Gamesta.com has all the latest details surrounding Paradox Interactive. The biggest indie publisher will come to Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2012 in San Fransisco with as much as 3 new titles, plus what they had already announced. It's busy times as always for the cult company.
"I bought Magicka when it came out and thoroughly enjoyed it for its sense of humor and unique twist of the Action RPG genre. But the developer, Arrowhead Game Studios just wouldn’t lie back and enjoy their cult following and glowing reviews. Oh no, they had to go and pump out a non-stop stream of downloadable content for their little cliché-busting romp through a magical wonderland. It’s been a little over a year since the game was first released and there are already thirteen DLC packs fo..."
"2011 has been a very well-paced year for gamers. We started out with a couple of hits in January and ended with a major release less than a week before Christmas. My favorites this year include horror, comedy, epic RPG’s, downloadable arcade games, and even a DLC pack from a 2010 game that was so good it deserves just as much honor as the full games. Developers are making great games at a faster rate than anyone can play them all, but here are ten that I thoroughly enjoyed."
The dedicated agents of the U.S. Department of Electronic Entertainment have compiled an exhaustive report on all video game sales for the weekend of December the 16th.
NoobFeed.com continues the Halloween festivities with more ghoulish news on Second Guest, but most of all Paradox Interactive and their continued barrage of content. And did someone mention a live stream and almighty Cthulhu?
Daav from NoobFeed.com gets word of some exclusive content available in the Steam Summer Camp Sale. And to help you get it, there's also a little guide to getting achievements.
"Arrowhead Game Studios’ extremely pop-culture-heavy action adventure title, Magicka, is getting a pretty hefty update today, with many balancing issues, fixes and features all being addressed by the developer. One new addition to get fans roaring are Player Versus Player Modes. Get your keyboard combinations ready, and let those spells rip!"
Default Prime writer Matt Buckley takes a romp through the hilarious, and occasionally sadistic, action-RPG from Arrowhead Game Studios by way of Paradox Interactive.
NoobFeed.com is giving away a bunch of DLC codes for Magicka Vietnam. To get a chance at winning one of these codes, you'll need to sign up and do some stuff, dependable on what your preference is. Check for details on how to win one of these awesome add-ons.
Daav from NoobFeed.com goes back to the Magicka universe to take part in the Vietnam War featuring wacky wizards. While only a DLC, this add-on offers a brand new experience with a twist so insane, only Arrowhead Game Studios could've come up with it. Also, stay tuned for a related giveaway later this week.
"Their press releases are adorable by the way; here’s a taste: “Wizards can try to survive the Caverns, inhabited by more trolls than this website, or try something refreshing and new in the Marshlands: Zombies, the monster that fills a completely untapped niche.”"
The game is an expansion of Magicka, which was launched earlier this year through Steam. Magicka: Vietnam is made up of the strangest mix of two styles: magical beings with elements of the Nordic mythology and the armed conflict between Vietnam and the United States.
"Paradox Entertainment has been a very successful small publishing house. The Swedish publishers had a major hit with Magicka, and in addition to announcing Magicka Vietnam, they also had a slew of new titles to show off. With budget prices, it would be easy to pass these games off as side notes, but underneath the surface they have some real potential."
"No sooner did David and Pat heal from their ailments than Andy and Nick are stricken ill. Yet the whole crew manages to blast through this magickal podcast. When not wizarding in Two Worlds 2, Venetica, Magicka, Rift, or Dragon Age Origins, we talk Killzone 3, Stacking, EVE Online, and discuss what went wrong with Gran Turismo 5's seasonal events.
There's a tiny bit of important gaming news. Later, we answer some user emails pertaining to the upcoming cyberpunk zombie dinosaur game revolut..."
"Magicka's explosive entrance to the multiplayer arena can only be explained by one phenomenon: wizards have been possessed by lemmings. Yes, it's finally happened; we all knew that those little green men would return -- but who knew that it would be in the form of wizards self-destructing on a wildly generic battlefield? Under the visage of Paradox, publisher of successful franchises like Majesty 2 and Warband, our wizard friends saw the top of the Steam sales list in no time.
We fell in l..."
Magicka is a game that has become very popular in the little time since its release lat in January. Check out the full review in the link and find out if you should be picking this up. Cheers!
"The whole BonusEXP crew, one half of which is injured, is here to chat about video games. This week we discuss Magicka, Dead Space 2, Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, Call of Duty Black Ops First Strike Map Pack, Venetica, and Doom 64 for some reason...
We also discuss the latest gaming news, consisting mostly of Namco game announcements, and some brief casual discussion."
"Magicka is a symphony of memes; an orchestra of particle effects; a... who are we kidding? Magicka far-and-away exceeds gaming precedents of humor, mechanics, and squishy mages by imploring users to remove themselves from the fantasy world. The game gives an overused acronym a face, and for the first time in Internet history, "lol" is entirely genuine; yes, Magicka firmly stifles the desire of role-play immersion, and instead replaces it with hysterical, arguably insane wizards on a quest to ..."
"It could be said that Magicka is a large departure from the normal Paradox released title. The standard Paradox game often involves the grand strategy genre, so it’s refreshing that they have tackled the hack and slash genre. Although it suffered through a bumpy development and surprised the world with a stealth release, players can finally band together and experiment with a wide variety of spells."
"Comedy is tough to do in games. You can probably count the number of games that have made you laugh on one three-fingered hand. But games have one advantage over films and books when it comes to making people laugh: the ability to generate funny situations through interactivity. Unscripted hilarity."
Magicka is an upcoming isometric hack-and-slash title where you can team up with friends locally or online to take on hoards of enemies in gameplay inspired by games such as Diablo and Gauntlet. How is the gaming looking so far?
"We've covered Paradox Interactive's upcoming Magicka title extensively since we first caught wind of it, drawn in inexorably by the promises of a dynamic spellcasting system, excellent graphics, and the uproariously clever schemes of their PR department. So we're equally excited to announce to our readers that yes, Paradox is now offering lucky gamers the opportunity to get in on the Magicka closed beta!"
So, Magicka finally has a new video, a release date and a retail price. All good things, really. Unfortunately for flabbergasted TK-Nation's Cassandra Khaw, it took her a while to learn that you should always watch a trailer to its very end.
"I've always had a soft spot for good parodies.
No, not the kind that acts like an impudent, know-it-all kid with no regard for their origins. Those, I could do without especially if it involves close association that could stretch on for days. I'm talking about the kind that offers a respectful nod to the genre even as they're making fun of it, the kind that cam blend both humour and all the qualities that made the genre popular in the first place.
I'm talking about games like Magicka."
"Paradox Interactive has officially announced their presence at this year's Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. GDC '10 marks a particularly momentous occasion for Paradox, as the company will show-off a playable version of their debut console title, Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West, along with a stellar line-up of upcoming PC titles, highlighted by the long awaited Mount & Blade: Warband."
