Behind every great franchise and release in the video game industry, is someone who has dedicated themselves to creating breakthroughs and innovation for future games to come. MyGaming round-up some of the modern industry people you should know, although, there's many more unsung heroes to address.
Has a game ever made you cry? Tear up? Get sad? These games include the most heart wrenching scenes that tug at our emotions and bring us to our knees. Take a trip with Leviathyn as we revisit some of these and grab some Kleenex.
There are certain things that can make or break a game, but more often than not, modern games are filtered through some really ridiculous contemporary mechanics which end in gamers pulling their hair out.
A look back at the best cinematics and cutscenes in gaming history. From Final Fantasy to Halo and Red Dead Redemption, we count down the 15 best that made up cry, jump for joy, and get hyped up like never before.
Every console release since Sega decided to take on Nintendo in an epic showdown of 16-bit kings. It didn’t matter what kind of crap companies came up with (cough, cough Blast Processing?) because when it came down to it the games were what mattered.
"Many a gamer can recite a pungent and winding tale of their experience with the Metal Gear franchise. I myself will never, ever, forget the mind freaking I received at the hands of Psycho Mantis nor will I ever really recover from the baking heat of the harrowing microwave corridor."
The biggest world record book has been taking on games for the last 5 or so years and they do it by votes on many of the records. This record list is for the top 50 best video game endings.
In this week's edition of Top 10 Tuesdays, Matt Beaudette of Gaming Irresponsibly gives his list of the best voice actors in the world of video games.

Hideo Kojima has provided the first look at the latest Play Arts Kai figure, featuring Meryl Silverburgh from Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
With fall releases in full swing the crew at Goozernation looks back to their ever growing backlog which includes games such as Red Dead Redemption, Fallout New Vegas, Goldeneye 007, Enslaved, Borderlands, Bulletstorm, LA Noire, and Metal Gear Solid 4. The bigger question here is how can a gamer find anytime to play this stuff and how did these games end up in the backlog?
Just get a ps3? Well there are a ton of exclusives that are must haves. Goozernation tackles the list and looks at the must haves such as the Uncharted series, Resistance, God of War, Heavy Rain, and many others
"First and foremost let's state the obvious, Escape From New York is 100% one of the biggest influences on the MGS series ever. The look of the characters, their names, even some of the settings influenced MGS in some way. Not that you have to believe me or anything... Just, ya know Hideo Kojima, creator of the series said so himself that Escape From New York was a big influence so I guess that's all the proof I need! Shame on you for doubting me. Obviously there's the code name of the main ch..."
"When it comes to media, the two most important things to me are story and character. Whether it be movie, book or game, I want to be drawn in by it. It's for this reason that I prefer the action/adventure and, to a greater degree, RPG genres in games. Unfortunately, these genres (especially RPGs) are afflicted with a terrible and awesome thing: Cutscenes."
A lot of video games have you staring at your character's backside for hours on end, which is probably why most of them are really, really nice. Here are the 10 best.
"Of course Nathan is in this list. I mean, who doesn’t love Nathan Drake? He is the quintessential action hero and was probably trained by Indy himself. Drake has not just met zombies and Yetis, which actually transpired to be ancient guardians dressed up as Yetis, but he has met them all without batting an eyelid. While some would be scarred by the perils Drake has faced, he shrugs it all off with a wry smile and a cheeky joke. He can easily climb to any seemingly out of reach places, and can..."
Amazon has begun a new “Buy One, Get One 50% Off” sale for select video games (including Halo 3, Mass Effect 2, Metal Gear Solid 4) priced at under $20.
"It’s been over two and a half years since we experienced the end of Solid Snake‘s tale and what would be the true “end” of the series to the fanbase.
Snake gave his final salute at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4, and to longtime fans of the series (including the MSX versions) it was one of the most powerful moments this generation.
Here we have a hero that not only came to define the PlayStation platform, but ushered in the mainstream version of the stealth genre; now he’s out of our liv..."
"I had a discussion with my flatmate the other day about this subject. Apparently another fellow flatmate is a prolific cut-scene skipper in gaming. I have a friend just like this as well who is only interested in shooting things and pays absolutely no attention to a narrative. However to my first flatmate and me this is the ultimate in videogame sacrilege. When I skip story elements I feel bad, constantly worrying about whether I've missed something important. So let be a lesson to you. If yo..."
"Game developers, would you kindly stop talking in my head? I know that in an interactive medium like video games it can be difficult to guide the player character, but the horse is just about dead. This tends to happen in the FPS genre more than anywhere else. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a design choice that has led to some of my favorite experiences such as BioShock or Hideo Kojima’s masterpiece, Metal Gear…"

"It fills your living room with plastic tat, fills the games market to saturation point and features gameplay in which the controller feels more like an obstacle to immersion than a conduit between you and the game on the screen. Of course all these charges could be levelled at any game in the Guitar Hero or Rock Band series, but for sheer disappointment Guitar Hero II steps forward on behalf of its fellows to take the award.

"Multiplayer has existed in videogames since the industry formed, however, things changed dramatically when the first games of Doom were played over network in the nineties. From that point, online multiplayer became increasingly popular. Subsequent game releases pushed the technology envelope until 64 player deathmatches and Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs) became the industry norm. There is no doubt that there has been a massive rise in prevalence of online multiplay..."
"Ok ok, technically its a film villain abode, but you have to admit it is probably one of the most iconic villainous abodes ever, and its appearance in Star Wars games is always a joy. I particularly enjoyed making my way through it in the Force Unleashed, chucking storm-troopers into the planet-destroying laser beam as it switched on, frying them to particles in a split-second."
"Paul writes, "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was released years ago yet is still held by many as the greatest PlayStation 3 exclusive game of all time. Hideo Kojima has hinted at trophy support for the title arriving recently stating that some sort of "substance" edition similar to what was seen on PlayStation 2 with re-releases of MGS 2 and MGS 3 were an option, but it seems as if trophy support may come way sooner than expected.""
"Since there are literally hundreds of thousands of games out there, it’s no easy task for lead characters to make a lasting impression on the player. Once in a while however, you'll come across a leader that's different. Somehow, that character manages to set himself apart from the others."
Hideo Kojima’s latest comments about possibly adding trophy support to the popular Playstation 3 exclusive game, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
Epic is more than just impossible odds and little guys taking on big guys. Epic is when a game sends you through a moment that gets your blood running and when its over leaves you in disbelief over what just happened. New England Gamer presents the best epic moments in gaming.
"There are many games out there but not many manage to have quotes that will stick with you your whole life. Quotes are what makes games memorable. What you’ll find below is a comprehensive list that I’ve compiled with the funniest, poorly translated and most memorable quotes."
"My backlog is an ever expanding monster that I’ll probably never defeat. There just isn’t enough time in a day, and enough days in a year to whittle away every game I haven’t beaten yet. Even with a backlog of unfinished titles and the prospect of even more new, great games on the horizon, I often have the urge to go back and replay a few favorites."
"Video games are a medium filled with lousy stories, absurd scenarios and otherwise ridiculous plot points. That said, there are also some real gems out there. The sort that rise above the stupidity of their bretheren and prove that yes, gaming can be a real, honest-to-goodness medium for storytelling. Sadly, few can do this perfectly. Even in the best games there are those moments where you just have to sit back and wonder what they were thinking.

If you thought the similarities between Solid Snake and Escape From New York's Snake Plisskin were too obvious to be a coincidence, you would be right. Hideo Kojima wrote director John Carpenter a letter, asking for his "blessing" in regards to the homage...
The release of Peace Walker has MGS fans excited and animated. This fan in particular has created and cosplayed practically every character in the Metal Gear universe, from sexy classics like Meryl to even crazy super Raiden from Metal Gear Solid 4.

2. My name originated from the Mistubishi J2M fighter plane in World War 2. The American nickname for the plane was Jack, while the Japanese nickname was Raiden.

"In the world of games the male lead has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders. Among the things a hero has to accomplish is being a tough guy or a bad-ass in this case. While plenty have accomplished this throughout the history of gaming, few have made major impacts in gaming in the last ten years. What does it take to be a bad-ass you ask? Well first of all you have to be able to hold your own in a fight despite all the odds being stacked against you. There's no denying that the guys on o..."
"Gamers can debate all day about which video game character is the hottest; but there is no debate as to which console has the hottest exclusive game babes. The Playstation 3 has some of the best exclusive titles and among those are some of the hottest babes. We run down out top five ps3 babes. Sure we could have run down the usual list of fighters and Ninja Gaiden babes, but those aren’t exclusives. These women are only from games found on the Playstation this generation. As usual, we don’t n..."
"While the women in fighting games tend to get the most attention for being considered "sexy", their cousins in the action genre are out shooting it up and exploring boundaries well beyond the confines of a ring. Just because these characters are rendered in more than bikinis doesn't mean they're not sexy.
The action genre has been dominated by male characters since the creation of gaming. But there have been a few exceptions to the rule of sexes. And of course, these female exceptions have..."
Hideo Kojima reveals the inspiration behind the theme of the story featured in the Playstation 3 exclusive title, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
Not a lot has been done with the stealth genre through the past years. While we're starting to see games incorporating aspects of stealth, few can claim to be truly "innovative." However, thanks to the following five games and franchises, we have seen amazing changes in gaming and the stealth genre as a whole.
Because trophy support didn’t became mandatory until the start of 2009, plenty of great Playstation 3 exclusive games missed out on the opportunity. Here are the top five early PS3-only titles that need a trophy patch.
Sean Eyestone of Kojima Productions says that the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker development team is as big as the one that developed Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
"If there's one thing Destructoid doesn't do enough of, it's the cataloging and rating of female body parts in a cynical bid to keep the virgins and date rapists interested. Fortunately, we plan to address that with a new series of articles that catalog and rate female body parts in a cynical bid to keep the virgins and date rapists interested. The hits will come flooding in.

While a Metal Gear Solid movie is looking pretty unlikely, that hasn't stopped Gamerzines.com from putting together a list of the actors and actresses they would like to see star in a MGS movie.
Don't worry, Christian Bale isn't on the list :-D
"When asked to give a rough percentage of how many ideas came from his team in the making of MGS Peace Walker on PSP, Kojima told the Official PlayStation Magazine: "Well it's strange, but not so many ideas come from the other staff. Co-op Ring, Love Box - the names and the ideas come from myself," said Kojima who, after MGS4, can do no wrong in our loving eyes.
"I am taking charge of the overall game design," he said, with a final stamp of authority. Modest chap, eh?"
""An Ending with a Twist
However the Metal Gear Solid film would have ended, you can bet it would have included some kind of twist, if only in the form of a voice-over that immediately followed the credits. Just think of all the subtle plot twists and/or sequel hints that could have been thrown into the last little bits of dialogue. It would have been amazing.""

"The final product is astounding, the look, feel & sound of a Metal Gear product is all there. Despite the lack of a true blockbuster feel, you know the kind that costs around $40,000,00, Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy is the greatest fan made movie I have ever seen. I strongly urge you to watch this, and then get over to the comment section and tell them what a great job they did. It has taken years, literally, but they kept at it and now it’s done."
"I love Metal Gear Solid, in fact there has never been a franchise that has amazed me and left me speechless quite like this franchise has. In fact the question was asked of me recently if you could meet anyone famous who would it be; my reply was Hideo Kojima, because he created, in my eyes, the most amazing franchise ever made.
Metal Gear Solid changed my gaming life. The experiences I had are still vivid in my mind, and I often recall moments when I first experienced them. Though some ma..."
"With Gamer on the horizon, we've decided to celebrate the moments when games and movies converge, creating scenes that'd look as good on cinema screens as they do on our battered portable tellies.
So, rest your joypad on one knee, rest your DVD remote on the other knee, and join in. How many have you played?"
"Following the introduction of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots to the European PlayStation 3 Platinum range earlier this year, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have today confirmed a number of titles set to enter the range prior to the years’ end. With a UK Recommended Retail Price (RRP) of only £19.99, these titles are certainly likely to fare well alongside the recent Price reduction and redesign of PlayStation 3 hardware."
""I personally get confused too about the whole timeline and saga of Metal Gear Solid. This is especially tricky when you create the future first and then go back in time to create something new. There are a lot of small aspects where sometimes it doesn't match completely.""
The rumors that Christian Bale will play the role of Solid Snake in a possible Metal Gear Solid movie were recently squashed by Bale himself. So that leaves the door open for any actor to play the role if the movie is indeed ever created.
But which actor would make a good Solid Snake? Go to the source for kokugamer.com's Top 5 Movie Actors Who Could Play Solid Snake...

2. So, you don’t think I can amaze you as I did for millions that played Metal Gear Solid? Well, my powers have already connected to your mind! Yes… through these very words, I can see your deepest thoughts.

