in the online racing in GTAIV. Some contain videos to show you but others contain only pictures of words. The 9 headings consisting of The Start, Surviving the Pack, Cornering, Respawning, Bikes, Boats, Helicopters, Free Racing and lastly Veichle Choice.

Director of product management for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live Aaron Greenberg says the DLC for GTA IV on Microsoft's console is 'not possible' for the PlayStation 3 as far as he's aware. This doesn't exactly rule it out though:

"Rockstar and Xbox have only said there are exclusive episodes coming this fall to Xbox 360, [said Greenberg]. "I might put that up for a bit of wishful thinking on their end."

The NPD Group recently released their tracked sales numbers for April 2008, for the four week tracking period that ends on May 3rd, 2008. Many thanks to sonycowboy at NeoGAF and the NPD Group for the numbers.

April saw the release of two major games: Grand Theft Auto IV, which shattered industry records, and Mario Kart Wii, the latest installment in Nintendo's Mario Kart franchise. You would think that there would be strong sales all around for the three current generation consoles, but ...

Today Sony released firmware update 2.35 for the Playstation 3, the minor update according to Sony fixes stability to several PS3 games. Considering Rockstar's announcement about the freezing problems in GTA IV being Sony's problem you would think this patch would solve the issues.

Unfortunately so far there appears to be no change, however Sony have said that they have identified the issue and are working on a solution. So maybe in the next one?

An interesting update to the 100 ranking thing: according to a piece in the Wall Street Journal, former employees at Rockstar claim one of the GTA creators Sam Houser "has his staff to 'go to war' with offending publications to demand a better review or score."

"The level of hype surrounding Grand Theft Auto IV is something we haven’t seen since the childhood memory-killing Episode I. As such, we wanted to wait a while before we reviewed this game, just to make sure we could give our readers an honest review to the game. And now, several weeks after the game’s release we can safely say that it really is as amazing as everyone says. Even before playing Grand Theft Auto IV, the intro song for the loading screen is eerily amazing. It gives you chills as..."

""Grand Theft Auto would be super interesting for me, and I think I would actually be the right guy to do it, because my movies are all bloody and violent and I don't have a problem with action scenes," said Boll. "But look, they will go, in the end, with a Michael Bay or a Brett Ratner, and it will be a PG-13 movie made for $150 million. I think it would be better to make a $30 million, very hard, brutal movie without compromising, but I'm not optimistic.""

"But just how many of these consoles flying off the shelves are bought with the sole reason of playing Grand Theft Auto 4 in mind? Well, it seems in the Xbox 360 side, 40% of the green machines being sold have the game going with them.

This comes directly from Major Nelson podcast co-host e, who cited the statistics in the latest talk session with some of the industry's big celebrities. Here's his quote, verbatim: "Roughly 40 percent of consoles going out the door had a copy of GTA going wi..."

GTA 4 has been out for two weeks and is still dominating the charts in the UK despite a 77% drop in sales! It also gives Microsoft's claim more weight about GTA 4 being more popular on the Xbox 360 version, as the 360 version had 62% of the sales this week compared to 55% the other week.

Monique over on Girls Don't Game (that's satire!) has some intriguing views on gamers and politics. She speaks about gamers' general willful ignorance towards the politics involved with the video game industry these days (Clinton wants to censor the crap out of them, did you know that?). Her solution to make things better for everyone: both sides have to start listening to each other. It's a great read, anyhow, especially her dissection of the GTA controversy (despite the 8 million articles o...

"So to test out exactly how free the experience is, we decided to see how far we could get through the game's story without committing a single illegal act, documenting it every step of the way, (For the purposes of our own sanity, though, we're discounting things like speeding, trespassing, running red lights, public intoxication, reckless driving and accidental damage to property as "crimes." If doing it in front of a cop doesn't get you in trouble, it's not technically illegal.)"

Rockstar has decided to hurry up and get on with Grand Theft Auto V before Electronic Arts attempts another take-over. So, what city will they use this time? Nobody knows for sure, but the company sent out specialists to evaluate some cities and the finalists have been announced. Beijing, Paris, Havana, Cancun or Venice. Which city do you think will work for the fifth installment of the GTA series?

Mother's Day is coming up(thank me later for the reminder) so Games Radar decides to celebrate with the top ten 'Mother's I'd Like To *bleep*'. Don't get all excited now boys, but go ahead and slowly look through the list which includes LuLu from Final Fantasy X-2, Milica Bellic from Grand Theft Auto IV and The Boss from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. "The biggest game of the year deserves the most in-depth face-off piece yet produced by anyone, anywhere, so we've massively upgraded the scope of our coverage and the amount of 'assets' you can view. There's still the same 720p and 1080p 24-bit RGB screengrabs taken from both versions of the game of course, this time using the new Digital Foundry TrueHD capture station, so why not take a look with the first of our galleries, featuring general gameplay shots?

Aparentlly, people from the Playstation Board have been e-mailing Sony and Rockstar over the freezing problem in Grand Theft Auto IV and in one e-mail, they received a response from Rockstar that specifically said that Sony will be contacting them to repair/replace their Playstation 3 due to the freezing problem. Are they trying to say that it is your system that is the problem?

Silviu Stahie, a video and PC games editor has written up a blog on five reasons that if Grand Theft Auto IV gets ported to the PC, it will be better than the console reasons. Two of the reasons are that the controls will be much better and how all the bugs from the console versions will be phases out for the PC release. Go to the source to read the three other reasons.

Relating to previous rumours about downloadable city content, it seems like we'll be getting all that, but with a twist: our anti-hero Niko has apparently booked a ticket to San Andreas, according to a fan who uncovered it on the Social Club website. Far as we know, this content is only for the Xbox version.

Dedicated Grand Theft Auto IV players will be pleased to know that the "100% Club" contest at the Rockstar Games' Social Club has been extended by a fortnight.

The competition, which challenges players to receive 100% completion in the single player section of the game, will now end May 19. Those who manage to pull off the weighty task will be awarded with a "Key To The City", a limited edition Rockstar Games branded key with a $50 value.

"Rockstar Games has released a GTA IV patch for Playstation 3 today that prevents Gamespy’s servers from being overloaded and therefore reduces the impact on those servers that were causing the game to stutter and lock up. We continue to monitor the performance of the game both on and offline and will provide further updates as necessary. We want to assure everyone that, together with our hardware partners, we continue to strive to give our fans the best possible interactive entertainment expe..."

"Rockstar parent Take-Two has splurged the news that GTA IV has topped a massive $500 million in sales in its first week of release.

It's additionally confirmed that GTA IV's sold around six million units to date, approximately 3.6 million of which went on opening day.

That means GTA IV has broken all entertainment records for day one and week one sales by dollar value, according to the publisher. Should you want some kind of comparison, Halo 3 did $300 million in its first week (althoug..."

We knew GTA IV got a perfect 10 on Gamespot, but the news here is the score was actually taken up a few notches from a previous 9.5. Database error, or disturbing activity?

A number of unlucky gamers have had to wait that little bit longer before properly immersing themselves in the experience that is GTA IV, due to a number of technical hitches which have caused online problems and even entire system crashes. However, Eurogamer.net has been informed by a Sony employee that a patch is due to be released today which (hopefully) solves these problems. As was presumed, the crashes are thought to be due to the extreme strain put on Gamespy servers in the release of ...

With the most awaited title for the PS3/XBOX360 being released last week, Take-Two have released the sales data for the game on the two consoles....

In total, GTAIV sold 6 Million Units globally, bringing in an estimated $500 million, and of the 6 million units sold, over half (3.6 Million to be close to the exact value) were sold on it's opening day (estimated $310 million).

Console wise, the current standing is that the XBOX360 has managed to sell 20% more consoles than the PS3 (at le...

"As of late, much of my time has been spent in the friendly confines of Liberty City, and my wife has been extremely tolerant of my gaming time. Last weekend we were about to go out to eat, so I began shutting the game down when the thought popped in my head, “After watching me play for hours, I wonder if my wife wants a turn?” She was sitting on the couch next to me, so I extended the controller to her and asked, “You wanna drive around for a bit?” She replied, “Sure, why not.” During her tim..."

Cristism. Everyone needs it and while Grand Theft Auto IV was being praises with a 10/10 from IGN and living up to the hype, somebody from video gamer sat in their basement to write up a blog on all the wrong things of the game. He relates the new to the old, basically and how Rockstar changed things...for the worse. Go to the source to read full details, but the changes that he doesn't like in the game are the 'too-realistic' driving, harsh cops, the world, the bad combat, the overall fun(wh...

Remember not too long ago when the GTA IV advertisements were taken down after a public backlash? Well apparently Take Two are suing the Chicago Transit Authority for violating there agreement. They are seeking $300 000 and for the ads to be put back on

Glenn Beck seems to have loved his go at GTA IV with JT, and is attempting to continue it. Only this time, he tries to become a martyr and say that all gaming bloggers make out that he is the enemy. He also says that those bloggers are "losers". My question is, if the bloggers are losers, then what is he?

As you probably know, Grand Theft Auto III was a huge hit on the Playstation 2 and while the Xbox was sitting in the corner, slitting its wrists, Sony gloated over the victory, since the game made the PS2 stand out and overtake it's rival. This, essential decided the winning console of that generation. Now getting to this generation, Microsoft was smart and planned for the future to get Grand Theft Auto IV for their Xbox 360 in order to not make the same mistake and also even trying to make i...

The idea of a female gamer as a commodity, I think, is horribly outdated now. Since women have entered the video game world, though, even more stereotypes have developed, many regarding the type of games we prefer. Also very misleading.

But I’m not going to argue with your preconceptions of female gamers. Instead, I bring you yet another GTA IV related editorial. “But RCG, you’ve never posted anything on GameGrep!” That’s because I write for Neoseeker, so normally everything I write w...

""What we've heard anecdotally from our retail partners is that the Xbox 360 version of the game is outselling the PS3 version by a margin of two-to-one," said Aaron Greenberg, director of product management for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live during an interview Thursday.

"That mirrors what we saw with pre-orders, but it continues to hold true at retail, at least for the first couple of days. It's a great sign."

In day-one sales in the UK, the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV outsold the PS3 version: ..."

"How many gaming consoles do you need? Could Grand Theft Auto IV put a chink in the Wii's armor? Or will the Nintendo Wii continue to stomp the Playstation 3 and XBox 360? Share your thoughts in our Reader Comments section below.

Early on, some industry analysts predicted trouble for Nintendo (other-otc: NTDOY.PK - news - people ): The Wii had a relatively pokey processor, it lacked a hard drive, its controls were unusual. Two years ago, developer Chris Hecker took those whispers into the o..."

