In 2005, two Mario Kart titles were released for gamers to play. Mario Kart Arcade GP provided all the thrills fans had come to expect from the series and crammed everything that made the series so great into arcades everywhere. That same year, one of the greatest entries in the series was released for the DS.

A kid from Britain was diagnosed with a "lazy eye syndrome", which had to potential to cause blindness if left untreated. To remedy this, the child's doctor prescribed that the kid plays Mario Kart on his DS for two hours every day, while wearing a patch across his strong eye, so that his "lazy eye" could become stronger.

James Walker of Binge Gamer is almost at the finish line for the Top Games Lists, now releasing the 2005 list. While the Xbox 360 did see a release during this year, it was at the end of the year and none of the first generation of titles were able to make their way on this list when compared to what the older systems were still pumping out. Here is a list of the top 5 video game sales on Amazon, for week 37 in 2008. On the Wii, Mario Kart Wii and Wii fit came out on top for most regions, but beaten by One Piece Unlimited Cruise: Episode 1 in Japan. Japan's caught Pokemon fever once again with the release of the newest Pokemon Ranger game, as shown by the Simple 2000 Software chart, which includes sales from March 17 to 23. Also on this list are some new releases and older favorites, such as Wii Sports, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games.

As mentioned previously, this year Korea has gotten into a Nintendo craze, with everything from Nintendo-themed schooling (see link above), accessories and clothing becoming a daily addition to many Korean lives. And now they have a brand new half-hour TV show to add to the list: Run & Run Mario Kart DS!
The point of the show is pretty simple. A team of contestants are first interviewed, then must race each other in Mario Kart DS and try to win.
So, it's the week after the holiday season. You know what that means? Sales completely drop all around. Nothing really survived the post-holiday massacre other than this week's top selling game, by a clear long shot.
