Lost Planet: Extreme Condition

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition

All Age Gaming's John Elliott brings us the 10th developer profile. This time he looks at the Street Fighter and Resident Evil series developer Capcom. See inside for a look into this renowned developer.

"With alien related games slowly slipping away from popularity developers need to start looking into revamping the alien/ action genre that is mostly loved by gamers, but we have seen failures before (yes Fire Warrior and Predator). Lost Planet ticks all the boxes for a superb alien shooter that has moderately plausible online enablement too. Originally a 360 exclusive, Lost Planet found huge success on the 360 and even managed to squeeze an expansion out later on, same with the PC version and..."

This next riveting instalment will offer deeper insight into the world of E.D.N III and the uncertain fate of futur..."

"From “Resident Evil 5” producer Jun Takeuchi’s speech here at the DICE summit, are the 10 Commandments of Capcom Development, rules the he said birthed “Dead Rising” and “Lost Planet.”

After explaining Capcom’s struggles to reach out to the Western market, “Resident Evil 5″ producer Jun Takeuchi proposed that his company has figured out, finally, how to reach North America and Europe. Here are the new rules he said today are helping Capcom become a Japanese studio whose games reso..."

"Capcom's "head of character contents business" Toshihiro Tokumaru was interviewed by his company, and while he talked a bit about the "Resident Evil" franchise and upcoming Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, he made a big reveal about Warner Bros. Pictures' big screen adaptation of Capcom's Lost Planet:

Speaking of "Lost Planet", that project will cost somewhere between 150 and 200 million dollars to make. The producer on the project is Avi Arad, producer of Spider-Man. I think that it..."

In the latest issue of weekly Famitsu, which brought you White Knight Chronicles' release date, comes a new game confirmation: originally slated as arcade-only, the newest Capcom Vs. fighter, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, will make its way to the Wii, releasing in Japan on December 11th.

Tatsunoko is an animation company responsible for popular anime such as Gatchaman, Casshan, and Yatterman. This is the latest Vs. fighting title from Capcom, which will see characters drawn from more of its franc...

David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake, held a Q&A with fans during the Anime Expo, which was hosted in Los Angeles. During the Q&A, Hayter revealed that he is probably going to direct an unannounced action and adventure game and he will also be working on a screenplay for the film version of Lost Planet. Hayter is really looking forward to working on the Lost Planet movie, saying that he appreciates the core of the story.

Expanding on these rumblings of Capcom's upcoming secret projects, the company has said one of them will be 'a surprising take on a next-gen favourite.' Considering this recent interview with Street Fighter IV's producer, I'm betting on Lost Planet. How about you?

Videogamer.com has the list of the ten worst PS3 ports ever, and why they don't like the games. The games were probably good on the other consoles, but just didn't live up to video gaming standards on the PS3 versions.

Here is the list of games.

10. F.E.A.R.
9. Splinter Cell - Double Agent
8. Sonic the Hedgehog
7. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
6. Madden 08
5. Quake Wars
4. Tony Hawk's Project 8
3. Orange Box
2. Lost Planet
1. PES 2008

"When you're done with the single-player game, you can go online and join 16 player battles. People from all over the world can play together. Since the game is not out in Europe yet, I found myself playing with a lot of japanese gamers. I was surprised by the lack of any lag even when my opponents were so far away. Online you have four modes: Elimination, Team Elimination, Post Grab and Fugitive. Nothing new here. Add 16 different stages and 6 item layouts and you have many hours of multi-pla..."

It was reported earlier that Capcom's upcoming port Lost Planet will require a 5GB installation, much like DMC4... however what they didn't mention is the fact the load times on the game are lightning fast thanks to the installation in comparison to the XBOX360 version.

As you may recall DMC4 required 5GB of space to install the game before playing it, for the PS3 version. Well it seems Lost Planet has also taken the same route. Although unlike DMC4, the installation for Lost Planet won't have much on the screen, which may bore some of you for 15-20 minutes. Another sandwich break before playing.
One may ponder why capcom is doing this, will this be standard for all capcom games and will anything beneficial come out of it, lets wait and see.

Just a little under a week ago the PSN demo of Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions was removed from the Playstation Store without explanation. Whatever the cause the demo is back now on US Playstation store and is available to download

Looks like those who are used to the oddness of Lost Technology will be spending even more time showing newbies around and having them exclaim “Ah dude, it looks just like something from Super Mario Bros.!”."

As Capcom expands its influence in the PC gaming market, the company reveals it will make several of its titles available for direct download via Valve Software's Steam online digital distribution platform. Capcom and NVIDIA are set to launch their first playable demo of Lost Planet for the PC. The demo will also take advantage of DX10, on NVIDIA's GeForce 8 series of graphics cards. Grab the demo here. The final release of the game is scheduled for this June 26th. Could this be Capcom's big break in the PC gaming market?

"Ever since its release in January, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition has been a runaway success. The solidly reviewed Xbox 360 title was the best selling game on all non-PC platforms in January, selling over 408,000 copies in the US alone. By the end of February, that tally had shot up to in excess of 527,000 units, according to the latest Figures from the NPD group. To date, the game has topped the 1 million mark sales-wise worldwide.

Now, it appears that Lost Planet will be pulling another..."

Famitsu reports that Capcom's solid Xbox 360 shooter, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, will be coming to PCs. As the game will be made to support the DirectX 10 API, you'll need a Vista-ready machine to run it. This goes against what producer Jun Takeuchi said earlier this year about Lost Planet remaining an Xbox 360 exclusive.

According to a machine translation of Famitsu's article, the game will support a display resolution of up to 2560 x 1600 pixels, and should be ready for a North Am...
