"It’s more about gameplay and less about the story, which means a win-win for everyone. There’s sneaking, explosive action and even a little cinema thrown in for good effect. It’s frustration and glee all rolled up in one excellent multiplayer title for the PSP."
The first batch of free downloadable content is now available for the recently-released Playstation Portable (PSP) exclusive game, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.
Metal Gear is a huge series, and every installment follows a massive hype train. There is no exception in Peace Walker's case. Many are anxious about the title being on the PSP, but exterminat tells us that the title is great and lives up to the console counterparts. He even goes so far as to say that it even warrants a PSP purchase if you're a true Metal Gear fan.
The release of Peace Walker has MGS fans excited and animated. This fan in particular has created and cosplayed practically every character in the Metal Gear universe, from sexy classics like Meryl to even crazy super Raiden from Metal Gear Solid 4.
Hideo Kojima responds to the western review scores from his recently released Playstation Portable (PSP) exclusive game, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

The start of summer is usually a slow period for new game releases. Although the high-profile titles may be missing in the month of June, it still has plenty to offer.

Clearly Kojima didn't think the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker soundtrack cover and Paz music video was enough fanservice.
A brand new batch of screens have been released, featuring Paz in a bikini and Master Miller in a pair of briefs. Fanservice for both guys and girls.
Uh, sexy? (Or is that creepy?)
"Hideo Kojima and crew appear at major launch events as latest Metal Gear Solid hits Japan in advance.
Similar to the World Tour that accompanied Metal Gear Solid 4's release two years back, the Peace Walker tour will see Metal Gear mastermind Hideo Kojima travel the world with key staffers, meeting fans at the major launches. Following Japan, the tour will head to Asia, then a month later to Europe and the US. See the official schedule for details.
The Japanese leg of the tour kicked o..."
"While the women in fighting games tend to get the most attention for being considered "sexy", their cousins in the action genre are out shooting it up and exploring boundaries well beyond the confines of a ring. Just because these characters are rendered in more than bikinis doesn't mean they're not sexy.
The action genre has been dominated by male characters since the creation of gaming. But there have been a few exceptions to the rule of sexes. And of course, these female exceptions have..."
"Japanese game magazine Famitsu has weighed in the latest Metal Gear Solid adventure, welcoming the new PlayStation Portable into the coveted ranks of game’s bearing the publication’s highest mark. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker has been rated 40/40."