Console bundles are usually a hit-or-miss. Sometimes they might come with one game you want, but mostly they come with crappy games that stores just want to get rid of. So it's always nice when a console bundle is this awesome...
"When I was a child, there were a bunch of cool games... the Sonic ones, the Mickey ones, the Donald Duck ones, etc. But these were all "cute"... then, after sometime, with the evolution of video game, it was delivered to us a game that kicked butt: Metal Gear Solid.
It was not about fighting, but it was about the art of stealth. Being an ocidental ninja, per say... and Solid Snake was that new kind of John Rambo of secret agents. And man, it was a cool game and I'm definetely waiting a mov..."
All we know about the Metal Gear Solid Movie is that there will be a movie. Rumors have come and gone mostly about Christain Bale playing Snake. Well a photo has been leaked which shows a movie poster from Sony Pictures, on the face on there, no other then Christain Bale.

Those following Kojima's latest tease will know that the site update last night with an image of Big Boss (?). However Famitsu also managed to nab an interview with the man himself and although it doesn't confirm much, Kojima does state that he is both designing and directing the game.
Those with a keen eye may also spot Raiden in scan too. Or is it Gray Fox?

I personally apologize for bringing this episode of The Bender a day late, I have been working my butt off trying to get a Sacred 2 review out sooner than later. To make up for this, enjoy one of the crew being drunk as we discuss the game news of the week along with some E3 talk. Grab the mp3 directly here or off iTunes here.
"In my never-ending quest to fill the giant open spaces of my life I call work, I decided to compile a list of video games guys who are b.a.mf.’s. By this I mean these guys probably couldn’t ever successfully have a girlfriend, can kill without losing sleep, or guys who should really pay a visit to some of the scum that are allowed to exist in this world. Just guys who you don’t want to mess with- ever."
"Cover systems aren’t exactly something that have been there since the start for the shooter genre. My own first experience of the cover systems are the snap-on cover mechanics used in Metal Gear Solid, and also the flawless chunky cover system in Gears of War for the Xbox 360. I am a huge fan of developers implementing cover systems into any shooting games, but then again I may be outspoken. For example, a massive number of gamers may play Gears 2 online which may suggest that covers systems ..."
We've all seen the countdown and the huge amounts of speculating following it. Japanese e-Commerce database 7-Eleven is now claiming that this game is indeed a Metal Gear game set to be featured in Famitsu PS3+PSP on the 30th May.
In most parts of the world, it's May 18th and everyone who follows Kojima knows that they will be making some sort of announcement today. The website has been updated with a big "5" or possibly a capital "S". Could this mean a Metal Gear Solid 5 is coming?
"I was emailed an interesting rumor earlier this morning concerning the upcoming Konami announcement coming from the Kojima team. Now, some of this information I have heard previously from outside sources, but with it now circulating a little more, I feel as though it should be shared."
"In a recent blog post on Playstation.Blog, Brandon Laurino of Konami Online wrote the following:
“Stay tuned for updates in the coming weeks, as the one-year anniversary of the launch of Metal Gear Solid 4 approaches, we’ll be revealing even more awesome stuff to celebrate!”
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was released on June 12, 2008. The one year anniversary coincides with E3 2009, which takes place from June 2nd to June 4th."
The next Metal Gear Solid has been revealed! And in a sudden strike of genius and originality Hideo Kojima has made it revolve around...Cyborg Ninja Colonel. Well not really, but its April 1st, what did you expect? Watch this well made spoof on Colonel Campbell taking up the fight where Raiden left off, viewable at the source.
Hideo's Kojima's next project is supposed to be not Metal Gear Solid related, however whether he's involved or not a vital hint to the next game may have been given away at his presentation, the words "Mission: The next MGS" and a picture of Raiden the cyborg ninja from MGS4 in the background being on the last slide. Perhaps an indication he is to play a vital role in the next game? Maybe just symbolic? E3 can't come soon enough!
"With releases on just about every platform from the past twenty years, numerous sequels, remakes and non-canonical spinoffs, Metal Gear is one of the most prolific and longest-living series in gaming. It paved the way for stealth gaming in general, and in particular, broke ground for tech-stealth games like Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell and Syphon Filter. It's impossible to do justice to such a wide-ranging experience in so few words—that this history can only hope to scratch the surface is a te..."
Metal Gear Solid 4 and its counterpart Metal Gear Online has received a load of support since its launch, several podcasts, new songs and camo's, even two multiplayer expansion packs. One thing it is lacking however is trophies, one thing many fans have called for considering the already trophy like nature of the emblems. Brandon Laurino (a member of Konami online) has recently commented on trophyPlaystation.Blog that Konami have heard pleas for the trophies and are considering the possibilit...
The trailer for the new Metal Gear Online expansion pack, labeled SCENE has been released on the Japanese PSN, and has been faithfully uploaded. As anyone knows by now, Konami know how to make a damn good trailer and this one is no exception. New skills are present like counter CQC and distractions. New characters available with Raiden, Vamp and Haven Troopers all making an appearance. New gear including suits and bikini's. And three brand new maps, one even featuring water combat.
"So the global economy is taking a giant dump, and your job is among the waste. Your house is worth less than you owe the bank. Your town/state/country is bankrupt. Big banks are rolling in your future taxes. Meanwhile, you couldn't get a loan if you offered a shylock your ring finger up front. Times are tough, but you can take comfort in this undeniable fact: Never in your life have you had so much time to game. Sure, you could use your time on the unemployment dole to take some classes and i..."
The first proper trailer for Metal Gear Solid Touch, the remake of the award winning PS3 game onto the iPhone is now up, and while its definitely not the game everyone was expecting it seems to be shaping up pretty nicely, these are definitely some high quality graphics for a handhold. Nice music too.

By now I'm sure we're all aware of Resident Evil 5's racism issue, but racial stereotyping is an issue that seems to go beyond beyond just one game.
Darion White, from Edge Online, takes a look at the way black characters are portrayed in video games, both the positive portrayals and the negative ones.

You've gotta give some gamers credit. They're either really dedicated to their games (or just really impulsive). A Japanese lady has sent Kotaku a picture of her new Solid Snake tattoo that covers most of her midriff!
Let's hope she doesn't regret it in 10 years!
"I am sure that everybody, at some point in their lives, has been playing a videogame and suddenly found themselves questioning the sexual preferences of the characters involved. Ultimately, one finds one's self asking the final and most pressing question of all -- is that character a dom or a sub?"

"If we think about LittleBigPlanet, Age of Conan or Mirrors Edge, we notice they have two things in common: very successful and well received demo versions (or beta stages) and very poor, lower than anticipated game sales. And since these are not the only titles in which a demo (or the lack of it) appears to be connected with their commercial success, I believe we should analyze the influence demos have in the game world and debate: are game demos game killers?"
Konami are still trying to bring new players into the MGO fold, no doubt trying to boost numbers since several new hit multiplayer games have stolen part of their fanbase. There most recent attempt is the Welcome Rookie Campaign, which promises a free 5000 Reward point bonus and codec pack for those who sign up now. Not much else to say really, beside me feeling slightly jipped at newbs getting content for free I had to pay for.
"Fanboys have been plaguing the Internet for quite some time with their silly propaganda, heinous slander, & a laggard intellect that leaves the rest of us sane humans flabbergasted at the fact that these are the type of people we not only have to deal with on forums or blogs, but also in person typically at retailers where I purchase my games from. I just don't understand the logic behind being a fanboy, I mean the way I see it it's a lose lose situation. These companies do not compensate you..."
"In years past, NeoGAF has done their favorite moments in gaming, using only MS Paint to show you. Looking back at 2008 brings us some of the coolest moments, great memories that can look amusing to just plain epic, even when in Paint. I purposely left out the names of the games as half the fun is guessing (but if you cant figure it out, right click and hit properties to see the file name where I put the game)."
There's no doubt Killzone 2 is looking to be a very big title for Sony with it's fun gameplay and beautiful graphics. And why wouldn't it be with the amount of work and dedication Sony and Guerilla games devs has been doing for the game, and money. But does it come as a surprise an anonymous Sony representative continues the hype for this game?
And does this hurt the game like some games which didn't live up to the hype *cough* Haze, Lair *cough*? Well only time will tell.
"Lets not forget about the console wars! There are sale charts, there are fanboys slamming other fanboys data, there are all sorts of ways to decide the winner of the console wars One of them is, of course, checking the exclusive games and thats exactly what were planning to do now. So, the battle is on: PS3 vs. Xbox 360 vs. Wii which console has the best exclusives?"
myreviewpoint.com has posted their list of the top five video game series that should move on over to the latest major console by Nintendo, the Wii. They've been seen on the other two consoles, why not this one?
"As we all know, the one thing that sets videogames apart from other forms of media is interactivity. Being the catalyst for your own adventure is something that makes gaming more interesting to me than any movie or book. With videogames, one can stop being a mere passive observer and actually be a part of the action.
That said, if there's one thing I may have done more than playing videogames, it's watching videogames. Whether patiently waiting for my turn or being astounded by the skills..."

These video games are not your typical blockbuster game like Metal Gear Solid 4 or Gears of War 2, though. Theyre educational video games, designed with the specific intent of teaching the player a fact or concept.""

"So here's the thing, Wii Fit has mass-market appeal, and Wii Sports comes packed in with the Wii, so it's understandable for them to outsell AAA titles from the other consoles. Wii Play, however, isn't even a GOOD GAME. No one will tell you that it is. Yet the fact that it comes with a Wiimote for only $10 more has encouraged nearly 20 MILLION PEOPLE to drop down their precious cash for the thing. More people own this game than Halo 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Gears of War COMBINED.

"After 12 months of playing and enjoying as many games as possible, its time to take a break, look back and choose the best of the best - the best 10 games of the year 2008. As you can imagine, its a really tough mission, especially because the overall quality of the games released this year was pretty high (there were exceptions, of course), but we must choose the game of the year here, at the Unigamesity!"
"It's hard finding a trailer that sticks with you and keeps itself glued to the walls of your memories. Trailers that manage to do such a feat are easily worthy of some kind of media recognition. So in the good spirit of acknowledging awesomeness where awesomeness deserves recognition, Blend Games has proudly put together a list of the Top 10 Coolest Game Trailers of 2008. So without wasting a whole lot of words on a pointless lead-in to the list, you can check out our top ten picks for the co..."
"If you're married make sure your wife isn't in the same room with you, otherwise you could be sleeping on the couch for the next couple of weeks. If you have a girlfriend it would be best if she weren't with you while checking out these trailers, otherwise you might not getting any late night "snacks" for about a month. And if you're not old enough to close your bedroom door, you probably aren't old enough to be watching these trailers. But for the mature minded youth, you better not let your..."
OXCGN writer looks at the future of graphic between the top two heavy-hitters, the PS3 and the Xbox 360.
The former coming into its stride in 2009 will no doubt push Xbox 360 to doing more tweaks in that area, but he asks the question, will it really matter ? Isn't "gameplay" the thing "gamers" look for ?!
Makes for some interesting reading and discussion. So slip on over and check it out.
"I played through dozens of games this year and tried at least a hundred more. And through them all, I experienced some amazing moments.
As I have done in years previous, here are my picks for My 10 Favorite Moments in Video Games for 2008. (As spoiler-light as I can make them.)"
Metal Gear Solid 4 has had a large supply of downloadable content since its launch. Map packs, new camo patterns and music all sifting through on a regular basis. One thing that I and I think a fair few others noticed was the lack of podcasts. The first already present within the game offered funny and interesting commentary, and promised more episodes, episodes which have still yet to appear. However it looks like finally the first of hopefully many episodes is on the way, the first schedule...
Not only will LittleBigPlanet receive a Metal Gear Solid Costume pack, but it will also receive a MGS 'Level Pack', which comes with all that is mentioned below all of the below too!
All of this is coming to the NA PSN Store on the 23rd of December. The costumes will cost $1.99 each or $5.99 for all 4, whilst the 'Level Pack' $5.99 too. And the best part is, that you don't even need to own to the levels to be able to play them!
"We look at the top 12 games from several platforms in order to determine which are the Top 12 Overall Games for 2008, and you might just be surprised at the overall winner for 2008 - coming from an Xbox site. OXCGN (aka XboxOZ360-gamer) has always maintained that the staff are gamers - not fanbois. Most have more than 2 consoles and platforms to play games on and simply enjoy gaming period.
So what better way to round off the year than to take a look at what we believe to be the top ..."
A nice quick and to the point write up from Primotech that includes all the winners from the show on top of some random news blips (such as Pearl Jam's full album Ten coming to Rock Band, Brutal Legend confirmed for 2009, GTAIV DLC trailer, Gears 2 maps coming, Fight Night Round 4 coming 2009). See quote for full list of winners, go to source to see some more news from the event.
While Konami hasn't made any open statements, the company decided not to include the famed Metal Gear Solid theme in Guns of the Patriots due to plagiarism accusations regarding the musical piece. Russian composers have pointed out an uncanny resemblance between classic MGS theme, first heard in 1998, and a 1979 Russian composition.
The Video Game Awards has announced the nominees for the award show. Raning from GOTY to best shooter, to best online to best male/female actors. The show will by aired on Spike TV and will show off exclusive videos for GOW3, Uncharted 2 and Gears 2. Click the link for the full list of nominees.
X-Play has a video up detailing the best games of 2008. Sure, it ain't over yet, but it seems like the best of it done with. Oddly, Fable II wins game of the year, but is beaten by Fallout 3 for RPG of the year. Huh?
Other categories include Best Handheld Game, Best Action/Adventure Game, and Best Music/Rhythm Game.
Recently there was a picture put up to do with the next metal gear. hardcasual.net has been "busy at work" attempting to figure it out.
So what's the result? Well they decided it's an anagram, coming up with three rather humerous solutions!
"Of course, with a new Metal Gear we know that the series long time protagonist, Solid Snake, probably wont be the hero this time around. At the end of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots he is in retirement and possibly, you never know with Kojima narratives, on his way to the grave. Otacons final comments to Sunny was a poignant reminder to long time fans that Snake has gone above and beyond the call of duty and needs to rest. LET HIM REST!"
Today, a mysterious new webpage was made available on Kojima Productions' website, as noticed today by Japanese newssite Famitsu. The Konami logo is shown which fades to the image shown on the right.
Could there be a new Metal Gear?
Check it out for yourself here.
"The relationship between introverted computer genius Hal "Otacon" Emmerich and his charge Sunny (seen above) is a diamond-polished window into the soul of the young men who work for Japanese game companies. A doe-eyed nine- or ten-year-old who resembles a child less than she does a scaled-down maid café waitress, she waits on her guardian hand and foot, cleaning, assisting with programming, and serving meals. The pair live as virtual hikikomori shut-ins on a high-tech aircraft that serves as ..."

