"While the women in fighting games tend to get the most attention for being considered "sexy", their cousins in the action genre are out shooting it up and exploring boundaries well beyond the confines of a ring. Just because these characters are rendered in more than bikinis doesn't mean they're not sexy.
The action genre has been dominated by male characters since the creation of gaming. But there have been a few exceptions to the rule of sexes. And of course, these female exceptions have..."
"The final product is astounding, the look, feel & sound of a Metal Gear product is all there. Despite the lack of a true blockbuster feel, you know the kind that costs around $40,000,00, Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy is the greatest fan made movie I have ever seen. I strongly urge you to watch this, and then get over to the comment section and tell them what a great job they did. It has taken years, literally, but they kept at it and now it’s done."
There are things you should never do when playing online, and I'm not talking about the guy who leaves his mic on when listening to music. I'm referring to stupid and obvious things that you should never do, Team Killing is one but I'm not saying I've never done it as accidents happen when you're throwing grenades. Here is just four things you should and should never do in MGO. These are kinda generic but, trust me in my full year veterenship of MGO, they're are plenty who don't even do these.

"Metal Gear Online fans will be able to pre-purchase the SCENE Expansion from March 10th. Those who pre-order will receive an exclusive Cardboard Box Man head gear for use in the game. The new Expansion Pack can be purchased from the games built-in MGO Shop."
Metal Gear Solid 4 and its counterpart Metal Gear Online has received a load of support since its launch, several podcasts, new songs and camo's, even two multiplayer expansion packs. One thing it is lacking however is trophies, one thing many fans have called for considering the already trophy like nature of the emblems. Brandon Laurino (a member of Konami online) has recently commented on trophyPlaystation.Blog that Konami have heard pleas for the trophies and are considering the possibilit...
The trailer for the new Metal Gear Online expansion pack, labeled SCENE has been released on the Japanese PSN, and has been faithfully uploaded. As anyone knows by now, Konami know how to make a damn good trailer and this one is no exception. New skills are present like counter CQC and distractions. New characters available with Raiden, Vamp and Haven Troopers all making an appearance. New gear including suits and bikini's. And three brand new maps, one even featuring water combat.
Many MGS4 characters have served as special characters in Metal Gear Online. We had Snake with his Octocamo, Meryl and Akiba with their leadership and explosive specialties, Liquid with his SOP, Mei Ling with her artillery and now finally Vamp and Raiden, no doubt with their kickass sword and knife skills. The latest expansion pack labeled SCENE is not only going to feature both classic characters, but also three new maps to duke it out on, the release date has been confirmed as March for Nor...

"In a recent statement, Konami Customer Service revealed that it has taken action against 113 individuals accused of cheating in Metal Gear Online.
quote"Konami has a firm policy regarding cheating in Metal Gear Online. It will not be tolerated. In keeping with this position, we have taken action against 113 accounts participating in prohibited behavior.
The role of the gaming community in keeping Metal Gear Online free of this type of activity cannot be overstated. You are the first lin...
"Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has unveiled a new team-based game mode for its Metal Gear Online title. The new mode is available to all users of Metal Gear Online and adds a clever new way to enjoy the game. In Bomb Mission, teams are charged with destroying or protecting an area on the game Map."
Konami are still trying to bring new players into the MGO fold, no doubt trying to boost numbers since several new hit multiplayer games have stolen part of their fanbase. There most recent attempt is the Welcome Rookie Campaign, which promises a free 5000 Reward point bonus and codec pack for those who sign up now. Not much else to say really, beside me feeling slightly jipped at newbs getting content for free I had to pay for.
A free limited demo of Metal Gear Online has been released, courtesy of Konami. You can download it via the PSN and it will allow gamers to test the multi-player world of Metal Gear who haven't been able to as of yet.
Think that's all? You can also win a limited edition MGO t-shirt, which accommodates the new year that is coming up very soon. Hit the source to find out how to enter.

