"Let's take step back: it is now November 2001. The internet still isn't big, broadband is a pushing innovation, and that brand new "Xbox" launched from Microsoft. But what did that big, ugly system have that made anyone want it? The PS2 install base was already huge, and Gamecube had launched 3 days before it, setting it at a bad starting point ($300 for a gaming console was quite ridiculous at that time). But something strange happened. Word started getting around of a game on the Xbox that ..."

"Guinness World Records revealed its reader-voted list of the "Top 50 Videogame Series" of all time, with Bungie's flagship franchise Halo taking the number one spot. The company, which tracks and recognizes record-breaking achievements, notes that the series is the "Best-Selling First-Person Shooter (FPS) Franchise Ever", too."

"The Halo franchise on the original Xbox and Xbox 360 is one of the biggest in gaming. It covers not only the successful trilogy of games and two side games (Halo Wars and Halo 3: ODST) but also books, toys, board games, slurpees, animated movies, live-action commercials, and almost a full live-action movie. So where does Bungie take the next project? "Even bigger and better" according to design director Joe Stanten."

"This just popped in from IGN – the source of all reliable gaming news on the net.

We’ve been wondering what the hell has been happening with this, was it dead, would it be made, could it be made, why would it be made, and now our worst fears have been realized, they ‘are’ making a movie about our beloved game franchise.

I certainly hope that they can do it justice . .

You’ll have to check it out though, I’m a bit iffy on it though, while it is early work, I suppose it does show some ..."

"So, when you've got a new computer game to plug what do you? Easy, you trawl the UK to find UK's hottest female Halo fan.

And after a rather vague selection process which just might have involved wandering round a few modelling agencies, Xbox decided on 25-year-old Amanda Johnstone from South London, a girl who likes nothing more than 'being snuggled up in bed with her Xbox controller, playing Halo to help take her away from her daily stresses.' Halo duvet cover and pillow case set natural..."

World renowned machinima series Red vs Blue is back with a new season, following on almost directly from where it left off after mini series Reconstruction. Part 1 has already been uploaded and the gags come quick and fast, you don't need to like Halo to enjoy this entertaining romp.

Halo Wars, Ensemble Studios' upcoming RTS set in the Halo universe, has gone gold and is ready to ship to the factory for duplication. The game is scheduled for a February 27th release in Japan and Europe, while North American gamers will have to suffer until March 3rd. The game chronicles the early battles in the Human-Covenant war.

The Falcon chip was meant to completely eliminate the overheating issues in the Xbox 360. But while the amount of cases has receded CES 09 still demonstrated the problem is far from over. One reporter claims that while playing Halo Wars the machine gave out him. It did not reach a full RROD but still managed a 2 light error.

"During Microsoft's keynote at CES 09, Robbie Bach, President of Entertainment & Devices Division, announced that Halo Wars will hit stores on February 28th, a full week earlier than expected. Apparently he misspoke. It is true that a demo is coming out, though.

The game is still set to hit stores on the original release date of March 3rd. To clear up any other confusion about the release, a spokesperson for Edelman, Microsoft's PR company, just sent over the global release schedule for th..."

The metacritic fanboy war continues. Some time ago, Resistance 2 scores were lowered by 360 fanboys. And then the same has happened to KillZone 2. To get revenge on these 360 fanboys, a large number of PS3 fanboys have got together to lower the score of Halo Wars. They have succeeded, and the score of Halo Wars now resides at 0.8 out of 10.

"Desirai and John are big-time "Halo" players. She games under the name SickNDeHead. He plays as PsychoVandal. They met when she lived in New York and he was in Florida. She'd become Xbox Live friends with his roommate, and they slowly started to play games together, regularly. When he didn't show up online one day during the time they usually played, she sent him a message and her phone number.

"I was drawn to her laugh," John said in a phone interview with MTV News earlier this week. "I h..."