Sid Shuman from Game Pro has apparently found a fix for that freezing problem Grand Theft Auto IV has and guess what? It's very, very simple. He says that all you need to do is log off the Playstation Network before loading the game or simply unplugging the internet connection. So yes, it's only been tried with the Playstation 3 version, so nothing from the Xbox 360 unless you want to experiment yourself. No word from Rockstar to confirm this, however.

There's no doubt you've seem the countless articles flooding in about Grand Theft Auto IV, but Blend Games believes that the game deserved the hype without a doubt. Now let's rewind back to Halo 3 which had loads of hype as well. They believe that Halo 3 did not deserve the hype at all due to the fact that it didn't live up to it, for one and it didn't fill in the shoes of the 'next-generation' gaming. On the other hand, Grand Theft Auto IV fit those shoes perfectly and deserves all the hype ...

"Until then, we have a German website presenting the Grand Theft Auto IV PC version DVD case, together with a price and, what matters most for all of us: the release date. According to the website, the PC version of Rockstar's title will be made available starting the 30th of November this year. What should normally be a further proof that the date is correct (or, at least, that a PC version is in the works) is the fact that pre-order is available. It remains to see how and if Rockstar respond..."

As many of you know, Electronic Arts tried to buy out Take 2 Interactive, but if that did happen, how would the Grand Theft Auto series change? Would it be the same? Or crash and burn like Command and Conquer when the company took over Westwood Studios? Talk Playstation figures that the franchise simply wouldn't be the same and would be ruined if EA took over.

"A number of GTA4 fans, apparently exploiting a consumer loophole, have bought copies at the Dubai airport duty free shops. All 40 copies of the title at Dubai Duty Free sold on the April 29 release date, a salesman said yesterday. Another shipment of the game, for PlayStation 3 and Xbox360 consoles, has been ordered and is expected to be available in two or three months, he said.
This was treated as great news by Kris Karacinski, a PS3 owner and GTA fanatic who believed he would be forced to..."

Remember the Hot Coffee scandal which surrounded San Andreas? It involved a hidden bit of code which if hacked allowed the user to play a sex mini game with your girlfriend after you took them out on a date. After much work a similar thing has been found in GTA IV. A secret mission titled Hot Coughing and starring someone who bares a uncanny resemblance to one of our favourite lawyers... Jack Thompson

The Late Show host Conan O'Brien could not resist making fun of GTA. With so many news stories about this game being evil, its good to see a change of news stories. Conan O'Brien shows off the softer, friendlier side of Grand Theft Auto.

"The Family Gamer and Grand Theft Auto IV don't necessarily go together. But as many of you have told me on my Twitter feed, this is just the sort of thorny subject you want to hear about. So here I reflect on my first two hours spent in Liberty City and find I am surprised by just how much health and life there is in the place."

"Many people love the GTA series for its rich narrative and compelling characters. But if you’re at all like us you revel in pure, unadulterated carnage. We put a crack team of daredevils to work squeezing every ounce of madness out of GTA IV’s wide-open sandbox. We turned helicopters into people-blenders, stared down speeding trains and pulled off some of the sickest automotive stunts you’ll ever witness. Want to see the screaming good results? Then sit back and enjoy while we work over your ..."

"And so it begins: CNN reporter Glenn Beck has gone proper off on one, warning parents on television of the new 'murder celebrator' Grand Theft Auto IV, which he says is "training our kids to be killers". Ban this sick filth!

"Whatever happened to Pong?!" asks a furious Beck, going into a frenzied rant we thought only existed in GTA's own media-mocking radio shows.

"Here's what you need to know tonight; in Grand Theft Auto your son, husband or boyfriend can hire a prostitute, have sex wi..."

"Vice President of Rockstar Games and co-writer of GTA IV, Dan Houser, has given a revealing interview to the New York Magazine.

The first question was about how much the industry has changed since the last GTA was release a few years ago. "Yeah, *bleep* all this stuff about casual gaming. I think people still want games that are groundbreaking. The Wii is doing something totally different, which is fantastic. We're hopefully going to prove that there's also a very big audience for people w..."

GTA IV! GTA IV!! GTA IV!!! Seems to be what every Dick, Tom and Harry is thinking about these days. A psychiatrist has also voiced his opinions about the game. And shall we say, he takes a rather different opinion?
"Why would adults want to play GTA IV?"
Huh? I thought people were against children playing GTA IV. Looks like I wasn't entirely correct. He says that he cannot fathom why adults would want to play games that "have totally flipped" the sense of justice.

"Nelson was born and raised in the South Bronx. His life dream was to play video games in his living room for profit. Though that never panned out, he built achievementjunkie.com, a podcast and blog about the Xbox 360, with his partner Natalie Sousa. He now works as an Online Community Manager for Xbox and Games for Windows."

"When did a videogame release become such a big deal?

Well, the U.S. videogame industry is worth a whopping $18.8 billion a year--that's less than McDonald's makes selling burgers and fries but 2.5 times as much as all the music CDs sold last year. It's also enough money to turn even the most conservative of entertainment executives' heads. Scott Steinberg, vice president of product marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America, predicts we're about to see the "GTA Effect"--box office sa..."

With news that the PS3 version of GTAIV is freezing more than its Xbox 360 counterpart, Sony have issued a statement (of a sort) addressing the issue and letting people know that they are indeed working on a solution to the problem. Let's hope that they find one soon...

Well if you don't then Kotaku sure do. Discovered in the depths of Liberty City (the fictional city in which the story of GTAIV is based), you can quite literally see the heart of the city... and it's actually beating. Included in the Kotaku article are directions on how to get to the area with the heart... and a video so be sure to take a look at the source.

First Jack Thompson is getting rid of GTA IV's ads, now he's buying a copy of GTA IV? Something is fichy ...

Is it too much to hope that Jacko has turned to the gamer's side? Yeah, it probably is.
Looks like he's just preparing to cook up even more controversy.

On the bright side, he has just contributed to Rockstar's sales. Way to support the people you're against, Jack.

As a lot of people might have guessed, GTA IV did make a splash on opening day. Breaking records on both consoles.

335,000 copies were sold on the Xbox 360. Blowing away Halo 3's debut of 266,000.

274,000 copies were sold on the PS3. It made 45% of all sales, and was a format record breaking performance.

Based on EPoS sales data and estimated retail transactions 609,000 people went online in one day.

19 reviews for the latest Grand Theft Auto title thus far, and all carry a score of 98 or 100 (most carry the latter). 277 user reviews average out to 8.3. Considering the freezing errors we've seen, the online troubles, and the suspicious activity at IGN, is it fair to be suspicious, or at least critical?

In the game, Grand Theft Auto IV, there is a feature that if players visit the site(via the 'fantasy internet' in-game) "www.Littlelacysurprisepageant.com" which showcases child beauty pageants, they are immediately wanted by Liberty City Police. Are they hinting pedophilia or it simply another one of Rockstars] funky 'just-for-laughs' jokes?

IGN had a video mix that took scenes from the new game, Grand Theft Auto IV. Okay, normal, but listen to this. The video was a mix of parts of the game where you saw lap dances, strip clubs, sex and lastly, the shooting of hookers. The video was called “Ladies of Liberty City: Very Bad Things” and showcased sex and shooting women. What was IGN thinking? In response IGN took the video down and said that they "crossed the line".

"It seems the PS3 version of GTA IV is having a few online issues as hoards of PS3 gamers hit the internet to complain.

According to their rants, dialing up the multiplayer mode on Niko's usually trusty mobile phone keeps them waiting as the game attempts to connect, before giving them a text message that reads: "Cannot connect to game provider, please try again later."

Of all the games to break, it should really not be this one.

Rockstar was unavailable for comment at the time of wri..."

"Rockstar has said "no comment" in response to reports that a PC version of GTA IV will release toward the end of the year.

In January we reported that French retailers had been cited as the source for an October 2008 release for the sequel on PC, and yesterday German e-tailer City Disc had a PC version down for November.

City Disc has now amended its listing to give an October 30, 2008 release, and translated accompanying text now apparently reads: "The release date for GTA 4 for PC has..."

Rockstar has announced that the Social Club portal has finally launched.

The developers are daring all of the GTA 4 buyers to finish the game to 100% completion in seven days or less, so better pay attention to the story behind GTA 4.

There are also a few other challenges lined up for the gamers, and they could be either multiplayer or single player.

Here is a link to the portal: http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/

"The man told me that the problem is apparently only effecting the 60 GB version of the Playstation 3. He said the problem is not across the board for the 60GB PS3s but rather only impacts some, so their tech folks are working around the clock to try and figure out what is causing the issue.

He ended the call by saying that they really have no idea when a fix will be coming because they can't figure out what is exactly causing the problem and then once more apologized.

"I feel terrible a..."

You've heard of Grand Theft Auto IV locking up, but what are the reasons for this. Well, at first, it was believed only to happen on the 60GB Playstation 3, but now the Xbox 360 has the same problem. So as you know, Rockstar designed the game so that there are no load times whilst playing. However, a problem has occurred while doing so. By making there no load times, they have overloaded the cache, causing the game to freeze. So instead of providing a smooth ride while player, the game will f...

Someone apparently when down to his local Gamestop to pick up Grand Theft Auto IV, but was roughly turned down since he did not have a pre-order? What's up with that, you say? Well, he went to Target and they gladly sold it to him, no pre-order required. Is it just a case of the clerk being a jerk or is GameStop that limited in it's copies of GTA IV.

There have been speculations that Grand Theft Auto IV on the Playstation 3 was running on 630p, but recently, it has been confirmed to be running on 640p. So the game is running at sub-HD, just like Halo 3. Comparing to the Xbox 360 version of the game, which is running at 720p with 2xAA(PS3 is 0xAA).

The Special Edition of Grand Theft Auto IV is out, and it comes with a whole bunch of stuff.

  • A medium sized duffel bag
  • A black metal Lock-box
  • Rockstar keyring with lockbox keys (natch)
  • The Music of Grand Theft Auto IV soundtrack
  • The Art of Grand Theft Auto IV hardcover book
  • The game. Totally playable.

"According to the news service, a 23-year-old man was attacked by a knife-wielding assailant as he passed a line outside the Gamestation. The victim was treated for several stab wounds and has since been released. The attacker, who police said appeared to be waiting in the line of about 50 to 100 people, was not apprehended.

In the mugging, an 18-year-old was robbed of his copy of the game and beaten as he walked home from the store with a friend. The victim was taken to the hospital with a..."

""Most of the young people who play these games know they’re only games," [said Smith]. "They’re smart enough to know they’re only games. It’s that small percentage that don’t realize, or that start thinking the wrong way, and end up getting themselves in trouble by thinking, ‘you know, this is cool, I can do this in real life.’