A Turkish man has escaped a prison in western Germany by making use of the tried and true Solid Snake method of using a cardboard box. There is now a manhunt taking place to recapture the clever escapee.
Found in the co-op mode via Resistance 2, Insomniac - the developer of the game - has given some props to Konami and their famous MGS 4.
Are we going to hit a video game burst similar to the one during the Atari days before Nintendo saved the day!? A little discussion on the news about Brandon Crisp. James not only is allergic to coconut, but doesn't eat beef either, sad times. Allison doesn't know if she wants Rock Band or Guitar Hero.
Challenge James in a video game quiz where you can pick the category, and we'll give you a prize. Enjoy this weeks The Bender (or else!)
Oh my dear lord. MSNBC has managed to make the ultimate laughable list by the games they have picked as having the most cinematic video games. Actually, most of the list isn't too bad, but when you get to number one, prepare to have milk spill out of your nose (and I hope you were drinking milk, otherwise see a doctor immediately!) I don't want to ruin the surprise, so just look at the list.
"If you have a PS3 and don't own the game yet, then I don't know what is wrong with you. This game was the system seller. Having a demo come out so far after the game has been released is just about unheard of and really makes me unsure of the strategy being used here.. BUT, at least this means Sony is staying consistent as far as how the whole company seems to be run, which is having no real strategy. ("Lets release a demo for a game everybody has, but stick without having a small patch to p..."
What do gamers do when people in America are going to the booths to vote? They hold their own elections, for video game characters of course!
Take your pick from the likes of Sackboy, Tom Nook... and even 12-Pack! Even gamers like a good old beer now and then, right? Each candidate has a badge, their promises and their slogan.
So who gets your vote?
Well, after the excellent game Kojima released a few months ago, Metal Gear Solid 4, hopes are high among fans for a new Metal Gear Solid game. Could this be it? Seems that Kojima has stated to the Famitsu magazine that he is currently working on a new game, which will be announced next year? MGS: existence? We can only hope!
The source links to IGN, which has posted the story.
"Mandatory installs come from complications developers meet when switching from DVD to Blu-ray. Blu-rays have more space, but they have a different way of reading data that causes longer loading times when given exactly the same data DVDs use. Installs fix the problem, at a cost, but alternative methods are being devised. Fallout 3 has enough space on the Blu-ray disc to copy the game's assets over more than once on the disc, which reduces load times significantly. This kind of innovation is n..."
You saw the Amazing MGS Custom PS3, but that is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to PS3 mods.
Here is a list (with lots of images) of some of the best from around the net, as compiled by PS3 Maven.
Ranging from game inspired mods, to ridiculous extraneous hardware modifications (think water cooling and external HDDs), prepare to be impressed.

"Morpheon Mods has crafted an incredible MGS4-themed PS3 system that's not only completely blinged out, it's signed by Hideo Kojima himself. The quantity and scope of the modications applied are mind-boggling. GameDaily is a video gaming site like any other from a casual view. Reviews, news and editorials all delivering information to the gaming community. However some recent shoddy reviews have left the staff in a sticky point indeed. In a recent a Socom: Confrontation review the game had a number of points raised against it, most notably a lack of quick weapon change and the inability to set a timer on a game. However a player of the game has come forth and attacked Robert Workman's facts. Having...
This topic has already been covered fairly well (see: The Problems with Game Criticism, and The Problem with Game Reviews Part 1 & 2), but until we're in a better state, it's always a positive thing, yeah?
Anyhow, Variety's Ben Fritz offers his take on the situation (as a response to Variety critic Leigh Alexander's recent blog), saying we nitpick too much and actively look for things to criticize in games instead of really valuing what needs to be valued and not letting the little stuff (...
Just two days ago rumors were once again all over the Internet as a PR Manager for Konami mentioned that MGS4 for the 360 was being considered. However Konami have now denied the rumor, saying there is no version of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots in the works for the 360. Even the original article detailing the supposed possibility of a port has been changed, which is now advertising other Konami games.
Sniper Rifles are something you love and hate at the same time. You love it when you own someone halfway across the map with a headshot, and you hate it when your on the...well receiving end. Sniper Rifle's have existed since the dawn of FPS's and beyond and this article examines the god like weapon. It's history, its ups and downs, and a list of some of the best of these beastly weapons every to grace a game are all present here.
The rumor just won't die! At the Tokyo Game Show, Konami PR mouthpiece Yoshitaka Arai hinted that Metal Gear Solid 4 might make it's way to the XBox 360 due to the high demand for it to happen.

The trailer for the second expansion pack for Metal Gear Online was showcased at TGS and looks to be fantastic at this stage. Introducing characters Mei Ling and Liquid Ocelot, as well as three new maps titled Silo Sunset, Forest Firefight and Winter Warehouses and much more. Even if you're not interested in the game, it still has some laughs to keep you entertained... Especially right at the end.

So it seems the rumours were true. Edge Online can today confirm that Ryan Payton, one of the main figures behind Metal Gear Solid 4, has indeed joined Microsoft's Halo team. Surely only good things can become of this ?
There are so many hints that Hideo Kojima wants to make Metal Gear Solid 5, he might as well just confirm it.
Recently Kojima revealed that he already has three concepts ready for MGS5 and that if the team picks one of them, he'll have to get involved again.

For the Wii, Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit came out first and second. On the 360, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Tales of Vesperia, and Rock Band 2 came out in the lead. For the PS3, again, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed game out on top along with Afrika in Japan; Grand Theft Auto IV and Metal Gear Solid 4 came high as well. To see t...
"Solid Snakes story is finished, but that doesnt mean Konami is going to seal the Metal Gear Solid franchise in an early grave. The first sign of a new Metal Gear Solid game comes from the Japanese Trademark database where Konami registered Metal Gear Existence with the boring image on the right. Its made to be used with video games so its likely, very likely, the name of a future Metal Gear Solid game."
The hype for Metal Gear Solid 4 was huge. Japan was flooded with odd little TV commercials proclaiming that MGS4 is more important than marriage, giant MGS4 posters splashed across cities and arcade machines promoting the game. It was one of the biggest game releases of this-generation.
So it seemed odd when Hideo Kojima recently revealed how much he dislikes it when "massive advertising campaigns are executed for games" which results in " sell-off tactics happening without hesitation".
Capcom producer Ben Judd recently talked to VideoGamer.com about his upcoming game Bionic Commando.
He also had a few things to say about the popular titles Metal Gear Solid 4 and Bioshock...
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was possibly the biggest hit for the PS3 this year and perhaps all next gen consoles. But what exactly went into this epic title? What happened over those three and a half years which made the game so outstanding? This article here gives all the answers to these questions, showing an extensive walkthrough of how each part of this spectacular game was crafted. Artwork, character design the whole shebang.
Ryan Payton recently left Kojima Productions citing "family issues", but he could be back behind the helm of a game sooner than we think. Kotaku is reporting that reliable sources are stating that Microsoft have hired Payton to be the creative director on the upcoming, and still not dead, Peter Jackson Halo game.
If you've never read the "Ask PS3 Fanboy" articles, random people send in their questions, hoping for an answer. The website recommends bundles (SOCOM: Confrontation), they predict if certain games will ever have Trophies (Metal Gear Solid 4), and a lot of other things.
This could also be a good opportunity to brush up on your PS3 knowledge. Check out some of the questions in the quote.
With Ryan Payton having left Kojima productions now, 1UP have published their last interview with him, before he left the department, which sheds yet more light on how this masterpiece came to be.

"10. The "PSP Brite's" non-existent battery problem
When Sony announced the PSP-3000, it seemed like a nice little incremental update to the platform. Sure, the brighter screen and tweaked cosmetics wouldnt lure many existing owners into a repeat purchase, but it would help keep the aging platform relevant.
But within just a few days of its announcement, it came out that in one key way the PSP Brite would actually be a downgrade over existing models: battery life. In an interview with..."
Capcom shocked many when they announced that Devil May Cry 4 would be going multiplatform, and the clear reason behind it was money. The Playstation 3 at that point simply hadn't sold enough for them to make much money, and releasing it on the XBOX360 allowed them to reach a wider range of audience. However it seems they're finally seeing the Playstation 3 as 'having reached full swing' and that too, thanks to MGS4.

Hideo Kojima is such a tease. First he said that MGS4 would be his last Metal Gear game, then he hinted that a MGS4 sequel was in the works, then assistant producer Ryan Payton said there wouldn't be a direct sequel but another Metal Gear game eventually will be made, Kojima then restated that he is thinking about making MGS5 and that "MGS will ALWAYS be around".

X-Play's (part of G4TV) awards show, G-Phoria, aired this past week with some dominating results. According to a recent report of Metal Gear Solid 4 sales from Konami, they have shipped 3.94 million copies of the game, almost hitting four million!

Gamers have been hearing rumors of a Hollywood Metal Gear Solid movie for years. But while fans wait for that, let's take a look at a little fan-made movie that is currently in the works called "Metal Gear Asynja".

The NPD Group's hardware and software numbers for the month of June has been released, representing sales for the United States in the five week period of June 1st to July 5th.
This month, there are three notable happenings:
"Metal Gear Online's first expansion pack - Gene - has been dated during Konami's E3 address yesterday. And that release date is...today, July 17!
The expansion will introduce a new gameplay mode (survival), three new maps, two new selectable characters (including Meryl) and a "reward shop", where you can spend the points you earn in survival mode on new gear for your character."
After Mircosoft revealed that Final Fantasy 13 was coming to the 360 at their E3 2008 Press Conference, people started to speculate that MGS 4 would also become a 360 game. Jack Tretton, the CEO of SCEA, says bringing MGS 4 over to the 360 would be impossible, partly because of Blu-Ray.

