Daav from NoobFeed.com takes a look back at Mario Kart DS. Was it really as wonderful as people remember or was the focus on a minor alteration a bit overblown? The choice of words might indicate one option. Mario Kart Ds is a good racing game, but is not a prime title, never has been.

Gus Mastrapa of Joystick Division explores how video games permit great evils, connecting Lars Von Trier, Tyler the Creator, Hassan i-Sabbah and video game Nazis along the way.

"Little did hundreds upon hundreds of driving instructors all over the world know, the final years of the twentieth century had ushered in a new breed of young, would-be drivers. They were covetous of speed, their road rage reached startling levels, and they were always on the lookout for items to be acquired while never releasing the gas pedal."

Gran Turismo 5 has finally arrived for PS3 owners, but some racing purists are still convinced that it doesn't belong in the upper tiers of racing games. Here's an interesting list of five racing games that some would argue are actually better.

In 2005, two Mario Kart titles were released for gamers to play. Mario Kart Arcade GP provided all the thrills fans had come to expect from the series and crammed everything that made the series so great into arcades everywhere. That same year, one of the greatest entries in the series was released for the DS.

Well imagine this, something good coming from a video game. Who would'a thought. A kid from Britain was diagnosed with a "lazy eye syndrome", which had to potential to cause blindness if left untreated. To remedy this, the child's doctor prescribed that the kid plays Mario Kart on his DS for two hours every day, while wearing a patch across his strong eye, so that his "lazy eye" could become stronger.

"It's been four full years since the introduction of the Nintendo DS. This dual-screen, touch-screen handheld was a system first received with skepticism when it launched in the US in November of 2004. Over time, it began to prove itself. The dual-screened handheld that had everyone, gamers and developers alike, scratching their heads has become the most popular and most purchased piece of video game hardware.

But it's not on the strength of the hardware alone. The reason why Nintendo's DS ..."

"After battling it out against hundreds of hopefuls from across the country, today 19 year old Josh Stevens from Berkshire is crowned Britain's Best Nintendo Gamer. The final of the first ever Nintendo tournament saw the Berkshire teenager outstrip the competition to take home the prestigious title of Britain's Best Nintendo Gamer, together with a trip for five to the home of Nintendo in Japan, worth £10,000."

YouTube comedy troupe DrCoolSex recently filmed this fun little trailer for a hypothetical Mario Kart movie. To be honest, if this were a real movie I would love to watch it. It gave me a few chuckles...

"It is unfortunate that in the real world, there are certain types of people who just look like sex offenders. Whether they are or not. Peter Jackson, for example, wouldn't look out of place with his trousers round his ankles, running through a nursery and being sick all over himself. Same goes for Geoffrey out of Rainbow. There are certain people that, should it come to light that they've been arrested for some hideous sexual misdemeanor, we wouldn't be surprised. This is why it's so easy for..."

"What? Valentines Day? Again?! Wasn’t there one, like, just last year? Well, yeah, there actually was, but that doesn’t mean you have to get all huffy about it. And it also doesn’t mean that you have to put down your joystick (Ah hur, hur, hur, innuendo), just because your girlfriend/mistress/concubine wants to spend some quality time with you on February 14th. Recent studies, mostly ones I just made up, say that girls actually LIKE to play video games. Even better, many of them would actually..."

James Walker of Binge Gamer is almost at the finish line for the Top Games Lists, now releasing the 2005 list. While the Xbox 360 did see a release during this year, it was at the end of the year and none of the first generation of titles were able to make their way on this list when compared to what the older systems were still pumping out. Including many franchises that we are still playing today.

"It's a common occurrence reviewing Nintendo DS games: the occasional release will feature online support using the established Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service and the Nintendo DS system's inherent Wi-Fi capabilities. To test out the support, we'll hop on the service and try to play a match-up with someone else across the globe just to see how well or poorly the feature's been implemented, checking to see how well the game holds up to the usual internet lag.

To get things going, we'll try..."

"Guess what ramps up the difficulty of any kart race? Ink sprayed into your flippin' eyes. Thanks, Blooper. Ever since those water levels of Super Mario Bros. we have really hated you and your unpredictable swimming stroke, flopping all around like you were caught on an invisible fishing line. And don't get us started on the knocked-up Bloopers that spit out little babies. Just keep your nasty ink off of the race track and out of our faces.

For as much as we appreciate the nearly impenetrab..."

And now they have a brand new half-hour TV show to add to the list: Run & Run Mario Kart DS!

The point of the show is pretty simple. A team of contestants are first interviewed, then must race each other in Mario Kart DS and try to win.

So, it's the week after the holiday season. You know what that means? Sales completely drop all around. Nothing really survived the post-holiday massacre other than this week's top selling game, by a clear long shot.