"small number of PlayStation owners have reported problems with running Grand Theft Auto IV on their consoles, claiming the game keeps freezing.

"I got home from the midnight release with my copy of GTA IV Collectors Edition unpacked it live on the feed installed and guess what, it froze!" said Matt Griffin on his blog PlayStation Network Home. "I tried a couple more times and it even have reinstalled 3 times, it still keeps freezing.""

"The Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants has expressed its concern over the depiction of Niko in GTA IV, worrying the game could make life hard for Eastern Europeans.

"The figures show that East European immigrants are not proportionately responsible for any increase in crime," a spokesperson said to The Times. "This plays on untrue stereotypes."

The Grand Theft Auto series is no stranger to allegations of racism and stereotyping.

In November 2003, Cuban and Haitian groups in ..."

"What's that you say? GTA IV's only been out for a few hours, and already the internet's decided that both the PS3 and 360 versions are broken? That's what many forums - as well as many of our readers - would have you believe, with reports of the game locking up during/following the game's first cutscene, an error so severe you apparently have to unplug your console at the wall. Shades of Bully on 360, perhaps?"

IF YOU WANT A FRESH GTA IV EXPERIENCE, DO NOT READ. SPOILERS AHEAD.
With that said, let's move on to ... "The Complete Grand Theft Auto IV Walkthrough"! Granted, it only briefly explains the missions, but covers the entire GTA IV storyline.
This also shows that there are choices that you can take, that may affect parts of the storyline.

In another stellar review of Rockstar Games' imminent sandbox title, GameSpot have awarded Grand Theft Auto IV a perfect score of 10.

Akin to IGN's glowing review of the game, this is the first perfect score the notoriously tough GameSpot review team have awarded in several years. Other games that share this honour include Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3, Chrono Cross, Soul Calibur and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

"I spoke to an employee of UPS over the weekend, and he told me that a surprising amount of workers were getting busted stealing the game from the shipment boxes. In one 24-hour period, three workers were fired, and more interviews were scheduled for today that would likely end in termination.

I asked if this was common when big-name games were released, and he told me no; the situation was novel, or he wouldn't have brought it up at all. The game was enticing enough for many workers to ris..."

"We know you can't wait to get your hands on this sandbox, action-adventure game; even the Guinness World Records has announced that it is keeping an eye on GTA IV to see if it will gain more gaming milestones upon its release.

Taking around US$ 100 million to make, Grand Theft Auto 4 is easily one of the most anticipated games of today, spurring controversies here and there. This is why Guinness World Records is wise to take notice. Besides, the Grand Theft Auto franchise has been a proven..."

Anti-racism groups are up in arms about the soon to be released GTA IV. The game which will allow players to randomly murder in the streets, take part in a viscous drug underworld and steal and pillage as they see fit has one major aspect that has ranckled the hackles on those against race discrimination. Apparently the fact that the main character is Eastern European is supposed to be teaching those who play the game that people of that ethnicity are bad people. Isn't it time that the world ...

"LOS ANGELES — There's no Burger King tie-in or special flavor of Mountain Dew. No commercial directed by Peter Jackson, or even an action figure.

The run-up to "Grand Theft Auto IV" has been considerably less ballyhooed than last year's over-the-top "Halo 3" debut.

Yet when "GTA IV" parks on store shelves on April 29, the latest entry in the controversial video game franchise could be the most lucrative launch in entertainment history — and one that many people may not even know about."

"Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games referring to itself as "the purveyors of video gaming pleasure," has done it again, releasing another video game that contains extreme sexual and violent content. Take-Two, is anticipating $400 million in sales in just one week with its anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto IV tomorrow, April 29th. The Entertainment Software Rating Board ("ESRB") rates this game an "M" for "Mature," appropriate for ages 17 and up. Retailers are not ..."

"IGN.com just came out with its review of "Grand Theft Auto IV" and it's a perfect 10 rave.

I want to note up front that I haven't played much of "GTA IV" yet, so I have absolutely no basis to claim it's not a 10. The bits of it I have seen in previews are really good. So I'm not at all accusing IGN of being dishonest in this particular case.

HOWEVER... what the hell is with the concept of an "exclusive review?" Is anyone else as troubled by this entire concept as I am?

I just got an ..."

Firstly please for forgive me for yet ANOTHER article about GTAIV but with only a day left, it seems obvious why there's such an influx of these...

This time I'm bringing two pieces of news. Firstly that you can actually activate cheats via your Mobile Phone by phoning certain numbers... and secondly that phoning these numbers can block Achievements stopping you from getting the full Gamerscore...

Could the same be true for the Playstation 3 Entitlements?

Oh and I've added a screens...

Head on down to your nearest tw@t cafe, and type in www.whattheydonotwantyoutoknow.com and you'll find a plethora of maps... what do the maps show? Well they show locations of three items Pigeons, Armours, Weapons, Unique Stunts, Health Pick ups, Entertainment Areas, AND MORE... images of some of the maps follow...

With only a couple hours till it's released, it's not suprising that GTAIV is being featured on BBC News with the ever present, over-mention of the violence in the game...

It was bound to be made sooner or later, and well... here it is. IGN Insider have put up a video comparing the XBOX360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV to the PS3 of the game, and comments are made along the way...

To summarise those comments in short, the PS3 version has faster loading time, whilst the XBOX360 has more vibrant colours. But take a look at the video yourself and judge it yourself...

Note: Due to some mix-up at GameTrailers, you'll have to go to the source to view the video...

Here is another review of the most anticipated game at the moment. GTA IV. Less than a day away, this review has made me want the game even more. They have gone quite in-depth with this, mentioning little things such the difficulty of driving around a corners plus the different radio stations that you can listen to.

Cannot wait, this review is raving about it!

We all knew that GTA IV was going to be censored in Australia to get a 15+ rating, as there is no 18+ rating in the Australian game rating system. Rockstar has now decided that New Zealand will also be recieving the same censored version of the game.
$50,000 worth of preorders placed by Australians at GamePlanet NZ has been cancelled due to this censorship.

There has been plenty of controversy in gaming lately, from Mass Effect's sex issue to Resident Evil 5's racism. But they all have something in common: Gamers lashed out with a "they don't know what they're talking about" attitude as soon as these 'controversies' arised and rarely bother looking at it from the critic's point of view.

A recent example of this is N’Gai Croal's blog on the racist imagery in RE5 ... Croal explained that anyone who wasn't familiar with the Resident Evil series ...

"We already expect Rockstar North to hit it big with Grand Theft Auto 4 (Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3), but it's not a well known fact how much money it cost developing the behemoth of open-world games across three and a half years. Interesting enough, GTA 4 could very well be the most expensive video game to make in history.

Leslie Benzies, Rockstar North president and producer of Grand Theft Auto 4, reportedly made a wild guess saying it took around US$ 100 million to build the ..."

So the results are in, and to no one's surprise GTA IV is being touted as an incredible game, with an immersive story, impressive graphics, a fairly good multiplayer mode, and a whole lot more.

GameTrailers reinforces this with their review of the game, leading to a 9.8/10 score, and very few complaints.

"Here are the best Grand Theft Auto IV Xbox 360 screenshots you'll find anywhere. They are sorted by latest first, and grouped by the date they were uploaded, so you can easily see what's fresh."

Theres nothing much to say but 18 new videos! The first one shows a good old shootout which looks pretty good. The next one showing us a threesome with two strippers. Then the third one shows us a tour of the helicopter.

The game is almost out and your just itching to get the game and more news could only help that anticipation right? Well, the newest video is out and it gives us a real taste of the amazing physics that are in the game, with these stellar car crashes.

"Even if you haven't been in a Blockbuster store in a while, you probably remember the importance of that "new release" outer wall. I know when I was a kid, before Netflix and before Xbox Live video downloads (the two ways I rent movies today), going to Blockbuster on a Friday and scanning the outer walls for anything new and exciting to bring home and watch that weekend was always a big and exciting event (surmise what you will of my social life as a child).

That's why it's a pretty big de..."

Well, you may already know that gamestop is having a Midnight Release for GTA IV, but what you may not know is that according to some gamers, Gamestop has informed some costumers by pre-order call to go to the store 6 hours before the game's launch on Monday night.

People there will have the chance to process their transaction so that they can get home and play the game that much sooner.

Find a store near you by hitting the source link.

Jack Thompson is at it again, taking away Grand Theft Auto IV ads from Miami bus stops/shelters. Now it has joined Chicago who also has no ads on their bus stops. Jack Thompson ranted that M-rated games should not be viewed by teens at the bus stations. However, ESRB said that this would not be a violation of the Ad Review Council due to the fact that the mass majority of bus riders are adults.

Wedbush Morgan analyst Micheal Pachter as well as BMO Capital Markets' Edward Williams both believe that Grand Theft Auto IV will be more of a success for the Playstation 3 hardware sales then the Xbox 360's hardware sales as they believe people may be able to justify there reason to buy the Playstation 3 because of the heritage of Rockstar and the connection from GTA and Sony.

IGN have posted their review of the free roaming king that is Grand Theft Auto IV, along with an exclusive video review.

Grand Theft Auto IV will be available this Tuesday for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 systems in a worldwide release.

Note: This content contains gameplay "spoilers".

GameTrailers have thrown meat to the dogs in the form of a brand new GTA IV trailer, which focuses exclusively on Niko Bellic, the game's protagonist, as fans wait anxiously for the game to be released in three days time internationally, on April 29.

"Grand Theft Auto IV baby! It’s the game of the year no matter how you spin it. Seriously, what else are you looking forward to (Metal Gear Solid 4)? Although, this M rated masterpiece begs the question: how do the youngins get their play on? Surely they’ll get carded at the gates of GameStop, leaving them with no way to experience Niko’s hustle through the newly revamped streets of Liberty City. Why waste that expensive marketing campaign and all that street hype on just the big kids? Well, T..."

Grand Theft Auto always gets a lot of praise from the critics and fans, well it does deserve it. But the article shows why the GTA games are not as smart as they really seem. The main points are the fact that the games exploit stereotypes, the fact that the plot elements seem unoriginal, the repetition of missions and the fact that you can't play Grand Theft Auto without being violent.

Well finally someone has come along to straighten up the Grand Theft Auto IV argument on how it'll be better on this system and so on. He has supposedly played it on both system for hours and says that they are perfectly equal and to make your decision on which system to get it on, simply go with the system on which your friends will be playing online with.

For those who can't wait until next Tuesday, another gameplay video of Grand Theft Auto IV has been posted online. The footage again comes from the leaked Xbox 360 version of the game, but is of decidedly higher quality than previous efforts.