There are no blogs on silly Metal Gear related topics, there are no bouts of hysteria from overzealous site editors and there are no top 10 MGS4 lists on Gamesradar. Am I the only one f..."
David Hayter, the voice actor for Solid Snake, recently revealed his opinions on Metal Gear Solid 4 and how much he begged Konami to change certain parts of the game that he wasn't happy with. So what parts did Mr Hayter want changed? Read the article to find out!
"Kojima, who lived in Osaka and Hyogo prefectures for 30 years from the age of 3, cannot forget the spirit of entertainment or comedy for which his home region, Kansai, is known.
MGS 4, too, is filled with giggle-inducing aspects. "I'm often asked not to include such elements in a hard-boiled game. But I can't help it," Kojima said with a laugh. "My ideal game is something that makes you want to come back to the world later. It is not enough only to make you enjoy the sense of tension. I w..."
"Picking up almost four years after the "Big Shell Incident" from MGS 2, Metal Gear Solid 4 takes place in a world where the restriction of military intervention on foreign soil has been eased, fuelling the need for private military companies to fight proxy wars for business purposes. Nanotechnology has become prominent, both to enhance the capabilities and enforce the loyalty of mercenaries and five of the largest PMCs are owned by Outer Haven, a company operated in the Middle East by Liquid..."
As mentioned in my article yesterday Metal Gear Online now has a new game mode and new rules after the recent maintenance. The new game mode taking its inspiration from the Sneaking game mode features two teams battling it out, one team trying to steal one of two objects, the other team trying to defend them. But there's a catch, the attacking team has stealth camouflage but is limited to non lethal weapons while the attacking team can use whatever they please
This is sad news for Playstation 3 owners who were hoping that the console's biggest exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4 would give the PS3 a much-needed boost in sales. It seems that, despite MGS4's popularity, the Wii still managed to double the sales of PS3 for the month of June.
This is especially depressing for PS3 owners since Nintendo didn't release any first-party Wii titles in June, let alone any big titles.
"According to translated Japanese gaming forums (citing information from the newest edition of Famitsu), the pack will retail for 1200 yen, with another option of a 1500-yen pack that gives you a new character slot. Both packs will feature Johnny and Meryl, the ability to make female characters, a new Survival Mode, and three fresh stages: Shadow Moses, Mei Ling's Ship, and the Heliport from the original Metal Gear Solid on the PS1. Furthermore, as of Friday, we can expect a couple new rules f..."
For those of you with a sharp eye and an attention to detail, you may have noticed something odd while watching the bonus features disc that came with Metal Gear Solid 4. Jonny L of Kotaku noticed it: Hideo Kojima has an Xbox 360 on his desk - or one of his employee's desks, at least.
Yes, the man who made one of the PS3's biggest exclusive titles has an Xbox 360 at his workplace and it appeared in MGS4's bonus features. Shh, don't tell Sony ...
Narrative, dynamic game play, installs, awesome graphics? What are all these things? Fuchal of NextGG.com offers a satirical guide for Xbox Fanboys who may wish to explore their feelings towards Metal Gear Solid 4.
Yahtzee does one of his trademark histerical reviews of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. This one is a blast (and honestly did we expect anything less).
It was only a matter of time before Metal Gear Solid 4 would lose it's top spot in the sales charts. But who would have thought it would lose it to Super Robot Taisen A Portable? It just goes to show how popular those turn-based mecha-robot RPGs are in Japan!
Though it's a shame that the PS3's biggest hitter of the year couldn't stay on top for just a little longer...
Kotaku's Stephen Totilo was recently interviewed by the New York Times for the paper's weekend story on Metal Gear Solid 4. Totilo brought up a very interesting point regarding the sadness and tragedy of Metal Gear Solid 4 and why it's so rare for games to stir such emotions in gamers.

If you have ever been to Japan you would have noticed the abundace of popular Gaming Arcades scattered around the cities. You would also have noticed that a large majority of the Arcade Machines are made by Konami. So what better way to promote the recently released Metal Gear Solid 4 than to have it appear at the start of every game on every Konami Arcade Machine? Brilliant marketing strategy.
"Gamestation exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4 watch.
Only 500 units available worldwide, individually numbered 1 to 500 with a Konami certificate of authenticity and approved by Hideo Kojima.
Watch Gift box with MGS 4 print, black flock interior with matching cushion, Gamestation branding and black card exterior box with silver MGS 4 stamped logo.
This very limited and worldwide exclusive item will be £99.99 and a must have for all true Metal Gear Solid fans."
"Oddly, its something of an accurate send off thats true to the rest of the series. It embodies the era of gaming in which it was first conceived. But old times and everything that once stood as grand and mighty within them ultimately slip away as distant memories of what was once common and accepted. For all your shortcomings Old Snake, you will always remain an old and timeless symbol of heroism. But like like all legends, you exist better in memory."
"After a few days I called him up to check in, make sure he hadn't gone down the rabbit hole of virtual unreality. I asked him what he thought of the game.
"I think," he said slowly, "that they need to decide if they want to make a game or make a movie."
Had he given up, I asked. No, he hadn't done that, instead he had buckled down and muscled forward, enjoying a lot of what he had experienced.
I told him I had suggested the game because I thought he would like the themes of military ..."
Bad news for European MGS fans. It looks like the Metal Gear Solid Database is exclusive to the Japanese and North American Playstation Store.
For anyone unfamiliar with the database, it's a "free, downloadable interactive application that contains the official knowledge base of everything that is Metal Gear, reaching all the way back to the very beginning of the franchise."
... An odd choice, considering it's free.
So if you were looking forward to brushing up on your MGS knowledge,...
On the software side of things, Metal Gear Solid 4 leads the pack for this week, selling over 460,000 units! Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit are in second and third. If we sail on over to the hardware sales, the PS3 leads the sales, with the PSP in second.

But what will it include ? :

"As expected Metal Gear Solid 4 has rocketed to the top of the All Formats All Prices video game chart, knocking Activision's LEGO Indiana Jones down to No.2 and GTA 4 down to No.3
1: METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS
2: LEGO INDIANA JONES: ORIGINAL ADVENTURES
3: GRAND THEFT AUTO IV
4: MARIO & SONIC AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES
5: DR KAWASHIMA'S BRAIN TRAINING"
Most of us know about the product placements in Metal Gear 4, but what about the partnership with Playboy? It appears Kojima is a proud supporter of porn, as you can, as old Snake (and I do mean old) look at back issues to "boost your psyche." Well, I'm sure he reads it for the articles.
Metal Gear is no stranger to images of "sultry beauties" of course, so it fits well enough.
The magazines can also be used as a weapon. Read on.
"The launch of the brilliant MGS4 is "only the beginning" of a rush of triple-A PS3-exclusives, says Sony's seemingly pleased VP of product marketing, Scott Steinberg
With some of the console's big titles like Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, GTA IV and Singstar now out the door, Steinberg paints a positive picture for PS3 owners for the rest of the year.
"This is only the beginning of an ongoing software avalanche for PS3 that includes titles such as LittleBigPlanet, SOCOM: Confrontation, Moto..."

Contrary to expectations, analysts are finding Grand Theft Auto IV hasn't spurred sales of consoles. This is described as "baffling", with one analyst saying "this is likely due to the exclusivity factor as exclusive releases on Sony's platforms have historically shown to be a better hardware driver than that of multi-platform releases."
Great game, to be sure, but myself, I've got a ton of reasons not to pick up either asap. What are your reasons for not picking up an Xbox or PS3 for GTA?
"This week's charts, with data taken from June 12th, 2008, find Metal Gear Solid 4 leading worldwide PS3 software sales, while Lego Indiana Jones continues to do brisk multiplatform business in its second week of release. Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded.
This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on t..."
"Metal Gear Solid 4 will drive more PS3 hardware sales than the mighty GTA IV did, say industry analysts, despite GTA IV having been the biggest-selling entertainment launch in the history of the universe.
Sales of PS3 are up 150 percent over last year and, according to Eedar's Jesse Divnich, this storming success will continue, and even accelerate, with the release of Konami's blockbuster.
"Sony's PlayStation 3 can claim a relative small victory as its hardware unit sales were up 150% ..."
IGN gave one of it's last perfect scores to Soul Caliber in 1999. Then came along GTA:IV, not two months ago now, which also received a perfect score on both consoles.
As you will all probably already know, MGS4 was released yesterday, and so now many sites which refused to review the game, with the limitations put on pre-release reviews, such as IGN US, have finally gotten round to posting one, and guess what ?

The May 2008 NPD numbers have been recently released, and by the looks of it, the numbers overall were below people's expectations, with hardware and software numbers decreasing since last month. "During the 9-minute or so loading screen of Metal Gear Solid IV, gamers are treated to a close up view of old Snake sucking through cigarette after cigarette as game tips, warnings and public service announcements pop-up on the screen. The first couple of times Snake taps his cigarette ash onto the unseen ground an message shows up telling you not to litter and to use an ashtray for..."

MGS4: Guns of the Patriots
Review
Sure to inspire just as much love, hate, discussion, and debate as any other game in the series.
Discard silly rumors that say the Japanese aren't interested in MGS4, because the hundreds of people lining up for the launch of the game will gladly say otherwise!
Today, hundreds of people in Tokyo and Osaka queued at the front of game stores for hours, waiting for the doors to open and for the game to be released. Take a look at the groups of Japanese business men who will be late for work just to get MGS4 early!
With the release of Metal Gear Solid 4 comes the mad rush from businesses to profit from it. And Japanese clothing chain Uniqlo is no different. They have recently put some MGS4 themed shirts up for sale. Judging by the images, it looks like they're just obscure enough to not infringe on copyright laws too.
"The storyline that's finally wrapping up in MGS4 has spanned six games and 20 years, so things have understandably gotten a little ... convoluted along the way. The series has seen some of the most oddly codenamed characters outside of G.I. Joe and more story twists than can be found crumpled up in M. Night Shyamalan's waste basket.
For those of you heading into MGS4 fresh - or have simply lost track of who's who and what's what along the way (we wouldn't blame you) - we present this pain..."
As you may have known, Konami were going to host Metal Gear Solid 4 launch events around the world.
But after the Akihabara stabbings that recently took place, Konami decided to cancel their Japanese launch events in respect for the people who died in the tragedy and "for the safety of participants".
We've already seen some of the product-placements in Metal Gear Solid 4 including iPods, clocks and Japanese health drinks.
But when MGS fans finally play MGS4 they might notice the abundance of Sony products. Naomi and Vamp use Sony Erricson phones, Otacon mentions how great the PS3 and Blu-Ray is, and now Sunny owns a PSP. Yep, MGS4 sure loves Sony.
The Metal Gear Solid series is well-known for it's unique and interesting bosses. From a weirdo who can control bees, to a buxom blonde sniper with a thing for wolves, to a seemingly-invincible bisexual vampire... MGS has every type of odball imagineable up against poor Snake and Raiden.
Here's a list of the insane bosses of Metal Gear Solid.
(For a funny little twist, read the article to find out why Rosemary and a ladder make the list) ...
Metal Gear Solid 4 has been recieving some fantastic reviews lately. Just take a look at Metacritic and you will see that the average rating of the game is 93/100.
The main complaint with MGS4 is that it might not meet every fan's expectations. But that's only natural for a game as well hyped as this one.
But nevertheless, the general consensus is that most players will have a great time with MGS4.
Here's a look at what various reviewers had to say...
Metal Gear Solid 4 director Hideo Kojima has voices his frustrations over the ever-increasing casual gaming market before. He's worried that hardcore gamers are being forgotten and that developers only care about creating cheap and easy games to make a quick buck. So Kojima has taken it upon himself to please the hardcore fans, but he is worried that there aren't enough games like Metal Gear Solid 4 to keep hardcore gamers happy.
It's a concern that has been voiced by many developers and p...
"Konami look set to announce that the ultimate Metal Gear Solid experience, MGS for the PSOne, will be making its way to Sony's Playstation Network sometime in the next month, after the launch of Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns Of The Patriots. Along with further rumours that they are also planning to launch a software update with MGS4 to include cross media bar integration and those infamous trophies, it seems this is another rumoured aspect of the MGS saga.
The series has always been rumoured to..."
MGS4 is just round the corner but is a new Metal Gear game already in the works? The rumors of more MG games have so far been just that - rumors. But according to Russian site StarSniper and a member of Playstation.com forums the next game will be titled Metal Gear 3: Revolver Ocelot and will be coming to the PSP.
The rumors state it will be revealed at E3
We've heard that ebay stores have been selling Metal Gear Solid 4 early, and recently Wal-Mart has done the same. It's happening all around the world now - MGS4's street date is being broken everywhere, despite Konami's assurace that it won't be.
Now, a store in Kuwait has stacks of MGS4 copies just waiting to be sold early. They might be a little more expensive than the average PS3 game, but they're being snapped up quickly by eager MGS fans who don't mind paying extra just to play the ga...
Who doesn't love it when Metal Gear Solid characters break the "fourth wall"? It always gives the games a fun and unique sense of humor. Remember when Psycho Mantis read our Memory Cards in MGS1, then asked us how we were liking other Konami games such as Castlevania? Ah, good memories.
Well that humor is back in MGS4. Here is a brief codec scene beween Snake and Otacon discussing the greatness of PS3 and Blu-Ray ...

It's pretty obvious what the big name release for this week is. The hype and sheer quantity of news bits we have been assaulted with over the past couple of weeks is simply quite astounding. To not give this game top billing probably would have had me burnt at the stake.
That said, there are a couple other noteworthy games releasing this week. Consider this as my personal plug for the shoot-em-up Blast Works, and the detective adventure Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles.

A video has been uploaded that shows how the ingame Ipod is used in MGS4, Fingers crosses for some kind of MP3-PS3 functionality here.
Only the first 14 seconds shows the iPod, so turn of then if you don't want gameplay spoiled
"Despite the measurements taken by any publisher, high-profile games always seem to have one store, if not more, break their legal street date. This had been the case with many games before Metal Gear Solid 4 and it will be the case with many following it. This week, a couple of Wal-Marts were reported to have sold the Metal Gear Solid 80GB PS3 bundles up to a week before the scheduled release of the title on June 12.

