Hideo Kojima has revealed a teaser image containing trophy and achievement icons for the upcoming Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 compilation, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.

Both Amazon and GameStop has listed a new, earlier release date for the upcoming Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 high-definition remastered compilation, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.

There are always those moments in certain video games that make you do a double take and think to yourself, "What the heck just happened?" A mark of a memorable game is when...

GameStop has put up product listings for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, revealing the price and release date for the upcoming compilation.

In an interview with creative producer for the Kojima development team, Yoshikazu Matsuhana, stated that the original Metal Gear Solid will not be appearing in the recently announced HD collection. While this may be shocking to some, what’s even more shocking is the reason why it will not be included.

The Japanese box arts have been revealed for the Metal Gear Solid HD Edition, Zone of the Enders HD Edition and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Konami has revealed several comparison screens for Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, which was recently announced for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

"It’s been over two and a half years since we experienced the end of Solid Snake‘s tale and what would be the true “end” of the series to the fanbase.

Snake gave his final salute at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4, and to longtime fans of the series (including the MSX versions) it was one of the most powerful moments this generation.

Here we have a hero that not only came to define the PlayStation platform, but ushered in the mainstream version of the stealth genre; now he’s out of our liv..."

"Our list looks back across the last 10 years to find a surprising number of compelling characters whose origin was completely artificial. Whether a malevolent computer program or a sentient transforming robot, these characters showed that science fiction storytelling is fond of the idea of machines that can think for themselves."

Yes, Konami has released official transgender merchandise; it's called the Sweet Snakes. In spite of how silly that sounds, TK-Nation's Cassandra Khaw managed to track down a cosplayer capable of executing a female Raiden with style, aplomb and a lot of scariness factor.

"Since there are literally hundreds of thousands of games out there, it’s no easy task for lead characters to make a lasting impression on the player. Once in a while however, you'll come across a leader that's different. Somehow, that character manages to set himself apart from the others."

If you thought the similarities between Solid Snake and Escape From New York's Snake Plisskin were too obvious to be a coincidence, you would be right. Hideo Kojima wrote director John Carpenter a letter, asking for his "blessing" in regards to the homage...

The release of Peace Walker has MGS fans excited and animated. This fan in particular has created and cosplayed practically every character in the Metal Gear universe, from sexy classics like Meryl to even crazy super Raiden from Metal Gear Solid 4.

"Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link

Nintendo released Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link a year after the successful The Legend of Zelda charmed NES players everywhere. Unlike the top-down adventure of the first game, Zelda 2 focused on side-scrolling areas linked by an overworld, a-la Final Fantasy. Borrowing from RPGs didn’t stop there, though, as the game also incorporated a level system, spells, and a focus on towns and talking to people, who were often pretty vague, if not entirely useless. ..."

"1. Most people recognize me as Raiden, but my real name is Jack. I also went by a few others like Jack the Ripper and White Devil.

2. My name originated from the Mistubishi J2M fighter plane in World War 2. The American nickname for the plane was Jack, while the Japanese nickname was Raiden.

3. In the Civil War during the 1990s, I fought as a child soldier for Solidus Snake. I found out later he murdered my parents so that he could raise me to kill for him.

4. ..."

"While the women in fighting games tend to get the most attention for being considered "sexy", their cousins in the action genre are out shooting it up and exploring boundaries well beyond the confines of a ring. Just because these characters are rendered in more than bikinis doesn't mean they're not sexy.

The action genre has been dominated by male characters since the creation of gaming. But there have been a few exceptions to the rule of sexes. And of course, these female exceptions have..."

Whether the game was just plain terrible or it just couldn't live up to its expectations, here is the GT Countdown to the top 10 disappointing games of the decade.

While a Metal Gear Solid movie is looking pretty unlikely, that hasn't stopped Gamerzines.com from putting together a list of the actors and actresses they would like to see star in a MGS movie.
Don't worry, Christian Bale isn't on the list :-D

"When asked to give a rough percentage of how many ideas came from his team in the making of MGS Peace Walker on PSP, Kojima told the Official PlayStation Magazine: "Well it's strange, but not so many ideas come from the other staff. Co-op Ring, Love Box - the names and the ideas come from myself," said Kojima who, after MGS4, can do no wrong in our loving eyes.

"I am taking charge of the overall game design," he said, with a final stamp of authority. Modest chap, eh?"

"A few weeks back I received the best Final Fantasy news I had heard in a long time. No, it wasn't some new announcement about Final Fantasy XIII. Truth be told, I'm a bit apathetic about Square Enix's latest state of the art opus. My bit of excitement came from the discovery that Final Fantasy VIII would be hitting the North American PlayStation store.