Included is a capture of the initial loading process, shown for just under a minute upon game boot. The name of what appears to be the last completed mission is shown in the bottom right corner. There are no other load screens in the game.

"Heroes, cities and decades change, but in the world of Grand Theft Auto, the hard-working hooker will forever remain. No matter what the year or console, we can always count on her to patrol our virtual streets.

Isn't it time, then, that this beloved gaming icon received the spotlight she deserves? And more importantly, isn't it fun to laugh at really cruddy last-gen graphics? We think so - which is why we've rounded up every prostitute we could find and pitted them against each other in a..."

GTA IV is already pirated. That means no more interesting GTA IV related news, right? Wrong! The truth is, this is what's more interesting than the game being pirated. (Rather shocking, if not interesting.)
Some Australians have got their hands on GTA IV already. NOT the pirated ISO. The game in physical disc format. It seems some e-retailers have dispatched some copies 5 days early by mistake.
Rockstar says only a handful of copies were sent like that.

We already know that GTA IV is 6 GB, unfortunately for Microsoft. And that does fit very well on a Dual Layer DVD. Now the thing is, games don't get smaller. Nor do they remain at the same size. This "do not remain at the same size" factor could very well be a problem for the 360, according to Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser.

He says that the next GTA would have to be tightly squeezed into a DVD. But this does in fact bring some good news. That is, Rockstar seems to be already working on th...

Someone has posted a video of GTAIV's gameplay (360) containing footage of Niko running around, stealing a couple cars and fighting some unlucky peds. Not the best quality, but check it out. :)

Amazon is being bribed by Sony to promote Grand Theft Auto IV for the Playstation 3, specifically. "Play GTA IV in all its glory on the Playstation 3" is the exact quote. Before, this used to toggle between the Xbox 360, but the update confirmed that it was a paid campaign by Sony. What's more interesting is that it seems like Microsoft wants to rebel "next week".

"At approximately 1:45AM EST the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV was leaked onto the internet. According to our X3F tipsters, who better plan on actually buying the game, thousands of users are leeching the 6.36 GB potential game of the year candidate. The release is a rip of the PAL version, specifically from the Asian market, and comes a mere six days before retailers place the game on store shelves.

We don't want to get on our soapbox here but we hope our readers would shy away f..."

After Microsoft had been reported trash talking, it seems the PS3 is going better with pre-sales than the XBOX360. Most people including myself thought that since the 360 version will be receiving extra features, that the sales will be better. It turns out that the sales were neck to neck but it seems the PS3 is still pulling through. Whats you opinions on the matter?

Dan Houser, the Rockstar founder has shot all possible speculations on there being a Grand Theft Auto Movie as during a interview with Varirty he claimed that they do not plan on making one as Rockstar never deemed the idea interesting and instead wish to protect the property of the game instead of milking as much as possible out of the franchise as it is the main asset of the company.

Sony's 2nd Grand Theft Auto IV Bundle Confirm of the day and this time it is in direction of Australia though unfortunate to say Sony Computer Entertainment Australia have planned for this to hit the stores 2 days after the Official Release of the game which is April 29th.

The bundle is going to consist of a Playstation 3 40GB model, a SIXAXIS wireless controller and a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV and the price is currently planned to be AUD$749.95 (£358, $715).

The Rockstar founder Sam Houser has claimed that there will be a difference between the graphics for the Playstation 3 version and Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV. He also goes onto claim that each version has there own feel and look towards the gameplay though at the same time they are both (to him) neck and neck with each other on which one will be the better.

As previously speculated by Swedish retailer, Webhalen that a Playstation 3 Grand Theft Auto 4 Bundle was on the way. Well Sony Computer Entertainment Europe today have come out and confirmed that there will be one and it is going to be priced at 439 (£353, $700). The bundle is going to consist of a Playstation 3 40GB model, a SIXAXIS wireless controller and a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV and is said to save consumers a small but better then nothing 25 (£20, $40).

You know the drill, GTA4 is close to release so once again Jack has to have another go. This time he has decided to target Take-Two executive chairman Strauss Zelnick or rather his mother. In the letter sent he accuses her of everything from being a poor parent to his son is selling a murder simulation and then quotes the bible to justify himself. Oh the irony

"You might have noticed that a little game going by the title GTA 4 is due out in just over a week. Even if you haven't been caught up in the euphoric hype across every gaming forum on the internet, chances are you've seen the trailer on TV, seen a 10/10 review in a magazine or heard people talking about it at work. To say Grand Theft Auto 4 is hyped is quite possibly the understatement of the year, with people expecting the game to be what dreams are made of. The problem is, can it, or any hi..."

"On Attack of the Show! tonight, Kevin announced that G4 will be showcasing the first ever gameplay footage of Grand Theft Auto IV this Sunday at 12pm EST. This will be the first time real gameplay of the title has ever been shown to the public (as in someone actually playing it, not a video featuring crazy camera angles and carefully edited cutscenes), so if you wanna see how it looks before you pick it up, be sure to tune in. I am struggling to decide, as I will be picking up my limited edit..."

The whole world knows that there is a game called Grand Theft Auto which is rated 17+ (In some cases 18+). But a part of that world also knows that many teenagers below that age limit play this game. The question is, how do they get their hands on the game?

The team at the MTV Multiplayer Blog has interviewed three underage teenagers to find out how they got their hands on the game. Read on.

Microsoft reported they will be supporting the launch of GTA IV like they did with Halo. However, they also have been reported trash talking about all the things you can be doing with your time while waiting to install the PS3 version of the game. I think Microsoft has taken this rivalry to the next level, but read the article quote below and share your views on this.

"Rockstar has been spending big bucks on GTA IV advertisements lately, and with the release date just a week away, a brand new mural has appeared in Downtown Los Angeles. Possibly the largest GTA IV mural to date, the massive paintings are located on the side of the Hotel Figueroa at the corner of Figueroa St. and Olympic Blvd."

"Can you think of anything bigger than the launch of GTA 4 on April 29? We sure can't and we're already putting together our plan for how to best play the game while also getting some work done. You may have heard of Sony releasing a PS3 + GTA IV bundle, but that is yet to be confirmed. Microsoft seems to be countering this threat with their own bundle, consisting Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV. They also seem to be offering the 'Arcade' version of the system which does not include a hard drive. They’ll retail for $499.95 (Arcade) and $679.95 (Pro).

Game Daily has decided to diss the Playstation 3 and give 4 reasons on why Grand Theft Auto IV will be better on the Xbox 360 than the Playstation 3. A couple of the reasons include that many PS3 games require many gigabytes to run whereas the Xbox 360 does not and how the PS3 didn't come with HD cables where the 360 did. Go to the source to view the other two Whether you think these reasons are simply ridiculous or you agree with them completely, everyone has opinions and even when the game ...

Shopto.net is just one such online retailer which has started the Packaging Process, earlier today, I received an email from Game telling me that to ensure that we get the game delivered on the day of release, that they will be starting the packaging process from tommorow which will start with the Payment being taken.

That's the question asked by GamePlayer, with GTAIV just over a week away, the question springs to mind - Will GTAIV cause the XBOX360's of many fans to show the dreaded Red Rings of Death? You could argue that it certainly didn't break with Halo 3, so it's unlikely to break with GTAIV, however, likewise it can also be argued, that GTAIV is certainly a longer game which will take an approximate 100 hours to do the core missions, and that coupled with side-quests and a multiplayer mode, could ...

While the police and other officials in Chicago try to settle the recent shooting incidents, a Fox News affiliate has questioned about the posting of GTA IV advertisments on buses and buildings that are owned by the Chicago Transit Authority.
As a result, the CTA president has informed the Fox affiliate that the adverts would be removed.

Rockstar have announced that for the up and coming phenomenon that is Grand Theft Auto IV, that you will no longer be able to listen to the Radio whilst walking around the streets through your Cellphone as once planned as they have removed this feature from the game, though have stated no reason why unfortunately.

Looks like the only method you are able to is retro style, and that is through the cars stereo.

Eurogamer have written up their first impressions of Rockstar Games' highly anticipated sandbox sequel, Grand Theft Auto IV. A host of gameplay features are detailed in an honest look at the game that will be taking over the disc drives of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles worldwide April 29.

"What is art? It’s a fairly straightforward question, yet it encompasses a limitless amount of correct answers. Art is defined by Webster’s Dictionary as the conscious use of skill and creative imagination, especially in the production of aesthetic objects. What happens then, when the physical aspect is removed?

The other day, I asked my friend’s father, one of the most level-headed people I know, if he considered film to be a form of art. I was hit with a rapid response confirming that ye..."

It was recently confirmed by Take Two Interactive's annual general meeting that Grand Theft Auto IV has now officially gold! What does this mean? It means that GTAIV is now being manufactured and is ready to get loaded onto a truck and head to a retail store. GTAIV is now one step closer to being released.

Bring on 29th April!

Jonathan Lee Riches, an inmate in a medium security prison has sued Rockstar over GTA IV. Reason : The game is a direct threat to his life. God knows how.
He's actually filed a handwritten complaint voicing his um... concerns.
To add to this, GameSpot has found that he has sued both Atari and Activision as well, under similar claims.

Even then, that is not the worst part. This man has unsuccessfully sued Martha Stewart, New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, President George W. Bush,...

That's right, the 1up Preview was partially done on the PS3 version of the game, and the author of the preview was kind enough to answer a few questions about the game, notedly about the mandatory install. That's right, the first advert for Grand Theft Auto IV has been released and can be seen in it's full glory below, showing never before seen scenes:

With just over a fortnight remaining till the game is released, it's about time that previews start coming for Grand Theft Auto IV. One of the recent previews has been from 1up.com, which has mentioned that

"You'll likely notice the same graphical ‘quirks’ that the series has dealt with since the jump to 3D. The same filmlike, grainy framerate exists and usually holds steady, but it can momentarily dip when things get frantic"

Of course those that have played previous iterations of the ga...

Do you really know how much a typical game will make? Well, the rough estimate is around 10 million dollars, but now the bigger question of the day. How much will Grand Theft Auto IV make? If you're taking a wild guess, I bet it's over the 10 million dollar hope. You're right. It's 390 million dollars more. Can you believe that the game will rack in 400 million in merely the first week!? 'Inside sources' from Xbox Focus are expecting. Whether they're out of their minds or the game will blow o...

That's right guys, the Brady's Game Guide for GTAIV has been announced weighing in at a cool 288 Pages, the guide has been written by Tim Bogenn & Rick Barbain alongside Rockstar. However, no matter how much time Rock* have spent with the duo, one thing can be guaranteed - there will be mistakes, however those that have gotten the guide for the previous iterations have never been disappointed.

Those in the UK will be able to snag the guide for a cool £12.99 on the day the game is released...

