"To put it lightly, the early days of the Playstation 3 were bleak. An extremely high price combined with a thin game library kept hardware adoption rates low and software adoption rates even lower. In these dark days the PS3 still managed to produce a few glimmers of hope."

"The Playstation 3 is packed with some of the best games that have ever been released and it looks like the library and variety is only getting better. However not every title that hit the PS3 exclusively (North American consoles) smelled like roses. A few games come out here and there that blemished the reputation of the powerful Sony machine. We’ve compiled a list of the worst games exclusive to North American PS3 consoles that you should avoid."

Whether the game was just plain terrible or it just couldn't live up to its expectations, here is the GT Countdown to the top 10 disappointing games of the decade.

"Most of us enjoy gaming whether its casual, hardcore or purely routine. It becomes something which makes for an awesome activity to pass the time and become a favourite past time. It can also make us mildly obsessive as we chat about games to come, research other games and talk smack about some games. It becomes a lifestyle for some of us. By harvesting all the brainpower of the world’s greatest minds, we have managed to discover what it is about gaming that makes us tick."

Music is always a personal thing, and it's hard to say which score is better than another. Especially in games. Some can be created with simple software, others take huge production time and musicians months or years to prepare.

What we do here is look at some of the most "original" soundtracks of this past decade, and see which one our writer puts at the top of his list.

Come check out, share your thoughts.

When Lair was first released, gamers bemoaned the poor Sixaxis controls. However, now that a patch is available (which supposedly remedies these problems), is the game worth picking up after all? TYLERxDURDEN gives his take.

"The Christmas period continues to be a trying time for one or two independent developers - and now a new report this week claims that US independent Factor 5 has closed.

According to a source speaking with IGN's Matt Cassamassina, the studio has shut its doors.

The developer, which worked on games such as Star Wars: Rogue Leader and PS3 game Lair - and was rumoured to be developing a Superman title for now-defunct publisher Brash - was just last week rumoured to have laid off a number o..."

It seems some game companies are really seeing the troubles of the economy. First Free Radical closes down and then Blackbox from EA and now rumors are spreading that Factor 5, the company behind Liar, the rogue squadron games has also been closed down. They where also working on a secret project for the Wii which is rumored to be a PilotWings sequel.

Factor 5 is certainly a hot topic at the moment, in case you didn't know. First there was an employee who voiced their concerns in a blog. These included late payment, poor health care and the scrapping of a long term project. That's not all, he also mentioned people getting the sack... before Santa comes this year.

A new source has come forward to anonymously point out it's all true, though the blogger has since removed the post and left their job. There was said to be 37 people sacked, p...

The much wanted Analogue Control Patch for Lair (which was given fairly low scores since it required you to use the SIXAXIS's tilt) has now been released. With the new update you can now control the in-game dragons using the Analogue stick as opposed to moving the controller in the direction that you want the dragon to turn.

Will this help boost the ratings? Only time will tell...

Also note this is only available for Europe for the time being.

A few weeks ago a document was discovered which was apparently a schedule for PSN content. This list included such items as Warhawk: Operation Broken Mirror (already released), a update for Lair, a Resistance 2 trailer and a mystery item titled Ratchet: Quest for Booty. Due to some digging several of these items have been confirmed and as such the rest of list can be somewhat trusted.

You probably remember Lair, right? It was a big scandal when it came out. It was a highly anticipated title that got horrible reviews. Yet many players said the reviews were wrong and was a great game. The problem that gave Lair such horrible scores was the force use of SIXAXIS. This will no longer be true. A patch will be released in march giving you the option to use the analogs. Will this change many peoples mind about Lair?

It's a decent if not slow sales week for Japan, with some new titles mixed into the top 10 along with some recurring titles. The top seller this week is a new DS game: DS Nishimura Kyotarou Suspense Detective Series: Deadly Intent with 61k units sold. Following it is last week's number one, the PS2 version of Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! Meteor with 47k units sold. Rounding out the top five is Gundam Battle Chronicle (PSP - 28k), Pokémon Mysterious Dungeon: Time Expedition Party (DS - 26k) and...

Last night, an update was added to the Playstation blog, saying that the entire Lair soundtrack would be available on iTunes. The complete album of 26 tracks is available for $9.99 or each track can be purchased for $0.99.

Though the game has gotten overall poor reviews, the soundtrack for this game has won many awards and, in my opinion, is absolutely stunning.

"I guess I just feel that there should be more substance to a review than just kissing up to it and the platform that it is on just because you are die-hard supporters. Maybe they really liked the game, but to be honest, I have a hard time trusting a site that is so blatently pro PS architecture, and that gave Bioshock a 5/10."

Sony evidentally doesn't care about the low review scores being doled out to Lair. Apparently the views of the reviewing community don't count when it comes to assessing quality and whether a game deserves to be a success. Nope, all that matters to Sony are the fanatic consumers who are blinded by the hype and buy the game regardless. Great way to push the envelope, Sony. Nice move.

About a week ago Lair it the shelves with nothing but bad reviews on its back. But then too so many people's shock, you were able to play the game on your PSP via remote play. Then many people started to ask if you will be able yo do this with other games. Sony responds saying that Lair was a "nice start, and that they will add more advanced features" But there might be a problem for some games that require more controls, which the PSP doesn't have.

Sony is refusing to accept the horrible reviews their Playstation 3 game, Lair has been getting and says that it's all about the consumer. They don't care about critics putting down Lair. Instead, they look on the brighter side, accepting the fact that if gamers like it, then that's all that matters. However, will the reviews get to gamers and will Sony's tough stance be useless?

Remember when Gran theft auto: San Andres "hot coffee" code came out. It caused a lot of controversy and many people were upset about what's is going on in video games. Then after that a few games made some spoof's of it, such as JAK X's hot coffee. Now Lair has its own hot coffee code. By inputting code 686F7420636F66666565 (case sensitive) into the game you unlock a secret video. The video is provided on this page.

"Lair has not come out yet for the PS3, but this hotly anticipated game has already be destroyed by most reviewers. Now the development team has come out of their development foxhole, not to necessarily defend their game, but to start pointing fingers and casting blame. The interview they had on MTV's Game File was eye opening to say the least."

"I don't want to suggest that somehow the control magically becomes perfect. It doesn't. But the difference is palpable. I pulled up that infamous first bridge level, and suddenly I was actually able to make the dragon go where he ought to. I can't imagine why this functionality isn't an option. I don't know if it's possible to play through the entire game like this. Certainly some key button features, like lock-on and rage mode, weren't mapped to the buttons on my pad."

"It was somewhere in the neighborhood of my fourth pass over a bridge filled with two warring factions and a bunch of evil rhinos that I went from thinking Lair wasn't that bad to wondering if Lucifer himself pressed this Blu-ray disc in the pits of hell.

See, the time had come for my Asylains to draw up a peace treaty with a group of neighboring bad guys called the Mokai, but when the peace process soured, a huge battle erupted and I -- Rohn, one of the best dragon-riding sky guards around..."

Well those that had at one point hoped that they had made Amazon pay for their mistake in pricing Folklore and Lair at only £14.95 (and that includes me) were unfortunate enough today to be greated with an email in our Inbox.

The gist of the email is simple, Amazon are sorry to inform us that the pricing was incorrectly displayed, and that our orders have effectively been cancelled. *sighs*

EDITOR EDIT: It also seems as though the release date for Folklore has been brought forward by Am...

Given that the Playstation 3 currently doesn't have as many games available as the other consoles, it still does hold a fair bit of games. But are people making the most of the Playstation 3's capabilities? Well it seems that out of the many games that have been released only around 16 games so far are using the Playstation 3's SPE.

Whilst there may be more, the 16 games that are listed below have pretty much been confirmed to be using the PS3's SPE:

  1. Resistance: Fall of Man
  2. Ratchet and Clan...

Many people said "I wont get a Next Gen-Systems due to it's High Priced Machine (especially with the PS3) and the High Priced Games". Well if they didn't get it before, now is definitely the time to get the PS3, especially if you've been even the slightest bit interested in the upcoming Playstation 3 Exclusives Lair & Folklore, the latter for which a demo was shortly released on the Playstation Network.

The reason as to why they should be bought is extremely simple. The price of the two ga...

"If you had missed it, they were the first gaming website to review the game and gave the game very low scores none of which was above a 7 out of 10. According to the latest podcast from them, the sit down and discuss the reviews of the game.

They said motion control was cool.
The ground combat was well done.
No mention of frame rate indicating it was stable.
They liked the epic scope of the game.

We have for you, not one, but two new boxshots for two upcoming games. First of the boxshot we have is for Lair, a game that has been shrouded by bad reviews and delays.

Second, and most probably the most awaited Imsomniac game, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. Still to be given a rating, the colourful boxshot does bring back memories of previous installments of the game.

The delay that has made many fans upset and angry, has also been a saviour for some game developers that no longer have GTAIV to compete with for christmas. Which will obviously mean that they will have more reason to release it before then, and will most likely be getting more notice from you than if GTAIV had released.

The games ofcourse are:

    1. Bioshock
    2. Army of Two
    3. Lair
    4. Haze
    5. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
    6. Assassin's Creed
    7. Heavenly Sword

Lair was announced yesterday that the up and coming feature will be delayed until September 4th and this has brought people into questioning weather they have done this because of a recent poor review that they have received for the game from EGM of 6.0 out of 10, though it did get 9 out of 10 from EGDE and Gamezone.

They go onto state that this would not be the first time this has happened especially for the Playstation 3. They also claim any problems with the Sixasis Motion control will ...

At the EB Games website, it shows that Lair is going to be delayed until September 4th, pushing back from the original August 12th. Gamefly shows more evidence, changing their release date to September 6th. I wonder what could be causing the delay. It's only less than a month, so maybe it's just a little issue that needs fixing. Loot Ninja expects it to get blown away or "overshadowed" if it's true because it's releasing on the same day as Heavely Sword.

Allegedy, two gaming magazines, EDGE and Gamezone, has reviewed Lair for the Playstation 3 and they have both given Lair 9 out of 10. According to this hidden source, they say that the game has a "unique experience". Well, the magazines will be launched in a few days and we'll see if these rumors are true and that Lair is finally getting some good reviews.

You probably heard about the low ratings that Lair got and people milling around and saying that they're rumours, right? Well, they're not. There is a picture confirmation that shows three low ratings by Crispin, G. Ford and Garnett. The ratings show an obvious 6.0, 5.5 and 5.0. You also see a little text. The first paragraph on Crispin's review and you can see under "The Good" it says Graphics.

"Lair has been completed. It has also been dated for release sometime in August. Following the announcement, Factor 5 have released some updated screenshots of the game from what is believed to be the final build of the game and yes they look very beautiful. Check them out yourself after the jump."

"Given all the content and interest here on Lair, I figured you guys would also be interested to hear that the North American version of Lair has completed its development and is now in manufacturing! That means that we are on track for our August 14 release date. It goes without saying that we’re eager to get this out to those of you that have been waiting so patiently (or not!) for it to arrive. Considering the new PS3 price and now Lair, hopefully there’s even more of a reason to scoop up..."

"A new set of screenshots for the upcoming Sony PlayStation 3 exclusive, Lair, have been unearthed today, and they show off a title that seems to be growing in stature and scale every time GamerSquad sees it.

The texture detail, for example, looks massively improved over the last time we saw screenshots. Just check out that ominous tower surrounded by airborne beasts. The lighting is also looking amazing, with depth and realism in the fire effects and shadows. And those plumes of smoke?

"Play TM magazine is the first magazine corp to get their hands on the retail copy of PS3 exclusive game. According to the PLay TM magazine..

So yes, if there’s any doubt left, Lair has come together beautifully

“With its stunning visuals and incredible soundtrack, Lair may well be the single most powerful experience that a man can share with his $5,000 home theatre system.”"

"Sony Computer Entertainment Europe also announced that Lair, which had an initial release date of September 26 of this year has been pushed back for EU.

Gamers anticipating the release of this game will have to wait until October 10, 2007 before they can finally pick this title up. The game will be launching along side Folklore."