Metal Gear fans weren't too happy to discover that Metal Gear Solid 4 had an 8 minute installation time as well as 2-3 minutes of installation between acts. So what has Konami done to alleviate some of that painful 8 minute wait? They've added a lovely little video for you to watch in the menntime ...
Very minor spoiler:
Konami seem to be running out of ideas when it comes to marketing Metal Gear Solid 4. They have recently announced a special "bonus" for their Japanese fans. If you buy a copy of MGS4, you will get a bonus ... shopping bag. Yes, you will recieve one of those environmentally-friendly canvas shopping bags with a picture of Snake's face on the front.
How ... special?
As you may have noticed, Amazon.com has been down on and off today.
Gaming sites and fans have speculated that the Metal Gear Solid 4 limited edition is to blame. The site soon crashed after the limited edition of the game was put up for sale, which was then followed by an insane amount of customers rushing to order a copy before they were sold out. Apparently the thousands of copies sold out in mere minutes - causing Amazon's American site to crash.
The Metal Gear series has been going for a long time, and during that time there have been many MANY awkward moments... listening to a certain 'guard' peeing in MGS2 comes to mind... however this article is only for the top 5 of those awkward moments... let's take a look at the top 5 list:

4) Homoerotic Sword Fighting

Poor Kojima can't make up his mind. First he said that MGS4 would be his last Metal Gear Solid game, then he hinted that a MGS4 sequel was in the works, then assistant producer Ryan Payton said there wouldn't be a direct sequel but another Metal Gear game eventually would be made, then Kojima restated that he is thinking about making MGS5.
Now he has confirmed that he will be staying on board for the next Metal Gear Solid game, but he won't be in charge of it. Yes, he said "Metal Gear SOLID....
"UK general manager for Konami Pete Stone made the statements to MCV following continued controversy at retail that saw Wii Fit drop out of the All-Format Charts due to stock deficiencies, plus the well-publicised cases of broken street dates for Grand Theft Auto IV.
Stone also commented on stock for the triple-A title: With demand for MGS4 at such a high level, I am delighted to confirm that we are continually manufacturing stock to meet the phenomenal demand. We want to make sure that e..."
Most MGS fans would know about the "Beauty and the Beast" unit (comprising of Laughing Octopus, Raging Raven, Crying Wolf, and Screaming Mantis) that will be appearing in Metal Gear Solid 4, but not many of us know the details of these characters or what their battles will be like. IGN takes a look at the newest and - in their opinion - the most exciting Metal Gear Solid bosses yet.

Yesterday it was reported that a man in the UK by the name of "Paul" had got his hands on a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4. He then proceeded to post multiple spoilers in various MGS4 forums.
But according to Konami, this can't be true. They are keeping tabs on every major retailer that has the game and made them all sign an agreement not to release MGS4 before it's street date. Konami doesn't believe it's possible that copies of MGS4 has already been released.
Tell that to the people who got...
Assistant producer of Metal Gear Solid 4 Ryan Payton has announced that everyone who buys a copy of the game will get a special "surprise".
Nobody knows what it is, not even people who have leaked copies of the game will figure it out!
We all know about Metal Gear Solid 4's reviewing restrictions that has spawned a humongous amount of press coverage. Well, Kojima Productions Assistant Producer, Ryan Payton has decided to make things a bit more clearer regarding what exactly was covered by the NDA:

With Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots being one of the most awaited games of the year, Konami has decided to host launch events at three different locations - New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles - on June 11th, minutes before D-Day where the game will be released(except San Fran which will host June 14th).
At the three events, talent such as the creator of the series, Hideo Kojima, and the voice of Solid Snake, David Hayter, will appear.
It's true... reviewing Metal Gear Solid 4 appears to be a madmans job, because if you review it with anything other than a 10/10 you will (and I mean you WILL) be set upon by angry MGS4 fans who even without playing the game, have given it a 10/10 rating in their minds. Here's an example of what I mean. People actually think a reviewer can't review the game, because they gave it 8/10... hmmm...
However, let's switch over to PSM3... it has been called by a few as "The best MGS4 review" avai...

Earlier today it was revealed that Metal Gear Solid 4's street date had been broken, and that there was a man in the UK by the name of "Paul" who had bought a copy of the game.
It looks like "Paul" didn't only want to brag about recieving a copy of the game in MGS4 forums... He decided to spoil the ENTIRE GAME, including the name of every single Patriot.
Us Metal Gear Solid fans feel for the poor souls who were spoiled.
So we've all heard about the rumor that some of Metal Gear Solid 4's cutscenes will be 90 minutes long? Well we finally have confirmation and it appears that the rumor is false.
In a strange move from Kojima Productions, they have finally revealed that there are no 90 minute long cutscenes in MGS4. Strange in the sense that assistant-producer Ryan Payton says: "I'm surprised nobody has stepped forward to debunk this rumor" ... well, Payton, nobody said anything because your company restric...
IGN UK gave Metal Gear Solid 4 a 9.9/10.
Now IGN Australia has reviewed the game and they were thoroughly impressed, giving it a 9.5/10.
IGN Au's only complaints regarded Lasting Appeal and Gameplay. They didn't neccessarily think those aspects were bad, just not as "polished" as they could have been.
Overall though, they were very impressed with the game.

On a recent Yahoo! Japan poll, the question "are you interested in the game (MGS4)? was asked to the Japanese gaming public.
The poll is only small at the moment... A mere 665 people have currently voted, but over 60% of them either had no interest in the game or had no intentions of buying it at all.
The poll is still open and more people have voted since Kotaku reported, but the results have stayed relatively the same.

It's always nice to see big news companies talking about the gaming industry ... when they have good gaming news to deliver, that is. Margaret Robertson, of BBC News, recently came across an image of Hideo Kojima in her favorite magazine. She was so intrigued that she decided to take a look into gaming and how it is gaining a "celebrity status".

Posts have appeared from a gamer going by the name of Paul-H-UK who claims to have a copy of the game in his possession and has photos to prove it. He's posted numerous pictures over in the official PlayStation Forums of the game in various states of undress, including images of it playing on a TV.

What's Sony's fatal mistake in their poor launch and poor sales? Loot Ninja narrows the option down to the fact that they discontinued the 80GB Playstation 3's. Maybe they'll boost at the 80GB Metal Gear Solid 4 Bundle? Maybe they've lost to towards the gamers that bought the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV. Who knows? We won't unless we rewind back to the release of the PS3.
With the recent news surrounding Metal Gear Solid 4 about Konami restricting reviewers on what they can reveal in their reviews, it seems to have come to light that not all of the reviewers had any restrictions put on them.
Editors of Game Informer and Playstation: The Official Magazine were two who were not asked to keep quiet about any bit of the game that they played. Could the review by PTOM reveal exactly what was asked of the others to be kept quiet?
There has been conflicting news when it comes to Metal Gear Solid 4's runtime. OPM said that the gameplay is only 10-13 hours long while Paul Fitzpatrick (the man behind the first MGS4 review) revealed that total gameplay time is around 20 hours long. (not including the 9 hours of cutscenes).
So that puts Metal Gear Solid 4's runtime at a rough estimate of 10-20 hours long, depending on how you choose play it. Sounds like it will be as long as a typical MGS game. Good news for fans ...
"With Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots due out next week, the PlayStation 3s install base and lack of TV marketing for the game may hinder sales, according to Newsweeks NGai Croal.
According to Croal, Metal Gear Solid 4s mechanics makes it a better game than Assassins Creed, but pointed out that MGS4 may fall behind in marketing.

"Metal Gear Solid 4 is a masterpiece, arguably the best in the series and though many will fiercely disagree ever so slightly disappointing. About 40% through, our notepad was scarred with breathless superlatives like 'Genius', 'Amazing' and 'Wow!!!' but by the game's conclusion, they'd given way to considered criticism and stark cries of 'WTF?'. What more could you want but for Piggyback Interactive, the authors of the MGS4 Guide, themselves to give you tips regarding Metal Gear Solid 4? The first thing to note is that this article is FULL of spoilers, and so you should read only at your own peril. In short the top 12 tips relate to:
Various rumours have begun regarding the reviews of Metal Gear Solid 4 that have begun to surface, and the rumours are that they're fake. Taking the brung of this is Eurogamer.net and EDGE magazine, which have given MGS4 8/10. That's a rating that long time fans of the series have decided not to acknoledge due to it being so low, not believing it, to the lengths that some have even gone as far as stating
Hideo Kojima descended to London this past weekend where he and lead artist for the MGS series were present at the Oxford branch of HMV to sign 300 Pre-order sleeves for MGS4 in preparation for the games launch. Take a look at the screenshots from the event below courtesy of PS3 Fanboy.
"If you haven't played all of the games in the series, there's every chance that some of it will leave you feeling slightly adrift and a bit confused. Heck, even if you've been following every labyrinthine twist and Byzantine turn of the story so far, there's every chance it will leave you pretty confused. That's because with each new game in the series, the story so far has got more elaborate, more complex, and more convoluted, to the extent that trying to make sense of it all is a bit like h..."
Gameguru have listed 20 random things about MGS4 that you may not have noticed (or known at all). Most of these facts are taken straight from the recent OPM review and the Theatrical trailer.
If you are not willing to be spoiled so close to the game's release, then do not click on the source. The facts listed in this article are the least-spoilery ones.
SPOILERS BELOW:
Japan sure know how to advertise their video games. Here are a few photos of Tokyo's popular Shibuya district, showing the enormous Metal Gear Solid 4 advertisments and posters that have been scattered across the area.
Those ones as tall as skyscrapers would certainly attract attention!
As you may have heard, Konami have placed limitations on what reviewers can and can't talk about regarding Metal Gear Solid 4. (According to Kotaku, the length of cutscenes and installation size aren't the only things that reviewers are forbidden to discuss. Apparently there is a rather long list of 'forbidden topics').
With these limitations in place, EGM magazine has refused review MGS4, claiming that the limitations will prevent them from providing a truthful opinion on the game.
How...
Someone on XMBonline believes that not everyone can review a Metal Gear Solid game. He/she believes that the review for Eurogamer did not appreciate the 'core value' of the franchise and believes the negatives(long loading cutscenes) are more of a 'blessing than a curse'. He/she says that only hardcore gamers should be able to review it properly in their perspective, rather than a casual gamer.
SonyStyle has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle you've been anticipating. The bundle contains an 80GB Playstation 3, the game, obviously and a controller, priced at $499.99 and available sometime in June.
We've been getting steady amount of rumours this past week about the in-game XMB and it seem like we have yet another rumour has now come to light...
At first it was rumoured that version update 2.4 would be released before Metal Gear Solid 4, and the update would contain both trophies and in-game XMB, and the PS3's upcoming game PixelJung Eden has also been shown to support the new trophy system.
Well, PlaystationLifeStyle.net have managed to get insider information and confirm the re...
MTV recently posted a blog which mentioned restrictions Konami Digital Entertainment put on the reviewers of MGS 4. Usually only plot-related things are kept secret, but this time some technical things were included on the list, specifically the cutscene length and the installation size. No one knows why Konami wants to keep these things a secret, but MTV has a guess: "Such details wouldnt have been plot spoilers, but perhaps the publisher was concerned that they would be viewed as negatives?"
IGN UK have pretty much backed up everything we expected and hoped for, and have written a simply gleaming review for Metal Gear Solid 4, with an equally impressive score. It is relatively low on details, as apparently Konami have forbidden certain topics from being directly addressed. However, what we do learn from the interview is that cutscenes make up around half of the game - maybe those 90-min stories weren't exaggerations after all? Regardless, this looks to be the killer app that PS3 ...
The latest issue of Famitsu magazine has revealed two more characters joining the Metal Gear Solid 4 crew.
Mei-Ling (from MGS1) has returned as a Navy officer. She will play a much larger role than she did in the original MGS.
Rosemary (from MGS2) has returned as Solid Snake's "psychological councellor" and will offer Snake advice on dealing with stress through the codec... Can anyone see the irony there?

