It had to happen, with EA recently announcing sequels to pretty much all their franchises which debuted this year Pandemic have gone down a similar route. With John Riccitiello of the company saying there will be a Mercenaries 3. However he adds, that they won't stop there but take the series up to 10 he if has anything to do with it.
"Turns out that the rumors were true! Barack Obama and Sarah Palin are indeed coming to Mercenaries 2: World in Flames as playable characters in an upcoming update.
Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb revealed the news just moments ago on X-Play in the Gaming Update.
Tom Stratton of Pandemic Studios gave the following statement to X-Play:

Going multiplatform is usually a tempting idea for developers. For just a few weeks porting and changing the game for the system you can often double your profits. If done right more gamers get to experience the game and have it optimised for their system.

Electronic Arts has come under fire for a publicity stunt in London when it gave away £20,000 of free fuel to promote Mercenaries 2: World in Flames launch. The Finsbury Park area was thrown into chaos as motorists swarmed on the petrol station for their £40 of free fuel.
CESA has released a first list of games [PDF] that will be shown at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show that will be held from October 9, 2008 to October 12, 2008. As per tradition, this is only the first of multiple lists that will be released by the organization for the games that will appear at TGS 2008.