"Speaking to the Financial Times, Riccitiello said "The buzz in Hollywood, which I heard from some Hollywood folks...is people are worried whether Iron Man the movie is going to get killed by Grand Theft Auto the game."

"It feels like what movie moguls might have seen in the 1920s and said: 'Hey, we've got talkies now, where is it going?'" he continued, "I feel like we've stepped through a time window where our games are so compelling and seem so real.""

The Rockstar Games Social Club will be opening its doors on April 17, allowing players to pre-register their details ready for launch day in a fortnight's time. The website, accessible via your computer browser, will log individual player data for upcoming Rockstar Games titles, starting with Grand Theft Auto IV.

The full Rockstar Games Social Club service will launch April 29.

The Official Xbox Magazine has reviewed GTA4 and scans have hit the internet. With a shocking score of 10/10. Is the game really that great. We will just have to wait and find out.

"First of all, the credits. The crew is EXACTLY the same as that from the introduction to San Andreas. I can imagine Rockstar is a relatively tight-knit family, and who would give up what for many developers would the dream job of working for them? But things change, San Andreas is four years old and I doubt there is a company on the planet that hasn’t changed just a little in the last 4 years.

Secondly, the style is exactly the same as that of San Andreas. The only difference is the artwor..."

Many say yes, many say no. Many have no idea, and many are between opinions. A previous article 'Rockstar Screwing Microsoft over GTAIV?' brought around the question 'is downloadable content really a system-seller' or is the 'system pack a system seller'.

Many of the comments in that article geared towards the DLC and whether people on the fence about which system would go for would buy the XBOX360 just for the DLC or not... well Game Critics were just as unsure, until they thought about ...

Although the game doesn't come out until later this month(April 29th), doesn't mean so people can't be sneaky and get the game early. So it seems that the intro may seem 100% legit, you can't be sure if it is modified or not. You can decide for your self.

Gametrailers have put together an analysis of the final Grand Theft Auto IV trailer, "Everyone's A Rat".

GamesRadar takes a look at twelve potential flaws in GTA IV and consider why no amount of hype can overlook these problems and cause gamers a lot of disappointment when they got so excited about the game only to find out it's not as good as they thought it would be. That's not all, though; there's even reasons why the flaws don't even matter.

So now the question is: Will GTA IV live up to the hype or not?

It's certainly not rare for a game that is about to be released, having updates all over the place, and so it should come as no shock nor surprise that the official GTAIV website has been updated. GTA IV is coming soon, and retailers everywhere are starting to advertise the game like mad to increase the hype and to try and increase their potential profit on release day. There's still no clear way to determine whether the PS3 or 360 version will fare better, as the game isn't even out yet, but Sl!ceGaming has put together a list of four reasons (and two possibilities that almost made their list, including, ironically enough, the RRoD) why they think the 360 will do better.

Uk retailers "Shopto" has confirmed that there will be a GTA IV bundle package releasing for the Playstation 3 on April 29th and is expected to be £299. It is not however claimed what will be fully in the bundle though from the price you can assume it has the 40GB in it.

This has however not been confirmed by Sony yet though has been climed by Shopto to be coming soon.

Yesterday, it was reported that GTA IV could have a PS3 bundle, but it had not yet been commented on by Sony.

Sony's commented now, however, and has claimed that it's nothing more than a rumor. They've not said whether it's a possibility or not, however, so it's possible that it might happen, but as of right now the official word is no.

"Rockstar’s lawyers really don’t waste time. Following the posting of what claimed to be the world’s first GTA IV review yesterday, all that’s now left of the piece is a smoking hole and the rather curt message, “This site has been removed at the advice of legal council.”"

Ahem. Australia is going to get a special and rather... different edition of the awaited action game Grand Theft Auto IV. How exactly different it would be, we wouldn't really know. But we do know one thing. That game is going to be rated 15+. Smell a rat, anyone?
Of course, they say the game still has "strong violence, strong coarse language, drug and sexual references", but something is cut out. Wonder what it'll be.
History tells of many edits done to GTA in Australia.

More details about the length of Grand Theft Auto IV's story mode have been revealed after the BBFC's recent rating of the game. Nearly eight hours worth of cutscenes were submitted to the board for review, reassuring gamers that there'll be a lot to see when the game reaches stores worldwide April 29.

We all know GTA IV is going to be popular. It even seems as if though it will beat Halo 3's records on sales in the first week. Gamestop decided to partner with Rockstar to form a new GTA IV commercial, which is a parody of common travel advertisements. The video does show off the game, and is funny enough to remember.

It's pretty obvious to everyone by now that GTA IV will be big; most GTA titles are. However, just how big will it be? Current estimates are stating that Rockstar's new entry into the GTA series will overwhelm Halo 3's first week sales statistics, and we're just talking about the 360 version here!

This game will likely sell consoles and do a lot for Microsoft and Sony both. The question now is: Which company will GTA IV do more for? Either way, Rockstar and Take-Two win, but the super...

After the continuous back and forth battle between Rockstar and the British Board of Film Classification over Manhunt 2, they have decided to approve Grand Theft Auto IV with an 18+ rating with, as the BBFC proudly proclaims in bold, red lettering on their classification entry, "no cuts made."

It sounds to me like someone's a little sore after being whipped into shape by the British court system.

Take-Two executives must have thought they were clever by delaying its annual shareholder meeting by a week to April 17 so that EA's buyout offer would expire, but EA saw through their ploy and extended their deadline appropriately to April 18. Take-Two is still urging shareholders to say no, but they have stated that they're open to being bought... Even by EA.

The catch from Take-Two? They don't want anyone taking their profit from GTA IV, so they're doing their best not to talk to EA u...

"Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Morgan Securities, has issued a note to investors forecasting that Grand Theft Auto IV will sell nine million copies worldwide by the end of the fiscal year (October 31, 2008), with six million of those units being Xbox 360 editions. That means that Pachter expects the Xbox 360 version to outsell the PS3 edition by a 2-to-1 ratio."

Just what went into making GTAIV what it is? IGN sits down with Dan Houser of Creative and Aaron Garbut of Rockstar to find out. In their discussion, they cover everything from the shaping of the storyline to relationships to creating the main character.

All in all, this is definitely turning out to be a great game. Will it live up to the hype? We'll have to wait until April 29 to find out...

Well according to a French retailer, YES!.

Why is it he come to this conclusion..? Well over the last week a few images have appeared over the Internet that shows the release schedule of the French retailer and on that schedule you can clearly see that GTA:IV is stated to be released on the Nintendo DS.

Maybe this may be a hoax but as Rockstar have previously released a Gameboy edition, anything is possible.

Thats right, GamePro User's have all chosen Metal Gear Solid 4 as there most anticipated game for the Playstation 3 at the moment with a staggering 57.7% of the vote. Quite incredible that. In second place though follows Gran Turismo 5, third and fourth see the sequels of Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 whilst staggering in for fifth spot is LittleBigPlanet.

In addition to that I assume this is only for Playstation 3 exclusive games as many of you are probably pondering.. Where is GTA:IV! I t...

As seen in the latest Grand Theft Auto IV trailer, "Everyone's A Rat", the Entertainment Software Ratings Board have awarded a "Mature" rating to Rockstar Games' upcoming free roam action sequel. The ESRB content warnings, which could easily be confused with an interesting evening out, include "Use of Drugs and Alcohol", "Partial Nudity" and "Strong Sexual Content".

Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners worldwide will be able to experience the potentially offensive content of Grand Theft Auto ...

The final trailer before Grand Theft Auto IV's release, entitled "Everyone's A Rat", is now available for viewing.

Be sure to check out the hi-definition version of the trailer at the source link below. Grand Theft Auto IV will be reaching Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers worldwide on April 29.

A user over at webshots, pallamallawa, uploaded photos of what appears to be a glossy foldable map from the PS3 version of GTA IV. Even if this is a fake it's pretty darn good.

Unfortunately at the moment webshots or the user has pulled the photos. Interesting to note is that Joystiq has also pulled the images from their post on the subject. Rockstar sending out cease and desists letters? Fortunately Kotaku still has the images (high-res).

Most of you probably know about EA's plans to merge and take over Take-Two Interactive. Well, analysts have been pondering the situation and concluded that EA's plans might just come to fruition in time before GTAIV is released. So, that means that EA might have their name and logo on the GTAIV box-art. Obviously, EA wants Take-Two Interactive to get major profits from GTAIV, but they'll have to act quickly to gain control of the GTA franchise. Will EA get Take Two Interactive in time for GTAIV?

"The paint is automotive grade which should withstand any over zealous cleaning should someone be silly enough to try it, and each one has its own unique production number on it - thus proving its worth. The catch? These special little guys are only being presented to press outlets like other promotional swag in the past, if you want one you will have to get it off eBay in a few years."

Multiplayer in a Grand Theft Auto has been the stuff of dreams for gamers everywhere. Despite the game being released in just a matter of months the info for online multiplayer has still been pretty scarce. But now the floodgates have come flying open as PLAY Magazine preview this online frag fest. Some of the more important details include accessing online through your players phone, details on the different modes and confirmation of character customisation (though to what extent is yet to b...

"It seems like the idea of turning established franchises into MMOs is what everyone is thinking about these days, with the idea being contemplated for Call of Duty by Activision’s CEO and now by Rockstar’s founder. However, I think Grand Theft Auto is much more suited to a massively multiplayer world, and it could make for an insane, awesome game. It may just be an idea right now, but I hope Rockstar decides to pursue it."

We've all probably heard by now that EA wants Take Two. Take Two has kindly refused their offer, and have recently been sued by a shareholder who alleges that the company didn't reveal the takeover bid to shareholders in order to arrange for a better deal, but not before Jack Thompson tried to worm his way into the conflict, to which EA chose to give him a subtle boot to the head.

But apparently EA means business; they've put a deadline on Take Two: April 11, although it could be extende...

The sequel to what game is still unknown which will result us people to execute the process of speculation. During the Take Two conference last night, it's been revealed that Rockstar is planning on releasing a major sequel in 2009. Don't count the downloadable content for GTA IV because that's being released sometime this year. Someone could only wonder what game sequel this could be for? Midnight Club? Manhunt 3?

Or since a Max Payne movie is being produced, do you think Rockstar will cr...

Just in time for the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, Microsoft has created a little advantage for themselves and lowered the prices of all Xbox 360 models in Europe by at least £40.

"Hopefully it will be! According to several games industry sources and UK retailers, all 360 SKU’s will be receiving a €50 price cut (£38.26) on March 14th. A couple of weeks back, Canada saw a similar price drop, with the Elite and Premium SKU’s being cut by $50, and the Arcade being cut by $20.