I would give yo some scans but i aint got a scanner but really its true..... Pretty amazing screens to, Jungle and all that stuff.... amazing"
"The first images of the European limited edition of Metal Gear Solid 4 have sneaked out, and it looks like a box with some pictures on it. A nice box with some pictures on it, but there we are. The shots are here and here."
The 90-minute-long cutscene rumor in Metal Gear Solid 4 just won't be put to rest.
Yesterday CVG announced that the game will have 90 minute long cutscenes, though Gamepro editor Sid Shuman was quick to debunk the rumor.
But it seems as though that hasn't quelled fan's fears of sitting through movie-length cutscenes.
As mentioned in the article... both CVG and Sid have played the game, so why are they saying different things?
Some fans have taken Shuman's word for it, while others ar...
"From CVG today comes a pretty wild rumor about Metal Gear Solid 4: the penultimate title in the Solid Snake series will feature rather lengthy cutscenes.
How lengthy? Try 90 minutes. And that's not 90-minutes in total, that's a 90-minute cutscene.
Trouble is, it's not entirely accurate. Will MSG4 have lengthy cutscenes, like the 45-minute one in MGS2? Yes, says GamePro's own Sid Shuman, but nowhere near 90 minutes.
"I've beat the game twice, and am the author of the forthcoming [Game..."
It was recently revealed that Metal Gear Solid 4 will have 9 hours worth of cutscenes. To any MGS fan, that's nothing. They're used to the numerous cinematics that appear in the series.
But were you expecting some of them to last for 90 minutes? Yes, some of MGS4's cutscenes will be as long as a full-length movie!
And not just one or two ... There are apparently quite a handful of cutscenes that run for 90 minutes straight.
Konami recently hinted that a sequel to MGS4 might be on the way, though associate producer Ryan Payton later confirmed that a direct sequel to MGS4 would be almost impossible as it tied up every loose end in Solid Snake's story.
Well it looks like Kojima can't put Snake's story to rest. In a recent interview with Famitsu magazine, he revealed that he is already thinking about a possible sequel to MGS4.
Yes, even though Kojima said that MGS4 would be his last entry into the series, it wo...
"You can spot loads of cool features going on - see Snake in one shot using the SixAxis to control a small droid, or Snake dressed in the Altair (of Assassin's Creed fame) costume. There even seems to be some sort of bike race going on in there."
"Konami has temporarily ceased taking pre-orders on the Metal Gear Solid 4 hardware bundle, after a US deal launched on the official site yesterday went belly up.
Eager fans hoping to get hold of the limited-edition Gunmetal PS3 bundle, sold exclusively through the official online Konami Store, were greeted to "503 errors", according to Kotaku, who described the ordeal as "a cluster*bleep* of massive proportions".
The Store works at the moment. But it says the allocated pre-order stock ..."
It was recently announced that the Metal Gear Solid "Steel/Gunmetal" PS3 would be released in Japan, America and Europe.
But it looks like Britain will be missing out on this one.
Today a Konami spokesperson announced that "no bundles other than the limited edition Play.com figurine set have been planned for the UK."
No news on whether it will arrive in Australia either. Does Konami even know Australia exists?
Metal Gear Solid 4's Associate Producer, Ryan Payton, announced that the Metal Gear games will be continuing after MGS4, just without Solid Snake.
Payton revealed that, even if Kojima came back to the MG series and wanted to bring back Solid Snake, it would be impossible due to MGS4 tying up every loose end in Solid Snake's story.
Fans were expecting this, but having it confirmed is the final nail in the coffin.

Kojima's right hand men discuss replayability, customizing weapons and the bonus Blu-Ray disc in the collectors edition.
Dailygame.net's Phillip Volmer gives his final impressions on the PS3's Metal Gear Solid Online Beta. According to the story, the gameplay is good, the levels are well detailed, the controls are supposedly easy to get used to. However, Metal Gear Solid's online play isn't expected to overtake the likes of COD4 anytime soon, but MGS fans should love it all the same.
At the recent Konami press conference, Metal Gear Solid director Hideo Kojima gave a speech about the completion of Metal Gear Solid 4, but he also used it as a chance to comment on the current state of the video-game industry and the uprising of casual gamers over hardcore gamers.
Kojima also admitted that Western devs have surpassed Japanese devs (including himself). Yes, believe it or not, Kojima can be modest.
Rumours are currently circulating that Kojima might be planning MGS5, but in a recent interview with the UK edition of PSM magazine he expressed interest in developing Zone of the Enders 3, saying it might be good to change to outer space, or robots, or things like that.
With the recent release of the "Theatrical" trailer, the "opening 10 minutes" gameplay video and TV spots of REGAIN, Logan, the company behind the iPod ads, have released 5 trailers for PMC corporations featured in-game which have been airing in Japan recently.

Yes, you read the title correctly.
Gamevideos have got their hands on the first ten minutes of Metal Gear Solid 4.
Naturally, there are going to be spoilers. Watch it at your own risk.
Konami has released some new ads for the release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The ads contain real world items that will be seen in the game and iPods might be apart of that.
Remember that April fools gag Ubisoft and Kojima put together a few months ago? It involved a gameplay trailer of Solid Snake going about his regular duties in MGS4 but dressed in the same garb worn by Altair in Assasins Creed. However this was not just a one time thing, this costume will actually be unlockable in the game. Now you can cleanse the Holy Land with a M16!
The Big Boss rumor has reared it's head again.
This time, he has apparently appeared in a Metal Gear Solid 4 teaser that was played in Paris recently.
Is it a real picture? Or a fake?
Is it even Big Boss? Or will Solid Snake ironically lose his eye at some point in the game?
Perhaps it's only a flashback?
I guess we'll find out on June the 12th.
"Retail sources have informed us today that the Australian market will not be seeing the release of the Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 bundle that was announced in February. The bundle in the US will include a limited edition 'hagane' coloured 80GB PS3, a Dual Shock 3 controller and, of course, a copy of MGS 4, all for $US 499.99.
Sources also told us that the recently released GTA IV 40GB bundle didn't fair so great in Australia on release, which may have influenced the decision (although that bun..."
The Metal Gear Solid 4 Limted Edition will be available in PAL regions. It will cost £79.99, and come with the following:
A trailer from the glory years of the franchise with footage from the very first MGS to sequels and even spin-offs. Near the end is a small footage of the new MGS4 game, and Snake's dream that he keeps having.
Remember this? But wait, what's this? Kojima now says that he is quite satisfied with MGS4. Though that's what everyone expected him to say about MGS4 which is going to be quite a good game, that expectation was blown apart. Is he trying to remedy his not-so-wise words?
"Here’s a joke: Did you hear the one about Uwe Boll directing a movie version of the acclaimed video game series “Metal Gear Solid”? So did Uwe Boll – only he’s not laughing.
“This was an absurd story,” Boll told MTV News about how his name got attached and then removed from a cinematic adaptation. “Two French guys wrote a script, said they are from Konami hired to write the script, said ‘You wanna direct it?’ I read the script, I liked the script. I said, ‘Yes, I can do it.’”

This is a new trailer release of Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4, though it is in Japanese it offers you a new lot of video clips including an even better look into the character designs and environments included in the game.
BBFC has revealed the running time for the game, Metal Gear Solid 4, exclusive to the Playstation 3 which is set to be released in the US and Europe on Friday June 12th. Another known fact was stated in this brief article that the game is rated '15'. Go to the source to view the run time. Do you think the running time is too long or too short?
The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) have given Metal Gear Solid 4 a rating of 15+
Although the reasoning for the rating might surprise some people... Naturally, the game has been given such a rating due to the violence and strong language. But it has also been tagged for having references to child rape!
Here's the catch though: Kojima Productions' Ryan Payton said that 'there is no mention of rape in the game'.
In fact, Payton said that there is only one scene in MGS4 that m...
""When we first showed the game engine at TGS, the staff were really proud and happy. PS3 was a dream machine, y'know, and we were going to work on this and that - and we had so many ideas. But when we actually started developing the game, we realized there were a lot of restrictions and so it turned out how you see it today. The original vision was to go ten steps further, the reality was just one step, which isn't to say we didn't progress."

So far, it has been announced that the Steel PS3 will be released in Japan as well as North America. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe still doesn't know for sure if the folks at SCEJ are going to send any Gunmetal PS3 systems to Europe, but they don't want to deny it.
For those that have been living in a rock the past few days, the Steel/Gunmetal colored PS3 package will come in a bundle with a Steel colored 40GB PS3, a Dualshock3 of the same color, and MGS4 of course!
"Aussie gamers will be able to take part in the beta test for Metal Gear Online very, very soon. The new look PlayStation Store goes live tomorrow, on April 15, and a fresh batch of content will be downloadable from the 17th including the MGO beta.
Two maps will be included with the beta: Blood Bath and Groznyi Grad. The latter, adapted from the setting for Metal Gear Solid 3, will include man-cannons for launching players through the multi-level environment."
Normally I wouldn't post about something so trivial but decided to do this just for the WTF comments. Apparently the MGS4 headset recently labeled fake here is actually real. The very same headset appearing in catalogs and websites all over the world. So I guess people will be able to get there hands on this trivial piece of merchandise after all. Personally I don't know what all the fuss is over
"The writer of design blog ProsumeThis says this Metal Gear Solid 4 headset he designed is real, in production, will cost $60, is officially licensed and will be available on June 12, same as the game. While I'd love to believe him, I don't, but that doesn't make the design any less pleasing on the eye."

Kojima is working on a new game outside the Metal Gear Solid series. Nothing as of yet is revealed about this game only that it's got nothing to do with the MGS series.
President Fumiaki Tanaka has told us that a formal announcement won't be making it this year too. Although more about the title will be revealed once Kojima completes writing the title's scenario but this won't happen until MGS4 is released and after MGSO gets a huge push.
This would indeed be interesting and a sign that either you're a huge fan of Metal Gear Solid... Or you just have $60 US lying around and just want a cool Bluetooth headset. This hasn't been confirmed yet, but it's still out there and even though the images look convincing enough that this might be true, I'm not really willing to say it's anything more than a rumor at this point. For those of you who are interested in the specs, the highlights are:
- 8 hrs talk time
- 160 hrs standby

That's right folks... you heard me right. We (and by this I mean those of us in Europe) will be getting the Metal Gear Online Beta for free, and without the need to pre-order like our American counterparts. A definite good news for those that were wondering if we'd ever get it. As for when it starts, and how long it lasts...
Well, we all know that the Playstation Store will sport a new look coming this tuesday, and on the thursday, one of the updates to the store will be the MGO Beta. Avai...
There's one thing we need to get cleared... by reading your mind with Metal Gear Solid, I don't mean by giving you a great game that gamers wanted - it was a great game, no doubt about it, but those that played the game will remember one of the boss battles, and specifically I'm talking about the one against Psycho Mantis... for those that don't, let me tell you....
Psycho Mantis, as the first part of his name may suggest was Psychic (and a Psycho),and could hence read your mind (hence th...

"Metal Gear?! Such an exclamation will no doubt emanate from a friend's mouth as he steps into your extravagant living room and gazes upon a "Gunmetal Grey" PlayStation 3. Konami's Brandon Laurino has confirmed on the official PlayStation Blog that this "VERY, VERY Limited Edition" system will be available in North America as part of a special Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle. You may recall caressing its steel-colored curves (in your mind) back when it was unveiled as the 40GB 'Hagane' model in Japan."
It's become somewhat of a tradition now to sell two versions of the top-selling games. One version is the normal one, and the other is a 'limited edition' which is in no ways limited, besides the fact that it may limit you from buying you it, since it's slightly more pricey - however usually the extra dollars/pounds/currency you'll use to buy this game are well worth it. However, is that the case with Metal Gear Solid 4?
With both games available on the 12th of June 2008 (exclusively at Ga...
New details have been revealed by the EDGE magazine. It's revealed that Kojima might want to produce for the future of the Metal Gear series and not direct, but as far as Snake goes it's over. Strong words from Kojima.
It's also said that there will one big bang in the final game that will blow you away. Fans can only speculate what this is.
There is a really large list of the new details at the source, make sure you check it out, but I would like to say that the article also said that ...
With the release coming closer and closer, we're getting more and more information on Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and well, here's another bit of information that's been released - the European Packshot. Similar to the formatting of the previous EU boxes, it shows us a sketch-style image of Snake. Along with that we've got two images... (im still trying to find the other two promised in the source article...)
80's TV hunk, Tom Selleck, known for such hit shows as Magnum P.I. has an uncanny resemblance to Konami's, Solid Snake. A user by the name of Brianemone has done a MGS4 coverart with Mr. Selleck. I have to admit, it looks pretty cool. I know i'd play it. Where can I get my hands on MGSelleck 1 through 3? Enjoy the boxart!
The Metal Gear Solid 4 boxart has been sighted. Featured on Amazon, the PS3 retail cover art features none other than good "old" Snake in all his geriatric glory. He may be old, but he can still accomplish a mission.
IGN has provided us with a very informative article here. This is well worth the read and devoid of any even minor spoilers.
Most notably covered are the ease of controls, ability to play in first person mode throughout, the Drebin points system, differing environments, HUD and weapon customization, stealth vs action emphasis, depth of CQC, and last but not least the interesting difficulty setting names.
Also, make note that at the end of this article IGN says they look to continually ...
"Nestled in the snowy heart of Nasu, Japan, Konami and Kojima Productions recently held a secret "boot camp" where the companies showed off a nearly complete version of the anticipated PlayStation 3 action-epic Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Only a handful of gaming insiders were invited, but GamePro was there to get exclusive access to an enormous portion of the game. This is our report, complete with extensive hands-on impressions."
In a recent interview with IGN, Hideo Kojima discussed Metal Gear Solid 4 (naturally). Same old, same old, right? Kotaku thinks not! They found a very interesting little paragraph in which Kojima mentions his son's reactions to the Metal Gear Solid games. And, well, his words aren't exactly kind.
Hideo Kojima likes to dream. He likes to dream big. In fact, he's dreamt up a game so big that it's theoretically impossible because there's not enough space. Could Metal Gear Solid 4 be a case of a console failing developers?
The world may never know...
Holy freaking crap! This is amazing footage! Let me preface this by saying that this was an April Fools Day joke collaboration between both Konami and Ubisoft. It basically involves putting the Altair character model from Assassin's Creed into the MGS4 engine with all the moves and abilities of Snake but the flowing clothing etc of Altair (but Snakes face).
That's not the point though, there's some brand new gameplay footage to be seen here. At 3:16 prepare for your mind to be just blown....
Destructoid member ArrestedDeveloper blogs about obtaining the DVD titled 'Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2' which is obtained when you pre-order MGS4 for the PS3.
Some very nice artwork both on the case and disc make this DVD even more appealing. Getting your hands on one of these will also net you a beta key to the MGS4 Online beta. Good luck on finding one of these, however, as they seem a bit difficult to get (limited supplies).
Thats right, GamePro User's have all chosen Metal Gear Solid 4 as there most anticipated game for the Playstation 3 at the moment with a staggering 57.7% of the vote. Quite incredible that. In second place though follows Gran Turismo 5, third and fourth see the sequels of Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 whilst staggering in for fifth spot is LittleBigPlanet.
In addition to that I assume this is only for Playstation 3 exclusive games as many of you are probably pondering.. Where is GTA:IV! I t...
Konami have finally released information on the Limited Edition Version of Metal Gear Solid 4 that has been speculated for at least a year now. The Limited Edition Version will offer an additional Blu-Ray Disc which will have stored on it "2 Making of Documentaries of MGS4 Clips", "4 Chapters of the Graphic Novel" and the "Metal Gear Import Soundtrack CD". This has been priced at $84.99 and can be pre-ordered here.

