IL-2: Sturmovik: Birds of Prey

All Age Gaming's Phong Nguyen bring's us the 9th AAG "The Week That Was". In this week's edition he talks about a possible Wii price cut, V8's in Forza 3, God Of War and more!

"On Fate/Unlimited Codes, 411mania writes:

In 2007, French-Bread posted an April Fools' Day joke in which the company announced that it was developing a 2D hand-drawn fighter based on Type Moon's Fate/stay night franchise. Since French-Bread was also responsible for the popular Melty Blood games, many fans were convinced that there was something to the joke, especially considering how good the fake screenshots were. Melty Blood itself was first revealed in an April Fools' Day joke, so there..."

The IL-2 Sturmovik series, which has been treated very well on the PC, is now coming out to console platforms, starting with a demo released on Xbox LIVE. Expect the full version to be out towards the middle of September.

"This is an exciting week because of all the new Dashboard preview but there’s more new items to take a look at on LIVE. The Xbox Summer of Arcades continues for the second week with Marvel VS. Capcom 2 along with some rocking new Rock Band tracks, the Far Cry Fortunes Pack Deal of the Week, Gears of War 2 map packs and more."

Five new screens in today for the latest in "the" flight sim series from Gaijin Entertainment, of X-Blades fame.

This iteration of IL-2 won't be made by 1C as before, but they are publishing it, so that should say something of its final quality, not to mention these lovely screenshots...

Packshots for each version of the game are on the respective profiles below, as well, if you care to take a week. Looking mighty nice!

"505 Games has today announced that Jeremy Soule (known for his works in KOTOR, Oblivion) and Joss Ackland (Lethal Weapon 2) will perform the audio for IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, by 1C Publishing. Soule will be applying his unique talents and compose an exclusive European soundtrack, while Ackland’s momentous, timeless and distinctive tones will result in the backbone of the game's narration in its UK and US version."

The popular PC combat flight-sim series, IL-2 Sturmovik, will be heading to the consoles next year with IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey. The World War II combat sim promises a range of realism settings(though I too believe realistic sims don't work on consoles) and a new graphics engine. There is no word on support for the Ace Combat 6 control stick.
