Some of Valve's most popular games are now available for purchase and download via Gamestop's Impulse PC digital download service. This is very rare as Valve has never allowed any of their titles to be published by other digital retailers. These titles include Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, The Orange Box, and Half-Life Complete. Despite these titles being available on Impulse, users will still need to register the games through Valve's Steam service in order to play them. With Impulse...

Tonight is Halloween and if you are finding yourself a little bored with the traditional movies, here are five spooky video games to play in order to honor the Halloween spirit.

Goozernation takes a look at Dead Island and asks, who says zombie games are stale? Gamers aren't tired of zombie games yet. Dead Island pumps new life into this over used cliche. Dead Island's combination of interesting story, RPG elements, fast paced action and co-op play make Dead Island a contender for GOTY.

"Valve's unleashing another piece of campaign action on their Left4Dead 2 with the release of the first Left4Dead's campaign, "Death Toll." It's just in Beta right now, but anyone who has Left4Dead 2 on PC can play through it now, with "a few changes" to the campaign fans know from the first game."

"When Valve told you loyal fans that if you wanted the 'Dead Air' Left 4 Dead 2 DLC you would have to earn it, you didn't back down or quiver in your boots. No, you fans loaded up your shotguns, put on the war paint, stepped up and metaphorically blew the head off of the challenge."

"Valve has announced that they will release the upcoming Left 4 Dead 2 DLC early, but there's a catch. Dead Air will be released on July 22nd if 20,000 people get the "Stream Crossers" achievement on Steam."

THQ made a notable splash recently when they announced some new and exciting developers; the same developers who were behind the Left 4 Dead series. Check out the full story for all the details.

Everybody loves the zombie shooter genre. I say genre because there have been so many titles in the past few years that it can be considered its own genre. Check out the article as we discuss the best of the best.

Valve has just updated new information regarding the next DLC for their hit series, Left 4 Dead. Left 4 Dead 2 will not be receiving any normal campaign, instead this will be the first community made campaign to be officially released by valve on BOTH PC and Xbox 360. If that weren't enough they are also going to port the remaining maps from L4D1 over to L4D2.

Cold Stream is being developed by Mathew Lourdelet, the same man who made another community campaign, "2 Evil Eyes" for L4D2.

"We don’t know what it is about Deep Silver’s Dead Island trailer that keeps drawing us in. We’ve seen a bazillion zombie products before it (like A & E’s brilliant The Walking Dead series and a number of films), but the way that a family on vacation succumbs to the power of the undead is riveting, unsettling…and really sets the mood for the game that’s coming later this year. With that, we’ve decided to dig our way into the hordes of the undead to bring you our top ten favorite zombie games o..."

You heard it right! An upcoming LFD2 DLC will include the final three maps from LFD! All your classic zombie-assaulting gameplay, packaged in that fresh, fresh LFD2 spitter smell.

There's more than that though - click through for details!

"We’ve all read countless “best franchise of all time” lists, and while they’re fun to write and then to argue about, there’s an inherent problem with the “all time” part – you have to consider the 30+ years of gaming history before you get to the modern generation. Heavy hitters like Zelda, Mario, Halo, Warcraft, Metal Gear and GTA are virtually guaranteed a place on the list, so how can there be much room left over for games of right now?

That’s why we’re ousting the old guard and choosin..."

"Developers all over town are SLASHING prices this Halloween - you could say that these games are SO CHEAP IT'S SCARY. (Please don't hurt me...) What I'm trying to say here is that Halloween's an excellent time for the cheap or thrifty to grab something new!"

While we're sort of tired of seeing zombies everywhere, TK-Nation was completely stunned when we found out that there is indeed K-ON character models for Left 4 Dead 2. Enough said, right?

This guide will help you unlock all five of the new achievements that came along with The Sacrifice DLC campaign for Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 on the PC and Xbox 360.

Can't get enough of Valve's Left 4 Dead series? Read this article as Ripten details Left 4 Dead Sacrafice DLC by listing the acheivements and discussing the comic series.

"Valve today announced that their latest DLC, 'The Sacrifice' is due out on October 5th. The downloadable content will be released for Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 at the same time. The sacrifice is a prequel to the previous 'The Passing' which was released earlier this year."