The most interesting aspect of this price drop is that the Arcade SKU will become cheaper than the Nintendo Wii, according to Amazon, by around £30.

Another day in GTA4 News and it was apparent that this would happen... a whole bunch of Reviews have cropped up for the very much awaited GTA4, and with so many to go to, where do you start? "Take-Two has issued a response to EA’s takeover bid and what they’re saying is pretty straightforward - EA’s offer is inadequate, unsolicited and opportunistic. The way Take-Two sees it is that GTAIV’s release will increase the value of the company, and EA is just trying to take advantage of them and get their hands on the company before that happens."

"- When MS says exclusive, they mean that no other system can have DLC content for GTAIV.

    - It will be bigger than a lot of people think. GTA3 Vice City and San Andreas were basically expansions of GTA3. Think of the DLC that way. We are talking major expansion for GTAIV.

    - No price has been discussed yet. It’s up to Rockstar on whether or not they will charge for it

-If successful, DLC may be the new way to deliver GTA expansions"

I've got not one, not two, but seven new Grand Theft Auto IV screenshots for you to feast your eyes upon. Despite Microsoft paying some hefty money for extra downloadable content, for their players to experience the full GTA experience. More players are still going for the Playstation 3 version as a survey was conducted and the results were shown.

The Xbox 360 bagged 46% of the votes, while the Playstation 3 version bagged 49% of the votes. Yes it's not much but the players aren't getting anything extra on the Playstation 3 but they are still going to purchase that version. The other 6% have s...

"In its GDC keynote extravaganza, Microsoft confirmed that the first downloadable "episode" for GTA IV will be coming this August, exclusively to Xbox 360.

Grand Theft Auto IV: Episode One, as it's being called, is presumably the first in the previously announced two downloadable episodes for Rockstar's sequel. They've been rumoured to have cost Microsoft a fair few pennies too."

GamesMaster hits again, we have 8 brilliantly superb pages of GTA4 scans, with loads of detail. Take a look at the magazine scans attached below, and more can be found at the source.

Here's a bit of breakdown on the information from the magazine scans (typing as I'm reading):

    • If the police are after you, they wont shoot. If they catch up, Niko puts up his hands. If then he decides to leg it, they will open fire.
    • Most missions will have different banters, when you fail a mission and go to...

Rumours were quick to surface when XBOX boss, Don Mattrick initially announced in the Major Nelson's Podcast that GTAIV would have additional content (yeh we know that) and multiplayer available EXCLUSIVELY on the XBOX360....

...What he said sounded a lot "multiplayer mode is only in the XBOX360 version", however it seems that it was nothing more than a badly worded sentence, for Rockstar have been quick to point out, that there is no truth to these rumours and that GTA4 will be multiplaye...

Its no question that GTA4 the highly anticipated Multiplatform game is shaping up to be a huge game, but how well will this sandbox title be. Well Jeronimo Barrera(Rockstar Games Vice President of Product Development) shed light on how big this game will be. He states that

"In many ways it's a bigger leap going from San Andreas to GTA IV than it was going from 2D to 3D...."

It sure looks like it could be just that. Found on the official GTA4 website was a video of what looks like could have been the loading trailer for when the site was loading... why they never used it is another question...

You'll notice in the video that as it pans out it replicates the exact map that is currently shown on the official GTAIV website.

"“We already own it, I believe, from a content standpoint, because we have the exclusive episodes,” trumpeted studio boss Shane Kim before adding that the “Xbox 360 is still going to have the ultimate experience for GTA IV… we have to make sure the customers know that.”

With Microsoft existing as the only console player with exclusive downloadable episodes for Grand Theft Auto IV, Microsoft sees the upcoming launch as a “great opportunity” for the Xbox 360 platform to mirror the developme..."

"How close was this deal to happening? Reporters at Variety (and, I have since learned, other publications) were preparing their stories based on conversations with the studio in question. Internally at Take 2, people were talking about it as a done deal. Then at the last minute, it all fell apart. I'm told Take 2 couldn't finalize terms with the studio, though I'm not sure if it was a purely financial issue or if, in the end, the publisher got cold feet about giving away rights to its baby.

"Current online chatter suggests that Redmond-based Microsoft’s big-dollar edition of Rockstar Games’ upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV will be bolstered by the inclusion of two longevity-friendly downloadable game chapters, which will arrive exclusively on the Xbox 360 platform via the Xbox Live Marketplace.

However, those chapters – while no-doubt tantalising - will supposedly be the sum total of the exclusive content secured by Microsoft’s bank-busting deal, with all other downloadable conten..."

"While noting that Take-Two has enjoyed a 12 percent share boost on the back of GTA IV’s confirmed retail release date, Thompson warns that the market should also factor in "the downside risk coming Take-Two’s way with the sale of this "Mature" game to kids, which is a murder simulator for violence against women, cops, and innocent bystanders…""

"Appearing on the retailer’s official Grand Theft Auto IV product page, two of the fresh screens show Niko, Liberty City’s newest antihero, looking somewhat ominous while clearly engaged in the business of climbing the criminal ladder, while the third involves scrapping cars and looks as though it would be more at home in the Burnout or Need for Speed series."

In an interview with MTV News Jeronimo Barrera states the PS3 is "...partly to blame for the delay." He touches on many things to expect in the game such as romance and violence. There will be no "Hot Coffee" but there will be romance and dating. All straight not bisexual like in "Bully". The game according to Barrera will be as violent as the player desires, leading this reader to conclude we can go easy or create havoc at will. It is a nice article, please see the "source" for the comp...

The Non-disclosure Embargo between various websites and Rockstar has been lifted, and more new has sprawled out about the game than you can imagine. This includes details about the misson (spoilers ahead) and images for the game as well as various previews. "Despite somewhat of a shortage on actual in-game content as the game’s spring 2008 release looms, the industry watchers over at GameDaily have this week taken a closer look at the wealth of new features that Grand Theft Auto IV will place before lead character Niko as he grows accustomed to the possibilities and dangers integral to Liberty City.

Specifically, GameDaily focuses in on the advantage of modern technology – as GTAIV has a present day setting – which will see Niko able to utilis..."

"According to BitBag’s Torrence Davis, a knowledgeable but "unnamed" individual has stepped from the shadowy confines of speculation city in order to tip the (not especially popular) blog that Redmond-based Microsoft will hack another $49 USD from the price of the 20GB Premium Xbox 360 console.

By way of reaction, Davis offers that such a move would be smart considering that "we know millions upon millions of people love the GTA series.""

Hilary Clinton has been an enemy to the Grand Theft Auto franchise and seems that Rockstar has settled their issue's with her by allowing her to be part of it.

Rockstar has said that the prostitute's will look like democratic presidential candidates. After a prostitute has sex with a player, she will say something like "will you still vote for me?" and just before she meets death she would say "Now, I'll never be president!"

So GTA IV doesn't seem to have lost all the funny elements to...

Another tragedy, another Jack Thompson escapade. The two seem to go hand in hand, don't they?

Thompson has filed a lawsuit against Police Chief Warren of the Omaha Police Department regarding the mall shooting because he won't cough up an inventory of items that were seized from the culprit's home via a search warrant.

Of course, Jack didn't do his homework, because Nebraska's state statutes specifically exempt law enforcement investigation files from being released to the public. He ...

Looks like some new screenshots of GTA IV were posted today at JeuxFrench, a French gaming site (rough Babbelfish translation available). GTA IV is set in a re-designed Liberty City, looking an awful like New York City.

The annual Top Ten Vaporware Games of 2007 went up recently, and looking from the list, most of the winning games are PS3 titles--more specifically, PS3 titles that are yet to be released. Well, the rules for this list don't exactly follow the ones of the usual ones. The major one being that the games don't need to have a 2007 release date on it. However, for it to make the list it needs to have attained a certain level of "hype."

And it's no surprise that the No.1 on this list is the much...

Following earlier rumours of even more episodic content for the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar Games have cleared up the confusion over "additional" exclusive downloadable content being made available in 2009.

A representative from Rockstar Games has clarified that while there will still be exclusive downloadable content for Xbox 360 gamers, it will be no more than what was previously announced by Microsoft in May. A single episode will be released in 2008 and another in...

"After repeated questioning regarding a specific release date for the game, a Take-Two executive responded, "We'll announce the date when we're ready to announce the date."

Though Grand Theft Auto IV will arrive at the same time on both platforms, the company noted it will be providing the Xbox 360 version of the game will with additional downloadable content beyond the 2008 fiscal year. This includes the Xbox 360-only DLC previously announced.

The executives also noted that the game has..."

If you've played any of the previous Grand Theft Auto games, then you know that Rockstar Games takes the time to painstakingly detail everything about the different characters in every game. From complicated backgrounds to quirky attitudes, the GTA characters have always stood out and Grand Theft Auto IV, the latest in the series is no exception.

In a recent article on IGN, Rockstar Games gives everyone a sneak peek at some of the major players in Liberty City that you're sure to encounter...

IGN and Rockstar Games talks about some of the new things GTA4 will be packing, as well as how the new story will play itself out compared with the past GTA games.

"The game will have a much broader scope than an actual movie script, and since its much longer than a movie and with the power of the console hardware, there wasn't any need to take any prompts from movies, but let the inspiration from the world itself". - Rockstar

Tired and washed up. Ugly and unappealing. Formulaic and uninspired. Or... Landmark and innovative. Gritty and realistic. Groundbreaking and killer app.

Which description will best fit GTA IV when it (finally) arrives on next-gen consoles? On the strength of its latest trailer, the jury is out.

That's right everyone, the new trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV is available to be watched NOW, so here it is download it or simply watch it in all it's Hi-Def glory, and this is courtesy of GameTrailers.

Tonight Rockstar will be releasing a new trailer that you can view on the official website. No concrete details over what will be shown in the trailer or if it is indeed even that long. However, to wet the lips of the army of gamers ready to turn pimp-druglord-gangsters, Rockstar did release some screenshots yesterday, that can be seen here.

Prepare for the internet to explode, come 8:00pm GMT time.

"As we patiently wait for the Internet to completely explode over the new Grand Theft Auto IV trailer that will go live tomorrow, Rockstar us some new screenshots to keep you from wetting yourselves in anticipation.
In these new shots we see GTA IV's anti-hero Niko Bellic in his natural habitat. Like many New Yorkers (or Liberty City residents, as the case may be), Niko enjoys long jogs, chatting on the phone, and enjoying the various sights of the city. He also enjoys blowing up cars, hangi..."

Rockstar have revealed the box art for GTA IV in style with a fast-forwarded video of a team of professionals painting the new cover on a massive background.

