"One of the big themes of gaming recently is morality. It was squeezed into all sorts of places, but tended to force the player into a pure good or pure evil playthrough of a game, as the strict dichotomy setup between the two didn’t accommodate for the foggier choices people tend to be forced into making in real life. I find the idea an excellent one, though. A game where my decisions affect the world around me in some way inevitably draws me deeper into the narrative as I make the character ..."
"Looking back on everything that came out this year, there’s a lot of stuff I missed; and a lot more stuff that I forgot even came out (Dead Space 2 was this year?!). This was a really good year for gaming, and now I have a lot of games that I’ll have to talk about on The Catch-Up. Like…"

"The holidays are upon us and the biggest games of the year are now releasing on a weekly basis, a rate far too brisk for the average wallet to accommodate. Such a sad truth means that many a game-lover is required to carefully select only a few titles from a smorgasbord of ‘AAA’ games. To some, picking and choosing is literally an agonizing process because the options are highly competitive and all too numerous. I’m sure that many who will read this have asked themselves, “What titles deser..."

"inFAMOUS 2 is a game I’m very much in two minds about. Some things are executed with brilliance and there’s some significant ‘wow, that’s cool’ high-voltage moments packed into the games’ rather robust package, but there’s also a fair share of problems that stop this title from being truly great and lighting a spark in your gaming heart (I’ll stop with the electric puns now – promise)."

Given that no more games get the boot or delayed to 2012, Sony has really lined up a strong library for the coming year which tempted me to create a list. Check out all the titles that are scheduled to hit the shelf in 2011."
While stereotypical characters are still fun and fitting for certain video games, it's nice to recognize characters that go against these stereotypes and make a unique name for themselves.
Gaming is becoming more immersive by the minute it seems, and with the way it's upwardly trending, one can only imagine how much more interactive and customizable gaming will become to cater to everyone's needs individually. While this is a great thing in many ways, it's become evident that the expectation for gameplay and character interaction has risen dramatically in games that offer little to no customization in the first place.
Personally I'm in favour of character change, so long as it is within the context of the story-arc, and that it fits in with thr progression of the character within said game.
OXCGN takes a look at Character Change in games, asking is it a good, or bad thing. We all have our own thoughts on the subject, and they ask you to share those thoughts in a constructive manner.

"Since there are literally hundreds of thousands of games out there, it’s no easy task for lead characters to make a lasting impression on the player. Once in a while however, you'll come across a leader that's different. Somehow, that character manages to set himself apart from the others."
"Until Sucker Punch nailed down the final gameplay and character designs Cole at one point had dreadlocks and was called 'Gear Wolf'. The character also used to ride a trial like motorcycle to get through the city. The other concept for large area city movement was a disk shaped hoverboard. Interesting. Before Cole was finalized he used to wield guns which developed into lightning powers after many redesigns. Sucker Punch showed off some powers which did not make the game including 'Minion Pow..."
"Check out the Latest Trailer for inFAMOUS 2…it is simply electrifying! Despite the fiasco of changing the main character Cole’s appearance, only to shockingly change him back a few months later, everything about the game looks White Hot!"

"Last year, Sucker Punch's InFamous hit the PS3 like a bolt of lightning. A dark and gritty take on the superhero mythos, Cole MacGrath's debut proved to be one of the console's definitive offerings and an inspired take on the subject matter. Naturally, work on a sequel began shortly after the its launch, but E3 footage showing a redesigned Cole divided fans. Taking popular opinion on board, the studio has scrapped the anti-hero's new look and rolled out new gameplay footage that promises to r..."

"One of the things game makers have been trying to do since the start of the industry is find ways to fully immerse gamers into their manufactured worlds. What better way to do that than presenting the player with moral choices to affect the game? The concept is great but for some reason the application usually sucks."
Earlier it was suggested that Cole from inFamous 2 will be redisgned again, and today at Comic-Con it was confirmed that he will be changed back. Check out the brand new video as well that shows a comic cut scene from the game, and also features a much deeper, grumpier Cole voice.
"Uncharted 2's visuals were stunning - so stunning, in fact, that you'd think it would be impossible for a developer to create an open world game that matched Naughty Dog's effort.

"Infamous 2's presentation starts, oddly enough, with the game's director, Nate Fox, practically apologizing for its protagonist's new look, which hasn't been particularly well received by fans. "We read the blogs," he says, before reminding us that the game is, "at the midpoint on a two year journey." It's a statement that doesn't actually commit to anything, but we can infer from it that there's a good chance Cole will be getting his appearance retweaked a bit before the game hits."
The European branch of SCE today revealed the first screens for their highly-anticipated Playstation 3 exclusive sequel, inFamous 2, which is slated for a 2011 release.
"Sony is banking on new technologies and accessories for the PS3 to continue their push forward against the competition. It also doesn't hurt that the 3D on the PS3 can help push 3D HDTVs in the same way it helped push Blu-ray. The VP of Everything, Kevin Butler, was also on hand to bring some laughs and to introduce his PSP sidekick. We digested the press conference over night and look back at the good, the bad, the ugly, and what was missing in the Nintendo's E3 keynote presentation."
inFamous 2 was announced to be on the cover of GameInformer for the month, and now scans have been released. Showing off Cole in a new southern city called New Marias (New Orleans?). As well as cole using metal weapons that have been 'electrified'. But throughout the scans, one can't help but notice the whole new look for cole.
