Get your nostalgia on!
TK-Nation's Cassandra Khaw was blown away by this exemplary example of a Samus Aran cosplay. Yuki LeFay gets extra credit for having gone all the way and using full-fledged armor instead of stretchable materials of any variety.
"Last week’s Electronic Theatre Sunday Special was the run down of Top Ten Videogame Heroes; featuring the protagonist you loved like Sam Fisher, Sonic the Hedgehog and Link. So to prove that the games industry isn’t just a man’s game, this week we focus on the Top Ten Videogame Heroines. Ten of the females that got you hot under the collar, and not in the Dead or Alive Paradise way, but stayed on track with the heroic mission which faced them have been chosen for this week’s feature article."
Although not a name you would as much as associate with new age gaming, Yoshio Sakamoto, who after making his debut on Donkey Kong Junior, went onto making Kid Icarus and ofcourse, Metroid. Metroid is a series that has done nothing but moved from strength to strength since it's very first game back in 1986. IGN look into the depths of this fantastic series from Nintendo, and they look into how the series started.
"It's early on a Saturday and it looks like the crazies are already coming out. It appears that there is a rumor going around that Jessica Simpson, the former Nuclear Scientist and MIT graduate (j/k), is slated to play Samus Aran in the upcoming Metroid movie that is supposedly directed by Uwe Boll?"
"While the women in fighting games tend to get the most attention for being considered "sexy", their cousins in the action genre are out shooting it up and exploring boundaries well beyond the confines of a ring. Just because these characters are rendered in more than bikinis doesn't mean they're not sexy.
The action genre has been dominated by male characters since the creation of gaming. But there have been a few exceptions to the rule of sexes. And of course, these female exceptions have..."
"Video games are packed with a lot of outrageous and interesting characters. One of the most intriguing things about gaming is that male gamers never have a problem playing as women. Maybe that’s because the female characters aren’t designed to look tough like the male characters. We’ve picked the five hottest female characters in video games."
Nintendo is known for some of the best video game franchises in the history of the industry. This past decade saw the debut of many great new franchises from them.
"Watch this video from ABC, it is perhaps one of the worst “Citizen Kane of Gaming” discussions ever. First off, I wonder if Micheal Thompson has “Video Game Expert” on his business card, and how one acquires such a title. The worst part of this entire production is that at first, it seems like ABC understood what Citizen Kane actually meant. They start out asking if there is “a game that does for gaming, what Citizen Kane does for film.” When they cut to IGN’s “Video Game Expert” however, we ..."
"We just got sent the box art for the upcoming Metroid Prime Trilogy and, wow, it's really nice. Featuring a badass Samus-adorned metal case, the box art is about as cool and futuristic as the retooled Metroid Prime content located on its disc. In addition to the metal case, the Wii Trilogy will also include a "special Metroid Prime Trilogy artbook." Looks like Nintendo's managed to weasel out another $50 out of us, huh? We'd go on more about it, but then that would keep you from going into ou..."
Fans of the Metroid Prime games will be happy to know that Nintendo will be releasing all three games on a single disc. Not only do you get the convenience of having all three games on one disc, but Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 Echoes, which were originally released on the Gamecube, will feature widescreen and 480p support along with motion controls a la Metroid Prime 3. However, the good news doesn't end there. The compilation will be released on August 24th for the price of a regular g...
Three key developers from the fabled studio behind the Metroid Prime games have broken away and formed their own house. Mark Pacini, Todd Keller and Jack Mathews have already signed an exclusive publishing deal with EA and are set to work on new IP's. It's rumored they may be making games for the 360 or PS3.
GameInformer, the popular magazine about all things gaming that has somewhere near three million subscribers, always has a different game on the cover each time. MTV wanted to see if there was a GI cover curse, so they looked back into the past and pulled out magazines from 2-3 years ago.
One game titled Superman Returns didn't so well, receiving 6/10's. That's nothing compared to Fear and Respect, which was at one point on a GI cover, but ended up being canceled!
All in all, the game...

"Nintendo has denied internet reports that the Metroid Prime Trilogy in its entirety is coming to Wii.
According to GoNintendo, a tipster claimed that the computer system of a retailer had a new Wii game listed as 'Metroid Prime Trilogy'.
Internet speculation jumped to the obvious conclusion that Metroid Prime 1, 2 and 3 were being repackaged as one and the GameCube games were being revamped for the console.
But speaking to CVG, Nintendo labelled the rumour as "Purely rumour and spe..."
"You guys know how I am with our GoNintendo Mole. I dont hear from him too often, but when the mole gets in touch, I listen. This news is 100% rumor for now, but that doesnt make it any less juicy.
Word has it that a certain retailer had a SKU pop up in their computer systems for a Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii. What could this title be? Well, I would expect it to be Prime 1, 3, and 3 all on the Wii
but Prime 1 and 2 with all-new Wiimote controls. I love Metroid, but I really dont know if..."
Lead designer Mark Pacini, engineer Jack Mathews, and art director Todd Keller, who were all seniors of the company Retro Studios have moved one. These three people were some of the main people involved in bringing you the Metroid Prime Trilogy. The reason for them leaving is not yet known.
It is also rumored that the three may make their own development studio, but that is still up in the air and yet to be seen.
This is an amazingly Choreographed video from gametrailers member montyoum, it features both the master chief and Samus in a pitched battle with each other and the covenant.