Along with brand new screenshots and the idea that it cannot be brought to the PC, Joystiq got to sit down and try out the first three levels as well as a skirmish mode in Halo Wars. They say everything needed to be said and more after the jump.

""Zero. Never. I'm going to go on the record and say never ever! Microsoft may go and announce it, but I'll say never."

Devine went on to stress that the forthcoming RTS has been designed with console gaming in mind, and that this where the game will stay."

For those who don't know, the Large Hadron Collider is a proton accelerator which scientists hope will help them discover just what exactly happened after the Big Bang occured.

But it seems that the scientists behind the Collider have grown sick of people misplacing their d's and r's and so decided to hold a poll for the public to vote for a new, catchier name. Today the results of said poll were announced and the new name is; "Halo".

Ensemble, the world renowned developers behind the hit series Age of Empires. Will be dissolved by Microsoft on the completion of their current project. Halo Wars. While most of the employees will be forming a new development house the loss of a very old and skilled studio truly is sad.

Farewell Ensemble!

McFarlane Toys today announced details on the upcoming Halo Wars figure sets that are set to be released around the same time as the game. Here are the sets, prices and details.

Another alleged videogame related death. This time involving the popular Xbox shooter Halo. 11 year old Johnson Creek boy Nimm was apparently a big fan of Halo, even taking a liking to firearms after playing the futuristic FPS. While at home skipping school Nimm was apparently trying to imitate moves from the game with his .22 caliber rifle (a common pastime for the child). However he did not obviously grasp that a round could still be loaded in the chamber even when the magazine ejected and ...

"Here’s something to add to all the E3 drama this week about Bungie Studios‘ canceled/postponed/hyped debut of a new game…

In an interview shot for MTV News on Tuesday, Microsoft’s head of Xbox business Don Mattrick, confirmed to me that Bungie is indeed working on a new “Halo” game of some sort for Microsoft.

I had been asking Mattrick about the lack of “Halo” news at E3. He said that Microsoft’s Monday press conference was already loaded with content and so any announcements for that s..."

Halo Wars is certainly starting to gather interest as it takes form, and the latest issue of Gamepro adds some new tidbits of information to add to the pile.

Basically the game is going to be fast, real fast. In fact the developers say you can be in combat within 10 seconds of starting the game (though this is likely a exaggeration) and a list of units confirmed so far is also included.

"Interesting. Halo fans rejoice! According to GamePro's website, the July issue of GamePro outlines some juicy delicious Halo treats: new details, information, and screenshots for the upcoming title, Halo Wars. Feast your eyes on all the exclusive new Halo Wars' details that you can! Certainly we're as ashtonished by 'em as you are, but we're even quite inquisitive to hear about Halo Chronicles. Yup, check the cover again. As some of you might know, the title is one of the working and rumored ..."

Microsoft to release possibly the noisiest, most graphically impressive batch of games — but 'Halo Wars' is nowhere to be found.

Six publishers showcased more than 40 new titles for Microsofts Xbox 360 in San Fransisco and Los Angeles, Gears of War 2 being in the presentation, as well as Fable 2.

However, Halo Wars, a real-time strategy game said to have been released late 2008 had not been confirmed, which means Gears 2 will be the biggest Xbox 360 game this year.

"UPDATE: Microsoft just contacted MTV Multiplayer with an official statement, confirming the prospective hires will work on Peter Jackson’s “Halo” project.

“A Peter Jackson-helmed Halo project was announced at X06 in Barcelona,” said a Microsoft spokesperson. “Since then, Microsoft Game Studios has been hard at work collaborating with Peter Jackson and Bungie on the development of that project. At this time, it’s necessary to grow the internal team to keep pace with development. Bungie will..."

Maybe your a little jealous to hear this, yes? Well two gamers have been spotted playing a game called Sway on their gamertags. Before you go off wondering what "Sway " is, the status message of one of the lucky, lucky GamerTags pretty much gave it away that it's a code name of sorts for the Halo Wars Alpha on Xbox Live.

