Nintendo of America today gets Metroid on the Nintendo 3DS eShop for download as well as a playable demo for the upcoming CRUSH 3D game by SEGA. CRUSH 3D is set to be released on March 6th.

With the extensive amount of pre-order bonuses being offered by Gamestop in North America, Nintendo is trying to promote the release in the UK by allowing players to download the original Metroid on the Virtual Console for free. The catch is that you have to be amongst the first 5000 people to register the game on Club Nintendo.

"In an effort to get you excited for the late August release of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Nintendo today announced that they'll be releasing the original NES Metroid onto the Wii Virtual Console on August 13 for 500 Wii Points.