Apparently GTA:IV will not be delayed any further. Last week, Zelnick told a BMO Capital Markets conference that the company was not ready to announce a firm date for GTA:IV. Some people thought he was implying it will be delayed again, but he then announced it will still be released sometime between the beginning of February and the end of April and he "wasn't intending to be newsworthy".

    Well that's a relief. :D

The long awaited GTA IV graffiti advertisement has now been complete. The advertisement doesn't confirm anything new, it only shows a lady licking a lolipop (see for yourself in the screens below). That advertisement has been placed at Greene St & Canal, New York City.

Apparently Rockstar doesn't like it when people make fun of GTA. They come up with lame parodies all the time in the Grand Theft Auto series, but other people can't do the same with GTA? Way to be smart, Rockstar. It's a joke. It's not like they're making a direct reference to the game without paying you for it. Grow up and get a life, seriously.

Today was a day that's meant to go down in history, the day that GTA IV was going to be released. Unfortunately it isn't. Rockstar is one of few company's the delays their games but this time it was an exception yet we still don't know the reasons to why GTA IV was delayed.

"Say "multiplayer" to us, and we think Mario Kart. Goldeneye. Halo. As hard as we may try, we most certainly do not think Grand Theft Auto. OK, GTA II had a limited multiplayer bit, but that was eight years ago, and like we say: limited."

There is some interesting news for all you Grand Theft Auto fans, it seems that Rockstar told GamingExcellence that the Developers were testing the plot of the story. The interesting news is they were considering having completely unlocked map at the start of the game.

Pretty interesting fans can explore the entire city from start without any restraints. And possibly the biggest interesting add on in GTA4 is a Multiplayer mode, which hasn't been seen in the days of GTA2, is aiming for 16 ...

Here are fresh screens for which was the most highly anticipated game of the year GTA IV. Still no sign of gameplay, hopefully Rockstar will talk to us about that soon.

"Halo 3? Oh puh-lease, Bungie’s game is small fry. Or at least, it could look that way by the time Grand Theft Auto IV rolls around next year. That's the view of Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey, who reckons that the Xbox 360 shooter shouldn't get too comfy on its laurels."

Reported by HDGameNews that the 7th installment in the Grand Theft Auto series will be a PS3 Exclusive because Rockstar wants to take full advantage of Cell and Blu-Ray is totally fake. The article continues and supplies us the reasons to why it's wrong. First of all it's because the next Grand Theft Auto will not be the 7th installment in the series and this is also not counting Grand Theft Auto London.

    2. Grand Theft Auto 2

Timing is ripe for rumours, especially with there already being rumours about a big announcement from Sony coming within a fortnight. Well the official playstation website will do nothing but fuel these rumours, though most likely a simple "mistake" in changing the release date, it seems that they have the release date on the site as "October 2007", and the main page of the UK site even says "On The Horizon"... could this be related to the big announcement? Like the title says, I think not, b...

Jack Thompsons seems to think that there is a mission in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV where he is a target. A mission basically based around killing Jack Thompson, that's what he thinks. Since Nico's first mission is to murder a lawyer in GTA IV, Jack Thompson thinks it's him.

Unfortunately what we don't have for the information is the actual scan of the article in question (apart from the front scan of the magazine that is). But here's a quick rundown of the summary that is mentioned in the GamePro article (as can be found at the source):

    • Billboards in the game are for things such as "Shark Credit Cards", "Pirate Music" and "The Whiz" which is the phone used by Nico
    • There IS a minimap, a Low-Key cash counter but don't worry even with the slightly minimalist view...

Games Radar is putting out Grand Theft Auto IV and sharing with everyone the ten reasons why Prototype will be better than GTA IV. Now they aren't saying GTA IV will be a bad game, just that Prototype will be a better game. Go to the source to view all the reasons, but they range from that Prototype is a new game, unlike GTA which has been around for awhile and you get to jump onto helicopters and boarding them, wiping out the pilots instead of of taking over a helicopter in GTA IV in an more...

You thought that the Grand Theft Auto IV wait was long before. According to Amazon.com, you're now going to have to wait until June. Since Rockstar said that GTA IV would be out in early 2008, Gaming Target digs a little deeper into Amazon and finds out what's what with this rumor and how long you'll likely wait.

Daily Game has written an article concerning the Grand Theft Auto IV delay and how it's hurting the Xbox 360, but doing the total opposite to the Playstation 3. They have complied a list of three reasons for this case.

First, Microsoft, trying to draw more attention to the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV, paid $50 million to get that exclusive downloadable content. They were hoping for this content to boost sales during this holiday season, but because of the delay, it won't. Secondly, reflecti...

Games have a tendancy to be set a release date, which is inevitably pushed back. This is true for both Metal Gear Solid 4 (which was set for release this year, and pushed back till next year) and GTA4 (which has been pushed from october to next year), among other titles which have been delayed.

Various reasons have come about as to why the games have gotten delayed, (GTA4 being delayed due to issues with the PS3 anyone...), and usually all the developers say is that they would rather ship...

The delay that has made many fans upset and angry, has also been a saviour for some game developers that no longer have GTAIV to compete with for christmas. Which will obviously mean that they will have more reason to release it before then, and will most likely be getting more notice from you than if GTAIV had released.

    The games ofcourse are:

      1. Bioshock
      2. Army of Two
      3. Lair
      4. Haze
      5. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
      6. Assassin's Creed
      7. Heavenly Sword

It seems the fingers are now pointed at the PS3 for causing the delay of the much anticipated GTA IV. According to the analyst, struggling development of the PS3 version has caused the delay, and the X360 version also has to wait due to a contract that prevents the publisher from releasing it on the 360 first. Are they justified in charging the PS3 for the staggering development of GTA IV?

In a recent email regarding Take-Two's decision to delay Grand Theft Auto IV to next year, Sony Computer Entertainment America's PR chief Dave Karraker explains that while the PlayStation 3 will only stand to benefit from the game's launch whenever it occurs, its temporary absence will not spell trouble for the next-gen platform. That is to say, SCE is not relying on a single game's release to justify the PS3, and the company will be counting on a variety of other game titles to help draw in...

Games Digest didn't believe the reasons Rockstar gave for the delays of Grand Theft Auto IV, so they have come up with six theories why they think it's actually delayed. The first theory is that they don't want the game to be 'overshadowed' by Halo 3. Second, Rockstar is having a hard time with the PS3's Cell processor. Thirdly, they think that they could be making a Wii version. Theory 4 is that Sony bribed Rockstar to delay it so Microsoft wouldn't get a boost during the holidays. Theory 5 ...

"The disappointing news that Grand Theft Auto IV has been delayed until the second quarter of 2008 is bound to dent the incomes of both Microsoft and Sony this year, particularly given the massive potential for Holiday season sales it would have inevitably brought.

However, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter explains that the delay is an even bigger blow to Sony, one that might even force the firm to drop the price of the PS3 a second time in order to compete with its rivals in the comi..."

"In a conference call with investors earlier today, Take-Two execs Strauss Zelnick and Ben Feder explained the company's decision to delay Grand Theft Auto IV for the PLAYSTATION 3 and Xbox 360. Zelnick chalked up the Q2 2008 push back to "almost strictly technological problems... not problems, but challenges." They said they were "highly confident" that the game will ship within its new release window.

Asked whether one console in particular was the root of the problem, Zelnick diplomatic..."

The release date for GTA IV has been pushed back until at least April 2008, possibly May.
Take-Two is reducing its fiscal 2007 guidance primarily to reflect the movement of the launch of Grand Theft Auto IV for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007 to fiscal 2008, due to additional development time required to complete the title. GamePro has come up with 9 reasons why Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV got them hyped up and excited. They say it's a fresh start, it has the best virtual city, there's a rocket launcher, the production values are amazing, new shooting mechanics totally own the game, wicked soundtrack, no stupid cartoonish vibe, there's online multiplayer and that it's from Rockstar North. Go to the source for complete details.

Rockstar Games' hit Grand Theft Auto titles are notorious for attracting more than their fair share of controversy and, rather unsurprisingly, the latest addition to the series is no different. However the unlikely culprit this time around seems to be a feud among the gamers themselves. Ever since Microsoft announced exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV downloadable content for its Xbox 360 video gaming system, rumours have been rife as to whether fans of Sony's PlayStation 3 console will receive a ...

GameSpot experience a day in the life of Niko Bellic as they preview Rockstar Games' forthcoming action sequel, Grand Theft Auto IV. Detailed gameplay information accompanies a handful of new screenshots in this short tour of the highly-anticipated title.

Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers will be able to purchase Grand Theft Auto IV on October 16 in America, with a European release set for October 19.

According to Rockstar that is. In a recent interview with Games Radar, a Rockstar spokesperson let slip that if you want the complete GTA IV experience, you should get the 360. Whether it was a slip of tongue or not, it further goes to show the souring relations between Sony and Rockstar. And it shows that when someone gives you 50 million for exclusive content, the least you could do is to advertise their console for them.

"After waiting for years for the true sequel to one of the most influential games of the past decade, Grand Theft Auto III, we finally got a taste of the future about two months ago. Rockstar Games headed towards the West Coast (a.k.a. the Best Coast) with a very special parcel in tow - a build of Grand Theft Auto IV. While what we saw then was certainly impressive, the presentation parlayed to us was nothing short of a teaser. We never even saw a gun.

This time though, things were differen..."

"Speaking to the gaming websites gather who were gathered at the GTAIV preview event, Rockstar has confirmed that that the PS3 version of GTAIV is a week to two weeks behind the XBOX360’s version.

The demo which was shown is from the Xbox 360 version of the game. The PlayStation 3 version is still “a week or two behind,” according to Rockstar. The build shown is 5 weeks old, and the frame rate has improved considerably since the last demo."

Gamers-Creed has gotten their hands on a German magazine that featured some scans for Grand Theft Auto IV. Check them out and meanwhile, let's see what new information we got.

There will be no more Ammu Nation shops, the girl with the lollipop is named Lola and it hints that she's a prostitute, if you take a cab, it'll take you to what you desire most (hunger=food, hurt=hospital), if the police search you, there will be no cab to transport you and the camera is positioned differently to g...

Was it the money? Was it a misunderstanding? Or was it simply a case of 'My dog ate the PS3 trailer?' No-one really knows, but according to Sony, they sent a request, but no-one replied.

Although SCEA President says there is nothing wrong between Sony and Rockstar, and that they are still working with each other on various other exclusives for PS3, one can only wonder whether it is but an elaborate cover up for souring relations.

The Smaller version of E3 came and went, and what we realised was that there were some big name games missing from the event.

In particular there were 7 games that were missing from E3:

      1. GTA IV
      2. Spore
      3. God of War 3
      4. Rainbow Six
      5. Prince of Persia 4
      6. Peter Jackson's Halo
      7. Final Fantasy XIII
Some obviously aren't surprises, but others certainly are.