Suffice it to say that I downloaded the game the day it was released, and have since been enjoying it on my PSP, a necessity considering my..."

"The final product is astounding, the look, feel & sound of a Metal Gear product is all there. Despite the lack of a true blockbuster feel, you know the kind that costs around $40,000,00, Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy is the greatest fan made movie I have ever seen. I strongly urge you to watch this, and then get over to the comment section and tell them what a great job they did. It has taken years, literally, but they kept at it and now it’s done."

"I love Metal Gear Solid, in fact there has never been a franchise that has amazed me and left me speechless quite like this franchise has. In fact the question was asked of me recently if you could meet anyone famous who would it be; my reply was Hideo Kojima, because he created, in my eyes, the most amazing franchise ever made.

Metal Gear Solid changed my gaming life. The experiences I had are still vivid in my mind, and I often recall moments when I first experienced them. Though some ma..."

With God Of War 1 and 2 are being re-released on Blu-Ray, Kotaku asked other gaming companies whether they will consider re-releasing their big-name series for PS3.

Konami have no announcements at the moment, though they "are constantly exploring unique ways to expose players to some of our legacy titles such as Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill".

Capcom have beeing seeing "some interested for Devil May Cry to get this treatment" and would like fans to tell them which games they'd like ...

""I personally get confused too about the whole timeline and saga of Metal Gear Solid. This is especially tricky when you create the future first and then go back in time to create something new. There are a lot of small aspects where sometimes it doesn't match completely.""

The rumors that Christian Bale will play the role of Solid Snake in a possible Metal Gear Solid movie were recently squashed by Bale himself. So that leaves the door open for any actor to play the role if the movie is indeed ever created.

But which actor would make a good Solid Snake? Go to the source for kokugamer.com's Top 5 Movie Actors Who Could Play Solid Snake...

"25 Things About Me - Psycho Mantis:

1. Welcome…. I’ve been expecting you… but let’s not make this all about me. After all, we both know why you’re here…. You came to see if I really am the most powerful practitioner of psychokinesis and telepathy in the world!

2. So, you don’t think I can amaze you as I did for millions that played Metal Gear Solid? Well, my powers have already connected to your mind! Yes… through these very words, I can see your deepest thoughts.

Every now and then we need a helping hand in a game, so it's always nice knowing that there are characters who will point you in the right direction and send you on your merry way. Unfortunately, there are also the characters who go out of their way to help...and end up becoming annoying nags. Here are Gamesradar's Top 7 Game Characters That Need To Shut The *bleep* Up ...

"With releases on just about every platform from the past twenty years, numerous sequels, remakes and non-canonical spinoffs, Metal Gear is one of the most prolific and longest-living series in gaming. It paved the way for stealth gaming in general, and in particular, broke ground for tech-stealth games like Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell and Syphon Filter. It's impossible to do justice to such a wide-ranging experience in so few words—that this history can only hope to scratch the surface is a te..."

"I fended off last year's hype machines like a fish resisting a hook, but by fall I was caught and reeled in by the likes of Spore, LittleBigPlanet, Gears of War 2 and Fallout 3. They were all innovative, and unique and groundbreaking, but none met my unreachable expectations.

Was it always like this? Has every big release launched like an easy home run, only to strike the foul post? My childhood memories say, "No," but my retrospective of the Most Hyped Games Ever says, "Yes."

That's ..."

"Walking - it's a simple thing to do. But it's absolute nightmare to animate realistically, which is why some games, even with today's tech, make a pig's ear of it. Sometimes with hilarious results. And it's these results we're interested in.

Why some games make the simple task of putting one foot in front look like we've gone over on an ankle (which bloody hurts), we don't know? They should know better.

But here's a selection of our favourite comedy gaming walks, along with videos to g..."

A Turkish man has escaped a prison in western Germany by making use of the tried and true Solid Snake method of using a cardboard box. There is now a manhunt taking place to recapture the clever escapee.

"Solid Snake’s story is finished, but that doesn’t mean Konami is going to seal the Metal Gear Solid franchise in an early grave. The first sign of a new Metal Gear Solid game comes from the Japanese Trademark database where Konami registered Metal Gear Existence with the boring image on the right. It’s made to be used with video games so it’s likely, very likely, the name of a future Metal Gear Solid game."

With Ryan Payton having left Kojima productions now, 1UP have published their last interview with him, before he left the department, which sheds yet more light on how this masterpiece came to be.

"Video game characters are increasingly becoming the poster children for gym membership. With most of gaming’s heroes and heroines being chiseled, pert and with cheek bones you could grate cheese on, there seems to be less and less room for the more gelatinous gentleman in the industry.

