"He did, at least, acknowledge publisher Sony's role in Heavy Rain's largely unexpected success. “Publishers in general don't have balls. That's a fact,” he reiterates. “They want a safe bet. They look at what was successful last year, and ask you to do the same. You need to give them reasons to trust you... With a game like Heavy Rain, it comes together very late. If I showed you the alpha of HR, you'd probably kill it and say that it would never happen. Many publishers would have killed that..."

He’s done another game. “It’s a text-based adventure tightly-based on a Youtube video I watched of Heavy Rain,” he says helpfully. You can get it from here. And in a rare moment of fairness, here’s Phill Cameron saying why he dug the hell out of Heavy Rain which is an exciting game for the PS… wait! We’ve been duped! It’s a Trap! EJECT! EJECT!"

Enclosed in each copy of Heavy Rain is a piece of paper you can use to make your own Origami Killer calling card, and the loading screen contains instructions on how to get the job done. It’s a game AND an arts and crafts project! Fancy!"
It's no wonder that the American version of Heavy Rain's cover art copped so much negative feedback from fans and critics alike. The presentation has been cited as "terribly americanised" and I wouldn't disagree. As such, Sony Computer Entertainment America have backflipped and offered the European version to print, as their way of apologising.
Who here likes Limited Edition stuff? Thanks to Kotaku, 10 lucky people will win the limited edition (can there be any more emphasis on the word LIMITED EDITION) "Origami" Edition of the new Playstation 3 exclusive game: Heavy Rain. The "horrific tale of a child murderer" title belongs to Quantic Dream's PS3 exclusive Heavy Rain. Finally, the bouncy, fun kart racer comes from Sega and t..."

"Today the embargo lifted on Heavy Rain reviews and across the web, the game received stunning review scores from top gaming sites. Because of the deserving acclaim, Heavy Rain has taken one retailer’s bestseller list by storm…
It seems as though after reading the rave reviews of Quantic Dream’s PS3 exclusive thriller surrounding the Origami Killer, it may have pushed gamers to go ahead and pre-order the upcoming game, thrusting it to the top of Amazon.com’s bestsellers list."
"Quantic Dream boss Cage told CVG sister publication the Official PlayStation Magazine: "She's fragile, she's vulnerable, she's naked. Okay, now that's out of the way."
He claimed that nothing in Heavy Rain was gratuitous - and that every clothes-less scene had artistic merit.
"The game is not shocking for the sake of being shocking," Cage added. "There's never sex for the sake of sex or gore for the sake of gore. Nothing is gratuitous, and I think everything supports the narrative and e..."
"Someone in Europe has gotten their hands on the Heavy Rain demo. Weighing in at 1.8GBs, the Heavy Rain demo is available to download in Europe, at least according to these images. The demo will offer a short glimpse at the type of experience the game will offer, but the overall title is something truly remarkable. The demo should be available for all those that took part in the 'Four Day Challenge'."
It seems like the infamous reign of mandatory PS3 installs hasn't ended. Lately most games have been able to knock down the file size to 1-2GB but one of the PS3 big titles to release in the new year, Heavy Rain, is going for a whopping 4.2GB's. For many with the newer models, this should would a little problem, but older model owners might need to start deleting some stuff.

Heavy Rain is arguably one of the biggest games of Q1. This analysis of the controversial content is almost 500 words long and details some of the more “graphic” scenes players will face. Here’s just a few of the intense moments in Heavy Rain that made us squeamish reading them.
"It comes in a fancy gatefold cover, treated to make the textured raindrops appear "real", includes a promo code for the game's DLC, some cute (and bloody) little origami and a big fold-out covered in notes, which in the best case will be helpful solving the game's mysteries, worst case will look nice on the wall of a Heavy Rain fan."

"Quantic Dream boss David Cage said that the game's steamy moments were "about real characters doing what adults do when they fall in love".
"There are a couple [of sex scenes], but it's definitely not porn," he said.

Heavy Rain has received a final release date for the UK region. The game will release across the area on February 26th. That is quite a good release date as not much games will be releasing in February, and its just missing the madness that March will bring with its triple A titles being released.
"Famitsu is reporting a February 18th release in Japan, which means a North American release date will surely be around the same time, too. Though Sony America hasn't formally announced a date, it's been assumed it'll be in the opening months of 2010. Hopefully, this means we'll also have a February release date to coincide with the Japanese release."
"Quantic Dreams boss and Heavy Rain director David Cage believes that Heavy Rain is already convincing gamers to purchase a PS3.
Chatting about the narrative-driven title Cage said that the buzz on the Internet forums is that Heavy Rain will help shift a few PS3 consoles.
"This experience should be available exclusively on PlayStation 3, and we want people to buy a PlayStation 3 because of Heavy Rain"."
"Speaking during his Developer Session at today’s Eurogamer Expo in London, Cage was responding to a question from one of the attendees following a demonstration of the game. After a bit of a pause and an audible sigh, Cage said, “Whatever I answer, my answer will be suspicious… Honestly, I don’t think so. I think it had to be on PlayStation 3 for two main reasons: the hardware, the architecture of the PS3 is extremely powerful in the way it is structured. If you make a real PS3 engine, then y..."
With scenes like this in the game, it comes as no surprise that Heavy Rain will be censored in certain regions. According to Heavy Rain executive producer Guillaume de Fondaumiere, they "felt the need to adapt the content to the culture"...
"Playing the game through multiple times, even with the prospect of different endings, is a bad idea according to David Cage.
"I would like people to play it once … because that’s life. Life you can only play once … I would like people to have this experience that way," explains Cage. "I’m fine with [people reloading saves to avoid bad endings], but the right way to enjoy Heavy Rain is really to make one thing because it’s going to be your story. It’s going to be unique to you. It’s really..."
"The development utilizing the QTE with the DualShock 3 / SixAxis is already well established. Cage feels motion controls can break the barrier of a casual experience and would like to use the technology in a more mature manner."
"Quantic Dream founder David Cage has hit out at critics who have said the studio's upcoming PS3 exclusive Heavy Rain is quick time heavy.
Asked to respond to the game's critics at gamescom last week Cage said: "Bullshit! Just bullshit! I mean what's the question? We released Fahrenheit before. People know very well what the kind of balance we're looking for is. The balance is quite similar in Heavy Rain.""
David Cage is in talks with Sony to release DLC for Heavy Rain. They plan on extending the story for the game through DLC. We could see a sequel or even a prequel to the world of Heavy Rain that will expand the story even more. He also revealed that the game has online features, as for what it is we don't know. It most likely would be leaderboards.

