LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures

LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures

"LEGOs simply never go out of style. Most people who have ever played with the little plastic building blocks will always keep a special place in their heart for the simple toys. Many fans of gaming are also fans of LEGOs, and this is more apparent now than ever before due to the hugely successfully series of LEGO video games based upon staples of pop culture such as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Harry Potter."

"With Traveller's Tales and Warner Bros locking down the rights to create Lego-based video games at least until 2016 and a stable of instant hits released and upcoming titles like Harry Potter on the way, we wanted to look at the licenses we'd most like to see teleported into the popular Lego Universe."

"LEGO Systems and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group has announced a worldwide license agreement for TT Games Publishing to continue developing the highly successful LEGO based videogames across multiple platforms. Operating as part of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, a division of WBHEG, TT Games is the publisher and developer behind the award-winning hit LEGO videogame franchises including, LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Batman: The Videogame and LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, ..."

We've all been itching to figure out what the heck LucasArts' big Monday announcement would be. Well, they've finally revealed it via Twitter with a press release file.

Turns out, the big news is their partnership with Steam, as a part of an ongoing effort to revive classic games under the LucasArts name.

"So, what of the Wii for the future? At Nometet.com we hope that game developers will wise up to what’s good about the Wii, and make a game where you can wave your Wiimote about and make your own moves, where you can use the balance board to shift the centre of gravity of your character, leading to a sweet game not unlike Mirror’s Edge only a lot more advanced. We predict said game will arrive at the same time as the nuclear apolocalypse. Or when people stop worrying about Sarah Palin. The apo..."

Remember this? Well, we still don't know whether it's going to be true or not, but we can now be assured that 2009 is going to have a new Lego game that will "be a surprise" according to a source at Traveller's Tales.
And it is also said that the game won't be Harry Potter.

"It’s Tuesday, 30th December 2008 – the sixth day of Christmas. And that, of course, means it’s time for the sixth instalment in The Twelve Games of Christmas. The NPD Group's hardware and software numbers for the month of June has been released, representing sales for the United States in the five week period of June 1st to July 5th.

This month, there are three notable happenings:

  • Wii overtakes 360 in the United States in Lifetime to Date sales, with 666.7k units sold vs. 219.8k units sold for the 360, bring the Wii's total to 10.9 million units sold in the United States in its 20 months of release.

"Like its predecessor Lego Star Wars, it’s essentially the videogaming equivalent of Tellytubbies; you either love it, or you’re too grown up for your own good. Colourful, cheeky, simple, and mindless, the Lego games are a welcome revival of the 3D platformer genre that has long since swung out of fashion."

Lego Indiana Jones has been on sale for a couple of weeks now. If you're interested in buying it but can't decide whether or not to go ahead, or are merely curious as to what it's like, then check this review out...

"Overall, this is a strong addition to the Lego franchise, it’s not the most difficult game in the world, but it is definitely a lot of fun to play! It does have a couple of camera problems now and then, the game could use a better targeting system, and I found it hard to break objects sitting still sometimes with the whip. The last boss fight seemed to be a little tougher than others; it’s not impossible, just tough. It’s also a rare creature: a family friendly multiplayer 360 game that will ..."

The-minusworld has put together a list of Lego movie video games that they want to see happen, but never will. Their pictures are pretty cool, check 'em out.

List is in the source.

"As expected Metal Gear Solid 4 has rocketed to the top of the All Formats All Prices video game chart, knocking Activision's LEGO Indiana Jones down to No.2 and GTA 4 down to No.3

1: METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS
2: LEGO INDIANA JONES: ORIGINAL ADVENTURES
3: GRAND THEFT AUTO IV
4: MARIO & SONIC AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES
5: DR KAWASHIMA'S BRAIN TRAINING"

In the UK anyway, Lego Indiana Jones: Original Adventures has claimed the number one sales spot, now just in front of Grand Theft Auto IV, which held the position for five weeks.

Worldwide, the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV stands at number four, while four other Wii titles fill the other top 5 spots (Wii Sports at number one, Mario Kart Wii at 2, then Wii Fit and Wii Play).

It's no contest to figure out what the major release this week is: Team Ninja's Ninja Gaiden II for the Xbox 360. Say what you will about the love-him-or-hate-him about the studio head Tomobobu Itagaki, there are many out there waiting for this game.

However, that doesn't mean that there aren't any other good or notable games available; for DS owners, the Atlus USA-published Summon Night: Twin Age makes its way to US shores. Those looking for a racer can check out the Codemasters develop...

Poised for a Summer 2008 release, LEGO Indiana Jones takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the first three films of the series, similar to what LucasArts did with LEGO Star Wars."