Metal Gear Online is still going strong on the PS3. In fact Konami just recently announced that they have hit 1 million members, and to celebrate this Konami are going to launch the Metal Gear Online: Commemorative Campaign, a simple promotion which by merely logging onto the game between November 25th and December 9th you earn 10 000 reward points to spend in the games shop and go in the draw to win 100 000 more. This is also coupled with the announcement of a bundle pack for the GENE and ME...
Remember how Sony promised 11 unannounced PS3 titles to feature at TGS? The same titles which have been strangely absent despite one or two here and there? Well the full list of titles has finally been revealed. And it turns out we've all been tricked, or rather tricked ourselves. You see Sony said they were unannounced titles, but never that they were new titles. These games had yet to be announced to appear at TGS, so there never really any new games to begin with, the large majority of th...
The trailer for the second expansion pack for Metal Gear Online was showcased at TGS and looks to be fantastic at this stage. Introducing characters Mei Ling and Liquid Ocelot, as well as three new maps titled Silo Sunset, Forest Firefight and Winter Warehouses and much more. Even if you're not interested in the game, it still has some laughs to keep you entertained... Especially right at the end.

Metal Gear Online is getting not one but two new expansion packs in the near future. The first is titled the MEME Expansion and features new maps, a new character and new features. All of which are detailed below. There is also a confirmation that yet another is on the way. Though next to no information is available yet.
If you've never read the "Ask PS3 Fanboy" articles, random people send in their questions, hoping for an answer. The website recommends bundles (SOCOM: Confrontation), they predict if certain games will ever have Trophies (Metal Gear Solid 4), and a lot of other things.
This could also be a good opportunity to brush up on your PS3 knowledge. Check out some of the questions in the quote.

"Dear Konami Customer:
We regret to inform that the release of the Expansion Pack "METAL GEAR ONLINE GENE EXPANSION" on 17th July 2008 was marred by major system related problems resulting in great inconveniences for all our customers.
We have been taking numerous corrective measures since the problems initially started, but unfortunately there are no permanent solutions we can announce at this present moment. With the problem still ongoing, we felt it would be our obligation to publish..."
"Before Kojima Productions and Konami get Hideo Kojima that editor he so desperately needs, perhaps the company should hire someone who knows how to launch an online multiplayer game. The Metal Gear Online "Gene Expansion" was released yesterday and promptly melted Konami's servers, resulting in the closure of the game's MGO Shop and Reward Shop and difficulty logging in to the service. Some MGO players have reported paying for the new expansion and getting nothing in return.
Konami's solut..."
"Metal Gear Online's first expansion pack - Gene - has been dated during Konami's E3 address yesterday. And that release date is...today, July 17!
The expansion will introduce a new gameplay mode (survival), three new maps, two new selectable characters (including Meryl) and a "reward shop", where you can spend the points you earn in survival mode on new gear for your character."
We have some new details on the Metal Gear Online "Gene Expansion". There are new maps and new playable characters from MGS4 (including Meryl Silverburgh and Johnny "Akiba").
There is also a new "Survival" mode and a Reward Shop that allows you to spend your in-game points on new gear.
Players can also make customizable female characters now.
As mentioned in my article yesterday Metal Gear Online now has a new game mode and new rules after the recent maintenance. The new game mode taking its inspiration from the Sneaking game mode features two teams battling it out, one team trying to steal one of two objects, the other team trying to defend them. But there's a catch, the attacking team has stealth camouflage but is limited to non lethal weapons while the attacking team can use whatever they please
"According to translated Japanese gaming forums (citing information from the newest edition of Famitsu), the pack will retail for 1200 yen, with another option of a 1500-yen pack that gives you a new character slot. Both packs will feature Johnny and Meryl, the ability to make female characters, a new Survival Mode, and three fresh stages: Shadow Moses, Mei Ling's Ship, and the Heliport from the original Metal Gear Solid on the PS1. Furthermore, as of Friday, we can expect a couple new rules f..."