The British Board of Film Classification reveals the total running time for linear elements (e.g. cut scenes) in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on the PSP.
"The game’s controls took some getting used to, due to a manual aiming. Combat is similar toMetal Gear Solid 3, as the game utilizes the same type of CQC system as its predecessor. The face buttons also help by controlling the camera, freeing up the D-Pad for aiming and dedicating the analog nub to movement. Generally, the controls are comparable to those in Portable Ops, and pushing forward slowly to walk and quicker to run is a nice touch that helps to make up for the PSP’s analog nub shortc..."
So now it's Tactical Espionage OPERATIONS rather than Action. Quite a fitting change, as Peace Walker shows off in it's new gameplay trailer, just how much more we can expect from this grand release. There's so many new features and customisation ability that it's unreal. Kojima wasn't kidding when he said that this was going to be a 'true sequel'.
Thought Metal Gear Solid 4's product placement was crazy? You ain't seen nothing yet.
It was recently revealed that Peace Walker will have even more tie-ins, including: Pepsi, Suntory, Mountain Dew, Doritos, Uniqlo, and even AXE deodorant.
Hideo Kojima responds to complains about the numerous cross promotional tie-ins featured in the upcoming PSP exclusive, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.
I'm not sure how old Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker's Paz is supposed to be, but Konami seem to enjoy putting her in various states of undress.
The CD cover for "Love Deterrence", the character theme song for Paz, gives gamers a nice little... surprise in the form of being able to undress Paz.
Indeed.
It seems some Metal Gear fans still haven't realized Hideo Kojima has a bizarre sense of humor.
A few weeks ago, Kojima Productions released this silly little music video, featuring Peace Walker's Paz singing her theme song "Deterrence of Love" on a beach.
Unfortunarely, there were a fair few fans who didn't understand the humor behind the video, and demanded Kojima explain why it was released, claiming it was "not Metal Gear."
Kojima responded to the outrage on his Twitter.
This is probably one of the greatest things I've heard this year. My two most favourite gaming series of all time, are coming together! Monster Hunter will supposedly be featured in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker game for PSP. Perhaps this will be similar to Snake Eater's Ape Escape feature, or otherwise this is a late April Fools joke. If it's the latter, well, words cannot express how much I'll be disappointed.
"The much awaited Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the PSP is releasing this Wednesday and Hideo Kojima is very busy with its launch party that is going to happen in just a couple of days. In his recent tweet just a couple of hours ago, he hinted that he will be announcing something big for Peace Walker. He said that it should hint something about the new “Metal”? Could it be a new Metal Gear that is tied up to Peace Walker? He also said that you won’t really enjoy it until you have played t..."
Konami have released a bizarre music video, featuring Paz (who is voiced by singer and voice-actress Nana Mikuki) on a beach, singing her theme song "Deterrence of Love" in various states of undress while soldiers fight around her.
It's...interesting, to say the least.
The song is also performed by Mizuki.
Stop before you jump the gun thinking this is old news, there's some more information behind the story, with new pictures! As you can see, there was serious planning into Peace Walker being marketed as MGS5. Even more so with the famous Kojima "Rain" Website, which contained cryptic messages involving flashes of characters and numbers or letters. Surely enough, this cements the notion that Peace Walker is the true Prequel to Guns of the Patriots, and that Kojima is 100% devoted to this game, ...
A few members of the Kojima Productions team reveal their sales expectations for the upcoming PSP exclusive game, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, in the West.
Sean Eyestone of Kojima Productions says that the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker development team is as big as the one that developed Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
Your favorite Metal Gear Solid production team has seemingly decided to join Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada on Twitter. Well...actually the Twitter account has been active for several months; it's only just now that they've started "volcanic activity" on the account, according to Kojima Productions PRer Kenichiro Imaizumi.
Despite the lack of any real news on the account, a friendly reminder that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker hits on April 29, presumably after the team's Twitter account "eru...
If you thought Kojima Productions had forgotten about the "surprise that would make people rush out to buy Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, don't worry, they haven't. Kojima Productions PR manager Jiro Oishi has hinted to this surprise feature in a recent post at the Kojima Productions blog.
It is still a complete mystery what this surprise might be, but it's suppose to be "huge."
If there is one thing Hideo Kojima hates, it's having to delay a game. In a recent Kojima Productions blog, he said: "I always preach to the staff, 'You must not have a delay after a release date has been announced. There is no greater crime as a game developer.'"
Needless to say, he was apologetic that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker had to be delayed.
If there was any doubt that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was a main entry in the MGS series, cast it away right now.
In a recent interview with Official Playstation Magazine, Hideo Kojima revealed that Peace Walker would have been Metal Gear Solid 5 if it wasn't on the PSP.
According to Kojima: "It's not a side story or a spin-off. It's not like Portable Ops or Acid. I am deeply involved and this is the next Metal Gear."
"As interest continues to grow in this stunning new title from series creator Hideo Kojima, he and his Tokyo-based Kojima Productions team have also revealed several key new elements to be found in the game. The first major reveal is the Mother Base offshore plant, which acts as a hub for items and personnel collected within the game. During the course of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, users can recruit felled adversaries and transport them to the Mother Base sea rig by using the Fulton Recov..."
Amazon Japan recently revealed the official Japanese box art for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Love it or hate it, it will definitely stand out in stores!
It isn't uncommon that a Japanese game voice actor or actress might dabble in singing - Just take a look at the Final Fantasy VII cast's singing attemtps - but very few have managed to do what Nana Mizuki has done.
Mizuki, the voice actress for Paz in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, has become the first-ever game voice actress to top the Japanese song charts with her single "Phantom Minds." (This obviously doesn't include singers who have done voice work. Sorry, GACKT).
""An Ending with a Twist
However the Metal Gear Solid film would have ended, you can bet it would have included some kind of twist, if only in the form of a voice-over that immediately followed the credits. Just think of all the subtle plot twists and/or sequel hints that could have been thrown into the last little bits of dialogue. It would have been amazing.""
"Following the staggered announcements of global release dates for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Konami Digital Entertainment has released a whole host of new character artwork from the game. Arriving all in three major territories in May next year, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is an all-new episode in the Metal Gear Solid saga, exclusive to the PlayStation Portable (PSP)."
"Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is set in 1974 at the tail end of the cold war and boasts an all-new story penned by game creator Hideo Kojima himself. Taking full advantage of the PSP format, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker takes the series in an exciting new direction with incredible visuals, as it sheds new light on well-known adversaries and allies, along with a wealth of new characters. The famed ‘stealth’ gameplay that has established the Metal Gear Solid series as a modern classic has al..."
"Konami officially announced today via the MGS: PW site, after Famitsu leaked the release date, that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker exclusively for the PSP will be arriving in the land of the rising sun on March 18, 2010. There is currently no announcement on the North American version of the game. Hopefully Konami will release the game here in the US somewhere around that date."
"The final product is astounding, the look, feel & sound of a Metal Gear product is all there. Despite the lack of a true blockbuster feel, you know the kind that costs around $40,000,00, Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy is the greatest fan made movie I have ever seen. I strongly urge you to watch this, and then get over to the comment section and tell them what a great job they did. It has taken years, literally, but they kept at it and now it’s done."
"Some days you feed on a tree frog ... and some days you get a new Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker demo! Kojima's official blog brings word that a new demo will drop on the Japanese PSN this Sunday, November 1st. It's not quite the same as the one we got our hands on -- this one will be a tweaked version of the demo that was available exclusively in a special section of Konami's booth at the Tokyo Game Show."
Unclothing characters and advertising over-the-top sex appeal in games seems to be an increasing trend lately.
It looks like Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker has jumped on the "unclothing characters" bandwagon. During the 2D cutscenes, you have the ability to see through a character's clothing, right down to their underwear.
Err...useful?