"Valve has announced new additions for the co-op and competitive survival-horror Left 4 Dead series (yes, both of them!). The Sacrifice, currently in development for both L4D and L4D2, can be expected for release on October 5, 2010.

Valve issued the following statement..."

"Valve have released the second part of their four-part comic series concerning the backstories of the four original characters as well as the events of the upcoming DLC of the same name."

Valve has just released the first part of the l4d comic.
This part shows off more of Louis and where he was shortly after the infected hit and will take the survivors from the end of Blood Harvest all the way to just before The Passing.

The other parts will be revealed weekly. Enjoy!

Halo 3: ODST and Left 4 Dead 2 will be re-released in Japan under the Platinum Collection label, which is the Japanese equivalent to Platinum Hits in North America.

"The deals this week are gift card heavy as both Target and Toys R Us are offering gift cards with the purchase of select games for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii. Meanwhile, GameStop kicks off their Power Saver Sale where you can get 10-50% off of select titles and free shipping. And, if you're looking for a new Xbox 360, K-Mart has a pretty good deal on a new Xbox 360 and Transformers: War for Cybertron."

"We here at The Farm have made good on our promise to prepare our reader, err…. readers, with all the tools they need for the upcoming Zombie Apocalypse. That is to say, we scored a major undead blow by snagging an Interview with Dr. Dale Seslick, founder of The School of Survival and self proclaimed guru of Zombology. Along with his Team of Experts, Dr. Dale has been hard at work all across the United Kingdom, training rookies and experienced zombie slayers alike in his unique Seminar: How t..."

"Since the dawn of gaming, players have spent most of their time doing harm to creatures of various sorts. Some of the original games saw you chomping ghosts or blasting invading aliens from the sky. In most games it’s done for some noble or legitimate purpose, i.e. rescuing others or yourself from certain doom, saving the planet from a hostile takeover or foiling a villain’s plans for universal domination. The various minions you might have to defeat in droves over your quest are many and var..."

Left 4 Dead 2 introduced the Mutations a few weeks ago. These was new rules for the multiplayer mode which were supposed to change every week. This first Mutation: Realism Versus meets a huge success. As a consequence and because of a vote, Valve took the decision to transform this Mutation into a permanent mode.

Valve suddenly, and without fanfare, announced a new mutation (game mode) for Left 4 Dead 2 entitled "Realism Versus". It adds the realism rules to the versus multiplayer mode to create an extremely difficult multiplayer experience.

"Left 4 Dead 2 Mutation of the week is: Bleed Out.

This is the first of the weekly Mutations Vavle started on Left 4 Dead 2 multiplayer mode. The Mutations arrived at the same time as the Dlc: The Passing. Bleed Out is applied to the zombie blaster and make your player’s health decreasing slowly over time until you die (not you, your character right?). The game removes all health packs you could have found! These are short, dynamic and intense parties!"

4 great FPS are about to arrive on the Xbox Live Marketplace: Left 4 Dead 2 demo version, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2. For about $30 each you will be able to play huge FPS on your Xbox.

All Age Gaming's John Elliott brings us the 4th developer profile. This fortnight he looks at Left 4 Dead 2 developer VALVE. See inside for a look into the famous first person shooter developer and creator of the Steam software.

"Valve’s Left 4 Dead 2 Dlc: The Passing was released on April 22nd 2010, a few days ago. Left 4 Dead is a successful First Person Shooter which takes place during a zombie pandemic and focuses on 4 survivors fighting to survive. The original L4D2 was released on October 2009. The Passing was highly anticipated by the fans so let’s see if the Dlc could satisfy our expectations."

The Passing DLC for Left 4 Dead 2, which was released today, features a hidden reference to another popular zombie apocalypse video game, Dead Rising.

"Left 4 Dead 2's, The Passing, finally arrives today on the PC and the Xbox 360 from Valve. PC owners get the DLC for free while Xbox 360 owners will have to pay 560 MS Points ($7) to find out what happens when the cast from the original Left 4 Dead cross paths with the cast of Left 4 Dead 2."

"Because of the new Dlc which will be available tomorrow, Left 4 Dead 2 servers are offline for maintenance. If you try to join a match on the Xbox Live you will receive the “Failed No Matched Games Found” message. You will have to wait or to play the single player mode!"

Valve has released five different variations, each featuring a different combination of silhouettes from the original cast in the first game, of the Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing poster.

"Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the first game add-on for its co-operative zombie thriller, Left 4 Dead 2 The Passing, is due for release Thursday, April 22 exclusively for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system and the PC."

Sure, it's a typical Steam sale announcement, but Valve is using the sale to announce the impending release of The Passing, the new DLC that brings three of the original four survivors from Left 4 Dead into contact with the new survivors from L4D2.

Finally some sense in the world of Australian politics, and the high liklihood that the 'controversal' R18+ rating will become a reality in Australia - finally.

And much sooner than many had even thought possible.

It's what happens when people stand up and be counted. Especially with retailers such as GAME, EB Games, online forums, blogs, (both political and private), as well as overall support by 96% of the Australian public all stand up and be counted in order to show their disapprov...

"We’ve only got about five more months before Valve announces Left 4 Dead 3 (and only about ten before they release it).** While Left 4 Dead 2 is wonderful in a million and one ways that more than tickle my fancy, I still have some suggestions that could essentially make for that hallowed “perfect game” all the kids are begging for.

Perfect game maker machine GOOOOOOO!!!"

"If there's one thing Destructoid doesn't do enough of, it's the cataloging and rating of female body parts in a cynical bid to keep the virgins and date rapists interested. Fortunately, we plan to address that with a new series of articles that catalog and rate female body parts in a cynical bid to keep the virgins and date rapists interested. The hits will come flooding in.

So, arses. Everybody loves a good arse, unless they're proctologists who I feel wouldn't want to take their work ho..."

The Passing now has a month set for anticipation, scheduled for release on March his year!
The Passing is a DLC for L4D2 which will feature the previous survivors of L4D in a sort of cameo appearance, where they will (It has been speculated) team up and fight together through a campaign.

The Midnight Riders of Left 4 Dead 2 fame may be hitting a Rock Band near you. With the introduction of Rock Band Network, two of the Midnight Riders' hits, "Midnight Ride" and "One Bad Man" are being used to test the new setup. And whilst this doesn't confirm Smitty, Ox, Dusty, and Jake are heading into the game, one can speculate that it's quite possible.

"My journalism professor is concerned about the violence in modern day videogames, but to be honest, he doesn't know much about gaming. He spoke specifically about the commercials shown during his Sunday football games.

"There's one where there's a zombie's head being sawed off [L4D2] and then another simulating a bloody war against terrorists [MW2]," he said.

He referenced feeling uncomfortable while watching with his young nephew, saying it was shown in the middle of the afternoon and ..."

Alex Hilton asks if gaming needs The Bots brought back into gaming as they once were, especially given the need for families to play games that may include having spots filled that other members of the household can not fill.

Many do not want some 'random's off the net online while playing with the family, so Bots come in very handy in that instance.

Come check out his rather convincing argument, and voice your opinion as well while you are there.

Regardless of who your favourite character is, everyone cannot help but enjoy listening to Ellis' crazy stories (with Keith!). GamesRader talks with Chet Faliszek, main scriptwriter for Valve, and we learn about the process involved in creating the characters and certain aspects of the game, as well as the reasons why Ellis has turned into one of Valve's most loved individuals in the Left 4 Dead series.

Steam has recently released their top 10 sellers for the week of January 17-23rd, and surprisingly the top sellers are actually Pre-Orders. With Mass Effect 2 being released on the 26th of January and being called by Time.com as "the Avatar of video games — except it's better written", it could hardly be surprising.

However Battlefield Bad Company 2 takes the second spot and has only been available for 2 days out of the 7 possible selling days. Although Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 stil...

"Video game developers are always trying to come up with the new gameplay mechanic that will take the industry by storm, something that not only adds to the fun-factor but can be implemented in a way that it becomes revolutionary. Now just because developers are trying to accomplish this feat doesn't mean it always works; today we have a list of the top five video game features that never caught on. Some were just too good to be true, others were dead before they made it out of the test labs. ..."

"The eleventh day of Christmas is upon us and that means it’s time for the eleventh instalment of Electronic Theatre’s The Twelve Games of Christmas series. Every day for the twelve days of Christmas we have been looking back at the very best releases that 2009 has offered to the videogaming industry. Today is the turn of November 2009, arguably the most mouth-watering month of the year due to a glut of much anticipated titles. Electronic Theatre aims to advise you on which games you should be..."

"As 2009 came to a close, we posted a weeklong look at our favorite games of 2009. However, those 40 titles (including the eight we ultimately chose to honor as "The Best of the Best") were far from the only good games released last year. And did our picks match up with the rest of the game industry? But most importantly, what we really wanted to know was which game was truly the best game of 2009."

John Elliott from All Age Gaming has plowed through all the Xbox 360 games that have been released to date and has come up with the Top 10 Games on the Xbox 360. Although there are many great games scheduled to release over the coming months, any of the titles on this list are worthy additions to your collection.

"Like Jack Bauer, Chuck Norris and Neil Patrick Harris rise above the station of mortal men and become legendary, so do some video games. While 2009 was a tough year for the industry, both financially and creatively, that didn't stop a handful of titles from being enshrined into the video game canon."

Through January 2nd Best Buy and BestBuy.com discounted several top-selling games to $39.99 including New Super Mario Bros, Assassin's Creed II, Batman: Arkham Assylum, Left 4 Dead 2 and others.

4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360)

7. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3)
8. Wii Fit Plus (Wii)
9. Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360)
10. The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (DS)"

"In addition to the augmented single player, multiplayer, and co-op it will offer, “The Passing” also drags with it a new “uncommon common” class of zombie as well as a brand new co-op mode of play that has not yet been disclosed. It will also be paired with brand new arenas for use in the various multiplayer avenues of the game."

Ironically, the list dubbed "Ten Games to Cross off Your Child's Gift List" almost certainly contains at least one game that if on ever member of Neoseeker's list this holiday season.

Now while I'm sure the Times *scoff* has their reasons to dislike this list of mostly shooters and questionable ethical decisions, but that's the main draw (at least for most gamers)

Good news for Left 4 Dead 2 gamers because Valve finally release a update to fix those annoying pesky bugs in the game. The patch is available for PC users as of now and Xbox 360 patch will be available shortly.

"By now we're all pretty familiar with the drill for a zombie apocalypse—arm yourself with whatever you can, stay on the move, and try to find some inner peace, 'cause there's probably no cavalry coming and survival rates are slim. But if there's one method of staying alive that consistently works in these countless numbers of improbable doomsday scenarios, it's keeping a group mentality among survivors. Last year's Left 4 Dead took this idea and channeled it into a frantic study in teamwork, ..."

"It's that time of the year (no more major releases are hitting) where each website announces their Game of the Year winners, after weeks of arguing and fighting we finally came up with a list that we think represents the entire year of 2009 gaming on the Xbox 360 system. Check out the full list below and then head to our forums by clicking here to discuss your favorites and whether or not we got the list wrong; hope you all enjoyed the year of gaming as much as we did and we can't wait to see..."

"The new special infected give the game a lot more variety, and keep you from using several of the cheap tricks from the first game. For instance, the new spitter will spit a large pool of acid on the ground that will do exponentially more damage as you sit in it. This helps prevent closet-sitting and spreads out the survivors a bit. The charger rushes at the survivors, grabs the first one he runs into, knocking aside the others, and starts pounding the first guy into the ground. He does a lot..."

All Age Gaming's John Elliott reviews the UNCUT version of Valve's Left 4 Dead 2. Despite the severe editing the game received here in Australia, we obtained an uncut version to review. Read our opinion on the REAL version of Left 4 Dead 2.

Boycotts be damned-Valve's online-petition-inspiring insan-o-zombie slaughterfest Left 4 Dead 2 has sold 2 million copies in two weeks. All the noise and hullabaloo did Valve a world of good, apparently.

Amazon has posted their list of "Cyber Monday" deals and while many of them are repeats from Black Friday, there's still plenty of deals to be had. Some of the games on sale include Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Dragon Age: Origins, Left 4 Dead 2, Need For Speed: Shift, The Beatles: Rock Band, WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2010, a great deal on Tekken 6 and discounts on every recent Guitar Hero title.

"If you don’t grasp the appeal of cutting through the bloodied maws of zombie hordes (I pity you), Left 4 Dead 2 will do little to sway your misguided opinion of the macabre sub-genre. Despite some much-appreciated additions, this is very much the same FPS in a new city, not that I’m complaining by any measure. Four (lucky?) survivors must slog through the infected citizens congesting five scenarios. If you’re looking for a story, that’s about as deep as it gets. L4D2 is a pure action experien..."

"I’ve got friends that say they are “over the zombie fad”. The truth is, zombies have always been an integral part of this society’s horror game and movie industry. I wasn’t impressed with Dead Rising, or the crazy amount of zombie games leading up to it. I liked Resident Evil 4 & 5, but those weren’t exactly zombies, were they? In 2008, Valve finally unleashed a zombie game I was proud to own, although I did have small problems with repetitiveness and shortness in length. These two things we..."

"Ah, marriage. Once a gamer friend, Mr. or Mrs. Couple has now been tied in the bounds of matrimony and you are wondering if you should still get them the same types of games as in years past. Or, maybe, you are married to a non-gamer and are looking for a way to bring them into gaming this holiday season. Also, avid gamers marry other avid gamers and buying a gaming present for a love that has the same interests as yourself can be difficult. Never fear because Spawn Kill’s Holiday Gift Guide ..."

"It’s easy to see that video games make perfect gifts and the best time to shop for those lucky people on your receiving list would be now. With retailers preparing for Black Friday and Cyber Monday as Thanksgiving and Christmas fast approaches, chances are, you’ve already seen some great offers. But let’s not decide on anything just yet. After all, what fun is it to gift-giving if that special gamer doesn’t enjoy it right?"

"Industry politics aside, Left 4 Dead 2 has a lot to live-up to in order to prove it’s worth as a full retail release. Five brand new Campaigns, set in the deep south of the United States and prior to the events of the first title, a new multi-player mode, new Special Infected and the addition of melee weapons are the main improvements suggested to provide Left 4 Dead 2 with the required value, and the modifications to the “director” are obviously prerequisite of asking full retail price. That..."

"Left 4 Dead 2 was released last Tuesday (11/17), a mere one year after the first one, and the level of improvement that Valve has added is pretty impressive. Everything that has been added to the game has been done so to increase the mayhem that your team has to go through. I’ve always been of the opinion that the best times in L4D1 were, ironically, when you were getting beaten to a pulp. You needed to REALLY work together as a team when your team was getting pounced by a hunter, pulled b..."

Could the Midnight Riders be the next survivors for the Left 4 Dead franchise? Some believe so when they see the fake southern rock band posters in the Dark Carnival campaign. The posters include a website, that has actually been registered by Valve! This teaser site is thought to be our clue to who the next survivors may be! So what do you think?

"I can hear what you are saying to yourself right now, and your cheetos are in the second drawer. (Underneath where you keep your silverware.) That's not what you are thinking? Oh. You are questioning my title with outrage and anger. "Why Hamsterfist you are crazy!" There are plenty of great games released this fall, none of which are disappointing. Now who's the lunatic? You, my dear reader are. But the advertisers and game developers thank you for rushing to the defense..."

"The developers of Left 4 Dead really struggled with creating a sequel that was a worthy successor to what many have called the best game of 2009 yet, in many ways Valve’s latest blockbuster, Left 4 Dead 2, is much like the first game. It’s not really surprising since the sequel is on store shelves just a year after the first game took the world by storm. Really, despite a few enhancements, some general tweaks, and better graphics, the game feels more like an expansion of the first game rath..."

"The AI Director that controls Horde activity in response to player actions has received a major overhaul; Valve has promised that the new incarnation will make it more challenging and responsive to players than ever before. The firm has said that safe routes, debris, weather, undead positions and even the time of day can now be adjusted on the fly."

Popular new games this week are: Assassin’s Creed II (Xbox 360, PS3), New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii), Left 4 Dead 2 (PC, Xbox 360), The Sims 3: World Adventures Expansion (PC, Mac), LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP, PC, DS), Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles (Wii), God of War Collection (PS3), Little Big Planet (PSP), Assassin’s Creed II: Discovery (DS, iPhone) and Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines (PSP).

"Hopping straight into L4D2, players should catch a number of differences, with new items and Infected being the most noticeable. Melee weapons are sweeter than you might think, making zombie face-bashing that much more satisfying (beats shoving). Some weapons are more effective and amusing than others; the frying pan is fun to use with its trademark “clang,” but its short range and blunt damage makes it inferior to longer, deadlier weapons like an axe or katana – or “ninja sword,” as Nick cal..."

"Only a few days after Gearbox's Randy Pitchford made comments about how Valve's stubbornness about PS3 development is only an excuse, it seems like Valve's answer to my question of whether they would prove either Randy or HipHopGamer right seems to sadly be the former answer.

CVG recently conducted an interview with Left 4 Dead project lead Chet Faliszek, and he made a comment that no one should ever make in the game industry about ANY community of gamers. This was aimed at the PS3 gamers..."

Here is a comparison video showing the difference between the uncensored version of Left 4 Dead 2 and the censored version that Australians will be recieving...

As you can see, the censored Australian version has been edited so much that it's less gory than even the first game. There is no blood splatter, no gore, no wound detail, no zombie dismemberment or decapitation. Zombies cannot be set on fire and their bodies will disappear from the screen as soon as they touch the ground. Ther...

"Happy holidays everyone! Err…wait a minute. While it does feel like the holidays – thanks no less to Activison’s gift wrapping of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on November 10 – we still have a few weeks to go until Thanksgiving shows up and Black Friday follows. November is going to be a splendid month for gaming for those who are waiting for the holidays to come sooner rather than later. November should literally be called “Squember” since four out of our top five titles turn out to be sequ..."

"Winfrey and Sir Candle commented on the open-ness of the map. “The game is much more open–I’m not sure exactly where to go. Whereas L4D was fairly linear, I find myself not knowing exactly which way to go.” We all agreed that this was a Good Thing™."

One of Left 4 Dead 2's new modes "Realism mode" is showed off through an entire chapter of the campaign Hard Rain. A mode that's supposed to be a better playthrough with teams built on teamwork. Also shows off some of the new additions to this sequel.

G4TV shows off some of the new avatar awards that will be available when playing Left 4 Dead 2. Hopefully this won't be the only game available this holiday season with avatar awards available or we can be sure to see a lot of avatars looking identical.

Damn those OFLC board in Australia. Once again they refuse to give Valve's Left 4 Dead 2 a rating. This will definitely mean gamers down under will be killing zombies without gore or anything.

The leaders of the Left 4 Dead 2 boycott appear to be satisfied with how Valve will be continuing their support of Left 4 Dead and the direction they are taking Left 4 Dead 2. The Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott Steam Community group will be closed this Wednesday.

Yesterday there was a rumor floating around the 'net that Mass Effect 2 would be coming to PS3. EA have confirmed that this is false. They also confirmed that Left 4 Dead 2 also won't be released on PS3.

After initially being refused classification in Australia for being too violent and gory, Left 4 Dead 2 has been approved for sale, albeit in a highly adjusted form.

Decapitation, dead bodies and lots of gore were been removed from the game to allow eligibility for an MA 15+ rating, the highest available to video games in Australia.

After yet another butchered version of a video game being released in Australia maybe the time is finally approaching for a review of game classification. A...

Left 4 Dead 2 has been refused classification in Australia and EA aren't too happy with that, saying that they "believe that adults should have the right to make their own choices when it comes to the content they consume."
Go EA!

"Have you ever asked yourself what if Valve decided to create a Left 4 Dead movie based on Left 4 Dead 2, who would play the lead characters (aka the survivors)? You probably didn’t and we can’t blame you, but I spent a few hours here in the Unigamesity trying to figure out which Holywood stars would best fit the roles of the L4D2 survivors."

"Throughout the course of this past weekend, September 17th – 20th, the Paris Game Festival took place over on the continent, showcasing some of the best games of this year and the hopefuls for 2010. Big name publishers such as Microsoft, Sony, Activision, Electronic Arts, Nintendo and Square Enix were joined by a raft of development studios and accessory manufacturers, each attempting to wow their audience with their latest and greatest releases."

Yesterday we learnt that Left 4 Dead 2 has been banned in Australia. Obviously Valve aren't too pleased with the news, but they were also pretty surprised it even happened.
The least Australians can hope for is a (sigh) censored version of the game hitting their shores.

Did the people working for Australia's Classification Board forget to take their crazy pills? They sure have been banning alot of games recently! According to the OFLC's official website, Left 4 Dead 2 has been refused classification in Australia due to it's 'high impact violence' against 'living humans infected with a rabies-like virus' thus making it unsuitable for minors under the age of 18.
Oddly enough, the game doesn't seem any more graphic than the previous Left 4 Dead game, or the m...

A look at the top five exclusive games coming out this fall for the Xbox 360. If you're excited about the upcoming titles releasing on the Xbox 360 this fall, then this is the list to see.

The two instigators of the L4D2 boycott- Walking_Target and Agent of Chaos have been flown to Valve so they may see the game for themselves. They came away with positive feelings, saying that the game felt tight, and didn't feel rush. Of course, this triggered a backlash from the rest of their brethen.

Remind me to boycott Left 4 Dead 3 when it gets announced.

"It's no secret that Hamsterfist loves Zombies. Zombie movies, zombie books and zombie games, I can't get enough. But how much is too much of a good thing? Well if the product is good, there is no such thing as too much. However there is gluttony of Zombie games heading towards the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and I doubt very much all will be good. Here is a small sample of upcoming zombie games, divided in two different groups. Those that might not be good or even end up gettin..."

We've all heard about the racism controversy that revolved around Resident Evil 5 before it's release. As a result, blogger Willie Jefferson has brought up the question: Is Racism Becoming a Norm in Gaming?

Jefferson ripped into games such as Resident Evil 5, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood and, oddly enough, the upcoming Left 4 Dead 2, claiming that these games all have one thing in common: They're racist in some way or another.

"Eurogamer has announced that twelve of the games industry's biggest publishers have signed up for this year’s Eurogamer Expo. Sony, Microsoft, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft will all bring playable games to the event, along with Eidos, SEGA, Capcom, Konami, 2K Games, Bethesda, Namco Bandai and Deep Silver."

Tonight at 12:30 am, there will be a special on Game Trailers TV on Spike. Valve Corporation, the developers of Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2, and more will be on the spotlight. Very hot topics in today's gaming world are going to be discussed. Namely, Left 4 Dead 2, Left 4 Dead DLC, Half-Life 2: Episode 3, and Counter-Strike 2!

Counter-Strike: Source, and Counter-Strike: 1.6 are the most actively played games on Steam, and a sequel comes as a very exciting topic for PC gamers.

With Valve's newly announced L4D DLC, you'd think it would come with relief. Well, at least for PC users. 360 owners are torn down the middle on whether to invest in the new DLC, or wait until the quick follow-up Left 4 Dead 2 comes out. Many are not expecting this DLC to be compatible with L4D2, so gamers must make a choice.

After Valve's initial fiasco with Left 4 Dead 2's box art in North America, it seems another has popped up in the UK -- apparently the "reverse V" gesture with the palm facing inward shown on the NA cover symbolizes victory, and essentially means "F U" in the UK.

One story of its origins dates back to battles between the French and British; back then captured British archers would have these fingers cut off so they could no longer fire their longbows (nobody said war was pretty). Amusingly...

A gameplay video of the 'Stay Out' level of Left 4 Dead 2 has been released by Valve via Gametrailers, and shows off some solid level design and new features, most notably the abundance of new melee weapons, amongst them a frying pan.

Serious subjects hit The Bender this week. We tackle the three things you see in the title plus the other gaming tidbits that happened this past week. "Valve has lifted the lid on a brand new melee weapon for Left 4 Dead 2, just in time for tomorrow's Ashes kick-off. The zombie-crocking newcomer is a cricket bat, which players will be able to weild viciously and knock the undead for six. Will it be effective? Who knows because Valve is keeping further details under wraps, but the prospect of switch-hitting a zombie in the googlies is certainly something we cannot wait to see."