Most would agree that the Xbox360 has the best online system on the market today with their Xbox Live service. However, with the continuing improvement of rival online systems on both PC's and the Playstation 3, is the annual fee of Xbox Live Gold Membership truly worth it, and what does it offer that the PSN and Steam don't? Read on to find out.
The Metal Gear series has been going for a long time, and during that time there have been many MANY awkward moments... listening to a certain 'guard' peeing in MGS2 comes to mind... however this article is only for the top 5 of those awkward moments... let's take a look at the top 5 list:
5) Crotch Grabbing
4) Homoerotic Sword Fighting
3) Otacon Sleeps With His Mom
2) Do You Think Love Can Bloom?
1) Jack and Rose

G4TV has released a small video regarding the new update for Metal Gear Online. They show what Snake looks like while you are using him and when you are against him.
While using him you may notice that people seem to walk straight by him. Right there you can really tell the octo-camo is working.
When they are fighting Snake, you can still see a outline of of him, but he blends in pretty well with the background.
Video at the source.
"Update" and "Metal Gear Online beta" combined together may have left quite a bad taste in your mouth. Yet, fear not. This update, exclusive to PAL regions currently, has no reports of such happenings. Instead, this update should make people happy. This update brings a new map, "Midtown Maelstrom" and a new game mode played as Solid Snake, "Sneaking Mission".
Some content has been added for Metal Gear Online and it is quite stellar. The content includes a new map called Midtown Maelstrom. There is also a new mode called Sneaking-Mode, where if there is more then 11 people in a game one player plays snake that is equipped with octo-camo, he has to collect dog-tags from the other players that are fighting.
He is equipped with a M4 custom, Mosin-Nagant, Mk.2 Pistol, Stun grenade + magazines, a scanning stick, the drum can, a card board box and oct...
Quite a few are sick of the (obvious) influx of GTA4 articles that have been coming through recently... well fortunately this isn't one of them. With the Metal Gear Online Beta and US players are having to anxiously wait for it to start, I thought starting with a few videos of the training modes and one of the gameplay modes would be a good way for those waiting to see what the game is like and to start thinking about their strategies.
Just remember, I'm not a big online player, so you ca...
Really some standard gameplay footage, but I'm sure you can't keep yourself from watching a man launch himself out of a catapult sky high, and land safely in a game with real life physics.
"You know how the Metal Gear Solid Beta hasnt exactly gone smoothly? The multiple delays combined with the horrible duplicate account process has put a bad taste in every ones mouth. Thats not even mentioning the short code problems that people have been experiencing.
The latest reports are that anybody whos Internet Service Provider is AOL UK have been blocked from the beta. The cause or reason is unknown but members of the Official Sony Forums have voiced complaints about the beta not ..."
Following reports from earlier this week, Konami have given the Metal Gear Online Beta the green light, allowing PlayStation 3 gamers to finally get their Metal Gear on.
As an apology for the title's delay, the Beta has been extended by a week. It will now run until May 11.
ThatVideoGameBlog has got a Metal Gear Online hands-on demo at the New York Comic Con. According to what they say, the first good thing you would notice in this game is the graphics. Not really surprising, eh? They also describe character movements (Which is supposed to be slow and sluggish compared to other multiplayer games), controls (Similar to other Metal Gear games) and overall gameplay.
"As Im sure most of you know by now (at least those who cared), the Metal Gear Online Beta has been delayed due to high demand. Uncertain as to when we would finally be able to play the beta, Konami updated their site to inform us that it will return this Friday. Here is how they put it:
Start date: Planned for 04/25/2008 24:00(PDT). While the start is planned for the weekend, it may change due to unforseen [sic] circumstances.
Unforeseen circumstances like what happened today? I ..."
A video that will make anyone that is awaiting eagerly for Metal Gear Online wet their pants (not litteraly... I hope). Here's a video showing you the Character Creation for Metal Gear Online... it just shows that the game is just over the horizon...
"We would like to thank all players for their keen interest in taking part in the beta test.
However, we regret to inform you that due to extraordinary levels of traffic from all around the globe, we have been unable to run the service to the level we expected.
As a temporary measure, we will be deferring the start of the US public beta test until we are able to stabilize our server.
We would like to apologize for all inconveniences as well as confusion caused.
We would like to add t..."
Once you download and install the premier beta of Metal Gear Online, it seems you have to update it before playing. Right here, the problem kicks in. First, you must notice that there are two methods of downloading. 1 : P2P. Most of you may say "Huh?". Well, it is P2P, but it's not LimeWire. =P
Well, if they had just P2P, and some seeders dedicated to it, they could have done it quite well. But the thing is, they also added a second method. 2 : HTTP. This is an ordinary download from their s...
According to several Sony PlayStation 3 owners who acquired beta codes as bonus for placing Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on pre-order, some keys are invalid.
Some people only got 9 digits on their code instead of 12. Making it not possible for them to download the MGO Beta.
Konami is yet to release official word regarding the matter, but for those with invalid codes or having troubles downloading, should send a email to mgobetasupport@konami.com .