Renowned Japanese magazine Famitsu just reported fans in Japan will be able to get a "steel" PS3 bundle, which will include Metal Gear Solid 4. No word on whether or not it'll make its way stateside.
Being released on June 12th, MGS4 is set in 2014, five years after the "Manhattan Incident" (the events of the Plant chapter from Metal Gear Solid 2), Metal Gear Solid 4 portrays a world where the restriction of military intervention on foreign soil has been eased, fueling the need for private military companies (PMCs) to fight proxy wars for business purposes. Nanotechnology has become prominent, both to enhance the capabilities and enforce the loyalty of mercenaries.
Hideo Kojima, MGS4's director, states that his vision for the game won't come to fruition due to limitations. Despite reports that MGS4 is too big for Blu Ray, he insists that Blu Ray has very little to do with his specific statements and it was a more general comment that what he envisioned simply isn't fully possible.
"This includes reading up about the series, viewing the franchise’s gorgeous artwork, pulling apart previously released trailers etc. During this time I was also in search for some Metal Gear propaganda and as I was searching around I stumbled upon this cool little Otacon clock widget for your desktop:

The sprites are taken from MGS2 (end of the Tanker chapter). As you move your cursor around Otacon follows it with his eyes, he also blinks as well. Very cute."
An exclusive interview with Hideo Koijima, the creator of the Metal Gear Solid series complains that 50GB is still not enough and have exceeded the capacity which led the team of developers to compress sections of the game to save disc space.
Kojima: I am not satisfied with the quality yet, however...there isn't enough space.
Interviewer: Not enough space..on..Blu-ray..?
Kojima: Yes.(laughs). Not enough space.
The recent issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly writes that Kojima Productions is using SIXAXIS' motion controls sparingly, to spice up the gameplay here and there, and not outstaying its welcome. Kojima's Payton also says the PS3's motion controls were over hyped.
Following the announcement of Metal Gear Solid 4's release date, Konami have confirmed that the title will be releasing simultaneously in all regions worldwide. Metal Gear Solid 4 will be sneaking onto PlayStation 3 game systems June 12th 2008.
The official Japanese website representing Metal Gear Solid 4 has officially been launched and it features a countdown, some movies and a cool wallpaper for all the MGS fans out there. For reassurance the release date is also up on the website (12th June).
We will most certainly see more updates added to the website as we come closer to the release date.
Whilst all we had to go on before was an image, we had already speculated on the game's release date. Well I have just about 30 minutes ago received an email which confirms the street date for Metal Gear Solid 4, which as we initially though will certainly be 12th June 2008. Belows the email im pretty much it's entireity.
So we've already heard of the possible June 12th release date for Metal Gear Solid 4, but what you may not know is that if you preorder MGS4, you'll have guaranteed entry into the Metal Gear Online beta set to hit late April.
It's rumor that the official release date is now scheduled for June 12, 2008 but in all honesty, I wouldn't get your hopes up just in case it ends up not happening. Even though I'm a huge MGS fan i've learned to just be patient and not jump all over every "leaked" or "rumored" release date. It'll get released eventually, there are no worries.
The bigger news to me is that Sony might be offering a new PS3 bundle which includes an 80GB PS3, MGS4, and a Dual Shock 3 controller all in one bo...
"More gasoline was added to the fire when MGS4 assistant producer Ryan Payton said in an interview with Reuters that in order for the game to be profitable, MGS4 would have to sell 1 million copies on the first day of its release. Fanboys, analysts, videogame editors, and forum jockeys were left scratching their heads wondering why MGS4 could only turn a profit if a million were sold on its release date. The fires of discussion continued to burn and and speculation raged on."
According to the UK's PSW magazine, the demo of Metal Gear Solid 4 that they got to play will come to the Playstation Store in February! This is great news, considering Kojima recently promised that MGS4 would go through no further delays. It lends some credibility to Kojima. Personally, I can't wait for it!
Yes, you read the title correctly. Metal Gear Solid 4 is almost complete and will soon be moving into the bug-testing stage.
According to Kojima Productions' Ryan Payton, Kojima was so ashamed that the game's release date slipped into 2008, he has now promised gamers that there will be no more delays and that PAL gamers can still look forward to a simultaneous release.
"According to the game gurus over at PunchJump, the game build presently on show at CES 2008, which showcases the same exterior warzone first seen at the E for All expo in August of 2007, is fluctuating between 30 and 60 frames per second depending on the intensity levels attributed to its on-screen action."
Develop has translated a piece in Japanese game magazine Famitsu, where Assassin's Creed producter Jade Raymond interviews the famous and Metal Gear Solid 4 director Hideo Kojima.
While the part that Develop translated seems a bit short, it highlights three topics discussed in the interview: the differences in culture and playstyle in both the Japanese and Western markets, his views on violence in games, and Assassin's Creed.

"TheGameReviews.com had the opportunity to speak with Konamis PR about this latest rumor, and unsurprisingly, Konami is baffled by claims that Metal Gear Solid 4 is going multiplatform. In a rush to get the word out, it seems that those who broke the story talked to everyone except Konami, who made this statement "For the record, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game." Nuff said.."
"Since the announcement of Metal Gear Online, its been left unclear whether or not it would be released as a standalone title or bundled together with Metal Gear Solid 4. Its only commonsense that the two should be paired together, but early talk didnt seem to suggest that they would be. Well, the January 08 issue of the new PlayStation: The Official Magazine (formerly PSM) was just dropped off in my mailbox headlined on the cover with exclusive confirmation that MGS4 and MGO are in fact b..."
"Hello everyone. When we last spoke, I posted some ads for PS3 third-party heavy hitters Assassins Creed and Call of Duty 4. Well, as promised, we have more up our sleeves and have a couple more spots to debut for you all before they officially air the week of November 19th.
Weve brought back the same pulsating music track (Salivas Ladies and Gentlemen) from our PS3 brand spots and feature games from our 3rd party friends like Burnout Paradise, WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008, Madden NFL 08,..."
Metal Gear Solid 4 was first scheduled to be released this winter then Q1 next year. Now unfortunately the game has been delayed yet again for Konami to further improve the quality of the game and provide even more enjoyment. Probably means they would like to add more side missions or anything optional, could mean anything really. Now that Konami is polishing MGS4 we all certainly hope that this game doesn't get delayed again once we get nearer to Q2.
"Producer Ryan Payton talks about the new features that will propel Metal Gear Solid into the next-gen era.
"We get a first hand look at the US translation for Solid Snake's final mission.
In a podcast called KP (Kojima Productions) hosted by Ryan Payton he interviews MGS4 producer Ken Imaizumi. Amongst things such as the new PSP they also talk about the English playable demo of Metal Gear Solid 4, which, will be playable at E For All 2007. Konami plans on having 12 PS3 kiosks set up with MGS4 for your playing enjoyment. The demo is the same which was shown at TGS tweaked a bit from the response by attendants of TGS.
Our very own VeGiTAX2 will be attending E For All so we'll...
In the recent Famitsu issue here are the top 20 games most wanted from Japan's biggest games magazine. It's a really interesting list as what dominates the list in being No.1 is Dragon Quest IX for the Nintendo DS and then followed by Final Fantasy XIII which was at No.1. Third place comes the highly anticipated Resident Evil 5. A list containing top notch games. Too bad only one game from 360 makes it.
"According to PS-Gamer.com, it seems Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be arriving in Europe before Easter, and even better, Sony and Konami are planning a "console-and-game" bundle, too! Yeah, this is the kind of thing the whole world wants, Sony, so while we're happy for our friends across the pond, don't you dare limit this bundle to one territory! In speaking to Spanish website MeriStation.com, SCEE vice-president James Armstrong apparently confirmed it:
We are working on a..."
The official TGS site of Konami states that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be released on the Playstation 3 as early as Winter 2007. Could our dreams comes true that we can be messing around with Snake in our grasp before the end of the year?
Well we knew it was coming, Tokyo Game Show and a new trailer of Metal Gear Solid 4, they really do go hand in hand. Ruliweb managed to video the trailer and put it on their site, however the site has since then gone down due to the imploded servers. Fortunately, we have gamersyde, and bittorrent.
Go to the source and take your pick on what version you want to view the trailer in, and enjoy.
UPDATE: Translation Added (Check The Screenshots Below)
Metal Gear Online, which until now has been shown as a separate product, has been confirmed to be bundled with Metal Gear Solid 4 for the Playstation 3. No word on whether or not it will be on two blu-ray discs or one.
"Hideo Kojima has confirmed that the PS3 Metal Gear Solid 4 will not be the last Metal Gear Solid game as the franchise will continue on.
Hideo Kojima was asked whether or not it would be hard to say goodbuy to the Metal Gear Solid franchise.
He stated that it would not be the end of the Metal Gear Solid franchise after Metal Gear Solid 4 on the PS3.
He stated that the Metal Gear Solid franchise would be the like James Bond franchise and continue on even without Snake.

"Video games have a long tradition of creating tough-as-nails protagonists that fight hordes of oncoming enemies. Still, few have been able to elevate themselves to true badass status. Sam Fisher and Solid Snake are two characters that have been known for years for their ability to strike fear into enemy NPOs and let gamers unleash their inner Special Ops soldier. However, there is only room at the top for one badass to rule them all. Myarcadeplanet is putting that power in your hands. Its..."
In the Electronic Gaming Monthly Magazine for October, Bryan Intihar overviews the differences from the Old Snake from Metal Gear Solid 3 and the New Snake of Metal Gear Solid 4. Intihar looks at the various differences including shooting and the online play. Which Snake is better is up to you, but hear Intihar out first.
At the Metal Gear Solid 4 press conference, Hideo Kojima letting a little go where there is a possibility that you might be able to play your own custom soundtrack while playing the game. Also, Kojima mentioned that Metal Gear Solid 4 would feature only partial online play, while Metal Gear Solid Online will be sold separately. No one is completely sure how much partial is, but we'll see when it releases.