"It was also stated that the announcement of Left 4 Dead 2 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles last month was not intended to signify the end of Valve’s support for the first title, which is suggested to be set to continue after the release of the second game this November."

According to Valve's Doug Lombardi, a multiplayer demo of Left 4 Dead 2 is on its way shortly. If you're one of the people who've pre-ordered the game, you can get your hands on the early release of the demo. Everybody else will have to wait a bit once it's publicly released.

He also talked about why Valve's releasing a demo for the game. Given the number of people petitioning against it, he felt that a demo would be the best way to show the added content of the game and to convince you to...

Left 4 Dead 2 has become pretty famous in the gaming world for begin a "quick" sequel, but does it really make sense to petition against it? We argue that L4D2 will be worth it's price and even more.

"Reports began airing on Saturday, 20th June 2009, stating that Electronic Arts, the game’s publisher, had listed Left 4 Dead 2 not only for Xbox 360 and PC on their US consumer site, EA.com, but also PS3. The listing has since been removed and the UK site doesn’t even feature the title yet."

While everyone seems more intent on arguing whether the Left 4 Dead 2 is a brilliant sequel or cheap cash in its possible that the game has moved to yet another platform. Upon a close investigation of the game on the official EA website you can find the game listed for PS3 Fall 2009. This isn't a one off mention either, the game is in the PS3 category as well. It's true Valve have made their thoughts known concerning the big black box, but perhaps EA think differently?

"While over 30,000 unappreciative whiners have now joined the "L4D2 Boycott" group on Steam (no, I won't link you there. They don't deserve more visits), a force of actual Valve fans has risen up and begun to fight back via the "L4D2 Enthusiasts" group."

This week's Soapbox has X-Play host Adam Sessler going up against the folks who say Left 4 Dead 2 is a scam on Valve's part.

As always, it's an entertaining watch -- check it at the source.

"How times change, eh? Back in 2004 Valve was the beloved studio bringing us such gaming goodness as Half-Life 2 and Counter Strike: Source. Their innovation and passion was legendary, which continued into 2007 with The Orange Box.

So what’s happened in the last 2 years to make it so controversial?

At the moment, especially post-E3, there seems to be 2 issues sending the fingers of gamers scurrying along their keyboard in internet forums around the world. Let’s handle the most recent one..."

We've all heard about the fast-growing Left 4 Dead 2 boycott group, which has now hit 20,000 members. But Valve isn't worried. They have reasons for the announcing and releasing Left 4 Dead 2 so soon after the first game's release, as well as it's close similarities to the original Left 4 Dead...

"Electronic Arts has today released the first high quality version of the E3 2009 trailer for Valve’s forthcoming Left 4 Dead 2. While many of you will undoubtedly have seen this trailer previously (not least during a broadcast of Microsoft’s Pore-E3 Press Conference), the quality of this video is far and above anything that has been distributed through the internet previously."

"The PC and the 360 are just more straightforward. We can focus on what we want to do, which is make game experiences, instead of sweating bullets over obscure architectural decisions they make with their platform. [...] I didn’t come into this business in the 90s because of some technical fetish. I came in because I wanted to give people experiences that made them have fun."

As the details come out about Valve's reasons behind releasing Left 4 Dead 2 so quickly, it becomes more and more clear that the L4D2 Boycott Group are simply wrong in their position against the game. Cinemablend provides insight.

"Left 4 Dead 2 will apparently use an upgraded version of the AI Director, known as AI Director 2.0, which Valve says will offer a notable improvement in the game’s dynamic gameplay. Procedurally generated weather, enemy populace and even world rules; new pathways and instances."

It's definitely a riot, and there are already noticeable changes at this stage in development, like new Infected and wandering Witches. Expect Left 4 Dead 2 this November on Xbox 360 and PC.

Left 4 Dead 2 was only announced a few days ago, and while many fans are excited for the next installment, many fans are also very disappointed. Since the game was revealed, almost 10,000 people have joined the Steam group "L4D Boycott (NO-L4D2)".

"I still think Left 4 Dead was the best online game released in recent memory. Playing as an infected is just awesome. So I'm very happy to see that Left 4 Dead 2 is coming. It appears to be set in New Orleans. I think many people were already left for dead in that city."