Tired of looking at the numerous articles for screenshots and minor updates about a game your interested in? Well if that game is being published by Sony on one of their consoles, then the chances are that they have released new information and screenshots for them. You don't have to go far to look for the information either, as it is indexed below, by platform. These are the images and details about the games coming straight from Sony for E3 2007, so take a look at be sure to discuss the ima...

"With Sony's press conference in the past, we've created a roundup of all the small, but significant, announcements and confirmations. This year, Sony allowed very little time for the audience to ponder and absorb, so a lot of the groundbreaking revelations were not emphasised. This was of course a good thing, as it showed that Sony had a lot of things to say. So aside from the major announcements, such as MGS4, Haze and UT3 exclusivity, here are the other tidbits:

- 200 games on Blu-ray an..."

Here be dragons! While that description of dragon-infested next-gen epic "Lair" is good enough in GamerSquad's eyes, we should perhaps also point out that - in light of Sony's recent comments about Microsoft 'bribing' publishers for exclusivity - it is a 100% PlayStation 3 exclusive. Yay. GamerSquad has a triple-bill of gameplay clips from the fire-breathing adventure.

"You see that date up there my friends? That’s the date that PS3 owners will be looking forward to because not only does it mean the long awaited, highly anticipated Lair comes out, but it also is the date where the PS3 software “drought” officially ends and the good games begin to roll out.

Not only has the release date been revealed today, but also it’s been revealed that we can all expect a Lair demo to hit the Playstation Network sometime in July. Here’s hoping it’d happen near the 4th ..."

"In a world ravaged by endless conflict and natural disaster, a call for peace turns into a bloodbath of betrayal and deceit. Playing as a warrior riding a voracious dragon trained for deadly aerial and ground combat, and capable of scorching, clawing and smashing thousands of enemies, gamers must defeat countless armies to save a civilization. Together, the gamer and the beast will attempt to change the destiny of a world on the brink of extinction. Continue to view screens"

Finally a new dragon game xD The graphics are eye-appealing, and the combat system looks great. I'd like to see how they incoporate the Sixaxis controls, as well. And best yet, it's a PS3 exclusive (they barely have any).

"Factor 5 president and co-founder Julian Eggebrecht has stated in previous interviews that his team's decision to make their upcoming game Lair PlayStation 3 exclusive was based completely on the power of the console and nothing else. Still, even without knowing that, it takes just one brief conversation with Eggebrecht to discover that he and the people he works with are strict devotees of technology. So, it comes as no surprise that, in a recent interview with the San Jose Mercury News, Egg..."

"Julian Eggebrecht
President, Factor5

"The very basic fact is you could not do this engine completely as you see it there on any other system but the PS3.

We've got so much physics running, so much animation running, we've got the levels with 25,000 soldiers where we have to simulate the army combat which is going on the ground. We've got all these dragons being animated of course. To pull off this world scale.

I think it would have been absolutely impossible on any other platform ..."

1up.com had a preview video for the upcoming ps3 game Lair.

"Though Lair has been in the public eye over the past few months thanks to interviews and the occasional batch of new media, new content for the game itself had been hidden away in development since last year's Tokyo Game Show appearance. That was, until Sony and developer Factor 5 blew the doors open at a press event last week, resulting in our first concrete post-TGS update on the game.

Perhaps most newsworthy is that the controls have been adjusted so that players no longer use the PS3 c..."

I’ve known Julian Eggebrecht, president of game developer Factor 5, for quite a while. He’s always eager to talk about the most technical stuff at game conferences such as the Game Developers Conference or the Dice Summit. But I’ve never had a chance to do a sit-down interview with him until now. Eggebrecht, a native of Cologne, Germany, has run Factor 5 for a long time, mostly as a developer of Star Wars games for LucasArts. But with the disappointment of the GameCube, Factor 5 has now branc...

"Two new Lair videos are out, and it's time for you PS3 owners who are stuck at work to extend your lunch break, close your office doors, pull down the blinds, and crank up the volume. We've seen a lot of breathtaking Heavenly Sword pictures, but Lair is the next gen game willing to slam its dragon fist down on the table with lengthy video proof of how impressive it is. The first video above is basically one map that's the size of the entire Shadow of the Colossus game, and you'll see the play..."