Ever wanted to be on the Radio? Now you've got your chance as Rockstar Games are offering you a chance to be the voice of WKTT (We Know The Truth) Talk Radio in the upcoming game, Grand Theft Auto IV for the PS3 and XBOX360. Most of you will have already received the email from Rockstar, but even if you didn't here's the details that you need to know to be in the game.

Before calling in, be sure to read the Terms & Conditions ;)

"During our chat with Sony's head of game development Phil Harrison earlier today EGM's Dan Hsu asked about whether Sony had any plans to combat the exclusive downloadable content headed to the Xbox 360. Here's what he had to say:
"As the head of the [internal Sony] studios it's hard for me to comment on the third party relations, so I don't know the details of that -- we deliberately keep those separate -- but we have a great relationship with Rockstar and we're actually working closely wit..."

Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV was today demonstrated at E3 2007. The five minute gameplay presentation, shown during Take-Two's media briefing, was the first public look of protagonist Niko Bellic in action. While short, the demonstration revealed several key details about the highly anticipated October-bound title.

No video content is available due to event restrictions.

"Last month Rockstar Games announced that it was going to reveal details of the multiplayer mode of Grand Theft Auto IV "soon." However, thanks to the world of magazine exclusivity and the wonders of the Interweb, we've already been able to get our greasy mitts on quite a few snippets of information. Sorry, Rockstar!

According to a preview in the latest issue of Games TM, one multiplayer mode will allow players to face off against one another on the city streets. The catch is that they'll h..."

"Microsoft and Rockstar Games have both suggested the episodic content for Grand Theft Auto IV is exclusive to Xbox 360, but everyone expected it was simply a timed announcement and something was coming to PlayStation 3 -- eventually. That doesn't seem to be the case, however, based on Peter Moore's comments at their E3 press conference"

"Here's a quick list with some of the notes from the article:

    • The cell you saw in the trailer appears to be a big part of the game. Instead of buying weapons at Ammu-Nation you can call "Little Jakob", a caribbean weapon dealer, who will provide you with guns.
    • There is a menswear store called "Perseus"
    • The "Tw@ Café" internet Café from GTA III is back. You can surf the Internet from every computer in the game.
    • You will be able to use taxis to get around. You can watch the drive from the eg...

It's amazing how many titles that went multiplatform since the next-gen consoles arrived. I don't blame them because it'll help their sales, but that can be marked as selfish in Sony's view...as they lose out on some big anticipated games...some that made their PS2 #1.

    Grand Theft Auto IV
    Devil May Cry IV
    Assassin's Creed
    Beautiful Katamari
    Fatal Inertia
    Virtua Fighter 5

"There are plenty of huge next-gen games scheduled for this year, but two are likely to stand head-and-shoulders above all the others- Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV. Therefore, when news breaks on things like exclusive downloadable content for the latter, people take notice very, very quickly. And it wasn't long ago that Microsoft paraded their "exclusive" Xbox 360 GTA IV content in front of the industry, even though some industry insiders still claimed the PS3 version would also have downloa..."

The second trailer for the long awaited GTA4 has now been released, and is available for download directly from files.neo. You can also view the trailer right here on GameGrep courtesy of YouTube...

With the recent news about Microsoft paying $50,000,000 for exclusive add-ons on GTA4 on the XBOX360, it seems that XBOX owners worldwide, will be getting more 'Exclusive GTA4' content. To celebrate the release of the second trailer (in 9 hours time from the time of this article), Xbox 360™ gamers will be able to download exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV theme and gamer pics from Xbox LIVE® Marketplace. The Trailer will also go up on the Marketplace available on 28th June 2007, at 6pm BST.

"For the tiny sum of just $90 (£45 / €67), buyers of this version of the game will also be treated to a duffel bag, a key chain, an art book, a disc featuring music from the game, and a security lock box. Not a bad price at all, and it’s probably worth mentioning that the same gifts come with both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 incarnations."

"Leading up to the trailer premiere, Yahoo! will celebrate Grand Theft Auto IV with special content including an interview with the creators behind one of the most popular video games of all time and exclusive screenshots from the forthcoming game.

"The transcript from an internal Take-2 conference call that was undertaken on June 11th has found its way onto the internet and it includes a rather interesting quote from the company’s Chief Financial Officer, Lainie Goldstein. It reads as follows:

The first 25 (million) is for the first episodic content package that’s supposed to go out and that is in March of ’08. That’s why it moved into current because it’s in the next 12 months. The second 25 (million) will be for the second episodic..."

When Grand Theft Auto IV was first announced, we also heard that the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 would be geaining downloadable content for it. That is not the case. What this report is stating, gives it out plain and clear. The 360 will be the only system getting downloadable content. The Playstation 3 is being left out.

"The 2008 release schedule shows that two episodes are planned to be released for the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV. On the report though there is no news of ...

Rockstar teases the teaser. They sent out an e-mail announcing the second trailer, which may reveal on "the who" whereas the first one focused on "the where."

"Two of of the biggest games due in 2007 are Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV. As luck would have it, they're coming out within a couple weeks of one another - despite what you may have heard to the contrary.

Rumours prompted by an analyst note had it that Rockstar could delay Grand Theft Auto IV until November, but the company has come out today to deny the claims.

We contacted the company for comment and were told that the game is on track for release in "late October".

    Grand Theft..."

It seems that Grand Theft Auto IV could possibly miss its October 16, 2007 release date on the PS3 and Xbox 360 due to a delay. The game is set to launch on October 16, 2007. That has been the release date ever since the next-generation Grand Theft Auto was announced a few months ago for a simultaneous release on the PS3 and Xbox 360. That release date is also just a few weeks before the end of the fiscal year.

Edit: It should be noted that Take 2 itself has yet to make any official announ...

Rockstar are now consider or should I say have already confirmed that GTA IV will be pushed back two weeks so the two game releases don't clash with each other. Halo 3 is set to be released on September 26th while GTA IV on October 19th. As you can see the two release dates are pretty close to each other and Rockstar will be pushing the GTA IV release two weeks back, so the new release date will be sometime at the end of October.

But this is only analyst prediction, so it's not confirmed. ...

Time to take a look into the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV.
I, personally, read the entire story that was written on this subject, and I believe this will, without a doubt, be the best Grand Theft Auto yet. Most of the places in this game are based on modern day cities and such. But with little tweaks throughout. You will notice as you play. If not already posted, I will upload some demos later on. But anyway, to all Rockstar fans, read up on the entire first look review by GameSpo...

"The official story: "We do not comment on rumor or speculation."--Rockstar Games rep.

What we heard: Back in March, Take-Two Interactive's board was ousted by a shareholder revolt. Since then, it has been unclear what the company's new directors have in mind for the mighty--but mighty troubled--publisher. The first hard evidence about what tack Take-Two will take won't surface for 10 days. That's when the New York-based publisher will announce earnings for its second fiscal quarter, which ..."

""Press LB to open trunk." That's what a pop-up command told Official Xbox Magazine as a Rockstar representative approached a vehicle from the rear while demoing the game.

It sounds like a great addition to the game, considering how useful car trunks have proven to be in the world of organized (and disorganized) crime. Bodies, drugs, weapons, bombs, etc. all fit quite nicely.

I can see the ad campaign now:

"GTA IV - What junk is in YOUR trunk?""

"Rockstar released four new screens of GTA IV and they are looking really good. Each screenshot speaks volumes in their own way. The one above for example blew me away by the detail put into Liberty City. Just look at the multiple power lines that are run across the city (which by the way, I recall you can climb up those poles).

From what I can tell from these screenshots, it looks like we're all going to be indoors a lot this fall when GTA IV is released. And that's a good thing."

Microsoft's perseverance in garnering software support for the Xbox 360 has ensured that Rockstar will be releasing Grand Theft Auto IV for the platform, in addition to the PlayStation 3. However, Rockstar admits in a recent interview with Official PlayStation Magazine that porting the game to the Xbox 360 will not be without difficulty, since the developer will be forced to accommodate for multiple hardware configurations inherent to the platform:

"Having spent some time reviewing Rockstar's teaser trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV just to eek out some extra details from the minute long reveal several weeks ago, attention has now turned to analysing additional details about the game itself.

Reports from the US emerged first, confirming the identity of GTA IV's protagonist, the single-city location, and the game's lack of aeroplanes, but now it's the turn of UK-based publications in this instance, PSM UK. In the latest issue, the public..."

Top of the list is the fact that players can fly across Liberty City, although not in planes. "There are no airplanes in the game but flying is still there," he explained. "One means of this is the helicopter. This is just one city and a plane really doesn't fit into that very well for gameplay. Flying is still very much a large part of the game."

"Rockstar has sent out fresh promotional materials for its upcoming crime romp, GTA IV.

First we had the trailer and now we have a large GTA IV pizza box to keep us amused until Rockstar releases further info on the upcoming 360, PS3 game.

Inside the box though, wasn't a family-size pizza with all the trimmings (except anchovies, because that's just wrong) but several other GTA IV-related goodies. The pizza delivery boy (cleverly disguised as your everyday post man) also brought us two ..."

"The secrets are out, the details laid bare, but what do we think about Grand Theft Auto IV's surprising next-gen direction? As we speak, armies of webheads are bashing their keyboards into submission, dissatisfaction writ large in their endlessly knee-jerk forum posts - There's no planes! It's smaller than San Andreas! The lead role isn't an American!

Well, we've banged our heads together in the name of research, and discussed the burning topics that are likely to cause the poor fingers of..."

"The recent trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV portrays Liberty City as looking more like New York City, raising concerns among politicians over the inclusion of their city in a notoriously violent game. So, we investigated the cities of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) to find out which streets were the most dangerous to walk down as a gaming bystander."

Here are five screenshots currently being displayed for the PS3. The images appear to be taking place in a New York City/Liberty City setting.

"The protagonist's name is Niko Bellic - an Eastern European immigrant who has come to Liberty City to live the "American Dream." The game is set in Liberty City in 2007, but it is bigger than the Liberty City we saw in GTA III.

The GTA 4 equivalent of the Statue of Liberty is called the Statue of Happiness, and DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) is known as BOABO (Beneath the Offramp of the Algonquin Bridge Overpass).
In Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar have recreated 4 of the ..."

"When the Grand Theft Auto IV trailer first unspooled last month, there was much debate on whether or not it was set in New York City. The preview clearly showed New York landmarks such as the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. However, frame-by-frame analysis showed a ship registered to Liberty City, the setting of Grand Theft Auto III, as well as the Liberty Tree newspaper featured in that game.

Now, it appears that both theories are right. Leaked scans of the Game Informer'..."
