Countless games tend to go unnoticed or unappreciated. Over the years, many of these titles garner a loyal following of gamers who enjoy them for what they are, and thus cult classics are born. This is part 1 of a 2-part series detailing the top 10 video games to achieve cult status. Stay tuned for part 2!
Gunstar Heroes never gained the popularity that games such as Contra and Metal Slug did. That's strange, considering this shoot 'em up is just as action-packed as those titles. Luckily, gamers can check this gem of a game out on the Virtual Console.
"SEGA Europe has been running a promotion in cooperation with Nintendo this festive season, and here at Electronic Theatre we thought we’d take this time to draw your attention to the fantastic selection of titles available at a reduced price, before it’s too late. Right now on the Virtual Console service for Wii, ten SEGA Mega-Drive releases are available with a 40% price reduction."
Gunstar Heroes came out on the Playstation Store of the Playstation 3 on June 11th. Although the port of the Sega Genesis classic game included online cooperative play, that feature was broken. Unfortunately, Sega may not release a patch to fix the problem.
Though we'd all but confirmed a couple weeks ago the classic action title Gunstar Heroes would be coming to XBLA, today sees the official announcement from publisher Sega. More, we learn the game is due for PSN, too.

But the storyline (that saw its height in Mario 3) was non existent, the controlling was below average, and game play was average compared to all ..."
Hot off of release Ikaruga on the Xbox Live Arcade, legendary development studio Treasure revealed their current plans: two titles for the Wii, according to President Masato Maegawa, in an interview with CNET Japan. Currently, there are no specifics, other than the two games will be 3D titles, instead of their standard 2D. Also, his team is putting the special features of the Wiimote to use.
Treasure is cult video game developer widely known for their sidescrollers, shoot-em-ups, and ove...
