After years of flogging a dead horse, Capcom finally seems to have given up on the Mega Man series but do the older classics still hold up today? Going back to a game 20 years later is never an easier thing.

Nintendo released Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link a year after the successful The Legend of Zelda charmed NES players everywhere. Unlike the top-down adventure of the first game, Zelda 2 focused on side-scrolling areas linked by an overworld, a-la Final Fantasy. Borrowing from RPGs didn’t stop there, though, as the game also incorporated a level system, spells, and a focus on towns and talking to people, who were often pretty vague, if not entirely useless. ..."
"I doubt Iron Forge Press will sell any prints or merchandise (e.g. shirts, hoodies, mousepads) based on the art due to licensing issues, but perhaps someone around Fort Lauderdale had the foresight to gather up these posters after the show to sell on eBay?

"Mega Man 2: the seminal favorite amongst hardcore Mega Man fans. Perhaps because of a claim that it has the best music, but arguing over which Mega Man game has the best MIDI techno music is, to me, like arguing over your favorite patch of grass to mow. On the upside, Mega Man 2 shines brightly in comparison to its less Mega predecessor."
After having some pretty good releases last month in both quality and quantity, Japan's VC fare for August seems a bit dialed back. There are some definite gems, but there's nothing really groundbreaking. Also included is Japan's update for next Tuesday, the last update of July.