Challenge other gamers online; download extra levels and characters - or, in certain cases, continue your game on the go via PSP. With PS3, the game is just the start."
We learned three days ago that throughout E3, the PlayStation Store would be constantly updated. Sony has fulfilled that promise, adding the Uncharted 2 E3 trailer, Final Fantasy VII for the PS1, and tons of other things.
Earlier it was written rumours had been circulating about the Internet that Quantic Dream's epic title Heavy Rain wouldn't be releasing until next year.
Gametrailer's Geoff Keighley has confirmed this to be true, in spite of Sony touting it as the most important title of 2009.
Though Heavy Rain initially was planned to be a sequel to Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy in North America), designer David Cage quickly realized he had "nothing more to say on this story and these characters" and went on a different path.
As such, we can expect Fahrenheit will always be an experience unto itself. Check out the full interview for more -- Cage is always a good read.
"The biggest rumour to hit this week that has some substance behind it is the PS3 Slim; Images surfaced this week of the supposed system on a Chinese manufacturing line, I do have to say that the system looks like a cheap Chinese knock-off that might not totally be up to scratch yet, however the box does look very convincing, too good for a Photoshop job. The new PS3 logo threw me off however, but as it was shown at the end of a trailer the other day it may be true. From the looks of this pict..."
OXCGN writer looks at the future of graphic between the top two heavy-hitters, the PS3 and the Xbox 360.
The former coming into its stride in 2009 will no doubt push Xbox 360 to doing more tweaks in that area, but he asks the question, will it really matter ? Isn't "gameplay" the thing "gamers" look for ?!
Makes for some interesting reading and discussion. So slip on over and check it out.

Even if your character dies in Heavy Rain, you can still continue playing the game. As you can guess, there were tons of questions when this piece of information was revealed.
David Cage, developer of the Adventure game, told CVG that there are save points throughout the game, but begs you not to use them.
In almost every video game there is one main character and he is through out the whole story. If you die, you simply respawn and the story continues with that character. But with Heavy Rain its going to be a little different, if you main girl character dies, she dies for good. That means you have to start as someone else, but the story will keep on going. Just the girl isn't alive anymore.
Videogamer has brought us some brand new information from behind closed doors on Heavy Rain. You all saw the trailer with the murderer trying to kill your character. Well, Quantics David Cage tells what happens if you never got caught. He also explains that there are about 60 different scenerios like that. Many more details below and via the source about the gameplay, controls and some of the story.
For those that don't know, a new trailer for Heavy Rain was shown today at the Games Convention in Leipzing, however it seems that not all were impressed by it. One person in particular - Jesper Sellerberg of the Kezins website, was definitely not impressed.
The biggest reason for the dissapointment? The games use of Quick-time events (QTE's).
Heavy Rain the long anticipated PS3 exclusive showcasing amazing graphics in its trailers is about to be shown to the public at Sony's Leipzig Conference, in game footage at last. We also have 2009 as a release date, so keep an eye on the Sony conference.

Now put on those Sherlock Homes hats!
"On Locations:
"I don't want to do a big free-roaming city like GTA, because the flow of the story will then be hard to control. Nevertheless, I do want to incorporate big sets, with a crowd, heavy populated areas like a mall and a subway are going to be in there. Of course, the gameplay has got to make use of that aspect too."
On Graphics:
"People will be surprised. Internal (Sony's) feedback on graphics has been great. This is going to be a truly next-gen game. But still, we want to do ..."
"Back in 2004, Quantic Dream attempted to lure the star toward Fahrenheit (Xbox, PS2, PC), which led to a meeting that ended with DiCaprio politely declining on the grounds that technology was not at a sufficient level to accurately portray his acting performance.
But time and technology has moved on since then, and Quantic Dream is once again hoping to sign up some of Hollywoods biggest box office stars for its latest PlayStation 3 game, which is presently being produced beneath the worki..."
As many have seen from the "Heavy Rain" tech demonstration done on the PS3 a while back, Quantic Dream is great at motion capture. Well apparently, they have also bought the latest and greatest in Motion Capture for their PS3 exclusive game.
For all those who haven't seen it, here's Heavy Rain:
The deal that Sony and Quantic Dream made about making an exclusive game has been announced. It seems the game is Heavy Rain. Also they say that Sony didn't order them to make this project. Quantic Dream funded it themselves. It also goes on to say that this game will use the power of the ps3 to its fullest. And that its a game only the ps3 can do.
Well this is great news for Sony. If this lives up to what they hope, Sony could be looking at another great game. Also a game to push the sales....