Well with the new sneak peek of Metal Gear Solid 4, we've all been left wondering, who on earth are those people !
Well in answer to your question, those are the 4 new bosses of the game - and there all WOMEN ! ... Not only that, but if you look at their names, Metal Gear Solid fans may see something rather familiar about them ...
The European PSN Store has been updated with a number of new additions. The exclusive Folklore playable demo is now available to download, but for a limited time only. The update also includes a number of trailers from the Games Convention in Leipzig.
"Here are some new images from the closed beta showing off more of Metal Gear Online on the PS3. Featuring characters, stages, and the same control scheme as found in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4, this reloaded MGO experience packs in additional environments, game modes, and team-based multiplayer mayhem to make this the ultimate online companion to MGS4."
"The lucky bastards who signed up for the Metal Gear Online Beta successfully are now starting to receive their invitations to download the software on their PS3. Of course, only Japan applicants are actually being picked, and those who slyly managed to sneak in their non-japanese applications havent received invites, meaning they were probably denied. Or at least, they better be. And yes, I am being a hater."
A new Preview of Metal Gear Solid 4 is up from Chris Scott of Hooked Gamers. According to the article, the game is looking to live up to expectations. According to the preview, MGS4 will cater to FPS fans by allowing the player to switch to First-Person mode and keep it that way for the duration of the game if they wish. The writer also states that the game borrowed a few elements from Gears of War, such as the action commands and grenade mechanics.
"According to Play, Hideo Kojima has some surprises lined up for us at this month's Leipzig Gaming Convention. Not only will there be a playable Metal Gear Solid 4 on-hand, Konami has mentioned that they will be also be announcing new Metal Gear Solid projects from Kojima Studio. It's interesting to see that the franchise is staying with Kojima Studio, considering Hideo Kojima has said he will no longer have a hand in Metal Gear Solid after MGS4. But it's cool to hear that he'll still at least..."
"Another day and another one of Michael Pachter's far-reaching predictions for the gaming industry, this time concerning yet another PlayStation 3 price cut, reports Next-Gen.
The Morgan Wedbush Securities analyst, who GamerSquad swears just wants cult status amongst gamers (we're hours away from printing our first batch of "Pachter Rules!" T-shirts), has stated that he expects the price of Sony's high-definition behemoth to drop at the beginning of next year in order to take advantage of ..."
"A HMV representative told GameSpot, "In his enthusiasm, one of our online games team indicated that hmv.co.uk would start taking pre-orders for MGS4 on XBox 360, when, in fact, he simply meant to ask customers if they wished to receive an alert in the event of this title one day coming out on this platform."
He continued, "We're sorry to have caused such a stir--the oversight has now been corrected. He is now sitting on the naughty step.""
Games have a tendancy to be set a release date, which is inevitably pushed back. This is true for both Metal Gear Solid 4 (which was set for release this year, and pushed back till next year) and GTA4 (which has been pushed from october to next year), among other titles which have been delayed.
Various reasons have come about as to why the games have gotten delayed, (GTA4 being delayed due to issues with the PS3 anyone...), and usually all the developers say is that they would rather ship...
Now whether or not you believe Metal Gear Solid 4 is a PS3 exclusive or not is up to you, but HMV have got the game listed and ready to pre-order. How long this stays there for we do not know, but do HMV have inside information about MGS4 coming to the Xbox 360 5 months after the PS3 release or is this a silly error adding to the list of annoying articles for PS3 gamers?
"Konami's recent financial analysis meeting has revealed important information for all fans of Metal Gear Solid. Apparently, MGS4 will launch in March 2008, and a solid release date for MGS4 will be announced at TGS.
A Japanese insider who attended the meeting revealed these bullet points:
Metal Gear Solid 4's exact release date will be announced at the Tokyo Game Show.
President Fumiaki Tanaka of Konami Digital Entertainment stated that release is likely Q4 March 2008

"Some things, it is valid to say, never change, and heres another one: the debate over whether or not Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will go multi-platform will rumble boringly on.
Yep, less than three weeks after series creator Hideo Kojima stood on a stage in Santa Monica and reassured us all that yes, Metal Gear Solid 4 would be a PlayStation 3 exclusive, heres Konami Digital Entertainment President Fumiaki Tanaka to upset the applecart again: "As we are aware of the populari..."
"And now, the potentially exciting bit: this first-rate collection could - we repeat, could - be seeing a US release, according to hints dropped by Konami reps at Comic Con International, the annual comic book convention thats held in San Diego. GamerSquad hopes against hope..."
"Are you confident that Metal Gear Solid 4 is going to stay exclusive?
PD: Yeah.
Konami recently cast a little doubt on that.
PD: There was something that came out prior to (the Sony E3 keynote) announcement. Our folks have talked to the Konami folks, and until the announcement was out from our side, I think they were being a little bit cagey. But the agreement calls for exclusivity, the announcement's been made, and now people know the real story."
So, most of you have probably already seen the Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer, but then again, most of you probably missed this long list of things that Gamers-Creed has pointed out for us. Read the list, if you have the time. Things range from, the MK2 pistol is back, you can pick up enemy weapons and a crotch grab equals a knock out.
There have been evidence proven that Metal Gear Solid 4, is a Playstation 3 exclusive.
In short, here are the ten reasons, Jack and Hideo said so at E3, Kaz sent Hideo flowers for the Metal Gear 20th Anniversary Party which is a Japanese Custom, Sony sent Hideo a cake and booze for the Party, Kojima Productions stated that it's especially for the PS3, Sony is producing the MGS movie, The MG 20th Anniversary cell phone is a Sony Product, At the Anniversary Party, Phil Harrison appeared in ...
IGN previews the newest Metal Gear Solid Game. IGN says the game looks amazing, and it's storyline is hella lot better the MGS2. A must-buy game for PS3.
Detailed textures (the streets are broken from the fighting and Snake has never looked as detailed); a first-person, Sixaxis mode; exploding vans; and much more was packed into this demo, but all this was only a small scratch of the surface of what Metal Gear Solid 4 has in store for its fans in 2008.
We all thought Metal Gear Solid 4 would be the last Metal Gear game. This is both correct, and incorrect. Kojima today officially announced the creation of Metal Gear Online. Whilst still part of the Metal Gear franchise, it will have no story, and so in essence the story will end with MGS4. It was also announced that it would be using the MGS4 engine, and with the announcement comes the fact that there will be no online mode in MGS4, just the offline game ;).
With the announcement of the ...
Among all the other bombs dropping during the MGS Party in Tokyo, Kojima did not spare this one. Eva is making a comeback, and she has aged. Those of you who have played Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, will be well acquainted with this character. Exactly what she has to do with the new storyline, remains to be seen.
"Twenty years ago, a bandana-rocking badass stepped onto the Nintendo Entertainment System and went to work on bringing down some bad guys at Outer Heaven. His name was Snake, and the videogame world would bow to his presence.
Well, they eventually would. After a couple sequels, Snake receded into the background of gaming culture. While the world moved on, Snake rested. Snake waited.
In 1998, Metal Gear Solid shipped for the PlayStation and turned the industry on its head. Sequels ..."
"The 12 new stills show an aging Snake doing the following: assaulting a soldier for his kit; ducking for cover amid a moment's contemplation before then springing into action (no cardboard box, unfortunately); taking aim at an unfortunate enemy in a distant window; firing wildly in the direction of an off-screen adversary (presumably dead); rolling a heavy metal barrel into a static enemy, sending him flying, and much more including, erm, a naked statue with its private parts shielded."
"Tonight, Hideo Kojima will start showing us what Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is all about, as the series creator strolls into the Ritz Carlton Tokyo for the Metal Gear 20th Anniversary celebration. We've sent GameVideo's Mark MacDonald, alongside the rest of the 1UP Japan crew, into the field for this momentous party, which promises much more than a bunch of champagne sipping.
At the event, Kojima will take to the stage and provide a live demonstration of MGS4. Expect to learn m..."
A Japanese trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4 on the Playstation 3 hints a release this Winter, sometime between December and February. Now the official XBOX magazine has made a statement saying that a reliable source has confirmed the game to be coming to the 360 a few months after the release of it on the PS3. Rumor or has Konami finally doubted PS3 sales enough to want to develop MGS for other platforms?
Even though Kojima states the Playstation 3 will be an exclusive to the Playstation 3 the rumors will still not give up. This new rumor is OXM that declared they had a reliable source that said Metal Gear Solid 4 was definitely coming to the Xbox 360 and is going to be run by a separate team, one that Kojima is not part of and will be available a few months after the Playstation 3 release of the game.
"Medicom Toy is readying a play date buddy for the Real Action Heroes edition of Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The high-end toy manufacturer will be releasing a 12 inch version of MGS4's Raiden in sexy, sensible heels to keep old Snake company.
At $175, it might be a bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. Sideshow Collectibles has quality shots of the prototype figure, one which promises price appropriate articulation and accessories. It's due to ship i..."
The latest news regardiing Metal gear solid from Hideo Kojima is that there will be Metal Gear online for PS3, whether this will be connected to Metal Gear Solid 4 or will be a Standalone on its own, remains to be seen.
As for now we will have to be happy with this piece of news that came out after Kojima did his 20 min demonstration of Snake's new abilities in MGS4 at a Tokyo Premier Event.
"Yesterday at the Playstation Premier event, a gameplay segment of MGS 4 was shown off. Unfortunately no one has yet managed to upload the related video, but Famitsu has offered some details on a range of new actions that Snake can perform based on the clip."
In the Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer, some people may have noticed something oddly new. You see everyone falling down and people vomiting, there is one guy who is standing. Who is he? He seems to have gray hair at his neck and just above his glasses. Could it be Old Snake? No, both Snake and this mystery guy are both seen, so this can't be Snake. If not, who is he?
A new release at E3 of a Metal Gear Solid 4 screenshots. The screenshots introduce you with up close images and designs of Vamp and his fight scene with Raiden and many others including the design of the surrounding environment.
"With Sony's press conference in the past, we've created a roundup of all the small, but significant, announcements and confirmations. This year, Sony allowed very little time for the audience to ponder and absorb, so a lot of the groundbreaking revelations were not emphasised. This was of course a good thing, as it showed that Sony had a lot of things to say. So aside from the major announcements, such as MGS4, Haze and UT3 exclusivity, here are the other tidbits:
- 200 games on Blu-ray an..."
"SANTA MONICA, Calif.--Konami will help close the first day of the new E3 with its press conference at Santa Monica's Fairmont Hotel. GameSpot arrived to find attendees lined up out the door and into the driveway, and security seemed unusually high for what we expected to be a fairly standard third-party press briefing."
Released during E3 2007 by Kojima himself, this trailer boasts some of the high octane future to come in MGS4. While the trailer contains no actual gameplay it reveals more on the plot line from the trailer shown at last years E3.
"Pre-E3 whispers say MGS4 will be a timed exclusive for PS3. Microsoft mentioned just about every other game under the sun at its E3 press conference expect Kojima's highly-anticipated action game.

A source has told CVG that , "Kitaue is constantly trying to force Kojima to drop the game's PS3 exclusivity, which Hideo refuses point blank to do. Trust me MGS4 will be a PS3 exclusive for months at least.""
"I just got word that well have a very cool treat coming this week to the PLAYSTATION Store. What would E3 be without a new Metal Gear Solid trailer?
The latest Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer will be available exclusively for download on the PLAYSTATION Store shortly following our press conference tomorrow. From our friends over at Konami and Kojima Productions, I heard they were still putting the final touches on the trailer a mere five hours before it was hand carried today to Santa Monica ..."
"It has been coming, and coming, and coming, and finally it looks like one of the more highly anticipated releases of all time has been given a release date. Solid Snakes next-gen debut in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is expected to hit stores in March 2008. This news comes from a release schedule sent from the offices of the game's local distributor Atari this morning.
The timing of this announcement isnt surprising, with the game expected to be one of the highlights of..."
"Off the back of this, Kitaue explained huge development costs may force Konami to consider releasing MGS4 on other consoles to increase the available user base and, along with that, its returns on game sales.
"Since Metal Gear Solid was born for the PlayStation, we would like to keep it a PlayStation game. But we might have to take some steps," he reveals.
360 owners, keep those fingers crossed."
Kojima Productions Ryan Payton has revealed in a recent podcast that there will be a new trailer , fully in English, released at next week's Konami and Sony press conference. Besides this there is also a big possibility that there will be a playable version of the game at the upcoming July 24th MGS 20th anniversary celebrations in Tokyo.

While some might suggest that Ubisoft's Sam Fisher is the king of gaming stealth, the one true king - regardless of any past failings - remains a certain Mr. Solid Snake from Kojima. As the Metal Gear Solid franchise approaches the 20-year marker, its creator offers up insight into its history and effects.
Another Limited Edition game for the Playstation 3. We aren't sure as of yet to what the limited edition will feature that the regular game does not already have, but just do what I do and keep telling yourself it will be good. Kojima is taking suggestions as of now to what will be included in the limited edition, so it could be much or less a fan built game. That's what I'm hoping for, at least.

Konami have decided to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Metal Gear in style by opening up this new page on their official website, and I have to say it's looking pretty good! The Metal Gear series has had success on all these different platforms, so it deserves to be recognised.
"In the latest EGM LIVE, Shane Bettenhausen one of the EGM editors who last week was on the Kojima podcast talks more in-depth on MGS4. How it will probably be coming in (or slightly before) March to the PS3, and more or less confirms there is a deal in place that MGS4 will come to the 360. It will be announced after the PS3 version is out and odds are it may come out 6-months to a year after the PS3 version. So just maybe Xbox 360 owners may get a chance at Snake come next Christmas."
One of the most anticipated games on the Playstation 3 has now been delayed. How will this affect the PS3? Only time will tell.
A letter has been submitted to customers who have pre-ordered or have registered to receive the latest information about MGS4. According to the letter the game has been delayed for 7 months, that's counting September also. Hopefully it's for the better.
"Hirokazu Hamamura, The president of Enterbrain, which is the publisher of popular Japanese magazine Famitsu, gave a lecture about the current status of the console market.
He stated that unlike the Wii, the PlayStation 3 has many exclusive games that belong to famous franchises, all previously released for the PlayStation and PlayStation 2. The bad thing is that most of these games don't even have a release date and that raises doubts among the fans. Once they are released, however, Hirokazu..."