You can choose to believe the screenshots or not, but if it is true, maybe this means a beta version of the game is on the way.

"Yes, just when you thought you were the ultimate Halo geek, just when you thought there was nothing else that Bungie could whore its first-person behemoth onto, up prances Germany’s favourite three-striped sporting brand with a truly, truly hideous addition to the growing catalogue of Halo merchandise disasters.

A picture is worth a thousand words and, in this case, if we were pushed to submit a thousand-word news article then the vast majority of them would begin with ‘f’ and end with ‘uc..."

"Microsoft has insisted that its forthcoming Halo Wars game is being developed exclusively for the Xbox 360.

Recent rumours have suggested that the real-time strategy game will also be available for PC users when it is released later this year.

However, a spokesperson told IGN: "Halo Wars is being developed from the bottom up for the Xbox 360 and its control scheme to ensure that we deliver a groundbreaking console RTS experience.

"Given that, we have no plans to develop Halo Wars f..."

""I think we’ve got magic in the disc," enthused lead designer Graeme Devine. "We've worked on the controls, gameplay, and story for this game being very much aware of what has gone before us. I was down in playtest yesterday and actually did not get to sit down and play because folks were spending their lunches playing the game. I know we're doing well when that happens.""

A 14 year-old boy, attending a middle school in Wyoming, was suspended for sketches of the popular video game, Halo. Search warrants were assigned to the boy's house, his father's home, and took his computer for evidence. The boy has not been charged with any crimes, however, he did threaten a fellow pupil and he has been seen shooting pigeons with an assault rifle while on his roof.

I think this has truly nothing to do with Halo, but with the danger of the kid hurting someone.

The article creator has a friend who works at Bungie and he submitted the article creator an email saying Bungie is leaving Microsoft and the email also features reasons to why this is happening. It seems that Bungie are basically Microsoft's slaves. Microsoft is not allowing them to work on any other different project that's not to do with the Halo series and Bungie dislikes this. Even though this is still a rumour the article creator also adds that he has full faith with this contact of his.

"Speaking with Bungie at an exclusive Microsoft event this month we were informed that there was no rest for the wicked for the team as they were already beavering away at the next Halo game in the franchise. When questioned whether the game would be a prequel, Bungie remained tight lipped as always but we have a hunch that the game might actually be Halo - The Movie Game (insert movie title prefix here). Either way, it's early days considering many are still tackling the single player of Halo..."

"Welcome to the UGO's World of Halo. This is the realm of Master Chief. Enter and join the epic battle that has been chronicled in video games (including Halo 3, Halo Wars, and beyond) novels (The Fall of Reach and The Flood), comics (The Graphic Novel and Uprising) and the Halo movie."

Once a bastion of PC gaming, the real-time strategy genre looks to be moving ever closer to a genuine home console transition.

The Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth scratched the surface with an interface that 'almost' worked. Then Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars built on those successes with intuitive but not faultless control.

Now Bungie reckons that Halo Wars will be the single game responsible for accurately bringing the RTS experience to console gamers.

A couple of higher ups in Microsoft, Aaron Greenberg and Larry Hyrb confirmed the rumors. The X0 show X07 was canceled for this year. Xbox fans are disappointed because X07 is the show hosted by Microsoft dedicated to the Xbox 360. Last year, X06 had announcements such as Halo Wars, Banjo Kazooie 3, and Splinter Cell Conviction being a 360 exclusive.

"The latest Halo Wars update has been posted on Bungie's website, and it reveals that we'll all finally be able to get a look at the Halo real-time strategy title at this week's E3. And that's "all" as in if you're lucky enough to be invited behind the strictly closed doors of the E3 Business & Media Summit event."

"Proving that you're never too old to play with toys (just hope you never hear editor Stevie let loose his passion for Transformers!), Todd McFarlane Toys has today told Next-Gen that it actively pursued, and secured, the rights to make a new line of action figures based on the Halo videogame franchise."