That’s why we thought we’d celebrate those characters who said no to Atkins and still managed to pull off moves that would shame most gold-winning Olympians. But while they might seem fighting fit on your co..."

1Up goes through the top five worst/disappointing sequels to hit games to hit the shelves. The list is below - more information in the link.

Some of their logic makes sense; when you have as big name, blockbuster title as the original, in most of these cases, it will be hard for the sequel not to disappoint.

Gamers have been hearing rumors of a Hollywood Metal Gear Solid movie for years. But while fans wait for that, let's take a look at a little fan-made movie that is currently in the works called "Metal Gear Asynja".
Created by TM Gear "Metal Gear Asynja" is (apparently) a parody of the MGS series, and it has slowly but surely been gaining notoriety on the 'net.
Here is the first teaser trailer ...

The Metal Gear Solid series is well-known for it's unique and interesting bosses. From a weirdo who can control bees, to a buxom blonde sniper with a thing for wolves, to a seemingly-invincible bisexual vampire... MGS has every type of odball imagineable up against poor Snake and Raiden.

Here's a list of the insane bosses of Metal Gear Solid.

(For a funny little twist, read the article to find out why Rosemary and a ladder make the list) ...

The Metal Gear series has been going for a long time, and during that time there have been many MANY awkward moments... listening to a certain 'guard' peeing in MGS2 comes to mind... however this article is only for the top 5 of those awkward moments... let's take a look at the top 5 list:

5) Crotch Grabbing
4) Homoerotic Sword Fighting
3) Otacon Sleeps With His Mom
2) Do You Think Love Can Bloom?
1) Jack and Rose

The creator of the Metal Gear Solid series, Hideo Kojima, has received another honor: a Guiness record! Canadian site Game Focus learned that he was inducted into the Book of World Records Gamers Edition for two different reasons. Which ones you may ask?

"If you haven't played all of the games in the series, there's every chance that some of it will leave you feeling slightly adrift and a bit confused. Heck, even if you've been following every labyrinthine twist and Byzantine turn of the story so far, there's every chance it will leave you pretty confused. That's because with each new game in the series, the story so far has got more elaborate, more complex, and more convoluted, to the extent that trying to make sense of it all is a bit like h..."

Someone on XMBonline believes that not everyone can review a Metal Gear Solid game. He/she believes that the review for Eurogamer did not appreciate the 'core value' of the franchise and believes the negatives(long loading cutscenes) are more of a 'blessing than a curse'. He/she says that only hardcore gamers should be able to review it properly in their perspective, rather than a casual gamer.

"Here’s a joke: Did you hear the one about Uwe Boll directing a movie version of the acclaimed video game series “Metal Gear Solid”? So did Uwe Boll – only he’s not laughing.
“This was an absurd story,” Boll told MTV News about how his name got attached and then removed from a cinematic adaptation. “Two French guys wrote a script, said they are from Konami hired to write the script, said ‘You wanna direct it?’ I read the script, I liked the script. I said, ‘Yes, I can do it.’”

IGN takes the concept of Super Smash Brothers and makes a list of the top characters for a PlayStation version of a multi franchise cross-over. While this is supposed to be a bit of a parody, the "Sony Skills" actually sound like they would work if a game like this was ever made. If they went the extra mile to get specific with each character's moves, it would make a perfectly legitimate rip off.

"Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today confirmed speculation that Metal Gear Solid ®: the Essential Collection is currently planned for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. Now Metal Gear Solid fans have the final chance to fully immerse themselves in the Metal Gear Solid universe before the release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots."

"Video games have a long tradition of creating tough-as-nails protagonists that fight hordes of oncoming enemies. Still, few have been able to elevate themselves to true “badass” status. Sam Fisher and Solid Snake are two characters that have been known for years for their ability to strike fear into enemy NPO’s and let gamers unleash their inner Special Ops soldier. However, there is only room at the top for one badass to rule them all. Myarcadeplanet is putting that power in your hands. It’s..."

"Twenty years ago, a bandana-rocking badass stepped onto the Nintendo Entertainment System and went to work on bringing down some bad guys at Outer Heaven. His name was Snake, and the videogame world would bow to his presence.

Well, they eventually would. After a couple sequels, Snake receded into the background of gaming culture. While the world moved on, Snake rested. Snake waited.

In 1998, Metal Gear Solid shipped for the PlayStation and turned the industry on its head. Sequels ..."

While some might suggest that Ubisoft's Sam Fisher is the king of gaming stealth, the one true king - regardless of any past failings - remains a certain Mr. Solid Snake from Kojima. Konami have decided to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Metal Gear in style by opening up this new page on their official website, and I have to say it's looking pretty good! The Metal Gear series has had success on all these different platforms, so it deserves to be recognised.