Hideo Kojima's new blog has given us an insight into the inner workings of Kojima's mind... and it's kind of confusing. Today he discussed his opinion on Obama's Nobel Peace Prize. It didn't make much sense, but it has now become more clear why Metal Gear Solid's plots were so gosh darned confusing...
Metal Gear Solid trailers tend to be lengthy, but this latest Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker TGS '09 trailer takes the cake when it comes to drama. The Japanese voice actors do an excellent job of course, just ignore the "BIGU BOSSU" at the end. There are English subtitles, so don't worry, you can still enjoy this trailer as much as any Nipponese-speaker.
Lots of new characters, new war vs. peace sociological debating, and other things you love about MGS. Plus Snake and lots of blond ch...
Konami recently revealed the cast list for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which includes some familiar and not-so-familiar faces.
It also looks like that the mysterious blonde man revealed on Kojima's blog is Master Miller.

Remember 'Master Miller' from the first Metal Gear Solid game? He was one of my favorite Codec contacts, and one of the most helpful characters in the game... until the twist at the end, anyway. That was a kick to the gut.
Well, it looks like the real Master Miller might be appearing in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Konami has just announced there will be an exclusive demo at this year's Tokyo Game Show for Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker.
The Tokyo Game Show takes place later this month, September 24th to the 27th.
"Announced in the wake of Metal Gear Solid: Rising, Peace walker is the canonical sequel to PSP’s Portable Ops. It moves on four years from the events at the San Hieronymo Peninsula to 1974. Now more grizzly than ever, Big Boss is in Costa Rica as the head of a mercenary group called ‘Militaires Sans Frontières’. A french translation of ‘Military without borders’. As Costa Rica had no military at the time, it was seen as easy pickings. An uknown military power takes over, and it’s up to Big Bo..."
Accoring to Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima, the two teams working on Metal Gear Solid: Rising and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker "are not good friends" and have a bit of rivalry going on between them. One of the reasons the teams aren't too keen on each other is because the MGS: Peace Walker team recieved the short end of the stick when it came to money and hardware specs.
But this might be a good thing. If the two teams are competing against each other, this can only mean they are...
An open letter from Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, sent out to fans at gamescom this year indicates the upcoming PSP installment Peace Walker will in fact take "hundreds of hours to complete."
"Metal Gear Solid has always been a game about infiltration and stealth; a game about a one-man-army sneaking through some massive, highly-guarded military complex all by his lonesome, armed only with his wits and occasionally a SOCOM pistol (sometimes fitted with a suppressor if you can find it).
"
"Metal Gear Solid: Rising seems to be taking the story in a slightly different direction by expanding on Raiden’s story. While we are all scratching our heads at what exactly “Lightning Bolt Action” means, Kojima was recently quoted that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker continues the true Metal Gear Solid saga."
Konami released their own Q&A session with Kojima Productions' Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear fame. He talks mostly about Peace Walker, that pre-E3 teaser on the Kojima Productions website, and a few personal opinions -- such as his anti-war sentiments.
Also, new screenshots of Peace Walker were released with the Q&A, as well as a mini-lesson in kanji at the source.
"In celebration of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots’ one year anniversary, Konami has announced today that they will release “exciting” Metal Gear announcements all week long. Each day this week, Metal Gear fans can expect to receive game updates and other highly anticipated announcements about the best-selling series direct from Konami."
Just a few shots of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker from Konami, taken from the E3 announcement trailer.
And in case you want relive that beautiful moment where two Solid Snakes crawl into a cardboard box together over and over again... here it is.
Though only the Xbox 360 release was mentioned in the press release, Sony's Jack Tretton confirms Metal Gear: Rising will indeed be coming to the PS3. PC release isn't confirmed yet, but does look likely.
Meanwhile, series creator Hideo Kojima lets us know he will not be directing or designing Rising, but rather focusing his efforts on Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which he describes as the "Metal Gear Solid 5 inside me".
"The game takes place only 10 years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 3, so if I have my timelines correct, it’s literally just after the events of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, another must-have PSP for you fans out there. Peace Walkers is set to fill the gap between MGS3 and the original Metal Gear for the MSX2 console, and covers the finest chapter in the Metal Gear history."
In true Metal Gear fashion, Hideo Kojima came on stage to announce a new Metal Gear for the Playstation Portable, and he did that with a trailer... the trailer which can be found below for you to enjoy:
