While mulling a possible launch trailer for Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Hideo Kojima recently commented about how the excellent trailers are created in the previous Metal Gear Solid games.
In an interview with creative producer for the Kojima development team, Yoshikazu Matsuhana, stated that the original Metal Gear Solid will not be appearing in the recently announced HD collection. While this may be shocking to some, what’s even more shocking is the reason why it will not be included.
"It’s been over two and a half years since we experienced the end of Solid Snake‘s tale and what would be the true “end” of the series to the fanbase.
Snake gave his final salute at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4, and to longtime fans of the series (including the MSX versions) it was one of the most powerful moments this generation.
Here we have a hero that not only came to define the PlayStation platform, but ushered in the mainstream version of the stealth genre; now he’s out of our liv..."
In an ongoing effort to highlight great gaming artist from around the world, The Kartel brings you the works of "Pertheseus" as this week's featured artist.
If you thought the similarities between Solid Snake and Escape From New York's Snake Plisskin were too obvious to be a coincidence, you would be right. Hideo Kojima wrote director John Carpenter a letter, asking for his "blessing" in regards to the homage...
"When asked to give a rough percentage of how many ideas came from his team in the making of MGS Peace Walker on PSP, Kojima told the Official PlayStation Magazine: "Well it's strange, but not so many ideas come from the other staff. Co-op Ring, Love Box - the names and the ideas come from myself," said Kojima who, after MGS4, can do no wrong in our loving eyes.
"I am taking charge of the overall game design," he said, with a final stamp of authority. Modest chap, eh?"
One game that gamers want to see become a film is Metal Gear Solid. Despite the bad track record that video game film adaptations have had there's still major interest in seeing the world of MGS brought to life. Now a director familiar with making video game film adaptations has shown some interest in making a MGS movie. But is this good or bad news?
With God Of War 1 and 2 are being re-released on Blu-Ray, Kotaku asked other gaming companies whether they will consider re-releasing their big-name series for PS3.

Capcom have beeing seeing "some interested for Devil May Cry to get this treatment" and would like fans to tell them which games they'd like ...
""I personally get confused too about the whole timeline and saga of Metal Gear Solid. This is especially tricky when you create the future first and then go back in time to create something new. There are a lot of small aspects where sometimes it doesn't match completely.""
One of the best Playstation games ever is now one of the most popular products on the Playstation Store. Metal Gear Solid was released as a PSOne Classic last week and debuted strongly as the one most downloaded product on the Playstation Store at the same period.
After years of complaints, Sony is finally ready to beef up the PSOne Classic lineup on the Playstation Store for the PSP and Playstation 3. By the end of the year, they are planning to have eighty Playstation games available for download on their digital store.
"In celebration of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots’ one year anniversary, Konami has announced today that they will release “exciting” Metal Gear announcements all week long. Each day this week, Metal Gear fans can expect to receive game updates and other highly anticipated announcements about the best-selling series direct from Konami."

"Time to put down your guns, patriots! Everyone will know you mean business when you're wearing the new Foxhound Coat from AbbyShot. We succeeded in our dangerous mission: To take Liquid Snake's classic trench coat design from Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes and turn it into a wearable and durable trench coat. We went above and beyond this time, and we're sure you'll agree!"

"We’ve all had the same thought. With the enourmous library of PlayStation One titles at Sony’s disposal, why haven’t more PSOne Classics made their way to the PS Store?
Well soon enough, you won’t have to ask that question again, as the word is that Sony will be bringing a big chunk of PSN classics to the North American PS Store."
A Turkish man has escaped a prison in western Germany by making use of the tried and true Solid Snake method of using a cardboard box. There is now a manhunt taking place to recapture the clever escapee.
"Solid Snakes story is finished, but that doesnt mean Konami is going to seal the Metal Gear Solid franchise in an early grave. The first sign of a new Metal Gear Solid game comes from the Japanese Trademark database where Konami registered Metal Gear Existence with the boring image on the right. Its made to be used with video games so its likely, very likely, the name of a future Metal Gear Solid game."
"Konami look set to announce that the ultimate Metal Gear Solid experience, MGS for the PSOne, will be making its way to Sony's Playstation Network sometime in the next month, after the launch of Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns Of The Patriots. Along with further rumours that they are also planning to launch a software update with MGS4 to include cross media bar integration and those infamous trophies, it seems this is another rumoured aspect of the MGS saga.
The series has always been rumoured to..."

"Here’s a joke: Did you hear the one about Uwe Boll directing a movie version of the acclaimed video game series “Metal Gear Solid”? So did Uwe Boll – only he’s not laughing.
“This was an absurd story,” Boll told MTV News about how his name got attached and then removed from a cinematic adaptation. “Two French guys wrote a script, said they are from Konami hired to write the script, said ‘You wanna direct it?’ I read the script, I liked the script. I said, ‘Yes, I can do it.’”
A quick deal..."
The bigger they are, the harder they fall. The same saying goes for the PSP. It's already made big waves this year with God of War: Chains of Olympus and Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, but don't think for a second that it's done pulling the punches yet!
PSP Blogger takes a look at some of the titles still planned for the PSP in 2008. Among these are a few new games, but there's also a few older ones coming out via the Playstation Store.

"Twenty years ago, a bandana-rocking badass stepped onto the Nintendo Entertainment System and went to work on bringing down some bad guys at Outer Heaven. His name was Snake, and the videogame world would bow to his presence.
Well, they eventually would. After a couple sequels, Snake receded into the background of gaming culture. While the world moved on, Snake rested. Snake waited.
In 1998, Metal Gear Solid shipped for the PlayStation and turned the industry on its head. Sequels ..."