"The European PlayStation Store has been updated and Europe and now download the Metal Gear Online Beta, which was released in the US a day early. Unlike the US, anyone can access the online beta. US games will have to preorder Metal Gear Solid 4 in order to receive a beta key to gain access to the game. Konami require you to register for a Konami ID in order to play the beta. The download weigh in at 741MB."
Shocked aye? Well it was meant to come out on April 17th, but it's up for download today.
Sadly though you can't play it until April 21st, but since it is out right now, why not download the 741MBs right now.
It certainly was a great idea - sign up for the Japanese Metal Gear Beta and hope to play the beta before most others. Unfortunately, that idea hasn't worked out as well as people had hoped, since Konami have deactivated the ID's of those that tried to get into the beta but weren't actual residents of Japan. Chances are that they will do something similar to the European version and those that try to download the beta without living in Europe.
"Most gamers likely feel a great sense of weariness at the prospect of being forced to sign up for yet another email account, web login or profile page just to be able to access some variety of digital content -- but what if that login was necessary in order to play Metal Gear Online?
According to the official Playstation Blog, that's exactly the case for those individuals lucky enough to have scored themselves a preview beta of Metal Gear Online by either pre-ordering Metal Gear Solid 4 or..."
"Aussie gamers will be able to take part in the beta test for Metal Gear Online very, very soon. The new look PlayStation Store goes live tomorrow, on April 15, and a fresh batch of content will be downloadable from the 17th including the MGO beta.
Two maps will be included with the beta: Blood Bath and Groznyi Grad. The latter, adapted from the setting for Metal Gear Solid 3, will include man-cannons for launching players through the multi-level environment."
That's right folks... you heard me right. We (and by this I mean those of us in Europe) will be getting the Metal Gear Online Beta for free, and without the need to pre-order like our American counterparts. A definite good news for those that were wondering if we'd ever get it. As for when it starts, and how long it lasts...
Well, we all know that the Playstation Store will sport a new look coming this tuesday, and on the thursday, one of the updates to the store will be the MGO Beta. Avai...
"Since the announcement of Metal Gear Online, its been left unclear whether or not it would be released as a standalone title or bundled together with Metal Gear Solid 4. Its only commonsense that the two should be paired together, but early talk didnt seem to suggest that they would be. Well, the January 08 issue of the new PlayStation: The Official Magazine (formerly PSM) was just dropped off in my mailbox headlined on the cover with exclusive confirmation that MGS4 and MGO are in fact b..."
Metal Gear Online, which until now has been shown as a separate product, has been confirmed to be bundled with Metal Gear Solid 4 for the Playstation 3. No word on whether or not it will be on two blu-ray discs or one.
"The lucky bastards who signed up for the Metal Gear Online Beta successfully are now starting to receive their invitations to download the software on their PS3. Of course, only Japan applicants are actually being picked, and those who slyly managed to sneak in their non-japanese applications havent received invites, meaning they were probably denied. Or at least, they better be. And yes, I am being a hater."
We all thought Metal Gear Solid 4 would be the last Metal Gear game. This is both correct, and incorrect. Kojima today officially announced the creation of Metal Gear Online. Whilst still part of the Metal Gear franchise, it will have no story, and so in essence the story will end with MGS4. It was also announced that it would be using the MGS4 engine, and with the announcement comes the fact that there will be no online mode in MGS4, just the offline game ;).
With the announcement of the ...
