Medal of Honor: Airborne

Medal of Honor: Airborne

"This is something that someone should tell to EA Games President Frank Gibeau who says that single-player only games should be abandoned in favour of ‘connectivity’ and other things that nobody REALLY needs in order to have a good gaming experience. What he and the rest of the EA Studio heads need to realise is that if you make a good single player game that’s of high quality then it will sell. Look at the first Uncharted, that sold perfectly well and there was no multiplayer or connectivity ..."

"After relaying the company's success in revitalizing the long-abused Need for Speed franchise with this year's well-received Need for Speed: Shift during this afternoon's Q2 conference call, EA Games label president Frank Gibeau revealed, "In the months ahead, you'll hear more about our plans to revitalize core IP, including the Medal of Honor franchise."

The long-established war series – whose Allied Assault team led to the creation of Infinity Ward and the now dominant Call of Duty serie..."

GameInformer, the popular magazine about all things gaming that has somewhere near three million subscribers, always has a different game on the cover each time. MTV wanted to see if there was a GI cover curse, so they looked back into the past and pulled out magazines from 2-3 years ago.

One game titled Superman Returns didn't so well, receiving 6/10's. That's nothing compared to Fear and Respect, which was at one point on a GI cover, but ended up being canceled!

All in all, the game...

Last week, I got off easy; I got away with only putting four of that pretty large list of notables in the title. With the games releasing this week, it looks like that's not possible. This is how you know it's the holidays.

That said, there are plenty of good games that came out last week, coming out this week, and will come out in the upcoming weeks. Console allegiances be damned; we're all gamers, and let's enjoy all these games. Defense Forces need not apply. Support good games!

"The first-person shooter genre has been nothing if not well represented this year. Today, release dates were confirmed for two more entries in the genre to hit retail shelves before the year runs its course.

Activision has announced Soldier of Fortune: Payback has gone gold and will arrive on the Xbox 360 and PC on November 13, with the PlayStation 3 version following a week later on November 20. Also trailing its Xbox 360 and PC counterparts, EA's Medal of Honor: Airborne has wrapped deve..."

Does the stale WWII first-person shooter genre truly have enough room for yet another bullet-riddled tour of duty?

The Call of Duty developers have moved their series into modern times, but EA has chosen to remain in the 1940s with Medal of Honor: Airborne.

Will the new open, non-linear, and sandbox gameplay approach work for Airborne, or will it find itself grounded by bad weather that arrives in the form of crappy review scores? Find out with GamerSquad.

The Medal of Honor: Airborne Demo was released on the Xbox Live Marketplace recently, so how does it hold up?

Well, not so good. The game plays like any other generic WWII shooter, and the paratrooper aspect of the game isn't as exciting as it was made out to be. There is a lot of work that would need to be done to make this game stand out more. Go to the source to see what issues hinder the game experience and what new additions make it a bit more exciting.

"The release date for the Medal of Honor: Airborne Demo has been officially revealed. On August 23rd, those 360 owners who still haven’t tired of the WWII genre or are looking for an added twist on it can download the demo over the Marketplace. If you rather shoot Nazi’s with your mouse and keyboard, you can head on over to the official site and download it there on the 23rd too.

What a crazy month for demos…"

"Much like the shark, cockroaches, and AC/DC, World War II first-person shooters haven't evolved much over the years. But for Medal Of Honor: Airborne, the latest in the series that started the genre, the developers at Electronic Arts have added a new wrinkle -- players parachuting into an open battlefield -- and it's not only impacting the single-player portion of the game, but the multiplayer as well, as we found out when we played the latter at EA's offices in Playa Vista, California.

"An esteemed composer for numerous film and TV projects such as “Lost”, “Alias,” M:i:III (2007), The Incredibles (2004), and most recently Ratatouille (2007), Giacchino has been repeatedly recognized for his contributions to theatrical composition and score"

"With the "start anywhere" feature in Medal of Honor: Airborne, you no longer fade up from black or out of a cut scene at the start of a level. Nor do you run along a rail to the final objective; you choose where to begin your experience. Even more importantly, if you are curious about what might have happened had you started somewhere else in the operation, you can jump again and choose a new starting location…and again, and again, and again. Personally, I've played some of our levels hundred..."

"Medal of Honor: Airborne, the next entry in the long-running WWII shooter series, takes players to the skies, straps a parachute to their backs, and drops them into enemy territory. Today EA announced when we'll be taking the plunge: August 28, 2007.

Airborne is a bit of a departure from most WWII shooters, with players jumping into each operation. Luckily, we've got about four months to take those sky diving lessons.
